Hey guys! So...I know you're upset about NOT having Fang and Max together, but it's all part of the story. I hope you guys like this chapter...:) Oh, yeah...and also, if you read Percy Jackson fanfics, check out my new Percy Jackson one called 'Iridescent'. Thanks for reading!

We did get detention. Well, Mr. Shock, my second period teacher, did suck. Nudge told me that her second period teacher, Ms. Molly, had also giving her detention via text messaging.

"Blah blah...Light dependent reactions...blah blah...Calvin Cycle. Max, could you repeat what I said?"

"Huh? What?" I asked, waking up from my morning doze. My table partner nudged me, shoving a piece of paper at me. "Uh, you said that the Light dependent reactions take light and use that to turn water into oxygen, which is a waste product. And, for the Calvin Cycle, carbon dioxide creates the product glucose," I said quickly, reading off the paper.

Mr. Shock gave me a pointed look before continuing to drone on about photosynthesis processes. I turned to my table partner. She was average-height with luscious dark brown hair and piercing brown eyes. I thought her name was Alisha. "Uh, thanks, Alisha."

She smirked, shaking her head. "No, it's Nisha. You're welcome. There's a reason why you don't blank out," she replied in a clipped tone. She turned away, attention fixed on the lecture board. I rolled my eyes, annoyed. "Next time you don't have to help me, then, Alisha. I could just go ahead and get detention," I said.

Nisha glared at me, realizing I had purposefully said her name wrong. "Do you have short term memory? My name isn't Alisha," She said venomously.

I snorted.

"I'm sorry, honey. I meant to call you 'total bitch'."

She gasped, eyes narrowed. I was being a mega ass, but she was deserving it.

"What is with you friends of Maya? Always being so awfully mean. I mean, I already knew Maya was horrible, but you! I helped you out, and this is what I get in return?" She asked in a stunned tone.

I paused. "Whoa, whoa. How did Maya even get into this conversation?" I asked, confused.

Nisha held her chin up, looking red. "Well, she's the bitch that stole Dylan away from me! He was mine from the start, but then she came along, ruining everything."

She ranted on, and I just stared at the odd and delusional girl.

I shook my head, sighing as I saw the clock tick to its last second of class, Then I rushed out, leaving Dylan's secret admirer behind.

Gosh, the girl seemed crazy. Not at first, no. But now she did.

The rest of my morning classes flew by, and I ran to lunch, excited and starving. "Hey, slow down!" a senior yelled, sporting a sweat-stained jersey, a football under his arm. I ignored him, continuing to run before he yanked me by the arm and stopped me. I glared, tugging, ready to kick him. "Hey, you better apologize, kid, you almost made me-"

He fell silent, eyes bulging, letting me go.

"Max? Maximum Martinez?" He asked, gasping and searching my face. My eyes widened as I took in his features. Those familiar dark brown eyes and the shock of light brown hair against his tan skin. He had grown up tall and strong, yet I could still recognize him, just with some slight altering and more chubby baby fat on his face.

"OH MY GOSH, ARI BATCHELDER?" I asked, screaming.

We hugged each other quickly, doing our old secret handshake. Back at home when I went to school with Ari, he was just one or two years older than me, and we had been the best of friends. We even had our own secret hand shake and private 'hangout'. (It was nothing big, just a giant piece of cardboard against the side of his backyard gate.

"We haven't talked in a super long time!" I cried, grinning and slapping him on the back. He grinned back, fist-bumping me. "Yeah. But we were neighbors and eight and ten at the time, so it makes sense that we couldn't text and shit," He replied, nodding.

"Hey! You have to talk to my friends right now during lunch. They're going to love you. You haven't changed a whole lot, right?" I asked. He shrugged. "Dunno. But I'll skip for you guys. I have stupid Physics with Dr. Zhang, anyway."

I grinned, dragging him along. "That's the spirit! Let's move, bro ho."

He raised an eyebrow. "Bro ho? Are you crazy, Max?" I smiled, tugging him to our lunch table.

"Ta-da! Hey, guys, this is...OBFFWIWE," I said, introducing Ari. Fang looked up, raising an eyebrow. "What the hell does that mean?"

"It means 'old best friends forever when I was eight. His name is Ari." I replied. The group got along fabulously with Ari. They talked and joked with him as if he was an old friend.

Suddenly,, Fang got up, an annoyed look in his eyes. "Max, can we talk?" I looked up, smiling. "Sure, what's up?"

His eyes narrowed. "In private."

"Whoa, Max, are you really going with him?" He asked abruptly, stopping me. Fang glanced over sharply at Ari, glaring. "Yes, Ari. You're not my freaking personal body guard."

He frowned, nodding, acting like a protective older brother. "All right, sister. Do what you want." I nodded and followed Fang to a quiet area.

"Seriously, Max? Sometimes, I honestly don't get it. Do you just really hate me? You've been ignoring me the entire lunch. And, you bring that Ari guy who acts like your...whatever. Did I not ask you out yesterday?"

"You did," I replied calmly.

"Well? What's the answer?"

"I...I need to get to know you better. A little more friendly hangouts. I'm not really used to dating people," I replied.

Fang gave out a loud sigh. "What the fuck, Max. You don't have to treat me like a baby. Just reject me, already! I'm tired of waiting on you to make the move. It makes me nervous and jittery. I know you're lying. I mean, you've dated Sam. And who the hell knows who was before that. Max, just tell me the fucking truth."

"Hell no. I don't hate you. It's just a coincidence that I met ARi again today. I'm sorry that I didn't talk to you. but if I'm your girlfriend, you have to learn to deal with me. Don't cry about everything. Then, I'll totally dump you. I'm serious. Nudge told me to give the friendship thing more time, and so I'm listening to her. It's not her fault that I'm listening to her. I just am because I don't want to rush things and Nudge has had more experience with these things. Okay? Tell me it's okay. And that means not going off to date other people," I said.

He blinked.

"Okay. But the same goes for you. I'm sorry. You're right. We shouldn't rush it."

I nodded, shrugging. "So...how about we meet up at the cafe and just hang out? We can do whatever."

A cocky smile spread across his face. "We could...play Spin the Bottle?"

I slapped him, laughing.

"Oh my gosh, no, Fang!"

"Well, my offer's always open.

That's it! Hope you liked it. Next chapter coming up.
