Its been about two weeks since John has heard anything from Randy. Every time he would ride by 42 street he would look for Randy but he never found him. He started to fear that something was seriously wrong. He pulled up into the parking lot driveway, got out and headed up to his apartment with a fellow worker. He stopped when he saw someone sitting in front of his door, a hood over his head.

"Who is that?" Austin asked.

"I think that's Randy." John said heading over to him.

"You mean the prostitute you've been hooking up with?"

John nodded and knelt down in front of him. "Yeah but I haven't seen him in two weeks."

Austin walked up next to him. "Dude he doesn't look so good."

"I know." John said. "Help me get him inside." With the help of Austin they carried a passed out Randy into the apartment and into the guest bedroom.

Austin watched as John careful removed Randy's clothes and shook his head. "Man you really have it for this guy."

John smiled. "Tell me something I don't know." He help Randy into a pair of his sweats and shirt. There were purple and black bruises all over his chest and legs.

"Man someone really did a number on him." Austin said making John look back at him. "Sorry."

Once John got finish he and Austin left the room.

"Oh John what have you got yourself into." Austin said sitting in the chair.

"What?" John said sitting up on the couch.

"I mean what if his boss guy or whoever comes after you for taking him in." Austin said. "Are you seriously going to risk your life for that kid."

"He's not like anyone else I've met." John replied. "I know he's in trouble but I can't just walk away from him, I care about him Austin."

Austin groaned and sat back. "Well you might want to consider getting a gun."

"I don't need a gun." John said. "I know how to defend myself and If it comes to that I will defend myself."

"If you say so." Austin groaned. "I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow."

John waved him off. "Later."

Later that night

Randy woke up to the familiar scent of John. He sat up on the bed and suddenly got very nauseous. He jumped up and headed to the bathroom, just in time. Once he was done he got the feeling that he was being watched. "Sorry if I woke you." He whispered.

"I wasn't sleep so it's okay." John said. "Are you okay?"

Randy got up and rinsed hid mouth out. Standing back up he looked over at John. "I didn't have anywhere else to go and you're the only one who seems to care about me, sorry." He walked pass John and into the guest room. "I'll leave." Feeling weak he sat on the bed. "Where are my clothes?"

"In the wash." John said sitting next to him. "What happened?"

"Someone screwed him over and I was the only one close by for him to take his anger out on." Randy said. "Plus he was fed up with all the calls and messages from you." He sighed and looked down. "Maybe I shouldn't have come here."

"Well I'm glad that you did." John said. "I was worried that something had happened to you but I'm glad you came here."

Randy smiled. "Thank you for not turning me away." He looked over at John.

"You're welcome." John replied and stood up. "You can clean up if want and I'll be in the living room if you need anything."

Randy nodded. "Okay." He got up and headed back to the bathroom. Closing the door he slowly removed his clothes. He turned the warm water on and stared at himself in the mirror. Using his hand he ran it over the bruises and winced. He sometimes wished that he had led a different like when he was younger but then he wouldn't have meet John. John was the only good thing that came out of it.

...

A half hour later Randy turned off the water and stepped out of the showers. A fresh pair of clothes rested on the toilet and the ones he woke up in were gone. He got dressed and slowly made his to the living room. He saw John in the kitchen and sat on the couch.

"Are you sure that you're okay?" John asked siting next to him with two plates of food. He handed one to Randy and sat his on the table.

"Yeah I'm just going to be a little sore for a while." Randy said starting to play with the food. He watched as John began to eat his food and smiled. His smile however went away when his phone rang. It was sitting on the table but he just stared at it. "It's him, I should answer." He said setting his plate on the table and reaching for the phone but John stopped him. "He's mad and I should-"

"He's not going to hurt you." John said. "You're safe with me."

Randy sighed and looked up at him. "You don't know him John."

"I don't care." John said. "Stay with me and you'll never have to be afraid again." With his hand still Randy's he leans forward and kisses him.

Randy removed his hand from the phone and pulled John closer to him. He laid back and pulled John on top of him, he winced.

John pulled back. "Sorry, I forgot." He said removing his hand from Randy's chest.

Randy smiled. "It's okay."

"I think I have something for help." John got up and went to the bathroom. A few seconds later he returned with a tube of cream in his hands. "This will help with the pain." He helped Randy take off his shirt and sat behind him. Opening the tube he squeeze some on his hands before rubbing it on Randy's back. "If you use it everyday it will also help with the healing." When he was finish with his back Randy turned to him and he started on his chest.

Randy stared down at John's hand as it rubbed the cream onto his bruised chest. "Why do you have this?"

"Just in case something happens." John said. "When I was young I used to get bet up a lot because I was the only kid out at my school. My dad used this on me and it always help, plus he taught me how to defend myself. Back then he was a police officer but now he's retired."

"You life sounded perfect." Randy said.

"It wasn't always perfect you know." John told him. "My parents fought and so did my dad and I."

Randy looked up at John. "But they never walked out on you like mine did."

John sighed. "Sorry."

Randy nodded. "That's okay, now I'm kind of glad because I never would have met you."

"That would suck." John whispered.

"Yeah it would." Randy reached over and pulled John into another kiss.
