Cupid. Everyone's best friend. If you're looking for love. That's not exactly the case for a hunter. If a hunter were to get hit by cupid's arrow, it shows weakness or compassion. Things most hunters do not show.
In the case of John Winchester and Mary Campbell, it was exactly that. Mary gave up everything for John. Her family. Her job. When Mary died, John gave up everything to get revenge. His family. His job.
But sometimes, Cupids can go rogue. Promise people love when there really was none. The rogue Cupids aren't from Heaven at all. More like demons but not exactly. They took people away from their normal lives and make sure they are ruined.
Today, a rogue Cupid was sent out. The two princesses of hell, being the daughters of Azazel, noticed that one was out. Usually it wouldn't be that much of a deal but this time, it was particularly annoying.
"I sense a disturbance in the Force," Scottie rubbed her temples furiously.
"Nerd," Reyna coughed and handed her a cup of coffee.
"Why aren't you affected?" Scottie asked as she took the mug.
Reyna shrugged, "I just kind of ignore it."
"You broke into the booze again, didn't you?"
Reyna shrugged again.
"You're not even twenty and an alcoholic. What did future me do?"
"Die," Reyna smirked, "and yell at Dean mostly."
"Thank you Reyna," Scottie looked at her sister's hands, "What have you been doing?"
Reyna's hands and fingernails were caked with dirt. Like she had been digging. Out of habit, she started twirling her pendant on her necklace, "None of your business."
Scottie's hand, which was across the table to comfort her sister, retreated. "You've been gardening again."
"Shut up," Reyna growled.
At that moment, Dean had walked into the room, "We think we found out what's causing it."
"Wait," Scottie reached for a piece of paper she quickly scribbled a drawing onto the paper. Her head seemed to almost burst as images flashed in her mind. "Here," she practically threw the paper at Dean.
He took it and looked at it quickly. He blinked at the image. "Do you know what you just drew?"
The drawing was a sketch of Mary and John. A hazily heart and an arrow shooting through it.
"No clue," Scottie hissed, "Do you?"
"You just drew my parents," Dean showed her the picture.
"No way," Reyna took it from him.
"There's something else," Scottie grabbed the paper and flipped it over. She scribbled again.
Dean looked over her shoulder, his eyes wide, "I'm going to get the others." He left and came back with Sam and Cas. Scottie had her head against the table in pure agony, Reyna's eyes flashed from Dean to Sam to Cas in an instant. Dean walked over to Scottie and pulled out the paper from under her hand. Sketched was a picture of Sam, only half finished. An arrow seemed to be pointed at him.
"Premonitions," Sam muttered and looked at Scottie, "What's going on?"
"Someone's screwing up in hell," Scottie groaned, "I think it's a rogue Cupid."
"But the angels all fell," Cas looked at her.
"I don't know," Scottie threw her hands up, "Someone wants to ruin Sam and someone else. Like they ruined your parents."
"No one ruined our parents," Dean stood firm.
"Sometimes," Cas spoke up, "Cupids tend to make the relationships go too far and well, ruins them and their families."
"Why would someone be after me?" Sam looked at everyone.
"Congrats," Reyna smirked, "You're finally going to find a girl!"
Scottie's headache started to ease, "A deadly one at that."
"So we lock him up?" Dean asked Scottie, "We have a dunge-"
"No!" Scottie yelled, "He has to meet her!"
"She's going to kill him!"
"I could too."
Dean sighed, "Do you know where he'll meet her?"
"A cafe," Reyna spoke up, "I can see places, Scottie can see faces."
"Is the cafe here?" Cas asked.
Reyna nodded, "Better yet, the lonely hills cafe."
"How romantic," Dean blinked.
"So what?" Sam looked at his brother, "I go and I see who I fall in love with."
"Of course not!" Dean smiled, "Scottie and I will go with you!"
"I did not sign up for this," Scottie raised her hand.
"It was implied."
"Why don't you take Reyna for once?"
"This time, you'll be able to pick out the girl and the Cupid."
"So what about me and Cas?" Reyna asked Dean.
"You two will have to be back up," Dean told her, "you know in case we find out she kills people."
"Dean, we kill people," Sam said.
"Exactly," Dean looked at him, "You need a girl who will like you for... Whatever."
"Thanks, Dean," Sam rolled his eyes, "I feel better now."
"Question," Scottie spoke up, "Why are you going?"
Dean was quiet for a moment, "I think I should be there when Sam finally meets the right girl."
"And doesn't die like the others," Reyna smirked and took a drink.
Sam, Dean, and Scottie all arrived at the Lonely Hills Café. Cas and Reyna stayed behind because they didn't feel like they needed to come. Not that big of a deal. They could handle themselves.
"Do you feel any 'connections' Sam?" Dean asked with a smirk.
"I don't think Cupids work that way, Dean" Sam rolled his eyes and sat in a booth. He and Dean sat on one side, Scottie sat on the other side.
Scottie held her head in her hands, "Definitely here," she groaned as she started rubbing her temples.
"Well, I'm going to use the little boy's room," Dean stood up, "Just get me some coffee and I'll be fine."
And he walked away, leaving Scottie and Sam alone.
The waitress took their order. No big deal. Scottie ordered hot cocoa while Sam ordered a coffee and a coffee for his brother. No big deal.
"Coffee," the waitress smiled as she poured into Sam's cup. She was a chubby, short lady with black hair tied up and bright red lips. The sight of her caused Scottie's head to hurt. Sam thanked her but as she bent over to pour Dean's cup, the pot dropped from her hands. Scottie and Sam both stood up to help her, but she simply touched both of their arms and said, "No thanks." No big deal.
She muttered something like, "about time."
Dean came back to the table right as another waitress poured some more coffee and gave Scottie her cocoa. Scottie sipped her cocoa as Dean slipped in the booth.
"What happened here?" Dean asked as Sam and Scottie both silently sipped their drinks.
"Did you find her?" Dean asked as the two of them didn't reply.
Sam shrugged, "I don't think she's here, Dean."
"Unless you suddenly have the hots for that waitress," Scottie smirked behind her mug.
Sam glared at her and tipped her mug as she took a drink, causing her to spit it out, "SAM."
He laughed, "I'm sorry, now can we go?"
After they finished their drinks, they left.
"How's that headache, Scott?" Dean asked.
"It's almost as if it was never there," she replied.
Dean hit the brake quickly, "What is that supposed to mean?"
Scottie shrugged, "Maybe it was a misunderstanding?"
"Scottie, you said that my life was in danger," Sam looked at her, "You drew our parents and then you drew me. Something happened."
"Well did you somehow manage to meet someone without me or Dean noticing?"
Dean shook his head, "That could be anyone." He looked back to Sam, "Did anyone touch you and someone else at the same time?"
"No," Sam shook his head, "Well. There was that time the waitress spilled the coffee."
"Who else did she touch?"
Sam didn't say anything, he just turned to the backseat to Scottie. Dean took a moment to realize what happened as his eyes darted from Sam to Scottie. "You're kidding me."
Scottie reached her hand forward and smiled, "Hello, Dean. I'm your future Sister-In-Law."
"Reyna. Cas," Dean slammed the door on Sam and Scottie, "We have a problem."
"What kind of problem?" Reyna asked, "Me and Cas were just doing some resea-"
"Sam met her."
"And?" Cas looked at Dean.
Scottie and Sam walked in the door. Scottie punched Dean in the shoulder, "You know what? I can't help that I was chosen to 'fall in love' with Sam."
Dean looked from Scottie and Sam to Reyna and Cas. Cas's mouth dropped as Reyna burst into giggles.
"This isn't funny, Reyna," Dean growled.
"Sure it is!" Reyna smiled, "You expected him to fall for a girl who sits and looks pretty weren't you? You weren't expecting someone who could actually kill him."
"Didn't you say this was supposed to happen?" Cas looked at Dean.
Dean shook his head and looked back to Scottie and Sam, "You two are not to leave here until we figure out what to do with what happened."
"Really, Dean?" Scottie crossed her arms, "Sam gets me and you want to ruin that?"
"It'll ruin him," Dean barked at Scottie, "I don't need your dramatic life to mix with his dramatic life. Under no circumstances."
Everyone was silent as Scottie walked towards Dean and looked him straight in the eyes, "You think I chose for this to happen?" she laughed a little, "You think I planned it out. You think I wanted to ruin me or Sam or neither? Well you know what Dean? Va te faire foutre."
Scottie walked away, her boots clanking with the metal. Sam looked at Dean and opened his mouth. Dean glared at him and Sam closed his mouth. He followed Scottie.
Dean turned back towards Cas and Reyna, "So? What's the game plan?"
Reyna and Cas looked at each other for a moment and sank back to their seats.
"What the hell was that?" Sam asked Scottie as he closed the door behind them.
"He's acting like your father," Scottie had her back towards Sam.
Sam shook his head, "And when did you start speaking French?"
Scottie shrugged, "I learned some in school. Mostly swear words though."
"Why are you acting like that?"
"Because, Sam," Scottie turned towards him, "I'm dangerous. And Dean's right. I could kill you. And frankly, I'd rather not at the moment."
Sam stepped forward, "You don't have to."
"It's destiny," Scottie turned her head as the tears started, "And I'm tired of running."
"We could kill it," Reyna suggested.
"Kill a cupid?" Cas argued, "That's stupid."
"Stupid how?"
"For one, they have no control on who is chosen."
"Alright then smartass," Reyna crossed her arms, "What is your plan?"
"We let them go on with their lives," Cas said.
Reyna and Dean (who was standing behind her) stared at Cas.
"Am I missing something?" Cas looked at the two of them.
Reyna and Dean exchanged glances and then Dean spoke up, "Cas, you die if they stay together."
"What do you mean?"
"He means," Reyna leaned forward, "Demons get to you while Scottie's pregnant and goodbye handsomepants."
"So where were you two?" Cas asked after a moment.
"We fell off the face of the Earth," Reyna replied.
"So it's not true," Cas smiled, "The future's been altered. They could still get married-"
"If Scottie doesn't die," Reyna corrected.
"-and then live their lives," Cas finished, "Unless, you don't want them to be happy."
"Of course we want them to be happy," Dean said, "But-"
"But what?" Cas stood up, "They could easily live their lives normally without monsters and demons or they could continue on?"
"Are you kidding me?" Reyna scoffed, "Their first date would be in a bookstore."
Scottie sat on the bed with Sam's head in her lap, "You know what?"
"Hmm?" Sam looked at her as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"Why don't we run away?" Scottie smiled, "Screw them. We don't need them."
"We kinda do."
"We can take care of ourselves." Scottie's smile disappeared.
"Yes, living off of baked goods is the best way to survive."
"But they are planning on ways to kill that cupid."
"It still won't change anything," Sam sat up, "I'll still care for you."
Scottie laughed, "It's funny."
"What is?"
"You were Lucifer's vessel. And I," she laughed again, "I'm the princess of hell. My father killed your mother. Your brother killed my father. Funny isn't it."
"You have an odd sense of humor," Sam laid back down.
"We are not letting them just go on," Dean sat down in a chair.
"And why not?" Reyna groaned, "It's the best option we have."
"Like you said before, Scottie could kill Sam and vice versa."
"There is something," Cas didn't look up, "I read about it once."
"And?" Reyna looked at him.
"It's an… easy recipe," Cas sat forward.
"What does it do?" Dean glared.
"Reverses Cupid's spell. But I can't guarantee it'll work."
"What is it, Cas," Reyna dug her nails into Cas's hand, "We need it. Now."
"Are you sure we're not making a lemon bread recipe?" Dean asked Cas as they set the candles down on the quilt.
"Like I said," Cas sighed, "I cannot guarantee it'll work."
"Well, let's do this," Reyna sat down on the floor criss-cross-applesauce, Dean and Cas followed shortly after.
Reyna took over and started mixing the powder. She flung some of it into the flames as Cas muttered the incantation. After that was finished, Reyna started mixing the liquid and repeating the incantation. She poured it into two glasses. She handed the glasses to Dean.
"What is this?" Dean asked.
"According to my reading," Cas sat up, "They each have to drink every last drop of the two potions."
"So for all I know, I could actually be poisoning my brother?" Dean asked and then thought for a moment, took the glasses and walked towards Scottie's room.
"Knock Knock," Dean said as he knocked loudly on the door then turning the handle, "Future Brother-In- WHAT."
Scottie and Sam were in the bed, well, kissing. And other things. Scottie rolled off of Sam as soon as she saw Dean, "Dean!" She fake laughed, "What are you doing here?"
"Just giving you two some drinks," Dean grasped the glasses, "What the hell are you two doing?"
Sam and Scottie looked at each other for a moment and then looked at Dean. Dean rethought his phrasing, "What the hell are you two thinking?"
"We gave in, Dean," Sam sat up a little, "Pardon us."
"She's eleven years younger than you Sam," Dean set the glasses down, "You first met her when you were seventeen!"
"Dean-"
"And you!" Dean pointed at Scottie.
"What, Dean?" Scottie adjusted the sheets to cover herself up a little more.
"You couldn't even get laid with Garth!" Dean rubbed his face, "Or the Impala! Why did you think Sam would be the best option?"
Scottie opened her mouth to argue but ended up just enjoying Dean's rant.
"Cas is going to die," Dean yelled, "You're going to die. And it's not like you even try to stay normal. You're probably wondering the best way to run away without people noticing you. But guess what, everyone will, Gwen."
Scottie sat up a little more, "Did you just call me Gwen?"
"As a matter of fact. I did. What are you going to do? Shoot me for trying to get you to live a normal life? Then do it."
"Gwen is what my father called me," Scottie growled, "After you killed him, the number of people who called me Gwen reduced to zero."
"Your father was possessed by Azazel."
"His name was Lewis Woodhill. Not just some other bastard demon. He was my dad. And you didn't save him. I've suffered long enough. Let's not forget, Reyna disappeared for a goddamn month when we heard he was dead. And who killed him? None other than the guy who stood up to protect me and my sister from getting killed at the age of 4 and 5. I'm sorry for trying to enjoy my life with Sam while I can."
"Scottie, calm down," Sam rubbed her shoulder as Dean's jacket turned into flames.
"You think you can just convince people because of what you can do?" Dean yelled louder, "You're a killer, and there's no way around it."
The clock that hung on Scottie's wall stopped at 5:31 and Scottie quickly pulled on Sam's shirt that was laying on the floor. She stood up with her eyes a bright yellow instead of their usual greenish blue. She slowly held up her hand and Dean was pinned against the wall.
"Scottie!" Sam yelled, "Stop!"
She made no sound and just lifted Dean off his feet while he was still pinned.
"Dean?" Reyna and Cas ran in.
"Scottie?" Reyna asked as she and Cas watched her lift Dean higher and higher. With a single wave of her left hand, the door closed in front of them and locked.
"YOU BITCH!" Reyna yelled as she jiggled the doorknob.
Sam stood up and took a deep breath, "Gwen, stop this."
"Listen to him," Dean groaned, he was now on the ceiling.
"Dean didn't mean anything he was saying," Sam walked towards Scottie, trying to reason with her, "He wants you to be safe."
"Safe from what?" Scottie barked, "The biggest threat to me is him!"
"Guinevere, please just stop this. He won't bring harm to you. We promised you and Reyna. Remember?"
Scottie brought her hand down, but Dean stayed on the ceiling and his stomach began to cut open. She blinked and her eyes turned back to their normal color. She blacked out and fell into Sam's arms. At that same moment, Dean fell from the ceiling and the door unlocked.
Sam looked at everyone, "Is everyone alright?"
Reyna nodded, "How is she?"
Sam looked down at her, "Gwen?" he shook her, "Please wake up. Please."
