Perfect Stranger
Chapter 11
Now I Know Why
Disclaimer: I do not own The Powerpuff Girls. But I do own the plot/story line because I made that up with my brain. No copyright intended.
"What the hell, Brick?! Are you trying to piss me off?!" I yelled at him once we landed behind some abandoned building.
He chuckled, "You look sexy. This all for me?" he inquired, eyebrow raised leaning over me.
I swatted his hand from rubbing my arms, "No. I'd never dress like this for you." I spat at him.
"Oh? Bummer." she said smirking in mock disappointment as he pinned me to the wall.
Damn it! Why am I always pinned to a freaking wall?! He then grabbed my legs and wrapped them around his waist much to my protest.
"Hey! What gives you the right to touch me?!" I yelled at him irritated.
"Well, your not-not letting me touch you..." he trailed off showing me that stupid smirk that I'd love to just slap off his smart-ass face.
"That's because your so damn possessive over me." I snapped.
He stopped running his hands down my legs and looked at me scowling, "Well, maybe I wouldn't have to if you weren't so damn stubborn about liking me the same way I like you." he told me, crimson-red eyes staring at me.
"Why do you?" I asked really wanting to know.
I've always wondered why he would ever like me of all people. I mean does immortal enemy mean anything to him? He looked caught off guard.
"I don't know, actually. I just do." he answered looking more confused that I ever seen the always 2 steps ahead ruff.
"Well, it's gotta be something. I mean you don't just wake up one morning and decide to be obsessed for your immortal enemy. Is it something I did, said, anything? That triggered some feelings for me?" I asked.
He scuffed, "Yeah, okay." he muttered.
"Hey, I'm only trying to help..." I mumbled trailing off.
"And that's why I like you so much. Your will to help anyone good or bad. Your always wearing a smile even around people that do you wrong. I admire you, Bubbles. It's the plain truth. And that admiration turned into love." he explained.
My eyes widened at the word 'love'. H-He loves me?
He chuckled at my reaction, "Yes, you heard me right Bubbles Utonium. I love you." he said smiling.
Genuinely smiling, no leer or smirk in sight. A real smile. One I find is rare.
"Love happens, Bubbles. You don't choose who you fall in love with, it chooses you. And my heart chose you. It chose you Bubbles Utonium." he confessed, voice rich with honesty and passion.
I almost feel guilty for not returning his love. But then I remember Blaze and I know where my heart lies. With him. Always.
"B-But..." I trailed off not knowing what to say. For once I am at a loss for words.
Mustering whatever courage he had left he kissed me.
"Brick." I mumbled against our kiss.
He stopped looking at me questionably.
"I-I'm sorry. I can't." I told him, looking him in the eye.
"Your really in love with that faker?" he questioned.
"His name is Blaze and yes, I am. Like you said, love happens. You don't choose who you fall in love with." I quoted him.
He let go of me and stepped back, swearing. "Damn it." he muttered.
I looked at him questionably.
"I should hate you. I really should for giving your heart to anyone but me. But I can't hate you. Your impossible to hate. And I hate that I can't hate you. Look, I want you to be happy. Really I do. And if you can't be happy with me then I want you to be happy with someone who can." he said then sighed.
"Brick? What are you saying?" I asked him, taking a step forward.
He sighed, "I guess I'm saying that I'm done trying to force my feelings on you. It isn't fair. I'd rather not exist than lose you. And if you ever need someone. Well, you know where I'll be." he told me, holding my head in his hands.
I leaned my head against his hand, looking up at him in gratitude. He brought my close and kissed the top of my head, staying there for a few moments. He let a few tears touch my hair then he stepped back. I pulled him back down to me for a kiss. When we pulled apart I've never seen so much hope in his eyes before.
"It's just for a thank you. Nothing more, nothing less." I told him.
"A kiss is a kiss, I'll take what I can get." he said with his usual smirk.
"I guess I'll see you later, Brick." I said with a small smile.
He returned with a smile of his own, "I won't give up on you, Bubbles. One day, you'll learn to love me." he said smiling.
"Oh? You sound pretty confident about that." I teased.
"Yeah, I am." he said then he took off. I smiled after him.
"Bubbles!" I turned and looked to see Blaze come to me. I had the strangest feeling to just laugh without knowing why. I smiled at him,
"Yeah?" he looked at me confused.
"Where's Brick?" he asked.
"Oh, he left." I said like it was obvious.
"H-He just left. He didn't try anything with you." he asked cautiously.
I shook my head with a smile, "Nope. He just left." I told him.
He raised a skeptical eyebrow and looked around as if Brick would come out of the shadows and attack him. I giggled at him paranoia.
"C'mon, we have to send those punks back to where they came from." I said with a smile, taking his hand and flying off with him chuckling behind me.
