By the time Lucy even knew it, it was the middle of December. The grounds of Fiore were covered with pure white snow and the weather became real cold. There were sweaters and coats and boots and layers of clothing everywhere. People shivered from the cold but there were two certain people who didn't get affected by the cold as much since Lucy considered them 'inhuman.'
Those two were named Gray Fullbuster and Natsu Dragneel.
"Aren't you two cold of the slightest?" Lucy asked as the three walked down the snowy street while she shivered, hissing against the cold weather. She was dressed in fur boots, a big coat, another hoodie underneath her coat, a scarf, hat, and gloves while the two idiotic boys next to her was still in shorts and short-sleeves.
At least they had some sort of hoodie on top—or else she would have slapped both of them.
"Nope," the two said, popping the p and strolling along downtown. Lucy scoffed and mumbled curse words under her breath before she noticed the bookstore she was supposed to be at, quickly rushing to get warm soon. The teens followed suit but not as rushed, the three seniors warming up in the warm bookstore that had a cafe right in it.
"I'm going to go get something to drink,"
"I'm coming with you, ice-head. We'll be here so hurry and come, okay?" Natsu said as he leaned in and pecked her lips before leaving his girlfriend to do whatever she pleased.
"What are you getting? Do you have extra cash?" Gray asked as he fumbled in his short pocket to grab some money as the high schoolers stood in line. Natsu dug into his pocket also and pulled out a couple of bills, shrugging. "I don't know—maybe a caramel latte or something. Lucy likes that too so I'll just share with her."
"I meant to ask this way back but, uh, do you plan on getting married with Lucy?"
"I don't know," he shrugged as the two stepped forward after the person in front ordered. "We're only eighteen... I guess, I mean, I would." He shrugged once more making Gray roll his eyes. "What if someone else married Lucy?"
"I obviously wouldn't like it but y'know, if she loves someone else... Not my choice."
"Okay, let me rephrase that." The ink-haired male said as he sighed. "What if Lucy was forced to marry someone else?"
"I'll fight for her." He said making Gray nod and step forward, pointing at the board behind the woman. "I would like unsweetened raspberry tea and he would like a caramel latte."
"That'll be 8.67."
"Whoa, wait, I have money—"
"Just think of it like an appreciation present." He said as he paid the cashier, collecting the change as the seniors walked on over towards the place where they had to pick up their order. Natsu furrowed his brows but didn't question it further, the two collecting their drinks to go on over to an unoccupied table.
"Who orders raspberry tea?" He teased making Gray scoff. "Everyone, duh."
"Especially unsweetened tea. What kind of pansy are you?" He scoffed making Gray roll his eyes. "Lucy loves these. That's how I found about this cup full of heaven."
"How do you know she likes those? I didn't even know that."
"Lucy and I had a date a while back—"
"What?! When?!"
"When you had to retake that test in math, Lucy and I went out and got some coffee. She gave me some of hers and after that; I fell in love with this." Gray sighed happily as he rubbed his cup against his face, making Natsu shoot him a look. "You don't take my woman out on dates. That's my job,"
"Hey, I asked for a kiss but she refused."
"Mother—!"
"Hey guys. What are you drinking?" Lucy asked as she came over towards them, a bag full of novels as she sat in-between them. Her eyes trailed towards the cups on to the table and noticed Gray drinking unsweetened raspberry tea, making her smile. "Ooh, unsweetened raspberry tea. Nice choice, Gray." She winked making Gray smirk and look at Natsu who sulked in his seat.
Lucy blinked in confusion and looked towards her boyfriend who sipped slowly. "What's wrong with him?"
"Oh he's just jealous about how you and I went out the day he retook his math test." Gray snickered as Lucy eyes Natsu who angrily looked away making her sigh. "Gray, stop teasing Natsu."
"You know that's impossible."
"At least try, okay? Natsu, come on, stop being such a five year old." The blonde said as she pinched his cheek playfully making him swat her away. "How dare you go on a date with this freak and not with me? It's bad enough we never went on one before but—"
"Then why don't we go tonight?" She suggested stopping him mid-sentence. He turned his head and stared at her until tears brimmed in his eyes, making Gray and Lucy cringe.
"L—Lucy, I'm supposed to be asking you out on dates!"
"N—Natsu..."
"You're so generous!"
"Dear Mavis, help this idiot..." Gray sighed as he sipped on his drink.
Lucy laughed as Natsu cried, leaving Gray groaning in agony.
"First date? Where do you plan on going?"
"I don't know that's why I'm here to ask you about it, Mira. I never asked anyone out on a date or taken them on a date."
"There are plenty of girls you taken out, Natsu! Remember those girls—"
"Please don't remind me." He groaned as he buried his head in his arms, the older female frowning at his behavior. She clicked her tongue in disapproval before leaning forward, the freshman college student sighing as she didn't know why she visited the school or see them when she was so busy.
"Natsu, you love Lucy, don't you?"
"With all my heart." He replied back honestly. Mirajane smiled and nodded in his direction, humming in response. "Then you don't have to worry about anything. Where ever you take her, she'll love it. As long as you're there with her, you'll be fine."
"But—but what if I spill my drink on her? Accidently rip her dress? Break her heel? Pull her hair? Shove her in mud? Kill—"
"Okay, okay, calm down there. What exactly are you thinking, Natsu Dragneel?" The woman scolded as he sighed and buried his head against his arm once more, frowning. "I don't know... I'm just worried."
"About having a date with Lucy?"
"Well, it's our first date. First dates always give the impressions," He explained making her roll her eyes. "You've been together for almost five months and you're saying this will give her the impression of—what? She knows a lot about you already and you already know a lot about her so just relax and take her out to your favorite restaurant then a romantic walk someplace or go to the park—knock yourself out."
"I never asked a girl out before or taken them anywhere—they're the one who plans them. Lucy was the one to even ask me out on this date!"
"Natsu, I told you, go to a restaurant, buy the dinner, take her out on a walk, or go to the movies or whatever!"
"Can we come to your house?!"
Mirajane suddenly slapped the boy upside the head, knocking the poor male cold. "Idiot."
Lucy sat in her room as she tapped her pen on the edge of the desk, trying to think of what to write to her mother while trying to finish her math homework. She also had a date to prepare for but that was at least two hours away... but for some reason, she wasn't nervous at all. She was at ease and knowing Natsu, he could prepare something totally laid back and she'll be fine with that.
The blonde sighed as she imagined a date with her beloved, her heart swelling at the thought.
Even though he didn't ask her personally, she was happy that she was even going on a date with him.
"Just the two of us... together, alone! How amazing!" She squealed to herself as she leaned in and clasped her hands against her chest, her smile wide and proud. "I can't wait to see what he thinks of!"
And as if it was on cue, her phone started to ring making her pick it up and press the answer button.
"Lucy Heartfillia speaking!"
"Hey Luce, uh, I was thinking—how about we have our date at my house?"
"Eh? Your house?" The blonde blinked as she sat up straight, trying to listen to his reasoning. "Well... my parents just left for some business trip and I had no idea about it until they left. So basically I'm saying you should come over to my house and we'll have a slumber party. I'll cook for you and we'll watch some movies—how about it? Wendy went on over to a friend's house so it's just us two. If you don't like the idea we can always go to that restaurant downtown—"
"Natsu, I would love that."
"The restaurant idea or my house—?"
"Your house! That is a perfect first date but I'm worried about something..." The blonde trailed off making the male on the other line gulp and start to sweat nervously. "W—what is that?"
"Well... can you even cook? Because during summer I remember you trying to cook soup for me and uh, that didn't work out well..."
"Oh, erm, don't worry about that. I'll try to cook." He said making Lucy stay silent for a good minute or two until Natsu sighed. "I'll order takeout." He sighed from the other line making Lucy giggle. "Okay, I'll be over soon?"
"Sure thing, babe. See you then,"
Lucy hung up the phone and let out a cry of joy and excitement, jumping up to dance happily.
Her heart was jumping all over the place and her grin couldn't get any wider—what was that idiot even doing to her? If it wasn't for him, she would have been married already and carrying a son to carry on the Heartfillia railroad and she would have committed suicide if she was like that... Natsu really did save her.
Lucy once again, let out a sigh of happiness as she went on over to her closet, looking through her racks of clothes to look for something comfortable but yet cute and sexy. She wanted Natsu practically drooling for her and looking at her instead of the movie... maybe she could wear a dress where that'll show her legs.
But dresses could be uncomfortable and something naughty could happen with that...
Suddenly, her face exploded into a crimson color, imagining the things she could do with a guy like him... what was he even like? Would it hurt? Would he be small or large?
Lucy shook her head right to left as she groaned, trying to think of something else but his body—
"Ahh! Mama, help me!"
—X—
Natsu flipped through a magazine as he was sprawled on the couch in an awkward position, looking through the Victoria Secret magazine that his mother owned. It wasn't like he was trying to get turned on—they didn't affect him in any way—but he was curious and maybe he was a bit too bored waiting for Lucy to come.
He prepared food which was going to be Chinese takeout and pizza and the movies were all sprawled out on the table so Lucy could choose what she wanted. And since his mother liked watching a lot of movies—they owned over fifty.
He was hoping for something scary but he knew Lucy would rather choose the notebook or some other chick flick. He didn't mind it though, he watched the notebook with his mother a least five times thanks to his father bailing out on 'movie night' with her... he tried to get out of watching it all but the grip his mother had on his arm... he couldn't even shut his eyes.
Natsu flipped to the next page as the lingerie section came, making him sit up straight and look at the sexy underwear that he imagined Lucy could be in.
He started getting into it until his doorbell rang, making his attention shift to his door.
He closed the magazine and tossed it on his coffee table before going over to his door to open it. He cleared his throat and opened his door, grinning widely at the person at the door. "Welcome, Luce!"
"Are you okay?"
"What do you mean if I'm 'okay'? I'm perfectly fine!" The male scoffed as his girlfriend gave him a smile and walked into his arms. She hugged him before walking inside, letting him close the door behind her.
"It sure it quiet and lonely in this house when there's nobody but you."
"Yeah, I know. But it's okay because I have you!" He said cheerfully as he grabbed her hand and brought her over to the couch. He made her sit down and sat next to her, leaning in towards the table. "You can choose the movie. I ordered pizza and takeout."
"Perfect! This is a great first date," She said happily making his heart swell in pride. He watched as she picked up a movie that had the title Frozen written on it, handing the film to him. "Let's watch this."
"This is my favorite movie."
"Mine too!" Natsu said in all excitement making Lucy smile widely. "Let's watch it after food—when does the food come?"
"Soon, I hope. I called them after I called you so... soon, I believe." He mumbled leaving Lucy to giggle. She grabbed his hand and sighed happily, the cute grin on her face never fading. "Ne, Natsu?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you stay with me forever?"
"Yeah, of course I will. I promise I'll marry you so just wait for me, okay?" He said honestly as he brought her into his arms, cradling her gently. "I promise I'll always be by your side."
"Even if there are some people opposing it?"
"Even if there are some people opposing it. I'll fight for you,"
With that simple statement, Lucy knew she had nothing to worry about.
a/n: honestly, this is a short chapter but I had nothing else to add to it so I just ended it. xD
