"I'm going to have to call you back" The woman said.

"And may i ask why you are looking for Mr. Bass?" The woman asked with an amusing smirk twitching on her face. It was like she was in on a joke that Miriana knew nothing about.

Miriana pulled out the the manilla folder that was in her bag. Although the bag now felt lighter, she felt as though a whole new weight had been placed on her shoulders. Nerves were eating her up, and she was chewing on the inside of her check. It was a habit she had been doing ever since she could remember.

"My name" she then cleared her throat "My name is Miriana. Im looking for Chuck Bass because I have some important documents to be signed. And he's the only one who can sign them."

"Why is he the only one who can sign those papers?" the woman inquired.

"Because they have to be signed by someone related by blood." I reply quickly. I wasn't planning on sharing this much information with a complete stranger.

"What do you mean by blood?" She asked.

"We share the same father."

POV Miriana

Of course she wasn't going to believe me. Why would I ever think that a woman like her would believe a kid like me. And now she thinks I'm crazy. After I told her that little tidbit of information, her face went blank. She sat me down at the kitchen table, handed me a glass of water and excused herself.

I turned around and saw the woman talking on the phone spitting words out quickly. Scary thoughts entered my head. All of these events reminded me of the last time I was in New York. I was young and the memories are vague but I know I've been here before. I know I have seen her before. A chill goes over my body and down my back and I try to just focus the glass of water that was sat in front of me only moments ago.

The woman hangs up the phone, walks over to the table and kneels down next to me.

"Okay I going to need you to be honest with me, ok?" The woman asks.

I look up from my water and at the painting on the wall, slowly I nod.

"Ok, whats your name?" She asks.

"Miriana. And what's your name if we are being totally honest?" I reply.

"Its Lily, Lily Bass. I'm Chucks adoptive mom." she takes a moment "I was married to Bart. Now you have this folder, and it contains lots of information regarding Bart. What you are saying has very serious reprimands for lots of individuals. I need to know that you are 100% sure. Where did you get those papers from?"

"I got them from the files in my boarding school in Paris. They are in a filing cabinet. Everyone has a folder about them" I reply quickly.

"Wait Paris, then how…" She couldn't finish her thought because right when she was going to finish her question, the elevator rang once again. Lily stood up and walked over to the elevator. I could hear 2 people talking, a man with a cold voice, and a woman who sounded much warmer.

"Chuck, we've got to think clearly. I know your mad. Anyone in this situation would be you can't scare her. We have to make sure she is safe and that we don't lose her again." The woman said.

"Blair I'm sorry, I just can't believe my father could do something like this to an innocent little kid." the man replied.

Lily shushed them. My heart jumped. What are they talking about. I suddenly was scared and I didn't dare to turn around. Lily came back over without the people who just came in.

"Where was I, oh yes! How did you get here if you go to school in Paris?" She finished her thought.

"Um, well, I…" how should I tell her. I dipped into my savings account and bought the ticket under my last name. If my school found out I would definitely be expelled, if I wasn't already. "Well you see, its not really hard when you have a credit card and a credible name." I said with a smirk. I was proud of it actually. Not ever 10 year old can get away with something like that.

"Oh my, you are a bass" She sighed. I was beginning to wonder when I could leave. The only reason i came was to get the papers inside the manila folder signed. WAIT! Where was my folder. I had my entire life inside of there. I start to panic. I can't think straight.

"I'm sorry, but could i have the folder back?" I asked getting up.

"Oh no, not right now. We are going to keep that safe in the library upstairs." She replied.

"But it's mine!" I said. "And I need it back." I started walking over to the desk.

"It doesn't work that way. You see, this new information is very valuable. If this folder were to fall into the wrong hands, there could be lots of damage done." A cool voice said "We have to make sure we take care of this situation the right way." He came down the stairs. We made eye contact and then i realized who it was.

"Ok well you can take care of the situation by signing the papers and giving them back to me. If I don't get them back on time I'll be in serious trouble. I just need them back and I'll be out of your hair." I start walking to the desk looking for it. I have my bag and shoes on and I'm ready to make a run for it.

"Chuck calm down. Now hang on a second where do you think you're going. Its dark out and you're way too young to be adventuring New York on your own. Where is your mother anyways?" Lily interjected.

"Its none of your concern i can take care of myself, I've only been doing it all my life." I reply "You know what it's fine. I can come tomorrow to talk about the stupid folder. It's not a big deal. I have to go."

I start to head towards the elevator, when chuck grabs my arm. "youre not going anywhere. You have no idea what you just stepped into and what kind of danger you're actually in. You can sleep in Serenas old room. And for gods sake have something to eat, you are as thin as a piece of paper." He spat. I just wanted to leave, but I knew better. I would just wait until late at night and then sneak out. Don't let them see you sweat. I glanced over my shoulder seeing that the party gained one more. A Brunette who was looking at Chuck in a motherly manner. I walked in the direction that they pointed and found the room. I didn't realize how tired i was until my eyes laid themselves on the bed.

"Just a nap… I can set an alarm then leave at 2 am." I tried to reassure myself. I took off my shoes and fell onto the bed. Literally. I was out in a second. At peace, for the first time in a long while.
