Chapter 9: Together

Big onyx eyes groggily blinked open. The room was still dark meaning it was still night time. Sasuke up from his spot at the end of his human's bed, sparing a brief glance towards Itachi, who slept soundly, lightly snoring, and a glance towards Kyuubi. Who was sprawled all over the bed, one leg hanging over the edge, an arm flung over his face and red hair messed up and all over the place.

It had gotten cold lately, so he and Naruto had been sleeping with their owners for extra warmth. It was due to the cold that he had woken up in the first place. Originally he had fallen asleep curled up in a ball, Naruto by his side, as the two of them shared body heat. But it seems Naruto had decided to move during the night to his recently discovered, comfy spot to sleep on. Kyuubi's face. This is why he had started to sleep with his arm over his face, so he didn't suffocate thanks to the fur. Something he learnt from experience.

Moving quickly and quietly, Sasuke made his way over to check on Naruto, who was currently purring gently in his sleep. Sasuke softly jumped up onto Kyuubi's chest, so that he was close to his Naru-kitty, and curled up into a ball once more. He passed another glace between the humans, thinking about how happy they had been recently. He wondered if he and Naruto would have been happy if they had not been cats, but people to? Eventually, the warmth and the soft sound of the humans heart beat drew him back to sleep.

"Sasuke wake up…"

"Wha-…"

"Sasuke. Wake up sleepy head"

"Naru…"

Eyes snapped open in alert, only to be greeted with an unfamiliar site. Sasuke looked around, he was in the living room, but he could have sworn he was in the bedroom just a second ago. And why was everything so high up?

He rubbed his face with his hand… wait what?

Holy sh…

He had hands! With fingers and everything, and a face! A human face. He jumped up onto his feet, but this was a bad idea as he felt dizzy from moving so quickly. But he had a body to. A person body. No claws or tail. He almost ran to out into the hall way, where he remembered a mirror was placed on the wall. Looking at his self for the first time, he was amazed.

He could recognise his eyes; he saw them in reflections all the time, but everything else… He only had fur on the top of his head, longer at the front than the back; as well as in the places above his eyes. He looked like… he looked a bit like his Human…or considering what he was happening; perhaps it was now considered rude to call Itachi that.

"Sasuke, there you are. Come on dinner is ready. We got your favourite, Salmon."

'Speak of the devil' he thought as he turned to face his…Owner? What was he supposed to call him now?

"Hn"

Itachi sighed. "Really, at least talk to me in sentences. Show your brother some respect"

Sasuke felt a happy feeling in his chest. 'Brother?' He smiled. He liked the sound of that.

"Right, sorry Itachi."

Itachi ruffled his hair in response. "Yeah, yeah. Anyway come on, Kyuubi's little brother is here to. I know you've been waiting to meet him again. There already in the kitchen."

He watched him leave. Kyuubi's… Naruto?

Running in the halls, something he found was unsafe when he wasn't a cat as he almost fell over, he made his way to the entrance of the kitchen and felt his heart beat begin to race. And for some reason his face started to feel hot, as blue eyes met his.

Naruto, who was sitting at the table smiling and laughing with Kyuubi, turned his attention to Sasuke. A sweet smile on his face. His eyes were just as beautiful as they had always been. Like him, his fur was now only on the top of his head and face, the same golden colour that had caught his attention the very first time he laid eyes on the cat, now human. He also looked a bit his 'brother', but his skin was a darker shade, and his face was a bit rounder.

It didn't matter if he looked different, Sasuke felt himself fall in love all over again.

Slowly he made his way over and took the seat next to Naruto, Itachi in front of him who had Kyuubi on his right. Sasuke felt his face heat up even more as Naruto pecked his cheek once he had sat down.

Sasuke observed his little family as they ate, smiling and laughing together at a story or a joke and felt a swell of happiness and joy inside. He caught Naruto's eyes, who gave him a wink in return before leaning over and giving him a small kiss.

"I love you Sasuke"

Sasuke returned the kiss with one of his own.

"Love you too"

And he meant it. He loved him, all of them very much.

Sunlight poured in through the window, shining right into Sasuke's face. His ears flicked in irritation as he began to wake up. As he opened his eyes, he found himself back in the bedroom, still lying with everyone else as they continued to sleep.

Sasuke smiled, purring softly in content. He didn't care if he was a cat or not. As long as he had his family, he had everything he needed.
