The final chapter of Frozen III: The Coming Storm is here. There will be a one shot after this, though.
Epilogue: No Rest For The Wicked
Nine Months Later...
Kristoff ran through the halls of Arendelle Castle with a small blanket in his hand. He was in a huge hurry. He couldn't be late at all. This was arguably one of the most important days of Kristoff's entire life. He could never forgive himself if he missed the grand event. In a few minutes, Anna was going to give birth to a baby and Kristoff would become a father.
Growing up, Kristoff never thought that he would eventually become a father. He didn't believe anyone would allow him to be a dad since he grew up with the trolls and had little to no interaction with the world outside of the troll community. But, after meeting Anna, he knew that one day he was going to raise a child. Anna had wanted a baby for so long after they met. Kristoff did his best to try to avoid the topic as he thought he didn't want to be a dad. But, now Kristoff was sure he wanted to be a dad. He was ready for anything.
The following months that Anna revealed her pregnancy was not easy for her. She had a few mood swings here and there, and she was really picky for what she wanted to eat as well. But, everyone tolerated her as they knew what Anna was going through. Elsa and Olaf was delighted to have a new member of the family. Kristoff, on the other hand, was scared at first. He almost had no interaction with a baby before. But, as the months went by, he tried his best to learn how to be a father. Hopefully, that paid off. Kai had a feeling he was going to be a bad influence on the baby, and he was unsure whether or not he wanted to be around it often. Elsa luckily promised him that she would help him with everything.
Kristoff almost forgot where his own room was. He knew that Anna was to give birth in Kristoff and her's room. He also knew that Elsa, Kai, Olaf, and even Sven were there as well. Unfortunately, Eugene and Rapunzel could not be there to witness the birth of the baby since they were back home in Corona. Rapunzel did promise to visit the baby sometime after it was born, though.
Servants were all around the halls, cleaning the castle. That didn't make things easier for Kristoff at all. He had to be careful not to bump into anyone as that would both make a mess and delay him.
"Move out of the way!" Kristoff yelled. "I'm going to be a father!"
When Kristoff heard the screams of Anna, he knew he was getting close. He looked over at one door in the hallway he was in and instantly recognized it as his own. He ran to it and slammed the door open. He then found himself in his large room, a large triangle window shining the morning sunlight into the room. Anna was laying on her bed that was set on the side of the room. Her legs were spread and bent. A large blanket covered her lower body. Only the male doctor that sat in front of Anna could see her "business".
Elsa sat on a stool next to Anna's bed. Anna held onto Elsa's hand very tightly as the pain was excruciating. Olaf was standing on the bed, standing next to Anna's body. The two of them were doing their best to comfort her as they knew what she was going through was not easy at all. Sven stood in a part of the room where no one occupied, looking over at Anna, the doctor, Elsa, and Olaf. Kai stood in front of the large triangle window with his arms crossed and back facing the others.
Kristoff ran to Anna's side immediately. He knelt next to Elsa and put his hand on Anna's shoulder.
"You got this." Kristoff assured his wife. "Besides, it can't be that bad."
"Have you ever given birth?" Anna asked Kristoff, weakly, then followed by an aching scream.
"No." Kristoff answered.
"THEN YOU HAVE NO IDEA!" Anna screamed. She then let out another haunting scream and squeezed Elsa's hand as hard as she could.
Elsa clenched her teeth do to the pain Anna was causing her. She tried not to show pain as she knew what was being inflicted on her was nothing compared to what was happening to Anna.
"Just remember to breath." Elsa said.
Anna opened her mouth and took a wide breath. She then breathed it out calmly. Se then repeated the same process over and over again, each time a little faster than the last. It didn't seem to reduce the pain Anna was in at all, but she still continued to do it. She needed to focus on something else beside the pain.
"I'm going to need you to push some more." The doctor told Anna.
Anna did as the doctor said. She made one more push, as hard as she could. Sweat trickled down her head. She couldn't imagine doing this more than once. The pain was too much for her to handle. But, if her mother could do it twice, then so could she.
"I always thought babies came from a stork which brought them down in baskets." Olaf said.
"It's not that easy." Kai said, hearing Olaf's comment from where he was standing.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Olaf asked Anna.
"Yeah..." Anna said, panting. "Help by getting this baby out of me quicker."
"Okey dokey." Olaf said. Olaf then carefully walked over next to Anna's legs. "Get out of my friend, kid!"
"Olaf," Elsa said, "I don't think that's going to work."
Anna then let out one final scream at the top of her lungs. After that, a beautiful sound was heard. The sound of life. The cries of the baby echoed throughout the room. Kai turned around and walked over to his friends, knowing that it was done. Anna panted heavily, glad that she endured through the pain.
"I can't believed it worked." Elsa said to Olaf.
Elsa then turned toward her sister and Anna looked up at her sister as well. Both smiled at each other, happy to welcome a new person to the family. Anna even shed a tear. Anna loved children, and now she had one of her own. They tried to associate the sound of a crying baby with happiness.
Kristoff then stood next to the doctor to see his new baby. The baby had blood all over it like all babies do after they're born. Anna put down her legs and rested them.
"It's a girl." The doctor said.
The doctor then handed the baby to Kristoff standing next to him. Kristoff held the baby very carefully, making sure that there was no way the baby was going to drop. Although she was still crying, he smiled at her and was adored by the sight. He now had a daughter and was officially a father.
Kai looked over at the baby from where he was standing. He smiled and his eyes began to redden.
"I promise myself I wouldn't cry." Kai said. "So I won't." Kai blinked his eyes and the red in them instantly disappeared.
Elsa stood up from where she was and walked over to stand next to Kristoff. She looked down and smiled at the baby, astonished by how adorable it actually was. Elsa was now officially an aunt, and Elsa promised to be a better aunt than she was a Queen. This baby was going to grow up and learn from everyone's mistakes.
"Let's get you cleaned up." Kristoff told the baby.
A few hours later
Kristoff and Anna were sitting on their bed, their backs leaning against the wall. The baby girl was asleep, wrapped in the blanket Kristoff brought, and in Anna's arms. Anna and Kristoff stared in awe at the adorable sleeping girl. Together, the two had made a beautiful baby. The baby, like Anna, was officially a princess of Arendelle.
The baby had features from both parents. She had Anna's glittering blue eyes, and she had Kristoff's blonde hair although it was very short. The perfect combination of the two were in this baby.
Elsa sat on her stool on Anna's side of the bed, looking at the baby with warm, loving eyes. The breaths of the baby girl were so soft from her small little nose. Sven was sitting at the corner of the room, watching his friends happy. Olaf stood at the edge of the bed, looking at the couple silently. Kai stood next to Elsa with his arms crossed, looking down at his future niece. They had to be as silent as they possibly could as they wouldn't want to wake up the child. That didn't mean they couldn't talk.
"Have you decided on a name yet?" Elsa asked, silently.
"Kristoff was so sure that if it was a boy, then it would be named Kristoff." Anna said.
"It's a good name." Kristoff defended.
"No way." Anna said. "But, it's a girl so luckily she won't be named Kristoff."
"Then what will you name her?" Kai asked.
Anna then thought about it. She highly doubted any good ideas could come out of Kristoff. She knew that she was on her own in the decision. She welcomed the others to suggest a name, but they figured that it would be best if only the mother and father decided. Anna then thought about what the baby will be to her. Anna knew that when things were their darkest, she could look at her child for the light. The girl will be Anna's torch in a dark place, and Anna knew what name meant that.
"Lena." Anna said. "I want to name her Lena."
Anna looked up at the others to see what they thought. Not a peep of disapproval came out of anyone, even Kristoff.
"Lena?" Kristoff said. "That sounds great. Princess Lena Bjorgman of Arendelle."
"The full title won't be necessary." Kai said.
Elsa chuckled and looked up at Kai. "What's wrong with it, Yeager?"
"Let's just stick with Kai, okay." Kai said. "But, yeah, Lena is good."
"It's a very pretty name." Olaf added.
"Okay." Elsa said. "Lena it is." Elsa then put her hand gently on Lena's body, affectionately. She was thrilled to have a new family member. Anna and Elsa's parents would've been so proud of them. If only they could see them now. Elsa hoped that her parents were watching this from somewhere. This was a moment they could not bear to miss.
"One day, you'll be just as brave as your mommy and daddy are." Elsa told the baby.
As if the baby could understand and hear Elsa, Lena smiled.
"It's..." Kai said, trying to remember the word he wanted to use. He would never usually say it since he was so hardened, but, perhaps Lena softened Kai up a bit. "Adorable." Kai continued.
"She's adorable." Elsa corrected. "I'm glad she'll be there at our wedding in a few months."
"Me too." Kai said.
Kristoff put his arm around Anna and rubbed her shoulder. He then leaned in and kissed Anna's head, proud of what the two had accomplished. This was just the beginning of a beautiful future. A future, hopefully, without struggles. A future where they all could live happily together and no harm could come to them. It was all of their jobs to protect the baby, and that was a goal they intended to keep.
"She's got your eyes." Kristoff told Anna.
Anna giggled. "Of course she does. Hey there little princess."
Then, the door to the room was knocked on. Everyone turned their heads toward it. They have requested to not be disturbed after Lena was born for a few hours. Whatever someone was knocking for, it better be important. They all wanted to spend Alena's first hours with her, so an interruption would not be welcomed.
Kai walked over to the door seeing as how no one else was going to get it. He opened it up to find a castle guard standing there.
"Captain!" The guard said to Kai. "We need you now! There's trouble!" The guard spoke very quickly. Kai noticed how he was panting.
"Shh." Kai told the guard. "Now, what's the problem?"
"Down at the docks." The guard said. "There was a ship that just came that was claimed to have been transporting sugar."
"Yeah?" Kai said. "And?"
"Well," the guard said, "I don't think there are any sugar in them."
"Do you not see what you are interrupting?" Kai asked. "What makes you so sure they're not sugar."
"Well, for one thing, I'm sure sugar isn't transported in large, closed wooden boxes." The guard said. "Also, I'm sure sugar isn't supposed to shake and make muffled screams. Plus, what kind of people transport sugar and carry swords?"
Kai's eyes widened, getting an idea of what was essentially happening. He then showed a determined look on his face. "I'll be down there in a second." Kai said. The guard nodded and walked away, knowing his part was over and knowing it was Kai's turn to do some work.
Kai then turned back to the others who heard the entire story and knew the situation.
"You can't leave." Elsa said. "Not now."
"I'm sorry Elsa, but duty calls." Kai said.
"The guards can handle this." Anna said. "Spend more time with us and Lena, please."
"I have to do this." Kai said. "The guards are probably not trained for this, but I am."
Before Anna or Elsa could speak their mind, Kristoff interrupted them with words of his own. He knew Kai wouldn't leave them unless he absolutely needed to. He trusted Kai to get the job done, whatever it was. It didn't bode well, and he could trust Kai to put a stop to whatever this was.
"Let him go." Kristoff said. "Kai's got this. I'm sure he'll be back as soon as possible."
Kai and Kristoff nodded at each other.
"I promise, I'll back before you know it." Kai said. "You just need to let me go."
Elsa and Anna had to out their faith in Kai one more time. They knew that he would do his best to not disappoint. Anna rested her case, hoping that Kai would get the job done as best he could. All that was left was for Elsa to give her okay. Elsa was much more stubborn in situations like these than Anna was. But, Elsa knew something had to be done about this predicament. The best might as well be sent down.
Elsa nodded at Kai, giving him her okay. Kai turned around to walk away, but Elsa halted him by calling his name. Kai turned around to face his fiancé again, confused as to why she was stopping him.
"I just want to know." Elsa said. "Why are you always throwing yourself into danger in the name of good?"
Kai smiled. "I'll tell you why." He then pulled up his face mask which over his mouth and nose. He still wore his face mask even when wearing his Captain of the Guard uniform.
"No rest for the wicked."
Many months back... A few days after Kai's final confrontation with Deren...
Deren lay on the beach of an unknown island. His back was facing the sky and his front body was on the sand. His arm was extended above him. Miraculously, his body found itself from the ocean to a random beach. It was probable that he was at the shore of a country.
Deren had no breath nor did he have a pulse. The last time anyone ever saw him, he was dead. The lightning struck his body and electrocuted him. But, he was not scarred. Usually, one would be greatly scarred when struck by lightning, but Deren was not. He was an exception for some reason. How could his body not show any signs of being electrocuted like that. Was it because he was stronger than most? Or was it meant to be? Perhaps Deren still had a larger role to play.
At the tip of his fingers on his extended arm, a blue spark of electricity quickly appeared and disappeared. Deren then shot his head from off the sand, his arms supporting his torso up. He took a deep breath as if he had just emerged from water. He then took many quick but large breaths, trying to function normally. The last thing he remembered was the pain of being struck by lightning, but after that, he blacked out.
"How did I survive?" Deren asked himself. He then looked at his hands which her supporting his body off the ground. He found that blue sparks of electricity were dancing all around both of his hands. He let out a scream and flipped over on his back. The electricity continued to surge throughout his hands with no signs of stopping.
"What happened to me?!" Deren asked himself. He then closed his eyes and clenched his fists in hopes of the electricity going away. When he reopened his eyes, they were gone. He studied his hand further and found no blue sparks in it at all.
Deren then got off the sand, wobbling as he did it. He felt as though he had not walked in a long time which was true. He then looked down at his hands once more, puzzled by what happened to them. Deren flicked both of his hands, and the electricity came back. This time, Deren could feel them as if he was one with them. He willed them to go away, and they did as he commanded with his mind.
"I... have... powers?" Deren said to himself. "This is new."
He then willed them back on his hands, and this time, he didn't flick them. The blue sparks appeared once again. Deren then moved his hands closer together until his palms were touching. When he broke them apart, a stream of electricity was formed in between his hands. When he flicked his hands, the stream became much larger. He did not want to make them bigger. That just told him that he needed to learn how to control his newfound powers.
He then willed them to disappear, and they did. He then flicked his right hand as hard as he could. Electricity streamed throughout his entire hand. He had a feeling that if he touched someone with it, it would hurt... a lot. It was funny how what was suppose to kill him made it stronger. Although he didn't know how he got his powers, he wasn't complaining.
Deren reminded himself of his number one goal.
"Watch out, Kai." Deren said. "Sometimes, you need to fight fire with fire. And sometimes, you need to fight fire with something stronger."
The End
To be continued in the sequel, Frozen: A Sky Of Shadows, coming September 2014.
Author's Note: First and foremost, I would like to thank Pabulover123 for suggesting me the name Lena through a PM. I found that I liked it very much.
Thank you all for the support I have received for this story. You guys have no idea how much your support means to me. The main reason I make fics is to get my ideas out there and it thrills me knowing there are those who support my ideas. I came up with both Phoenix Fire and The Coming Storm in my head while riding a bike. I wanted to ler my ideas out in the world and I chose fanfiction as my method.
I love my cliffhanger endings. The next story will probably be published near the end of the month as I decided I needed a short break from writing. I also promised you guys a one shot in this story, and that'll be posted very soon so please continue to stay tuned.
F.Y.I., a short sequel to Frozen titled "Frozen Fever" was officially announced. It's suppose to take place on Anna's birthday post Frozen. Just wanted to let you guys know.
I've put together a little trailer/preview for the next story here. It is only a series of quotes that may or may not be put in the actual story. These quotes are almost not original and are based off of movie and video game quotes. The whole purpose of this "trailer" is to get you guys hyped for the next story. So, here you go.
Ciao.
Elsa: Kai and I grew up believing the world would never accept us, but one day, it would need us.
Anna: One day, I'll remember... remember everything. The good. The bad. Those who lived... and those who did not.
Elsa: Kai? Is everything alright?
Kai: No, everything is not alright. Things have never been the same for me since the ice palace. Everywhere I go, I see Cade and I'm reminded of my failure. I also need to spend the rest of my life protecting the one thing I can't live without. That's you. Elsa, I can't sleep. I can't remember the last time I've had a good nights rest. Yeah, sure, I have everything a man can ever ask for. So, why can't I sleep?
Pabbie: Did you think you got your powers by luck? No. It was destiny.
Lilith: I'm here to ask you for your assistance.
Deren: Not interested.
Lilith: It includes revenge on Kai.
Deren: I'm listening.
Deren: You think you're untouchable? I'm here to shatter your illusion. You wanted to be the hero. Now you're going to pay the price.
The Epic Conclusion...
Lilith: Wakey Wakey.
Kai: Who are you?
Lilith: You don't remember?
Kai: No. I can't remember anything at all, actually.
Lilith: Good.
Anna: Sometimes, bad people use the people who love the most in order to get to us and hurt us.
Pabbie: Friend on friend, at the end of the end.
Lilith: Only the strongest can resist this magic.
Deren: Can Kai resist it?
Lilith: We shall see.
Kai: Do not think I won't kill you, girl. It would be my pleasure.
Anna: Kai?
Anna: Don't touch my daughter!
Elsa: What is wrong with you Kai? I thought I knew you...
Anna: Elsa, this isn't Kai. This may be his body, but something dark has taken over. Kai would never do anything to hurt us... ever. He's not himself, that's for sure.
To InfiniteAssassin's Frozen Phoenix Saga
Pabbie: There are dark days ahead of us. Are you prepared for them?
Elsa: I don't know what I'm prepared for anymore.
Elsa: Kai! Please stop! I don't want to hurt you! We know each other!
Kai: Stop lying to me!
Elsa: You're my friend!
Kai: You're my mission!
Elsa: We can't give up now. Not when everything is at stake. So, what do you say? Will you follow me?
Kristoff: This is monsters and magic and everything I was not prepared for... But, I'll follow you.
Lilith: I'm going to turn off the light, and I'll remake the world in my image. A world shrouded in darkness. A world without light. A world without rules. A world without hope. A world without heroes. Darkness shall rise.
Elsa: What did you do to Kai?!
Lilith: What did I do for Kai?
When Things Are Their Darkest...
Kai: Get out of my head! Get out of my body!
Dark Kai: This is my body now!
Kai: Not if I have anything to do about it!
Pabbie: The darkness shall come, from one who's not hallow. The world will soon plummet, in an eternal shadow.
Kristoff: What the heck is that?
Anna: I don't know. It looks like a-
Olaf: DRAGON!
Olaf: Hey there little baby. Oh, look at that! I got your nose. I got your nose. Agh! Let to of my nose! Let to of my nose!
Who Can They Count On?
Kristoff: Okay, so here's the plan. We get to the top of the mountain and make some noise. Hopefully, the dragon will notice us and come to us. That's where we jump on and ride it back to it's master.
Elsa: We're not doing that.
Kristoff: Why not?
Elsa: Because it's dangerous and stupid!
Kristoff: You just want to suck the joy out of everything.
Lilith: Who do you think you are?
Anna: You said it yourself, bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy... Wait, that doesn't sound right.
Elsa: What if it's a trap?
Kristoff: It's undoubtedly a trap.
Elsa: Why don't you just kill me?
Deren: You're still needed. And besides, your punishment must be more severe.
What happens when Elsa's strongest ally becomes her strongest enemy?
Frozen: A Sky Of Shadows
The beginning of the end. What will prevail? Light? Or darkness?
Darkness shall rise under an eternal shadow. Darkness shall rise under a sky of shadows.
Anna: I'm not asking for much, but we need all the help we can get. So, what do you say? Can we manage just one more journey? Just one last time?
Elsa: Okay, Anna. One last time.
