Stan got a call from the hospital on a cold Monday night, November 10. It had been two months since the Trent Boyett confrontation, and he was trying to forget what had happened.

"Trent's alive. He woke up from his coma this afternoon." said the receptionist. Stan immediately called Kenny. "Trent's alive. But he shouldn't be a threat." Butters, Wendy, and Kyle also got the message. All knew they had acted in self defence, and were glad Trent was alive. Cartman was mad, and said to Butters: "He tried to kill us. He DESERVES to die." Butters, in a rare moment of anger, replied "Shut up, fat ass. No 19 year old deserves to die."

After Trent was discharged from the hospital on December 12, he was immediately taken into custody by the police. The trial began on Monday, December 15. Everyone but Butters, who was grounded by his dad for misplacing an item in his kitchen pantry, attended. Also on trial was Kenny, to determine whether the door panel hit had been self defence.

Trent's lawyer advised him of the seriousness of the situation. "You're an adult now. No juvenile hall for you. If they convict you, you go to real jail." Trent put on a tough face, but inside he was terrified.

Trent first tried the innocence technique. He argued that it had been a simple car wreck. "It was an accident. I was trying to change lanes and the car went out of control. I was borrowing the car and taking it out for a spin."

Cartman rebutted: "Trent Boyett is a liar, sir."

The judge agreed. "Yes he is, Mr. Cartman. Trent, your rap sheet is already very long. You burned your preschool teacher at age 4. You burned her again and committed numerous acts of assault at age 9. At 14, you tried to kill these young men here. Every time you're released from jail you commit violent crimes, and I believe this time is no different."

Trent tried "temporary insanity", but was rebuffed by his history. Once the six took the stand, Trent's case fell apart. In a feeble attempt to go free, he alleged that the boys had a vendetta and attacked him. The judge didn't buy it.

The trial continued for three weeks. On January 8, the jury reached verdicts for both Trent and Kenny.
