A/N Hey people, guess who? Anyways I'm done with High School, so more time for my new novel, another story, and First Contact. (And maybe some Battlefield 4 here and there) Anywho enjoy the crew of the NX-16. Next stop; the last soldier.
July 29, 2156:
Orbit of Kesprytt II:
Security Officer's Log, July 29, 2156: fifteen hundred hours. The NX-16 has received high levels of radiation emanating from the nearby planet Kesprytt II. A war has been waging on Kesprytt III between the Kes and Prytt Alliance. We have been warned by the Kes government that the planet we are about to venture upon has been at the forefront of the war. We can only hope that the situation cools off when we arrive.
Major Conner Kent sat on a silver container with his particle rifle stripped in front of him. Several other MACOs were also readying their weapons. The call had came in that a small force of Kes and Prytt soldiers were duking it out at a missile center near Pretac industrial center. Already the war had destroyed most of the surface, leaving many dead. The USS Justice was suppose to patrol the local moon and prevent weapons from being shipped to the planet from Kesprytt III. The main mode of transport were both shuttle pods. M'gann and Lieutenant Crock are to transport medical crews and supplies while Commander Grayson and he are to transport the MACO and Starfleet security forces. Wally was still wounded from the last mission and thus he was confined to quarters for the time being. Kent's weapon was done being polished and the troopers began moving towards the hangar bay. Suddenly the entire ship shook, while alarms blared through out.
"All senior officers, please report to the bridge. Priority one." The captain's voice rung through the ship.
Without hesitation Major Kent dashed to the nearest turbolift. Passing a few levels, the door opened to the bridge. At first everything seemed normal, but as Kent approached the tactical station, he then noticed that the view screen was brown. The green planet that had been on screen, was now scorched with a huge crater where a base use to be. The realization then came to Conner, the base was destroyed.
"Captain," Ensign Zatara, "I'm no longer reading the 500 lifesigns. Sir, the facility is completely destroyed."
Kaldur'ahm's expression appeared calm and relaxed, yet the worry grazed his eyes as he stared at the viewscreen. "Scan for survivors. There has to be someone who was hiding in the subterranean structure." He stood up from his chair to think about the situation.
It took several minutes for Zatanna to even reply, "Confirmed. Two survivors, both in critical condition." It was difficult to understand if the ensign was relieved or fearful of the situation.
The relationship between the Kes and Prytt people were chaotic at best, and the Prytt people were extremely xenophobic. If it turns out it was the Justice's fault, there would be a major political incident between the Coalition of Planets and the Kesprytt people. Kent researched the possible outcomes of the situation. Discussing this with Captain Kaldur'ahm, he found that there was a possibility that an event like this could happen. However he never believed that such an event could transpire. Now before Major Kent laid 498 slain people, all for the stupid notion of gaining the upper hand.
"Ensign, lock unto their signatures and perform a direct transport to the medical bay." Kaldur then crossed to his chair to press a button for the intercom, "Bridge to medical bay, prepare for wounded. We are beaming up two surviving Kesprytt."
"Understood, Captain. Medical Officer Mo'rzz out." The intercom clicked off, ending the order.
"Major Kent."
At this point Conner straightened himself as any soldier would to his commanding officer. "Yes, Captain."
"Bring a security detail to the medical bay, set weapons to stun." Kaldur finished.
"Sir, yes, sir." Without any further hesitation, Kent walked back to the turbolift and headed down to the medical bay.
The situation looked grim to M'gann. Never in her years at Starfleet Medical had she seen such radiation burns as bad as this. Normally the most effective treatment was to place the victim in the chamber to rid the body of radiation poisoning. However the cuts and burns needed instant medical attention before the body could be placed in the chamber. Also she never had to deal with two people with similar injuries at the same time. Calling over to the nurse, M'gann began grabbing as much regenerative tools as she could carry.
"I need twenty CCs of morphine, now!" She called to her nurse.
The nurse grabbed a hypospray from a drawer and pulled out the morphine to place in it. As soon as he was finished loading the hypospray, he then handed it to M'gann to use.
"Ugh, I'm losing him. Virgil, how's the other patient?"
"He's ready to enter the chamber," Virgil called back, "I'm placing him in there now!"
Virgil pushed the table over to the medical chamber and activated the control panel. "Detox in 2 minutes, M'gann hows-?"
"She's dead," M'gann interrupted mournfully, "I lost her to the radiation. Her body couldn't sustain it."
Just then Major Kent and two security officers walked into the medical bay with weapons drawn, however all three stopped when they saw M'gann cover the dead Kesprytt with a sheet.
"M'gann?"
"We lost the patient, Conner. She was the only Kes left and now," the medical officer took a second to think, "Now we only have one witness left. A Prytt."
The situation seemed to grim now. Having a xenophobic and anti-alien aboard the vessel was now a threat to the crew and to the investigation committee in the Kes capital. In no way was the Prytt prisoner going to spill the information on the battle down below, especially now that the sole Kes survivor has died. Kent looked to his flanking officers and ordered them back to the armory.
"What are we going to do?" M'gann spoke at a low whisper.
"We need to tell the captain. We need to fix the situation." Kent reminded her, "I'll inform the Captain. Can you stabilize the patient?"
M'gann shook her head, "That's like asking a fish if it can swim. Of course I can, but I can't assure you the patient will be happy about the arrangements."
"I'll send a security officer, and M'gann," Kent smiled faintly at his girlfriend, "You did alright."
M'gann smiled back and watched as the Major walked out of the medical bay and towards the turbolift. At that moment they knew that this pandora box of trouble had only just been opened. It was only a matter of time if the war between the Kes and the Prytt would transpire to include the NX-16, Starfleet, and possibly the whole Coalition of Planets. War loomed on the horizon and Major Conner Kent was now watching it come to the very airlocks of the USS Justice.
A/N Tada! So? What did you guys think? Too much? Too littler? Just right? I have no idea, but maybe if you guys review I would have an accurate gauge on what you guys like. Whatever your thoughts I would love to hear them. Now I must be off. I have stories to write and a soldier on Battlefield 4 to rank up on the PC.
