Chapter Nine

It All Ends Today

Author's note and disclaimer: Thanks so much for all of the reviews guys! They keep me motivated from not neglecting this story, if that makes any sense…at all. So I think I'm gonna stir some things up in this chapter, cause mayhem and drama. So beware of the feels. I do not own Gundam Wing.

It has been a few months since Himeno and Wufei moved into their new home, now officially owning it. Himeno has gotten used to the morning sickness, eating light at dinner so she won't get so sick in the morning. Himeno has only taken a few days off so far because the nausea made it difficult to move. When they were at work Wufei would check in on her, mainly for his easement—he didn't want to get a call from a random agent saying that his wife collapsed. Even though Himeno wasn't into studying about pregnancy like her husband was, Wufei still bought her a few of them just in case she got bored.

He was extremely devoted to the check-ups, ultra-sounds and other doctor appointments. Until the first ultra-sound Himeno hadn't emotionally come to terms with being pregnant, but when Himeno and Wufei saw the little peanut that was their child it had hit her. She knew very well that there was another life growing inside of her, but seeing the picture and hearing the heart beat she started crying. Wufei almost panicked at his wife's sudden break down, but the doctor reassured him that all of his patients go through this.

It was around the fifth month of the pregnancy when things started getting rough for the two. Himeno started to show, people at work was starting to notice, the agents that were smart kept their mouths shut and shared congratulations for the two. However, the agents that weren't so smart only opened their mouths out of spite or jealously. Sometimes if the others were around Himeno would ignore them and focus on what her friends were saying, but if she was alone Himeno could hear the snide remarks that were spoken behind her back. The young agent kept her composure though; she only glared at the idiots with such intensity until they shrunk away out of fear.

One day, at lunch with Duo and Quatre, she made a list of all of the comments she's heard so far.

"Was this baby planned?"

"Looks like you love this eating-for-two business."

"Did you hear of that woman who died giving birth last month?"

"I had a natural birth and it was the most glorious moment of my life."

"You two didn't get married because you're pregnant, did you?"

Duo was cackling uncontrollably, trying not to chock on his food at the same time. Quatre patted the braided idiot on the back, while Himeno fumed in the corner. Finally, once Duo was able to breathe he spoke, while trying to not to burst out in laughter again.

"I seriously don't know how you handle it, Himeno. A couple of years ago you would have threatened to drop kick their sorry asses into the next year."

"I'd probably get away with it too; since the people of the court would blame it on the hormones." Himeno was starting to hate that word. It's true that her hormones were out of whack, but people didn't need to keep reminding her—especially Wufei.

"So I take it you two are still fighting?" Duo asked while piling on the food on his fork.

Quatre looked up from the paper in shock, "still? What's going on with you two?"

Himeno sighed angrily, "I really don't want to talk about it." Duo and Quatre shared suspicious glances with each other until the young mother to be caved in, "we've been fighting about a lot of things lately."

Duo asked in a hush voiced, "Like what?"

Himeno crossed her arms on the table and leaned in, "I don't have an issue with the birthing process fight because I pretty much won that last night." Himeno explained to her confused looking friends, "He wanted me to have a natural birth, no pain killers or anything. I told him if he ever wanted to see his kid he'll back the fuck off and let me do whatever I want because I'm the one that's going to be pushing the baby out."

And Quatre and Duo agreed with Himeno there and let her continue.

"The other issue is figuring out a name for him or her. He wants to keep it traditional, but let's face it we're not exactly traditional couple." Himeno recounted the good old days, when the two only got to together to vent or for a physical encounter. They were teenagers fighting in 80 ton machines that could destroy anything and anyone—they were trained to kill and to sacrifice their life is need be.

Duo paused Himeno, "wait…you two were hooking up way before you became an official couple?" He air quotation marks around hooking up.

"Yes Duo we were. You guys were never home and we got bored. May I continue?"

"By all means," Duo gestured.

"You guys remember how Wufei used to be extremely sexists and his remarks would drive me nuts and we'd get into a screaming match?" The girl questioned and almost broke out into an ugly laugh because of the pale complexion her friends had while they remembered the horrible memories of the two arguing back and forth. "He made a crack about it the other day and usually I would retort back with something incredibly vulgar, but I didn't. I started crying, called him an asshole and locked myself in the bathroom."

"You're kidding?" Duo gawked at the girl, his mouth hung open.

"I wish." She didn't want to tell her comrades how Wufei knocked on the door several time, asking her if she was alright and that he was sorry. When she finally did come out of hiding, the house was silent. She got nervous, thinking that Wufei left, but she found him in the living room—Calypso sleeping in her bed in the corner. Walking closer to him she saw that he was asleep, sitting upright, with an arm propping his head up. She smiled sweetly down at him, Himeno sat next to him, brushed her knuckles against his cheek before kissing him gently. Himeno decided against going to bed without him, so she curled up on the couch, resting her head on his lap and wrapped an arm protectively around her tiny swollen belly.

When she woke up, there was a blanket draped around her and a note sitting on the table in front of her. She guess Wufei must've left it, unless he somehow taught Calypso how to write—which she would never doubt it at this point. Wufei started taking her to the K9 unit at the office a few months ago to get her trained in protecting his family against intruders.

The note said that he was sorry for what he said and that he'd meet her at the doctor's appointment later on that day. When they saw each other at the doctor's office, Wufei was already there, in his full Preventers get up, reading a pointless magazine. She walked over to him; Wufei stood automatically and tossed the magazine to the side. Himeno had never seen the pilot look so pathetic. His dark eyes were casted downwards and his brow was curved worry. Himeno walked into him, wrapping her arms rightly around him. Wufei was a little taken back at the sudden embrace, but he didn't hesitate to hold her back. He kissed her hair several times and whispered more apologies, but in Chinese so the other patients wouldn't think the worst.

Himeno huffed in laughter, "The only thing we haven't fought about it is money, because we're pretty much set. And in-laws because we don't have parents."

"The four of us can pretend to be your parents." Duo joked.

"No way in hell." Himeno shot back automatically in a monotone voice. Duo pouted for a second, drawing his crossed arms to his chest and puffing out his pouting lips until the three broke out in laughter. Himeno had to calm herself down because the baby started kicking roughly.

Himeno decided to take a half day and go home. Calypso greeted her at the door and followed her happily into the kitchen, finding no one else home. But then she heard cussing coming from upstairs. Curiously, Himeno ventured towards the voices. She grabbed her gun that she hid away under a little flower table. Ready to shoot anything that threatens to hurt her and her baby. Himeno walked slowly until she stopped at the baby's room. Peeking through the crack in the door she saw Wufei sitting on the floor with a sheet of paper in his hand. Sighing in relief she tucked the gun away safely before entering the room.

"What are you doing?" She asked noticing Heero and Trowa were in the room with him. Himeno also couldn't help but notice random wooden parts scattered around the room.

"I can assemble and fix mobile suits, I can even construct bombs. But this…" Heero stated with agitation dripping in his voice, "Monstrosity of a crib is impossible to build."

"You're putting together a crib?" Himeno asked looking at the millions of parts that's supposed to form into a bed.

"We would be if these damn instructions made any sense." Heero cursed and threw the piece of paper at the floor.

Trowa and Himeno laughed at Heero's reaction, but Wufei was glued to the instructions in his hands. Himeno crouched over him and realized that they were in Chinese. "Do you follow any of it?"

"Somewhat. They make better sense in a different language that's not English." Wufei muttered while he never tore his eyes away from the paper.

"You have no idea how to put this thing together, do you?" Himeno asked straightly.

"Not a clue." Wufei tossed the instructions somewhere in the room and looked up at his wife who was failing at not trying to laugh.

She patted him on the shoulder, "you know there are people who are paid to put these things together. Just give them a call tomorrow."

"No, I can do it." Wufei huffed and looked around and wondered if he would be able to put the crib together before the baby turned fifty.

"Don't be a stubborn idiot, Wufei, just call them. It'll be easier and less of a hassle." Himeno whispered—trying not to sound like a know-it-all pregnant woman. Wufei stood and turned on his heels towards the mother of his child.

"I'm not going to pay someone to put together my child's crib, I can do it. And I don't want to hear any more about it." Wufei hissed staring down the girl who was absolutely stunned at the anger in his voice and eyes.

"Wufei," Heero wedged himself in between the two, half expecting a fight to break out. However, when he glanced over his shoulder to Himeno he was shocked. Himeno's lips were pursed thinly, her dark blue eyes glued to the floor and her head hanging. She was struggling to fight back the tears, her hands balled into fists as tight as she could muster.

Trowa guided Himeno out of the room, each hand resting on her shoulders while whispering something no one else but her could make out. Once the two were gone Heero turned his attention back to Wufei and out of nowhere gave him a right hook—dropping him to the floor.

"What the hell was that for, Yuy?" Wufei asked while rubbing his cheek.

"Did you not hear yourself just now?" Heero questioned, "The way you spoke to her? Himeno was just trying to help and you chewed her out for no damn reason!"

Wufei was on his feet and was about to rebuttal, but Heero wouldn't let him speak. "She was about to cry Wufei and of all people that to make her feel like garbage! The one person that was by her side after everything she has been through. You might as well as raped her yourself Wufei because that's what she looked like. She looked broken and miserable because of you."

The Chinese man reflected on his actions and realized what he had just done, Himeno couldn't be blamed—it was all on him. Those days when Himeno refused to get out of bed or eat. He remembered those nights when Himeno cried herself to sleep in Wufei's arm or woke up screaming because her nightmares wouldn't let her rest. Wufei cursed at himself and stormed out of the room leaving Heero in the room with scattered crib parts.

Wufei found Himeno in the living room, staring out the window into the early fall season, Trowa wasn't with her and he was thankful for that. He approached her slowly, wondering if she was made at him, but she was the exact opposite. Her nose was red and her eyes were glossy from crying, Wufei felt sick to his stomach. He promised himself, from the first time she cried because of him, that he would never do that to her again. In front of Himeno, he dropped to his knees and wrapped his arms around her thin shoulders and engulfed her in the tightest hug as imaginable. He apologized over and over again; he promised out loud that he would never speak to her like that again. Himeno hooked her arms underneath his armpits and held him gently—forgiving him. She let him get out everything he needed to get out before sinking to the floor. He rested his head against her tiny baby bump and kissing it gently—whispering sweet things to the child.

He never wanted to see Himeno in that kind of pain every again, not because of him.
