Chapter Six
Is Where the Heart Is
Author's Note and Disclaimer: I'm so glad everyone liked "Home". I had a kick writing it. Especially the dialogue, there were a few minutes where I had to stop because I was crying from laughing too hard. Chapter six is sure to be just as good—hopefully.
Special thanks to Jenni Jupiter and everyone else that wrote a review. It was much appreciated!

Himeno leaned back and stared curiously into Wufei dark orbs, "am I what?"
Wufei sighed; obviously if she was Himeno would have told him. Then a jolt of panic coursed through his veins. What if she didn't know? That could be a possibility, couldn't it? Himeno was a bit of a ditz when it came to herself, so she could just think that she's been working too hard or the fact that he was leaving in a day was just too stressful and that's why she's been looking thinner, paler and tired.
"Just humor me." Wufei began.
"That I am pregnant?" Himeno laughed as she moved from his lap to standing on her feet.
"It would explain a lot." Wufei shifted, moving to the edge of the couch, propping his elbows up on his knees. Himeno shot him a glare that told him to tread carefully and he intended to. "For starters you've been sleeping a lot more, you're thinner and you look like you're going to be sick at any moment. You have been a lot more lovable lately and, not that I don't mind it, you've been a bit clingy."
"And all of that leads you to believe that I'm pregnant?" Himeno questioned.
Wufei shrugged and felt a little embarrassed asking this next question, "There's all of that and…when did you have your last cycle?"
Himeno opened her mouth to speak, but stopped suddenly to think. She stood there for a moment, with all of her weight on one leg while she calculated everything in her head. Shock took over the curiousness in her eyes, her mouth slightly hung open and stupidity scratched at her brain. She whispered and fell back into Wufei's reading chair, "oh my god."
Wufei stood, "are you?"
Himeno cringed, "maybe? I don't know. It's been a few weeks. So, yes?"
Wufei had a sudden urge to stay home and not leave for this case. He didn't want to leave her alone with this, not that he knew what to do in this type of situation, but neither did she.
"I'm staying home." Wufei suddenly uttered as he reached for his cell phone to call Lady Une to tell her everything.
Himeno stopped him by throwing a pillow at him, "no you're not."
Wufei hissed with frustration, "Himeno you're pregnant…"
"We don't know that for sure! I could just be going through one of those things where it doesn't happen for a while."
"We need to find out now, but the doctor's office…"
"Is closed Wufei. Will you chill out for a second, please?" Himeno asked swiping his phone away, bypassed his password and dialed one of his speed dials.
"Who are you calling and where is your phone?" He asked as he heard Calypso beginning to whine.
"Someone who can help us figure this out a lot faster." Himeno replied, "I don't know where that damn thing is."
Wufei rolled his eyes as he picked Calypso up, in happiness the puppy gave him kisses on his chin until he put her out on their balcony to go to the bathroom—assuming that's what she was whining about.
"Hey Sally, yea I know this is Wufei's phone. I don't know where mine is. I know it's a work phone. I don't know, it's like the fifth one I've lost….this month. My phone loosing ability is not why I'm calling you. Listen can you come over, with a thing, for me to use," Himeno paused and sighed heavily, "I think I might be pregnant. Yes for serious, I think four weeks. What is this twenty questions, would you just get over here!"
Himeno hung up the phone, tossed it to Wufei and made her way into the kitchen. She grabbed their largest cup and filled it with water, taking huge gulps at a time, making Wufei nervous.
"I take is Sally is coming over?" Wufei asked as he watched his wife down half of the forty-four ounce cup.
Himeno gasped, "Yea, she's bringing a few things that should clear up a few answers."
"A few things like, what?" Wufei questioned as he let Calypso back in, but quickly catching her before she could make a run for it. She playfully nipped at him; Wufei imitated her, but stop short when he saw Himeno cockily smirking at him. He put her down and let her run around their apartment, when he looked around he predicted how much smaller their home would become when a baby entered their lives.
Wufei didn't hear Himeno's answer; he was too busy picturing what their child would look like. He didn't really care if the baby was a boy or girl; he just hoped that the infant was healthy and strong. The sudden warmth in his heart was overwhelming, he didn't know if he was ready to become a father.
"Wufei, you okay?" Himeno asked as she tenderly touched his arm, when he glanced down at her he tried his best not show that he felt like crying. He leaned down and captured her lips in a swift embrace, letting his overwhelming feelings take over in the heated moment.
The knocking on the door interrupted them and Wufei cursed at the person who dared to get in between them. His guess was that it was Sally and when Himeno answered the door his guess was correct. Sally looked out of breath, her hair was a mess and she was breathing heavily. Himeno handed the doctor her glass of water, knowing that Sally needed it more than she did. In return the good doctor gave his wife a bag filled with goodies.
Wufei joined Himeno and peeked inside. There were three different pregnancy test, prenatal pills and morning sickness medication—just in case. Inside her bag was a tiny cup, a syringe and other things the two didn't want to know anything about.
Sally explained that the best way to see if she was pregnant was to take a blood sample. The cup was for her to pee in, just in case none of these sticks were as accurate as they claimed to be and the giant CSI looking computer unit with spiny nozzles was to test both the blood and urine. They decided to draw the blood first, since that takes the longest to analyze and while that was cooking Himeno went a relieved herself of the two forty-four ounce water she drank within thirty minutes.
Wufei waited anxiously in the living room, with Calypso lying on her back as she swung her paws at his hands that attempted to rough house with her. Sally watched, never seeing the usual serious pilot play with a puppy before.
Himeno emerged with the cup filled, handing it to Sally, while still holding the first pregnancy test. They waited patiently for any sign of her being pregnant.
Sally walked behind her and watched as the one sign appeared; she smiled widely at Wufei who waited on baited breath, "congratulations, you do appear to be pregnant."
Wufei quickly got to his feet and easily crossed over to Himeno, who still hadn't said a thing. He put the puppy on the floor and took hold of her by the arm. She wouldn't look at him at first—Himeno was too busy staring at the blue plus sign to look Wufei in the eye. He whispered her name and slowly she met his gaze, fresh tears in her eyes mixed with fear and uncertainty.
He couldn't leave her, not now. Three days ago they got married, that was one thing, but bringing another life into the world was another. He didn't know what to do, but it must've been worse for Himeno. This child would be inside her for nine months, she was the one that was going to have to take care of it. Which was going to be difficult, no one else knew how clumsy Himeno really was. She never failed to walk into walls or into doors that were meant to be pulled open instead of pushed. She tripped over her own feet several times and sometimes that ended with her being on the floor.
"We'll be alright Himeno, I won't leave." Wufei said as he brought Himeno to his chest and tightened an arm around her shoulders and waist. He kissed her hair and held her even tighter than he thought was possible. He asked Sally to call Lady Une; she did, but stepped out into the balcony to give them privacy.
"I can't ask you do that." Himeno mumbled into his shirt.
Wufei forced her head up, staring down at her with a soft smile, "tough because there is no way I'm missing out on any of this."
"But the case in America, they need you more than I do." Himeno argued attempted to step out of his arms, but he wouldn't let her go.
"You and Lady Une can try to force me into going, but I'm not leaving you or the baby. Especially when his or hers mother is closet klutz." Wufei joked and brushed through her hair with his nimble fingers.
"You're such an ass." Himeno chuckled and walked the few inches back into his arms.
"You married me." Wufei retorted as he kissed her hair once more.
