Chapter 9
Their Master's, In The Evening
Morning rays broke through the crack in my curtains as I stirred a bit before sitting up and rubbing at my eyes. I looked about my surroundings and found myself lying in the middle of a queen size bed, the walls of the room an off white with paintings hanging over them.
For a moment I was caught off guard by the sudden change in scenery as I recalled the last thing I remembered seeing before I had fallen unconious, then it struck me as I recalled seeing Ciel's butler before I had passed out. With a groan I fell back into my bed and furiously scratched at my head cursing under my breath until I heard a soft knock at the door and sat back up just in time to see Lucian emerge from out in the hall.
"Good morning Lady Raven- I was just coming to wake you. Did you sleep well?" I blinked as I sat there in silence as he gave me a smile then made his way over to the room's closet and pulled out a dress for me to wear.
Now either I'm still dreaming or I fell into an alternate universe because I half expected Lucian to be lecturing me after what I had pulled yesterday. Climbing out of bed I stood there staring at him in my night gown- wait – nightgown?! When was I changed?! I questioned myself flipping out as Lucian turned around.
"IS there something the matter Lady Raven?"
"Huh? Oh-uh, Lucian by any chance you wouldn't happen to know who changed me, do you?"
"Yes- Your sister's butler did. He kept insisting he do it. I don't think he trusts me still,"
"Well it's no surprise with how we met and where. Not too many people would be very trusting of it. Especially if they knew you were a reaper. "
"I guess you have a point- but I am your butler now not him. It is my duty to tend to you at becking call while his is to tend to your sister. Besides because of our bickering all last night Sebastian stepped in and did it for us." My face turned a deep red as an image of Sebastian appeared in my head. Clutching myself I shivered, just the thought of him touching me in such a way made me shiver. Why? I don't know but, the feeling of embarrassment quickly turned to rage in a matter of seconds and before I knew it I was taking off down the hall to find the perverted demon.
"SEBASTIAN!" I screamed at the top of my lungs shaking the very foundation of the town house as I stormed through like a hurricane still in her nightgown.
When I heard familiar voices I slammed open the door to Ciel's study and stared down both the master and servant as all eyes in the room fell on to me. Ciel's face turned a deep red like it was his first time seeing a girl in a nightgown. My sister was stricken with shock as if caught off guard by such an action. Demetri's head fell in disappointment and winced when he saw me; and Madam Red and Lau along with their extras just sat there in silence frozen with shock.
"Lady Raven!" Lucian called out as I walked further into the room and over to Sebastian glaring. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" I screamed. Lucian joined the stunned crowd as Sebastian went about his job like he had no idea what I was talking about.
"Forgive me Lady Raven, but I have no clue what it is you are talking about."
"Bloody Hell! Why the hell did you change me?!"
"Change you?"
"Yes, change me," I answered motioning to my nightgown, "Lucian said you changed me!" I screamed staring down the devil himself in complete rage. Sebastian looked to the ceiling as if trying to make sense of what it was I was talking about before picking up a tea pot to pour his master some more tea.
"Awe yes, I do remember changing you- but only because your's and your sister's butler were bickering about something, and if we had waited any longer you'd either be dead or hospitalized yet again; and my master has enough on his plate already."
"And you think that gave you the right to change me!" my face was turning redder with every second passing by. "Yes, besides it's not like you have anything worth seeing," he replied, my mouth dropped in complete surprise.
The nerve he had to say that! I was completely enraged now which wasn't good because I had a really bad anger issues. Clenching my fists so tightly it almost turned my knuckles translucent. My teeth grinded as my eye brow twitched in agitance and without thinking I thrusted my fist forward towards his face only fo him to move out of the way. I stumbled forward almost falling out an open window in Ciel's study until Sebastian caught me and pulled me in close.
"A lady should never raise a fist to a gentleman- it could end badly for her," Sebastian said rather seductively with a grin before leaning in close to me where his lips were close to my ear, "besides I know what it us you are hiding," he finished before twirling me out of his grasp and into Lucian's.
I blinked completely at a loss as Sebastian turned towards me and bowed. "Please do forgive me Lady Raven, I'll keep in mind to not change you without your permission," Sebastian's whole demeanor changed and everyone acted as if what just happened never happened. A shy laugh escaped from Lucian who stood behind me. "I'm sorry everyone, I'll be taking my mistress now," he said as he grabbed hold of me and dragged me out into the hall staring to lecture me about how unlady- like and unprofessional I was being, but I just zoned him out trying to figure out what exactly just happened.
Did I just fall into a demon's hallucination? I wandered as Lucian dragged me back to my guest bedroom and helped me prepare for the day.
Once we were finished with my morning routine I decided it was better I not go back to where the others were because I knew once I went back inside I would get yet another lecture. No- Instead I decided to take one last look at the last two crime scenes to see if what I found at the other three crime scenes I'd find at the last two. Of course my idea of the day's events for me wouldn't go over to well since now I had my butler with me. Such a kill joy.
As the two of us drove into town I watched people pass in and out of stores. When we had finally come to a complete stop I scooted over to the door and waited till Lucian opened it and helped me out, then straightened out my dress's skirt. So annoying- so heavy. I hope the future has better clothes than this, I thought until I was snapped from them by someone in the distance calling my name.
"RAVEN?!" I heard and turned my head just in time to see a fourteen year old girl take off toward me in a fast sprint. My face paled as she neared. Her long strawberry blonde hair whipped in the wind and her extremely vibrant hazel green eyes glistened in the sun that shined overhead. In a matter of seconds I was tackled to the dirty London Street, the air knocked out of me.
"AH! LADY RAVEN!"
"HAZEL!"
"Hello Hazel-"
"Hiya Raven sweetie- it's been so very long since I last saw you," the girl blurted out as she picked me up and cradled me, petting my now messy hair. "Yes it has," I choked out trying to regain a normal breathing before pulling away and being helped up by my butler. "Lady Raven are you alright? You aren't hurt are you?" he franticly asked as I yet again went back to straighten and clean off my skirt. "I am fine Lucian," I assured him before turning my attention back to the girl who tackled me to the ground that was now being lectured by a man dress in a navy blue butler attire with semi long bright red hair and bright unnatural yellow eyes.
Hazel Nightingale, daughter of Henry and Sarah Nightingale; step daughter to John Hawthorne. Hazel was the last of her family to survive a series of tragic accidents that had happened and last in line to be another of the secret society cops that worked just under the queen like me, my sister, and Ciel. She was the queen's fox- also known as the queens spy. The Nightingale family were well known for their slyness which was exactly why they were asked to take up such a job. More than likely on the ladder they would probably be placed first as the intel for the queen, then Ciel's would come second; seeing as they are the watchdogs or rather the investigators, and mine would come last being as we did the dirty work. This does not include the last family which doesn't have much of an important role like us three.
From research there were four families who worked beneath the queen, each given a specific job to do for the safety of the jolly old country of Great Britain. The titles were Spy, investigator, assassin ( If called for it), and finally the cleaners who were stuck having to clean up the aftermath after the three others had done what needed to be done. But as I mentioned above they aren't very important at the moment.
Any who snapping out of my thoughts I walked towards my old childhood friend Hazel and returned the hug she had tackled me down to the ground for, cutting hers and her butler's argument short. "You still fight with him?" I questioned pulling away from our hug as she brushed her hand through her hair and blew a single strand from out of her face.
"Yes, but only when he starts to lecture me for something as childish as hugging someone."
"THAT WAS NOT HUGGING! YOU TACKLED HER TO THE GROUND! WHAT IF SHE WASN'T WHO YOU THOUGH SHE WAS?"
"Oh hush up Loki. If I was wrong about Raven being Raven then I'd just apologize and be on my way."
"That is not how it works Ms. Hazel." Her red headed butler, Loki, deadpanned as Hazel turned from him brushing him off like a piece of lint on her sleeve. It made him rather red in the face which made me chuckle a bit. Looking back Hazel and I had fun tormenting her butler cause no matter what we did he could not do anything about it, as orders from Hazel's mother who was the original master of him.
As I slipped into a short walk down memory lane of all the things her and I did to make her butler's life a living hell I giggled to myself before I was awoken by Hazel snapping her fingers right in front of my face.
"What are you giggling about?"
"Huh? Oh- it was nothing. Just remembering all the stuff we use to do when we were younger. So how have you've been?"
"Bored-There's not much too actually do when you're playing dead to the world and only have a few familiar faces to hang around."
"Sounds fun."
"Not exactly- it's gotten rather drab and boring lately so I've been traveling all around London. I thought it would cease my boredom but-"
"It hasn't?"
"Yes, what have you've been up to? I haven't seen you since you were four just a few days before your birthday. I honestly thought you had died."
"No, it's just my sister and I have been busy and the grief of our parents struck us pretty hard when they had passed the day before our fifth birthday." My eyes turned downward at the mention of my parent's death and I could feel my chest tighten. It may had happened eight years ago, but the feeling of it still followed me around as if I was waiting any minuet to awaken from this dream and find that my parents hadn't died. Hazel stared at me with concerned confused eyes as this news was new to her. "Passed?" she questioned obliviously, "Your parents died?" I nodded my head in reply afraid to open my mouth for fear of crying even though I knew full well all my tears had dried up long ago.
"When did this happen?"
"I told you- a day before my birthday. They died in a carriage accident."
"Oh? Can I ask what exactly happened?"
"All we know for sure was that their horses went crazy and they both went over a bridge and plummeted to their deaths. We buried empty caskets because their bodies could never be found."
"Oh, I'm sorry ray-"Hazel said sincerely pulling me in to another hug, this time it was more gingerly then the last one. "Its fine- it's been eight years I am over the loss. Have been for a long while now." I replied back enjoying the feel of a friendly hug until hazel said something that made me sweat drop.
"I was wondering why I got a letter from the queen about you two, I guess now it makes sense knowing that you don't have parents."
"Geez, thanks for the caring remark hazel," I dead panned still in the embrace then pulled away once more.
"So what brings you to jolly ol' London anyways?"
"A party,"
"A party? You- never pegged me to be a party kind of person."
"I'm actually not when it comes to noble parties cause their drab and boring, but this was a request from the queen. So that's why I came- that's also why me and Loki are in town. He kept bothering me about getting a new dress for this so to shut him up I came to town with him."
"The queen requested you to attend a party?"
"Yes because she doesn't trust the person throwing it."
"Well, who's throwing the party?"
"The viscount Druitt." I sweat dropped at the mention of the name knowing full well who it is she was talking about because my sister and I had met him one time and after that both of us swore to never come a crossed him again. He was one of the many perverts we had come a crossed in our time. We meet him when we were only nine. "Well then I won't keep you any longer then, I best be going now- Lets go Lucian," I chimed as I quickly turned on my heels to leave only to be grabbed up by my collar by Hazel and pulled back. "Now hold up one second, why did you just freeze up like that when I mentioned the Viscounts name?" She questioned me, I felt like I had a light shining in my face when she had said this. I sighed as my head fell in disappointment knowing I was just caught in red handed.
"Well you see, I can tell you exactly why the queen wants to attend his party, but there's hardly a chance that you'd believe me."
"Try me birdy-"I shook my head, I've always hated when she called me that. It felt demeaning to me. "Siiiiing- or else," she urged. I sighed.
"Fine- The man's a pervert and will hit on girls of any age, and he's an underground black market auctioneer"
"And you know thi-s how?"
"Well when I and Melody were nine we had company business with someone who was attending one of his parties and was invited by them so we went. While Melody was busy talking business, I was alone in the corner minding my own business when he came up to me and asked if I was alright."
"That doesn't mean he was hitting on you."
"He leaned in close and brought my face to his and tried to whisper sweet nothing's in my ear and then told me he had something to show me and next thing I know I wake up next to my sister bound with a blind fold over my face with people betting on us."
"Creepy-"
"Luckily Demetri was with us, so nothing bad happened. My sister and I swore to each other that never again would we attend one of his parties every again."
"I see why," Hazel said letting go of my collar, I rubbed my neck before she slammed her hand on my back hard, "Thanks so much for that birdy! Now I don't have to waste money on a new dress and attend the party to write the queen a detailed report on the Viscount. I have a first-hand encounter with him from you."
"That's cutting corner's Ms. Hazel,"
"SO what- It stops me from having to attend yet another drab party."
"But that's wrong to do, you have a job to do for a reason. You can't just cut corners!"
"I can and this time I will thanks to my little birdy who sung-"Hazel said patting my head like I was some kind of dog, "Now keep quiet will you? I'm the master not you-"Loki was beginning to get more angered at his outspoken master by the passing second. I can bet right now he was saying some really nasty words in his head that he couldn't say out loud. His face just gave off that look right now. Hazel turned her attention back to me.
"So now that- that's out of the way why don't you tell me what it is you're doing out here in London far from home? It must be really important because I know for a fact you and you're sister would never leave home unless something important came up"
"Well yes, that is true- we hate to be far from home. Or at least my sister does any way. We were invited over to the queen's palace for tea. She wanted to speak to us about taking up our fathers place as her song bird,"
"Oh? And how well did that go over?"
"Good given the surprises that happened."
"What do you mean?"
"well- You know how me and my sister are very much different given the fact we're twins?"
"Yes,"
"Well Melody shocked me by accepting the conditions of the job. I only expected me to take up the job but she jumped at the offer as well."
"You're kidding. Right?" I shook my head at Hazels question and her face twist in surprise, "Now that I did not expect to happen,"
"Me neither- now we've been placed on a case with Ciel Phantomhive,"
"Let me guess- the Jack the ripper case?" I nodded.
"That excat one, that's actually the reason why I am in town today. I have a suspicion I know who exactly it is committing the murders. I just have to check out the last two victim's crime scenes to make sure my suspicions are proven right."
"Mind if I pry a bit and ask you who you think Jack the ripper is?"
"I have a feeling Jack the Ripper is none other than-"
~Ciel~
Night came quick as I sat in a carriage with my aunt Madam Red, Lau, Melody, her butler Demetri and my butler Sebastian as we all went over the plan for once we arrived at the party of the Viscount Druitt. It was simple we get in, get close to the viscount and stop Jack the Ripper. My question to this was- why in the bloody hell did I have to go undercover dressed as a girl? It was demeaning to the Phantomhive name and if anyone who knew me was there it would shatter the greatness to it. I fidgeted in my dress.
"This is stupid- why did I have to dress as a girl again? We have Melody for lord sake- and not to mention Raven is a girl as well why am I stuck dressed like this?"
"Because I already had a bad encounter with the viscount and I'd rather not relive it, and we have no clue where it is Raven disappeared to. After this morning her and Lucian haven't been seen at all today."
"And I find you look cute dress as one."
"Almost identical to Lady Raven-"I heard Sebastian say under his breathe turned my head towards him glaring. Did my butler just compare me to an actually girl?! I was starting to get enraged and this corset was staring to kill me. I started to fidget again this time trying to adjust my corset so it didn't bother me as much. How can women wear such a contraption? It was more a torture device than anything else. "Sebastian why did you have to make this thing so tight? I can hardly breathe?" I huffed out agitated and sat straight back up. From the corner of my eye I can see my butler grinning his signature grin.
"Come now young master, you have nothing to complain about- it is a one-time thing unlike your aunt and fiancé and lady Melody and her sister. They have to wear it all the time so try to bear with it for a little it." I hated when he had a point, it pissed me off so much. A sigh slipped from between my lips as the carriage finally came to a stop and we all climbed out quickly staring up at the door to the viscount's home as other women and girls herded inside.
I had a feeling this was going to be one very long evening.
Walking up to the door the lot of us waited to gain entrance to the party and once inside we spilt off in our own directions. Melody went to socialize with a few people who she seem to know from the sound of it, Lau went to gallivant around with Ran- Mao, who I am guessing was a personal assistant of his in some way, Madam Red went off to socialize with the few men who were attending sucking in all the attention she was getting while her servant, Grell, stood by her side the whole time; which left Sebastian and I to stake out the party for the viscount. I was really hoping we'd find him soon.
"First things first, we need to find that murderous viscount," Sebastian chimed as we walked through the party past flirting couples and socializing people. My mind wandered a bit for a second.
"At least Elizabeth isn't here, I don't want her seeing me like this."
"I don't think you really have to worry about that young mas- I mean mistress…..I already told you before that you look strikingly similar to Lady Melody's twin sister Raven in such a get up as what you are wearing," Sebastian bit off with a crude comment. My eye twitched at such a comparison. Turning around my eyes narrowed at him in anger. "What exactly is that supposed to mean?!" I yelled quietly at him as if trying to keep my undercover job just that- undercover. Sebastian chuckled quietly a grin spread a crossed his face. "Forgive me I did not mean to strike a nerve. Funny though, Yesterday I said something quite similar to Lady Raven and she got just as angry as you did. Are you sure you aren't related to the valentines in some way my lord?" I could hear the sarcasm in his voice and continued to glare before I huffed and spun around on my heels and continued to walk along. "Yes Sebastian I am certain I am in no relations to them." I said coldly before freezing in place at the familiar squeaks of my fiancés voice. As if on cue both Sebastian and I turned around hoping that we were both just hearing things, but to no prevail we were both proven wrong.
I began to shake and stuttered caught off guard by the appearance of my fiancé at the party. Quickly Sebastian ushered me along the floor knowing it wouldn't be good for me to be seen by her. It would ruin all the work we did to get here and bring my family name to shame. As we quickly hurried to the other side my fiancés voice squeaked yet again. "OH YOU IN THE PINK! YOUR DRESS IS JUST BEAUTIFUL!" Sebastian continued to move me along farther away from Elizabeth. I was certain she was pursuing us until Sebastian found an opening and quickly hide us both from her wandering eyes.
"This isn't good- I didn't expect her here," Sebastian chimed as the two of us were hunched behind a table looking at her from a distance.
"If someone was to see the head of my family dressed this way-"
"The Phantomhive name would be ruined for generations."
I clutched the sheet that covered the table and paled at Sebastian just mention such a consequence of this action. "Let's go join Madam Red," I said glancing back at Sebastian hoping that being near my aunt would keep me from being pinned by Elizabeth. Getting up the two of us made our way over to Madam Red who as I said before were keeping herself entertained by the company of all the men who attended that party. "Looks like she's having a grand old time." I deadpanned as I glanced about the ball room my eyes falling on a rather happy looking Melody. Well from a distance she looked happy but you could see into her eyes that she was missing a something and longed for it to be near. As I stared in awe at Melody I slowly started to daze out and felt as a blush began to heat my face.
"Young mas- mistress is everything alright? You aren't starting to get a fever now, are you?" Sebastian asked as he reached out and touched my forehead. Quickly I snapped out of my daze and pushed him away. "I am fine," I chimed before being cut off yet again by the annoying voice of my fiancé Lizzy. I'm staring to wander if Lizzy isn't some kind of demon. This is the second time she found me- not a good sign. Without thinking I went to run off only to have my arm grabbed by Sebastian. "Come this way my young mistress-"he said as he began to pull me along stopping for a few seconds to inform a serve that Lizzy wanted some lemonade, even though I knew she didn't. But I can't exactly complain it did stop Lizzie from pursuing us for a bit. We were able to escape to the outside balcony and I was able to regain my composer. "Why do these things always happen to me?" I breathed before hearing someone call the lord Druitt's name. I poked my head inside the door and found a cluster of women fawning over the Viscount as if he was some god. It was kind of disgusting to me, but what do I know?
"That's the Viscount Druitt-lets go," I said and just as I stepped one foot back inside music began to play and couples began to dance about. Our subject was on the opposite side of the room, now how were we suppose to get to it? I wandered, this night was not going over well like I had hoped it would. "Damn- I'll never get close to him," I said bluntly devastated that this whole thing was for nothing. "We have no choice we will have to dance our way over to the viscount," Sebastian chimed I sweat dropped. He was joking, right? I thought before he grabbed hold of my hand and the two of us started to walk me over to the dance floor, "You really expect me to dance in public with you?!" I blurted out. We stopped a moment and Sebastian looked down at me, "You already know young master that I am one hell of a dance," He said as he placed his hand to his chest and smiled down at me. It was official Sebastian had seriously lost it if he thought I was going to dance with him in public. "You have nothing left to lose young master, besides propriety as your tutor always me to dance with you in public," I think I would rather die than go to such trouble, I thought but what came out was, "D-Do I have to?" With no reply from Sebastian her grabbed my hand and the two of us dance our way over to the viscount through the other dancing couples. Never again will I do any of this- and that is a promise.
Once we were finished dancing and the music ended I kneeled on the floor breathing heavily. WOMEN ARE INSANE FOR WEARING SUCH A CONTRATION WHEN THEY DANCE! Sebastian leaned forward helping me up.
"How can you become exhausted so easily my lady?" he asked sounding almost disappointed in me. The Sound of clapping kept me from answering as the two of us glanced up to find the Viscount staring at us.
~Raven~
"Ah, that's what I though!" I screamed out in eureka as I stared upon yet another piece of paper that said the excat same thing the last four I had found said. Hazel looked over covered in what looked to be clothes she had pulled out from one of the victim's dressers and smiled. "What'd you find?" she asked curiously getting up and making her way towards me, I was to fixed on the paper to really care how Hazel looked or what she had on her to care. "The same thing I found at the last four victims houses, and now I know for sure the murders weren't random. It's too bad really- I was hoping I was wrong." I was kind of heart broken at the facts that laid before me as I took out the papers I had taken from the last four crime scenes and laid them all out in front of me. "Hazel, Lucian, Loki can you guys look at these for me and tell me that I am not seeing things. These all say Heaven general Hospital, right?" I questioned as the other two joined me and Hazel at looking over the papers.
Lucian seemed a bit jumpy as if he was afraid we'd get caught from intruding on a closed off crime scene, I really could have cared less and Loki obviously didn't care much cause it's not like me or his master would listen anyways. We both had gotten ourselves into situations where it was impossible to get out of and still did without help from any supernatural source what so ever. As our butler's investigated the papers Hazel and I looked at each other and knew then that my suspicions were correct.
"Yes, they all say Haven general hospital- what does that have to do with anything on the jack the ripper case?"
"Look down- what was the procedures that they all paid for?" Loki and Lucian looked at all the papers again. "A Laparotomy, so- what about it?" Loki was blunt and careless in his reply while Lucian was far to distracted by the outside noises to really pay mind to what I was getting at. I got up and brushed off my skirt, "Yesterday I ran into Ciel's butler after they had finished with getting intel on the victims from the Undertaker, he told me that each of the FEMALE victims had a missing organ which just happened to be their birth canals- also know well for their tubes that harvest the female eggs," I tried to explain only to have Loki carelessly blow it off like the information was just some huge waste of time and my imagination.
"Yea, so?"
"So all the victims had a Laparotomy from the same Hospital,"
"So that means nothing- just that they were all went to the same place. I hear Heaven general hospital has quiet a well know record and beside if Jack the ripper is a doctor from there it could be anyone."
"No- not just anyone. The procedures were done by one person in particular and the only person there who had motive."
"And who's exactly do you think it is? " my eyes turned down ward as I recalled Hazel and me going under cover at the hospital to get information on all of the hospital workers. Background and all only one caught my attention. "Madam Red-"I whispered all eyes in the room fell on me. "Also known as Angelina Dalles"
Our conversation was quickly cut short by the sound of talking outside. Lucian made his way over to the window and peeked out, "I think it's time we all leave- Scotland yard is here," he said Hazel jumped to her face. "Leave the escape to us!" she screamed throwing off the clothes she was covered in and climbed out the second story window with her butler. The two landed safely in the alley and looking up Hazel winked before letting out a scream and Loki took off out of the ally from where we stood a commotion could be heard taking place. Urging us to head to the front door we caught a glimpse of some Scotland Yard cops come towards her to check and see if she was alright giving us an opening to escape the crime scene without being seen or caught.
After a bit of walking in silence Lucian decided to speak up. "Lady Raven you haven't said a single word to me since we left the crime scene is something bothering you?" I continued to walk by his side enjoying the nightly walk as thoughts ran through my head.
"I am fine Lucian, I just wished I was wrong about my suspicions."
"Why is that?"
"Because how am I going to confront Ciel about it? Madam Red is his aunt- his only living family."
"Well there is that slight chance you still could be wrong. Maybe you are miss reading all your evidence. Just because she did the surgery doesn't mean she would commit the murders."
"Yes it does," I said coldly my head trained on the ground, Lucian stopped and looked back at me, "Lucian when Hazel and I had you and Loki go get us something to eat from the busiest place in London the two of us went snooping around the hospital and looked through all of the workers personal records." I explained my voice low and blunt to the point, "When we came across Madam Red's records it said that she was in a carriage accident and lost the child she was caring along with her husband. She was cursed to very be able to carry kids again. The accident had destroyed her reproductive organs. Now tell me- if you were in her place and some whores came to you asking you to tie their tubes wouldn't it set you off? I know It would me- Cause they would be giving up the gift of giving life forever willingly just for their disgusting job and never know the joy of having a child. Like she had lost." I explained. I almost felt as if I was Madam Red for a moment like I was getting in to her head because I felt the rage at such a thought weld up inside me and I am only 12.
I could feel Lucian gave me a sympathetic look as if he saw where she and I were coming from, but just as he was about to open his mouth a scream erupted from a nearby house, catching us both off guard. Without thinking I took off towards the scream. "LADY RAVEN!" Lucian screamed to me before I rounded a corner and kicked open the door to the house which the scream had come from. Darkness consumed the house and all I could see was the silhouette of a man standing tall over a dead women's body. I clenched my teeth and glared at the silhouette as Lucian ran up behind me. "Lady Raven don't run off like that next time-"he paused a moment and looked up at what I was looking at. I dark laugh echoed through the darkness. I gasped knowing full well that I heard the tone of that laugh before.
"It's you?"
"Well it seems like I've been caught- Well I guess I get to take two souls tonight instead of just one." The voice said as the sound of a motor revved and Lucian pushed me out of the way to the ground and dodged whatever it was that was humming loudly. "Owf-"I choked out when I hit the ground and sat up, turning to face Lucian and his opponent and from the look on Lucian's face her knew very well who he was dealing with.
"Awe Lucian darling so this was where you had ran off to. Playing butler to a child?"
" Grell-"
"Oooo- someone sounds mad. I think it's a good change for you. I makes you look more like a catch then when you act all nice and caring. It's too bad I'm gonna have to kill you now that you know it's me. But at least I'll make you look lovely when I paint you red with your own blood." A red haired man said in a rather flamboyant voice before turning his head towards me. "You sit tight dear- I'll get to you next when Imp finished with him," He said pointing a weird contraption at me and smiled a big smile showing sharp shark like teeth. I began to shake in fear. "OVER MY DEAD BODY!" Lucian screamed as he jumped into the air and pulled what looked like claw gauntlets out of thin air and flew towards the red haired man who raised his contraption and locked blades with Lucian. "That can be arranged me dear boy," the man said darkly as a fight began to ensue between the two.
As I sat there in shock watching the two fight all that I could think was 'Was that the same Grell who worked for Ciel aunts?' the question kept gnawing at my insides as I tried comparing the two until I saw something dress in a red over coat hurry past in the shadows as if taking the fight as an opportunity to escape unseen- but I don't think they bet on me noticing them. As the two men fought atop the roof tops I also took the chance to go after the person in red. Thank god I had taken my medication earlier, If I hadn't I'd probably have a repeat of last night happen again except this time I would have no one come to my aid.
I followed the person quietly and waited till they turned into another alley. After a few seconds of waiting I walked into the alley and stood there confused. As clear as day you could see the other end of the alley but no one was walking down it, nor running and I was certain I didn't wait that long. What just happened I wandered as I began to quietly walk down the alley letting my eyes fix to the darkness of it so that I could see better in case the unknown subject was lying in wait but still I saw nothing. As I neared the end of the alley I let out a sigh disappointed in myself for losing the running criminal. Then turned to make my way back to where Lucian was to check up on him in case he was injured during the battle. But just as I made my way back through looking at the ground beating myself up mentally about everything I heard a whoosh and quickly ducked to the ground and started to roll as I heard metal hit concert.
They were waiting for me to come back when I had least expected it.
