Claire arrived back at the glass house unharmed physically but emotionally was a different story.

She climbed the tree to her window ledge, and then just sat still on her bed watching nothing...

Knock Knock.

"Claire? Can I come in?" Shane's deep voice ran from the other side of the door urgently wanting to go in and check on Claire who's been suspiciously quite these past hours.

No answer.

"Claire!" Shane uninvited, opened the bedroom door and revealed Claire sleeping peacefully.

"I don't know if you're actually sleeping or just pretending to avoid me, but..." Shane pauses and went to the door, "I'm sorry for shouting at you earlier it's just... Morganville's dangerous, I should know; I've lived here my whole life and lost a few people."

He left the room.

Claire got up and took off her bloody clothes, she thought it was kind of sweet for Shane to apologise even if he invaded her privacy while doing so, it showed he cared.

Claire sighed.

What do I do with these clothes that have someone else's blood on?

A few more tears dropped from Claire's eyes, she couldn't even tell the police of what happened, yes they'd believe her but would they do anything? Probably not just cover it up as Rachel was 'Unprotected' what ever that meant.

Well she was meant to be protected by me but I was too cowardly.

Claire dropped the clothes in the corner, then put her dressing gown on and ran to the bathroom to have a shower.

Hot water sprinkled fast onto Claire as she scrubbed the remaining blood of her body, she looked down watching it go down the train.

Claire didn't full on cry and even when the worst occurred and Rachel was dying in her arms she still didn't cry fully, maybe it was because she'd only known the girl 10 seconds and crying was from the shock, or maybe she didn't fully cry because of that self promise she made years ago...

Claire turned the shower off and grabbed her towel, opening the door and revealing a beautiful girl wearing a Chinese kimono dressing gown.

"Ahh! What the fuck! Who areyou?" Claire shouted alarmed at the stranger in front of her.

The girl stepped back holding her arms in a surrender gesture, "Relax girl it's me, Eve."

Claire opened her eyes wider and noticed it was Eve; she was so different without all the Goth glory. "Sorry Eve, It's just you look so different without the heavy makeup." Claire laughed shakily.

"Yeah, I get that a lot. Are you okay Shane said you were sleeping?"

Claire had to think of an excuse so not to make it look like she was avoiding Shane. "Erm, I was...It's just I needed a glass of water..."

Ahh fuck Claire, where's your glass of water dickhead, you got a towel wrapped round you what did you do drink from the toilet? Claire mentally slapped herself.

"Err, Claire? Where's your glass, and you've just came out of the bathroom, did you drink from the tap or something?"

"No it's just on my way down, I thought what's that smell and I didn't want to stink everyone out the house so I had a shower first, then I was going to come down for that drink."

Ah, Nice safe but now they think you have really bad odour. Mental face palm.

Eve chuckled nervously, "Well, okay see you tomorrow, I'm going to bed now."

"Night, Eve." Claire waved awkwardly, still standing in front of the bathroom.

"Erm, Claire? Yeah I need to brush my teeth." Eve pointed to the bathroom.

Claire shuffled out the way clumsily. "Ah yes sorry."

"Claire are you sure you're okay, you're acting kind of off?"

"Yeah I'm fine Eve, just really tired, Night." Claire didn't want to talk anymore she was too tired so brushed Eve off and walked to her bedroom, leaving Eve pretty confused...
