Ok new chapter for all you wonderful people. I'll be honest and say the first part of this chapter I'm not too sure of, so let me know what you think.
After a couple of hours driving Trunks settled down in one seat content to watch the different scenery pass him by. Goten, however, bounced around the bus looking out the windows. "What's that?" he asked pointing at the large grey dog-like animal standing on the edge of the small wood. Vegeta looked out the window to where Goten was pointing, "That's an okami. There're considered as bothers to the Saiyans. I remember a story my father once told me about them." Trunks and Goten both climbed over to where he was sitting and looked up at him excited, they had both come to love the stories he and the others told about their heritage. Sighing Vegeta continued, "It was said that when The Goddess first arrived on this planet with our people they were greeted by an okami. Seeing the distress the Saiyans were in he offered them part of his kill and took them to a sheltered valley where they could stay. Once he saw them settled the okami went to fetch his mate, cubs and the rest of his pack, bringing them to the valley he had shown to the Saiyans. Leaving his mate and cubs behind with some of the Saiyans the okami took the other Saiyans and taught them how to hunt on this new planet. The king and the okami created a special bond between them, for the Saiyans and the okami are very similar. Both live in packs and mate for life and like Saiyans when one mate dies the other follows soon after. Seeing this and after being on a few hunts with just the okami the king gave him the name loyal. With the help of loyal and his pack the Saiyans were able to build a new kingdom for their new planet."
"You know it's kind of funny you told that story Vegeta it reminds me of a newer story about the Saiyans and the okami." Raditz said from where he was driving. Goten brightened, "will you tell us the story uncle?" Raditz laughed and nodded, "is Kaida sleeping?" Trunks looked to where his friend's sister was resting, "yep she's still sleeping but why does that matter Raditz?"
"Well, Kaida doesn't think much of this story, so I'll have to be quick. Not too long ago a young okami was kicked out of his pack for being too violent, he was a good hunter despite his young age but took things a little too far when his pack fought off other packs. Around the same time in another pack a young female was pushed out of her pack. Now while Saiyans and okami are similar in many ways the okami are still animals and they do not like members of the pack that don't look the same. This female was not accepted by the pack because of her colouring. The two okami meet up and lived together for a time. As it also happens there were two young Saiyans that returned home around the same time, unannounced and unlooked for by their families. The first creatures they meet upon their homecoming were these two okami and it was not a pleasant meeting. Now you have to understand that because the okami are our brothers no Saiyans with honour would ever fight them with ki, only strength and skill. This is what happened when the four meet. The battle was long and eventually considered to be a draw. After the battle the Saiyans tended to the wounds of the okami before their own. The male Saiyan gave the female okami the name Asinis, for her fur was the colour of dried blood. The female Saiyan named the male okami Kira which means killer. The four bonded together and it was said that there had not been this type of bond since the first king Vegeta and Loyal."
Kakarot was starting to get bored and his ass was going numb. Now I know why Kaida wanted to fly there instead. I do have to admit it has been nice being able to see more of the planet, which wouldn't have really been possible flying. Gods! I hope we get there soon. Kakarot chuckled silently to himself when he realized the Saiyan gods had replaced Dende, even in his head. Looking out the window he saw the outlines of what appeared to be a town. Turning around he looked for someone to ask about it, only to realize there was no one. Raditz was driving, Kaida, as far as he knew was still sleeping and Vegeta was busy with the boys on the other side. Sighing Kakarot gave up knowing anything about the town when he felt the seat beside him dip under some ones weight. "That's Koen." Kaida said quietly. Kakarot looked at his daughter's reflection in the window, "I thought you were sleeping." She smiled at him, catching his eye in their reflection, "I took a shot nap earlier and have since been meditating." Kakarot rolled his eyes, "Hn." Childishly she stuck her tongue out at him. Kakarot turned and made a motion to grab her tongue and Kaida snapped at the offending fingers causing them both to laugh. They settled down and watched the world pass by outside. Every now and again Kaida would quietly tell her father about some feature they saw. They spent the better part of an hour like that until they passed a huge compound.
Trunks and Goten climbed over the chair in front of them to get a better look. Even Gohan moved to get a better look, "That's huge!" he commented looking hopefully at Kaida, wanting more information. "That's Shido. It's the largest military base on the planet. It can house up to 50,000 warriors at one time, has a massive training center for both ki training and non-ki training. It also has a large black smith shop to make and fix all the weapons."
"Wait," Kakarot interrupted, "what weapons? I didn't think Saiyans used weapons." Kaida twitched her tail, "normally we don't…but…all warriors are trained to use them as a precaution. You never know what might happen off planet."
"What do you mean? What could happen that could actually make a Saiyan use a weapon?" Gohan asked looking very interested. "I've been to a planet where…" she thought for a moment, "where…the magnetic field actually interfered with my ki, not to sure how but it did. Other planets have ki blocking technology that creates a field around the planet. Those are places you really don't want to be without some kind of backup. The use of certain weapons also marks a person's rank. Only warriors are taught to use them but even then they are only taught to use daggers, short swords and blaster guns. The higher ranking elites are taught to use other weapons like the mace or bow and arrow. Only the royals are taught to use a long or broad sword."
"Wow! That's so cool." Goten exclaimed. "Kaida," Trunks asked, "how many weapons do you know how to use?" Her tail swayed like a pendulum while she thought, "Seven…maybe eight. I'm not sure." Trunks and Goten shared a look and asked, "Do you know how to use a sword?" The other three Saiyans laughed and Kaida nodded, "Yes I do. DehDeh taught me when I was little."
"That's awesome! Do you thin…" Trunks' question died out as he looked out the front window. The others, noticing his gaze also looked out the front window and all conversation died as they took in the sight. Vegeta placed a hand on his son's shoulder, "That's Niwa."
Niwa is garden in Japanese, Shido is seed in Japanese and Koen is park in Japanese. Okami means wolf in Japanese.
I am once again suffering from a bad case of writers block, so hopefully I'll be able to update next week, but I make no promises except that I haven't given up on the story, it just might take a little longer to update.
