I realize this probably wouldn't have happened but it's Amy's dream.
Freshman Year- 2009
It's been two months since I've seen Ricky. Now as I walk down the hallways for the first time I'm scared to see his face. What do you say to the pig you gave your virginity to then never spoke to you again. I walk up to Madison and Lauren talking amongst themselves. "Amy are you okay?" They asks.
"Just fine, nervous I guess." I lie to them. "I will catch up with you guys later." I say as I see Ricky out of the corner of my eye. A tall scrawny boy says hi as I walk down the hallway. I stand in the background as Ricky talks to the head cheerleader Grace Bowmen. I could hear exactly what she was saying, something about a church event after the game. She walks away cheerfully and I walk up to him. I was ready to let him have it but I stood there shaking like a deer in the headlights.
"Oh hey, Amy isn't it?" He asks nonchalantly. "Hey, I'm just kidding. You don't think I could ever forget that night we spent at band camp do you?" He asks.
"Maybe, you didn't seem to care about me after I gave you what you wanted." I say silently. "You manipulated me and stole my innocence with your twisted words." I say.
I must have really hit home with something because he pulled in a deep breath and his face turned red. He turned away from me and walked out of the door. "Hey, French Horn, what did you do with my boy friend?" A Majorette named Adrian asks me as she walks up mad.
"I'm sorry," I say quietly. "I didn't know he had a girl friend." Tears start welling up in my eyes.
"Just stay away from him for now on." She snaps a me. The entire day I couldn't help but think about what happened between us. I get home and sit down for dinner with my family. My parents are griping at Ashley about her choice in clothing. Then then phone rings interrupting the argument and bringing on a still of silence.
"Hello," Ashley answers the phone. "It's for you." She says looking at me. I walk into the kitchen and could only think, God I hope it is not Ricky.
"Hello," I answer timidly.
"Hi, Amy, it's Ben Boykewich, from school. I don't know if you remember me." He says.
"Yes Ben, I remember you." I say smiling. "Why are you calling?"
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go to the dance with me tonight after the football game. The church is hosting for the school." He says.
"Sounds good." I say. So we go to the dance and everything is how it should be.
February 6th
The day John would have been born
I walk down the street near the diner and catch a familiar face through the window. I walk in and walk up to Ricky. "It's Ricky right?" I ask trying to be snarky like he was. "So we haven't really talked at all since school started." I say sitting across from him. He turns his head away. "I haven't seen you at school lately... Are you okay?" I ask him.
"You were right." He says plainly looking out of the window.
"What do you mean?" I ask a but confused. "What was I right about?"
"On the first day of school you said I stole you innocence. You were right, Amy I manipulated you into sleeping with me. We are lucky that's all I did. I could have ruined your life or something worse. I'm sorry," he says almost in tears. "No one deserves to have their innocence taken from them. If anyone would know it would be me." He says.
"What happened?" I asks. He sits there silently ignoring me. "Ricky, I now we don't really know each other but if you owe me something it is honestly." I say.
"What do you want Amy?" He practically yells. "To tell you that my father sexually abused me and stole my childhood. Or that my mother is a crack head. That I'm in the foster system because they screwed me up!" He yells and storms out.
Later that night when I am sitting on the couch practicing my French Horn the doorbell rings. "Can I help you Officers?" I ask the two tall police officers that were standing there.
"Are you Amy?" The officer on the left asks. They both take off their caps and look at me.
"Yes, I'm Amy. I'm confused, did I do something wrong?" I ask them.
"No Miss Juergens, this evening a class mate of yours was found dead in his bedroom. This letter was in his hand, his mother asked us to bring it to you." I grab the letter and he officers leave.
The envelope had my name and address printed on it neatly. I opened the envelope and pulled out a hand written note inside.
Dear Amy,
I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused you. I know that I can't be forgiven for what I have done. After all that I have been through and all that I have done its best to rid the world of someone so hateful and viscous as me. Please don't blame yourself for this. You just told me what I needed to hear. I will never hurt anyone ever again. Goodbye, Ricky.
I scream and pop up awake in bed next to Ricky. "Amy are you okay?" He asks as he turns towards me.
"Yeah, it was just a bad dream."
