I'm on fire today!

After dropping Kurt off at his apartment Santana drove around for a while trying to get her thoughts in order.

I told Kurt, now I really can't back out. It's in the Universe now so I have to stick with it…. But I haven't told Papi yet.. I can still back out!

Maybe I don't want to back out… maybe I want this.

No I don't I want to spend the rest of my twenties getting hammered and spending money…

.. Okay so I guess if I don't do this I won't have any money to buy booze with.

That's settled, I'm doing it! But I'm going to do it my way! Yeah, I'll let Papi think he's in control. After all this is his master plan to try and control me. Well Antonio, Santana Lopez cannot and will not be tamed!

With that thought Santana reached into her bag and yanked her phone out.

To Brett: Are you still in LA?

Not even a minute later she got a reply.

Oh, fast response. Attentive, I like.

From Brett: Yeah, I'm at my hotel. My dad left to go play golf but I didn't go. I hit a squirrel last time I tried to play golf and I don't think the squirrels family would appreciate me back. To soon.

To Brett: Uhm, ok. I'm picking you up be ready in fifteen.

From Brett: Cool!

Santana sighed as she hoped on the onramp to the freeway. The kid was weird that was for sure, but it was incredibly endearing.

….

Brett was outside talking to the hotel valet when Santana pulled up. He seemed so engrossed in his conversation that he didn't see her pull up. Her sure heard her though when she honked, scaring the crap out of him and his, apparent, new friend.

When Brett managed to compose himself he quickly said goodbye to the valet and rounded the G-Wagon hoping in the front seat.

"Hi!" Brett said with a smile that made Santana swoon.

Being stuck with him won't be THAT bad. I mean, arm candy, hello.

"Hey" Santana smiled back.

They sat there just smiling at one another until a knock on the window broke them out of their trance.

Santana glared at the valet.

"Sorry Mr. Brett… and his friend, but you're blocking the valet line." The boy said.

"Oh, no problem Ryder, we are just leaving….I think.." Brett said glancing at Santana.

"Uh, Yeah we're leaving. Bye" Santana said rolling up her window in the valets face.

They had been driving for ten minutes before Brett spoke up.

"So where are we going?" He asked looking over at the woman next to him who seemed extremely focused on the road.

"My house." She replied.

"Oh, okay cool! What are we going to do there?"

"Well we are going to tell my parents we're engaged." Santana said never taking her eyes off the road.

"We're engaged?" Brett questioned.

That caught Santana's attention.

"Well yeah, I mean what did you think me telling you LA has a good dance scene meant?" Santana took off her sunglasses and looked over at Brett incredulously.

In that moment Brett was thankful that they were on the highway and Santana would be forced to stop glaring daggers at him.

"I mean, I thought you were just stating a fact. I send people cat facts all the time." Brett said in his defense. He really was confused.

"Okay, that's random. But anyways, are we going to get married or not?" Santana shook her head before turning back towards the road.

It took a minute for Brett to respond, and it was making Santana surprisingly nervous.

"Yeah I guess…." Brett responded casually.

Santana breathed a sigh of relief.

"But don't say were engaged yet." Brett continued.

"Well when people agree to get married, they usually are use the term 'engaged'" Santana said back.

"Yeah, but I haven't asked you… I mean it's a modern world so you could ask you, I'm all for women's rights… sorry, I'm rambling. Anyways we can't call ourselves engaged until we do it properly. I do need to get you a ring after all. You deserve a beautiful ring with a nice dinner and flowers, although that's a bit quiche, I'll come up with something totally cooler. You don't need to get me one though, a ring that is, I'm always loosing stuff. Last month I lost a portable X-ray machine…" Brett said trailing off not even noticing they had arrived in front of the Lopez Mansion.

Santana just turned the car off and studied Brett who had just said one of the sweetest things she had ever heard. He wanted to do this the "proper" way even if it was just a business deal between their fathers. It left her feeling something she had never felt towards anyone before. She didn't know what it wasn't bad.

When Brett had finished talking and took a breath Santana leaned over and put right hand on the blonde's knee squeezing it, earning her Brett's attention.

"Okay, so we aren't engaged." Santana said with a reassuring smile.

"Yet." Brett amended her as he put his hand on top of hers.

Somehow this man had charmed his way into Santana's life, and she wasn't at all mad about it.

Hope you liked it! Let me know
