Chapter 6: getting closer

Itachi poked his head around the wall, looking to make sure it was clear.

From what, one might ask?

Why, the devil know as Sasuke.

It had been back almost a month ago now since his boyfriend had decided to take the golden fluff ball now named Naruto back with him, and Sasuke was still not happy.

Sasuke thought the best way to let him know this was to give him a new injury every day, (he could not pet him now without watching those claws) and by jumping out at him, when he least expected it. He refused to admit the first time when he had been jumped in the dark he screamed like a little girl for him mommy... Never... Uchiha's don't do that. Nope.

But he had a plan. Well he had been thinking about it before this even started, but getting Sasuke to leave him alone so he would look flawless again was a bonus. He just needed to make a call...

Sasuke mean while had left the house.

'He was a cat on a mission' he thought, 'making my way down town, walking fast and... .' Goddamn it, his human had been singing that song all day, now it was in his head...

But anyway, he was on his way to visit his Naru-kitty. He was mad at first when Itachi let him leave, but he had calmed down now. But it was winter now and getting colder, making each trip to see each other harder than before.

Not good.

But then, neither was the site that greeted him.

Having made it to Kyuubi's back garden, he hoped over the fence to see Naruto talking to some big red cat. Also know around these parts as Gaara. See unlike others, Gaara liked being a stray, but he always came back around this town, though no one knew why. As he got closer he could hear how happy Naruto sounded, this did not please him. 'It should be me making him happy' he sulked.

Naruto's tail was moving behind him as he listened to the older cat talk about stories about his life. Gaara had just been telling him about the time he jumped from the top of the tallest tree; he almost lost one of his lives!

"Wow, you really did that?"

"Yep"

"You're so cool!"

His ear twitched, hearing someone come beside him, he turned and saw Sasuke. Something must have been bugging him, since normally he would have been pounced on by now.

"Hey, teme, you okay?" He tilted his head to the side slightly, looking even cuter than he already was.

Sasuke calmly walked around him and moved so he was facing Gaara. "I'm fine. In fact, I thought you might like to know that I to, like to live life dangerously"

"Oh yeah, how?" Gaara asked, not wanting to lose at a challenge.

"Why, I once chased off a dog...and urmmm, you know, stuff like that..." The sound of a car horn was heard nearby. "Oh yeah and I run across roads often, when the cars are coming."

Naruto looked at Sasuke oddly. He didn't seem like the kind who would do that, and he had never seen the black cat try such a thing.

Gaara looked at him. "Prove it. Run over the road now."

Sasuke froze. "Now...?"

"Yep. Unless you can't...in that case, you better stick with me kitty" he said, directing the last bit at Naruto.

"I can too. Come on Naruto, I'll show you how cool I am."

"You don't need to prove anything to me, I like you as you are" Naruto said innocently.

Sasuke was overjoyed. His Naru-kitty liked him... hell yes! That's one step closer to love.

"I'm waiting" Oh. Right. He had forgotten the red fluff.

"Fine"

With Sasuke leading the way, the three of them jumped over the fence and stopped at the side of the road. Gaara and Naruto sat down while Sasuke was preparing to run.

"I can't watch" Naruto covered part of his face with a paw.

Sasuke looked both ways, as he got ready to run. 'I can do this. I can do this. 3...'

'2...'

'1...'

'Go!'

Run, "honk!""Beep" "meow!" swerve" "Hiss" Crash" Bang"...

Sasuke made it, he had actually made it! He looked behind him...only to see a couple cars had crashed... oh well. He lived. Happy days

Naruto came rushing over. "Are you okay? Oh my god you did it! You are so cool, I can't believe you!"

Sasuke was just happy to have Naruto's attention. Purring softly he thought 'oh yeah, he thinks I'm cool, in your face Gaara! Soon he'll be mine'

Itachi was sitting in the living room, Kyuubi opposite him.

"So what's up, you asked me to come over?"

"Yes, well...you see urmmm..."Itachi coughed awkwardly..."This is for you…" He said as he held out a key

Kyuubi looked at him, eyebrow raised. "A key...why? Did I lose one? I don't think I did? Oh I know! You got me a key to a secret underground land that..."

Itachi resisted the urge to face palm. 'This...' he thought 'could go on a while...'

"Move in with me"

"...Then all the people there will- ...what?"

"Move in with me" Itachi asked once more. A tiny blush covering his pale skin.

"..." Kyuubi mumbled

"What?"

Kyuubi laughed "I said YES!" Before he threw his arms around his boyfriend.

Itachi smiled. He had said yes.

Now, both he and his cat could be happy and living with the ones they loved.
