Chapter 8: Cat treats?
Kyuubi sighed.
He was currently sitting at the kitchen table, head resting in his hands, as he stared out the window as it continued to rain. And he was bored.
Not just a little, but like, really-really bored.
Itachi was busy at work, he couldn't go outside because of the rain and he couldn't get either Sasuke or Naruto to play with him (not that Sasuke really played anyway). They had both been in a mood with each other since their bath the other day, and so they refused to do anything.
So that left Kyuubi alone to find something to do, but what? There wasn't anything good on telly to watch, he'd read all his books…he thought about baking, but every time he tried…well… lets say the fire brigade now know the way to his place by heart.
He sighed again. If only there was a way he could cheer the two fluff balls in the other room, then they could keep him busy. He was busy trying to think of a plan when he finally remembered something. He had seen it before a little while ago, but it was quickly taken from his hands and put away, courtesy of Itachi. When he asked his boyfriend what it was, he told him "It's a special treat for cats, but it can make them go, out of sorts? I don't want it out for Sasuke to find."
Jumping up smiling, Kyuubi mentally congratulated himself for finding a solution for his problem. Going through the cupboards he finally found it. He was curious to how it was meant to work, since all it was, was a green looking substance in a see-through bag. It was quite a large amount to, but oh well, he figured it would be okay.
Itachi closed the door behind him, running a hand through his wet hair. Work had been slow and the constant shower all day outside had not helped, so he was glad to finally be home. He smiled at the idea of him and his boyfriend curled up together on the couch with a hot drink, whilst Sasuke and Naruto either played in front of them or decided to join them.
Leaving his coat and shoes by the door to dry off, he went into the kitchen to go put the kettle on when he stopped at the doorway, looking confused. If you could see him now, you would be able to see the little 'WTF?' sign above his head.
Why was he looking like this? Because his boyfriend was currently hiding under the table and shaking
Moving slowly, so not to startle the red head, he made his way over and crouched down in front of the other. "Kyuubi? What's wrong?" he asked, making sure to keep his voice low and quiet. Kyuubi seemed to have snapped out of it at the sound of his name, eyes shining with joy and relief as he moved as fast as he could to crawl out from his shelter and jump on Itachi.
"OhthankgodyourhomeIdontknowwhattodo…." He began rambling all at once, that it came out all jumbled.
Itachi couldn't do anything at that moment, still confused at to what was going on. Gently placing his hands on the red heads shoulders he moved him back so he could talk clearly to him. "Calm down and tell me what's going on"
Kyuubi rubbed the back of his head with one hand and smiled sheepishly. "Well I was bored, and neither Sasuke nor Naru would keep me company, cause their in a mood or something, so I gave them that treat you hid in the cupboard."
Itachi frowned as he tried to remember what he had hid in the cubo- oh. Oh no. his eyes widened.
The catnip
Panicking slightly he tightened his grip on the other shaking him slightly as he tried not to shout, "How much did you give them?!"
He paled when he saw the fear in the others eyes, as he whispered "The whole bag"
"Where are they now?" Itachi asked.
Kyuubi just pointed, turning his head Itachi looked at the closed living room door that had been barricaded thanks to the use of the kitchen chairs.
"They were fine at first, just kind of spaced out" Kyuubi began saying, "Then they just sort of began rolling around, making strange noises. Before they just stopped and then…"
"What? What happened?" Itachi asked, needing to know what he was facing rather then picture all the possibilities going through his head.
"They got up and stared at me. Like, really intense. And their eyes, it was like they didn't really see me, even my Naru didn't recognise me. It was really scary, then…then they came after me! So I ran and shut the door behind me. I could hear them scratching at the door, it was horrible."
'Well, that was an uncomfortable vision. But perhaps they would have calmed down now, since this happed while he was out', Itachi thought. Getting up he began to remove the chairs from the living room door.
"T'achi, what are you doing?" Kyuubi panicked.
"We need to check on them, hopefully they should have calmed down by now. Don't worry I'm here to protect you okay" he smiled.
Kyuubi nodded, a small blush coating his cheeks, and he helped move the chairs. One they were gone, the couple turned to look at each other before nodding, then slowly they opened the door and stepped in.
It looked like a war zone, the couch was covered in rips from where they had been clawed to death, books and other items had fallen to the floor, the bag that had originally contained the catnip was now nothing but shredded remains.
Naruto was currently squirming in the centre of the room making odd noises. Until he sensed their presence that was then he stopped and turned his head to look at them. Naruto sat up, not once looking away or blinking.
Itachi finally understood now why Kyuu was so scared. That look in the normally sweet and kind blond kitty's eyes now contained all the evilness a cat posses. They both took a step back, however that seemed to trigger something as the next thing they knew they were running back to the kitchen shutting the door behind them as Naruto charged towards them and full speed as he released what could be described as a war growl.
Immediately they shoved the chairs back against the door. Both stared at the door in horror as they could make out the sound of scratching from the other side.
Then suddenly Itachi thought of something truly terrifying. Nervously he turned to Kyuubi.
"Umm, did…did you see Sasuke in there at all?"
Kyuubi stared at him in silence. Both of them began to turn pale.
Slowly they turned around to come face to face with the dark furred cat, sitting on top of the table a strange gleam in his eyes.
'Oh god, please no' the couple though as they held each other, shaking.
Then he pounced.
It was decided that day; catnip was to never be brought into the house.
Ever
