Chapter 5
A certain woman

"Gibbs, there was nothing to be found at their hotel room. Certainly not the gun, we looked everywhere," Ziva said through the phone. Tony was driving them from the hotel where Holmes and Watson stayed to Riddle's house. They had done a check for any useful material at the hotel, but nothing had turned up. He really hoped their next stop would be more successful. Ziva promised to call Gibbs as soon as they had any news, and hung up. Five minutes later Tony parked the car in front of a small house.

"Ziva, look what I found," Tony said from the other side of the room. She moved to his side and found him looking at a photo. Riddle was on it with a woman. "He had a girlfriend," Tony concluded.
"She seems nice," Ziva said.
"Look if we can find out who she is."
Ziva nodded and disappeared into the bedroom. Tony took the photograph and took another look around the room.
"Tony, I found his laptop," Ziva called a minute later from the other room.
"If we let Abby do her magic, I'm sure there's some useful stuff on there," Tony said. "We have too much crazy detective and too little clues for my liking."

"Gibbs, Abby ran the woman in the photos on Riddle's laptop," McGee told his boss when he entered the bullpen. After Tony and Ziva had returned, Abby had found more photos on the victim's laptop.
"Meet Irene Adler. A British woman, concerned in a highly classified case a month ago and got herself into a witness protection scheme." Tony said.
"We think she was Riddle's girlfriend. She may have some connection to Mr Holmes, since she is British too," Ziva suggested.
"We should have a talk with Holmes again," Tony said.
"Then go, DiNozzo."
Tony's face lit up and he pushed some photos in his file before heading to interrogation.

Sherlock sighed when Tony came in. He looked away while the Special Agent took a seat. He had better things to do than sitting here, waiting for those simple minded humans to ask their questions.
"Let me guess, you found some new clues and want to know what I know about them, right? The gun. The woman."
"Yes. Wait, how do you know?"
"Once I've eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
"You've seen Star Trek then? Didn't think you were the type."
"I did not steal that from Star Trek. The producer stole it from me. Long story, not relevant right now. Let's get this over with."
"Have you ever seen this gun before?" DiNozzo handed him a photo of the army gun.
"SIG Sauer P226R. I've seen enough soldiers to know one, not to mention John."
"Doctor Watson has one?"
"He was an army doctor in Afghanistan, you blind man."
"I'm not blind. You know where it is now?"
"In his drawer in his room. He would not take it on a plane journey."
"Did you ever use it?"
"It's John's gun, why would I?"
"Because you lead a dangerous life."
"Yeah, I did, once or twice. Never actually shot anyone though."
"What did you shoot then?"
"The wall, the sky, an apple once."
"You shot the wall?!" Tony exclaimed.
"Yes, I was bored and the wall asked for it."
"I suppose that's something you'd do. Alright. Do you recognise this woman?"
Sherlock looked at the photo the Agent shove towards him. How did she get herself involved in this?!
"Of course, Miss Adler. How is she involved, she died a month ago. John and my brother think I don't know, but of course they can't hide that kind of thing from me. Certainly John can't. Told me she's in a witness protection scheme, even put that in her file." The Agent looked surprised, but then showed him another picture, of the victim with Irene. "Ah, I see. So she did it again. I'm sure you are going to ask John about her, and I can assure you that I did not feel for her like she did for me. John might think differently."
"How did you get to know her?"
"That was my brother's doing again. Asked me to help. I assured in the end that her information didn't get out. Cannot tell you more about that. It got her killed in the end."
"Do you know who killed her?"
"Yes, some gang of eastern morons. Execution style. I know you think you have enough for now. Bye!" Sherlock said happily. Tony looked a little surprised, but got up.
"We will have to speak to you again. Stay put."
"Where would I go?" Tony heard the consulting detective mutter before he closed the door.
