A/N: Sorry for the long time between updates, school is back in session so it is harder to find time to write. I was also obsessed with a new book series and spent A LOT of time reading that. Hope you like this chapter. I am hoping to update and put another one up later tonight or tomorrow morning, all depends on how fast I can write and how tired I get. Work in the morning. Thank you for continuing to read this story and THANK YOU for the reviews I appreciate it so much. Keep them coming. Disclaimer: I do not own GLEE or any of it's characters. Glee belongs to it's creators and FOX.

Ch. 21

Sam followed Frank's motions as he stretched out Quinn's leg, normally Puck came to Quinn's PT sessions but he had to go to his little sister dance recital instead. Sam didn't mind he liked helping Quinn and sports was one thing he was good at, actually he was really enjoying this, Frank told him why they were doing every stretch and exercise, it was interesting, maybe he could become a physical therapist.

"That's far enough Sam." Frank called Sam's attention back to Quinn her face scrunched in pain.

"Oh sorry, can you feel that Quinn?" Quinn didn't talk about her recovery much and Sam was curious as to how things were progressing.

Quinn shrugged, "I can't feel it in my legs if that is what you are asking but I can feel the pull and strain in my lower back and the top of my butt."

Frank smiled next to them, "Quinn's regaining feeling nicely in her lower abdomens and…" he winked and waggled his butt causing Quinn to giggle.

"That's great Quinn!" Sam released the stretch with Frank and then helped Quinn sit up at Frank's indication.

"It's alright; at least I can control my pee like a normal person now." Her ton was light but held a bitter edge to it.

"Sam lift Quinn bridal style making sure you support her back as much as possible with your arm, than carry her to the pool and place her on the chair." Frank disappeared into his office. Sam did as he was told and carried Quinn to the chairlift next to the physical therapy pool. Once settled Sam sat himself down next to his legs dangling into the water. "So really how is PT going?"

Quinn rubbed her hand over her face, "Slow, painful, and disheartening. Everyone is so excited that I regained feeling in my lower back and abs but it's, it's not enough Sam." She growled out. "With each passing week it becomes less likely that I'll walk again."

"Hey, hey." Sam shot up from his spot and kneeled in front of her his hands going to her knees. Her hazel eyes sparkled with unshed tears, there was helplessness, hopelessness there as well. It was crushing to his own heart to see her giving up. Quinn Fabray never gave up, she worked hard and persevered through the toughest of circumstance, when others quit Quinn kept going. She needed a miracle or sign soon because she was losing hope, Same couldn't and wouldn't allow this, not after all she did for him when he felt like giving up.

"I know it doesn't seem like it but you are doing so well, you are making progress Quinn." Quinn rolled her eyes and started to turn her head away but Sam stopped her he held her thin beautiful face between his large calloused hands and forced her to look at him, hazel meeting blue. "Puck he brags all the time in the locker room."

"Eww, we don't even…"

Sam shook his head and laughed, "Not about that, perv. No he brags about how strong you are, how amazing you are doing. You are leaps and bounds ahead of where anyone thought you would be at this time. Quinn it's been just barely three months since your accident and two since you woke up from a coma and yet here you are with movement and control in your abs and lower back. Three months ago you couldn't feel anything from you midback down." He sighed and rubbed her cheeks with his thumbs, "Give yourself some credit Quinn, stop holding yourself to an impossible standard. Be proud of where you are of what you have accomplished. Push yourself to do more, but don't expect the impossible, that will only kill your spirit and drive. Its great to strive for excellence as long as its achievable."

Quinn was crying, "But I want to walk, I want dance at regionals, at pr…" She paused.

"At prom." Sam filled in for her. "I know you do, we all would love that, but you need to be realistic while being optimistic and working hard. So let's break this down, what is your ultimate goal?"

He was sitting back now on his knees, the ached a little against the tile floor, and it was uncomfortable but he'd never complain, he'd never take that feeling for granted, not when Quinn would kill to rub her knees when they are sore from kneeling on a hard surface.

"To walk, maybe even run and dance again."

"Good than we shoot for that now lets break it down into check points. To make your goal first you have to achieve mini goals. What is your first mini goal?'

Quinn scrunched her face, "Move my feet."

Sam smiled, "Definitely a check point but what comes before that."

Quinn sighed, "Feeling, feeling in my feet and legs."

"Great, now how do you get that?"

Quinn smiled and leaned towards him resting her elbows on her thighs, "By doing my physical therapy and stimulating my muscles and nerves as much as possible."

"Awesome. So that is what do, and what we focus on. Your nerves working again isn't necessarily completely in your control but you can help as much as possible so we do that, focus on what you can control. That is check point we work towards now. Each time you achieve a mini goal than we focus on the next and before you know it you will be walking."

She didn't say anything at first and then suddenly she was kissing his cheek gently before pulling back, "You're the best ex-boyfriend a girl could have."

Sam laughed, "I prefer best guy-friend. I love you Quinn."

"I love you too Sam and you really are my best guy-friend."

He leaned in and kissed her cheek in return before cupping her face, "And you're my best girl space friend." This caused Quinn to snort in laughter. Together they laughed a moment before Frank came out and unsubtly coughed. "If you're done fooling around." He smiled so Sam knew he didn't really care, "Its time for your first aquatic therapy session Quinn."

Frank pushed a button and Quinn was lowered into the water. Sam sat on the side as watched as Frank explained that water therapy was advantageous to therapy because it took stress of the muscles so they could move easier and more freely but also exerts some natural resistance. The pool would become even more important when Quinn began to regain movement in her legs. Sam loved how Frank said "when" and not "if" because Quinn would walk again it was just a matter of time.
