"So than he asks me if I'm a werewolf!" said Demi as the girls in the dorm laughed. "So I sat there and gave him a mini-lesson on female anatomy."
"Aww, he's such a little thickhead. It's so cute" said Alice, tying up her shoes.
"Do you think he told the rest of him mates, about his stupidity?" asked Kiaria, who had just emerged from the washroom.
"There you are" said Demi, "we were going to send in a search party. We thought you'd fallen in." She ducked the bottle of toothpaste that was hurtling her way.
"So, he thought you were a werewolf? How'd he get there?" asked Kiaria, as she began changing into her robes.
"Well, he thought that by saying cycle, I meant lunar cycle. That my pain was caused by transformations, it happens every month, and I seem super grumpy, and look slightly . . . ill" she faltered. She turned around quickly and tossed the lid of her trunk open with such force, it flew off the hinges and hit the wall on the other side of the room. The other three girls stopped and looked at Demi, who was throwing book after book out of her trunk, until she pulled out a Third Years Guide to Defence Againts the Dark Arts, textbook. She riffled through the pages until she landed on one she had marked several months ago. The chapter was entitled 'Werewolves.' She looked to the table at the bottom of the page, where all the symptoms and ways to identify werewolves were written. Suddenly, she dove into her school bag and pulled out the essay she had written a few months ago on lycanthropy for Professor Pavor. "WELL SLAP MY ASS AND CALL ME SALLY!" she cried, looking both shocked and pleased.
"What is it!" cried the other three girls.
Demi looked at the clock, which read 7 a.m. The three girls watched their friend grab both the essay and textbook and run out of the room.
"What was that about?" asked Kiaria. The other two shook their heads in confusion.
Demi
Demi ran up the boy's staircase, ignoring the looks she was getting from the other Gryffindor guys. She came to a halt when she reached the third year dormitory. "Remus I need to talk to you. Now."
Sirius swung open the door, "what is it?" he asked.
"I know something. You ought to know it too. Tell Remus to come and meet me at the Beech tree by the lake in 8 minutes. It's urgent," she said.
"Alright I will" said Sirius, concerned.
Remus had just appeared by the doorway, "what's going on?' he asked.
"This is great, just the man I wanted to see. I need to talk to you now, it's important and it can't wait. Well, actually I can't wait. Are you busy?" Dei asked nervously.
"No, just give me a second to grab my things" said Remus. He disappeared from the doorway and emerged a second later with his belongings. He followed Demi out of the common room, through the castle and to the beech tree.
"I have a question for you and I want an honest answer," she said. "Will you be willing to give it to me?" she asked shakily.
"Yes, what is it?" said Remus, slightly on edge.
"I was talking with Sirius yesterday. He must have told you the story," she said.
"Yeah he did, idiot" said Remus laughing.
"Well, it got me thinking. Remember how we always used to wonder why Pavor hated you? Why you had to visit your mother? Why you would come back looking like hell? And you would never give any of us a straight answer?" she asked.
"Yeah" said Remus, eyeing her.
"Well, I've figured it out. You're a werewolf, aren't you?" asked.
Remus felt his heart stop. She knows. SHE KNOWS. SHIT. This isn't good. She just asked me if I'm a werewolf. What do I say? She's got all the evidence. She knows all the signs. I guess I'm going to have to be honest with her. She was bound to figure it out eventually. He turned to face Demi, eye to eye. "Yes, I am a werewolf. But how did you know?"
"Well, you're always missing during the full moon, every four weeks. Your scratches don't heal at all, you look dreadful every time you come back from one of your 'visits,' your boggart is the full moon, and you seem to be a little shaky every time someone mentions the word."
"Well, no offense, but I would have expected you to figure it out a little quicker than that" he replied.
"Well, I never normally dig into my friend's secrets, so obviously it took a while" Demi replied.
"Do you hate me now?" Remus asked, almost about to cry.
"What? Why would I hate you? Because you didn't tell me?" asked Demi.
"Because I'm a freak" he replied.
"No, no, no, no Remus. I can't hate you! In fact, I love you even more. This is so cool. Not the whole 'being bitten' thing but the fact that I have a friend whose a werewolf! How many people can actually say that?" she said, giving Remus a hug.
"Well, James, Peter and Sirius know, so .." he trailed off.
"THEY KNOW! Blimey, I didn't think Peter was that smart," said Demi thoughtfully.
"No, James and Sirius figured it out, and had to tell Peter," said Remus.
"How long've they known?" asked Demi.
"Since Christmas last year" said Remus. "We were playing an awfully recited game of 'Truth or Dare'."
"Hahaha, they cornered you!" laughed Demi, as the pair walked back up to the castle. "I can picture it in my head. Do you think you can tell 'em? James, Peter, and Sirius that I know" she explained.
"They're heading this way" said Remus, pointing at a group of three Gryffindors headed their way.
"Well, we better go meet them," said Demi, linking arms with Remus and leading the way.
The group met up, "so what was so urgent that you had to take our Mr. Lupin with you?" asked James.
"She knows" said Remus.
"That you're a, you know?" asked James and Sirius.
"Yes she knows I'm a werewolf"
"Wait. She's right there" interjected Peter. The others looked at him with pity before Remus explained to the boy, in excruciating detail, what had just happened. "Oh," said the boy, "got it."
"You sure Pete?" asked James tauntingly.
"This is great, we can work together. This could be like the wizard version of the Italian Job" she said excitedly.
"Meaning?" asked Remus, trying not to laugh at her muggle reference.
"Well, we can help you sneak out, cover up anything that needs to be covered up. Keep all suspicion off of you," said Demi.
"True, but the teachers and Dumbledore can't get to know that you know" he said.
"My lips are sealed," said Demi, and they stood up, heading out of the yard, and into the castle.
"So what should we do to Pavor?" asked Sirius.
"What do you mean?" replied the others.
"Well, we all know. This could be the ultimate prank! We could-"
"No Sirius, it's too dangerous," said Remus.
"But-"
"NO!" screamed Remus and Demi, who were on either side of him.
"Fine, fine. Whatever, let's just get to class before McGonagall gives us detention."
