Fifteen-…And Finally End.

Marceline flapped her large, leathery wings to pick up more speed. She had shifted into a large, bat-like creature as she raced on toward where her Simon would be. A silvery, iron chain dangled behind her, showing the way home.

She flapped her wings ever harder, for she was getting closer to her destination. A large, icy whirlwind raged in the distance before her. Large clouds let out thick snow and frigid wind carried it far and wide, along with, impossibly, the sounds of maniacal laughter and twin voices of panic.

She was soo going to give that chicken shit Kalfu a piece of her mind after this, this was his realm after all. Peppermint too.

A distance away from the raging Vampire Queen, far below in the epicenter of the snow storm, two mortals souls trudged with all their might through the snow. Doing their best to survive. Beth kept Simon behind her, blocking the icy arrows thrown at them from above. Ullr kept to the clouds, his laughter and presence anywhere and everywhere.

The rope around her waist was taunt behind her, the dark being using his power to hold them there. Blocking their escape. She hoped it would be strong enough to not snap, then they'd both be doomed.

Simon curled his icy hands into fists, hope and anger boiling hot within him.

'It was not supposed to be like this!' He thought angrily.

'This shouldn't be happening. She shouldn't be here, I shouldn't be here. I've had enough! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!'

Suddenly he was yelling, pushing his way around a surprised Beth.

"YOU HEAR ME?! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! SHOW YOURSELF YOU-YOU ARCHAIC, A-ABOMIDABAL, MOTHER FUCKER! AND FACE ME!"

The laughter died for a moment, and then seemed to redouble in volume. Within a moment a large pair of legs materialized from out of the clouds, a torso followed with long arms that swept the snow and fog that clung on behind like a heavy cloak. Finally a head emerged; the nose was long, the teeth like a shark's, skin of deep icy blue, hair and beard made of snow, and large, white eyes of the void stared at them.

Ullr towered above them.

"I am here Simon. It is good we come face to face before I finally get rid of you!" He boomed.

The Mad God had emerged, and it was terrible. The very soul of the hardest winter stood before them and in his hands he held another, large arrow at the ready. Neither of the mortal souls could move, for they were too struck by terrified awe. They could not escape.

"Say hello to Death for me!"

"Tell him yourself!"

A large, bat-creature emerged from the clouds and rammed right into Ullr. The two crashed heavily to the ground, throwing snow everywhere. Beth and Simon were knocked over, the two half tumbling, half running away from the small avalanche of snow and debris.

Simon had recognized the voice.

"Marceline! Marceline!" He yelled from his position on the ground.

The clouds dispersed and revealed the two giants wrestling mightily with one another.

"Not you again! You are strong, but I am a GOD! I will consume you! Just as I have done to countless of your brethren in the past Queen of Monsters!" Ullr laughed as he threw Marceline off of him and rose to his feet.

Marceline growled as she herself got up and let out a large screech, her wild hair flared around her.

"You're nothing but an old spirit who has long overstayed his welcome! I can't destroy you, but I. Will. Take. You. Down."

With that Marceline, Queen of the Vampires, Heir to the throne of the Night-O Sphere launched herself forward. Magic and anger fueling her.

Simon couldn't believe the spectacle before him, he rose to his feet and began making his way forward. He couldn't just leave Marceline! But before he could even take more than a step arms wrapped themselves around him and he was suddenly being dragged back rapidly.

Beth had a hold of him, she was taking them back to the land of the living with the help of the rope.

"Let me go!" He yelled. "I can't just leave her!"

"I'm sorry Simon, but this will only help her! We must weaken the bond between your body and Ullr! To do that you have to go back!" She yelled over the roar of the wind as they were dragged back.

He turned away.

"Marceline!" was the last thing Simon yelled before he was consumed by a bright light.

Marceline took a large gasping breath after returning to her undead body. She shook and valiantly tried to stand, breaking off the sheen of ice that had frozen over her prone form, and would have crashed to the floor had a warm body not caught hers. She had no time before a pair of pink, sugary lips were on hers.

They were warm, and soft. And perfect.

All too soon the sweet moment was over and Bubblegum was yelling, and crying, and yelling again. Clutching her tightly in her deceptively slender arms. The vampire was too tired and cold to argue with the treatment, yet. She would be lying if she said she hadn't missed it. The old closeness.

An exhausted Huntress Wizard and King Cedric watched on, having not left their posts for the ceremony. Marceline watched as the two collapsed to their knees, their gasps audible.

They had obviously been there the entire time, not moving from their positions within the design. And were now completely spent. She nodded to them in silent thanks.

"Bonnie, Bonnie it's alright. I'm alright, see?" Marceline needed Bubblegum to calm down, at least for now. After everything was settled Marceline would then take the time to properly comfort the sugary monarch in private, and hopefully get some more of those kisses she loved.

She tenderly held Bubblegum in her arms as she composed herself. Turning to Huntress Marceline asked, "Did it work? Is he back?!"

There was no one else in the lab other than themselves.

"No one's sure, Beth's awake but he's still dead to the world, last time we heard; but the old man's looks have changed."

"Changed?!"

Could it be?

With sheer force of will- and some help from Bubblegum-Marceline got to her feet and the whole group made their way to rejoining the others. She felt so drained, she would have to drink a lot of red after this.

As they moved Marceline asked questions.

It had been three days, by the end of day two Ice King had finally settled. Seemingly going into a catatonic state, but visible changes were obvious. His beard was shorter, greyer. His skin was taking on a more brownish, purple color. His nose shrank, though was still pointed and longer than normal.

He actually felt somewhat warm.

But he had not woken, so no one was sure exactly "who" would wake up. Marceline hoped for the best. The others burned with questions of their own but Marceline's only responses essentially boiled down to "God thrashed, details later."

When they made it into the infirmary Marceline made a bee line for the bed that had a penguin, holding the dimmed Ice Crown, waddling around it. The only other occupants were a battered Peppermint Butler, who stood near the door, and Finn, Jake and Lady Rainicorn; they sat around a not too far away bed, where Beth lay sedately.

Huntress went straight to her as Cedric sank into a chair and Marceline drank in the sight of Simon with only a fraction of the Ice Crown's influence.

Bubblegum sat her in a chair near the bed and the vampire reached out and grabbed the old man's hand. She wrapped both her hands around his and simply sat, looking at him for a moment. Everyone watched her sadly as they settled into the infirmary.

"Simon please come back…" She pleaded softly.

"…well…since you asked so nicely." Came the just as soft, and much raspier reply.

"Simon!?" She rose, energy seemingly restored. Tears pricking her eyes.

Simon Petrikov looked tiredly at her, wan smile revealing teeth just slightly sharper than normal.

"The one and only." He answered, holding out his arms for her.

The Queen of the Vampires wasted no time in enclosing the older man in her own arms and bawling like an undignified baby.

"I thou-thought that I'd never see again!" She nearly blubbered.

Simon did his best to sooth her.

"It's okay, I'm here now. Thanks to you."

Bubblegum smiled, she was happy for Marceline and for herself. One less Wizard- a crazy one at that- and one more scientific mind in the world. And now Marceline had regained someone she had lost.

Everyone cheered.

Bubblegum only hoped that the change would last.
