I hope the curiosity hasn't killed anyone, like it did with the cat ;) I probably rewrote this chapter at least 4 times and I'm still not that pleased with the outcome. Especially with the last part. But I didin't want you to wait any longer, so here it is
Dan was lying on the bed, his hands held on to Serena's hips. She had straddled him and was sitting now on him. The past ten minutes they had bantered with each other, mock fighting over the topic if his recently purchased shirt really looked like a test screen. In Serena's eyes it did.
"No one in its right mind would wear that voluntarily, unless you want to be mocked and beaten up", she made her point once more clear.
Dan couldn't believe her. "It's a classic shirt. The sales guy was wearing one himself", he defended his choice of shirt.
Serena laughed. "Yeah, because he gets paid for it to do so and to sell them. He probably would say everything to get you to buy that… that thing. Seriously, next time just take Jenny, Blair or me with you when you need some new clothes. We have taste. I mean, two of us are fashion designers and I'm a fashion addict – you can't do anything wrong with bringing us", she smiled widely and tugged on the ugly shirt Dan was wearing. "It's a huge wonder that no one got eye cancer or any other horrible disease because of this thing."
Dan shook his head. "Sweetie, this is an original Ralph Lauren. It cost me a fortune", he stated, to make clear that for once in his life he tried to dress up like the most people on the UES. Even though he lived there for two years by now, he still preferred his old clothes style. Shopping wasn't his thing, although he could afford all the in-brands by now. At least his suits had huge names by now, Nate had made sure of that. But his daily clothes was still way more Brooklyn style.
"They definitely tricked you. And if that is really a Ralph Lauren shirt, he should immediately retire. Gross", she responded and crinkled her nose to proof her disgust. Before Dan could respond his phone started to ring. He grabbed it and gazed at the caller ID before answering it.
"Nate, what possess you to call to such a late hour? And it better be good, I was starting to get into the middle of something", he answered cheerfully, only to be slapped by Serena in an instant. They both smiled at each other, knowing all too well that Dan's words contained some truth.
"Sorry, to interrupt, but you need to come to Lexington hospital. Right away!", Nate barely brought out with a tired and broken voice.
Dan sensing the state of his best friend, got up straight away, causing Serena to nearly fall off him. She gazed at him questionably, wondering what got Dan so alarmed. "Nate, what's wrong? Did anything happen to Jenny?", Dan questioned back, being sure that this call was about his little sister. This was the only explanation for Nate's broken voice. He could hear his friend sigh heavily.
"Just come here, Dan. Fast. Your dad is already on the way."
He couldn't reply to Nate's answer, as his friend had already hung up and the line went dead. Serena was still watching him intently, seeing his face pale slightly got her worried even more. "Dan, what did he say? Has anything happened to Jenny? Is she alright?" She tried to stay calm, but her terrified voice gave her away.
Dan turned his gaze back to her, very slow. He had totally forgotten that she was sitting next to him. "I don't know. He only said that I have to come to Lexington hospital and that my dad is on the way. And… and I think he was crying", Dan recalled the recent phone call absently.
Without a warning he shot up from the bed and made his way out of the room. "Dan, where you're going?", Serena called after him and followed him quickly, although she was sure to know the answer already.
XoXoXo
Thirty minutes later they made their way into the hospital, walking straight to the information counter only to find Blair and Chuck already standing there, arguing with the nurse in charge.
"What is so hard to understand about it?", Blair snapped annoyed, "yes, we aren't her family by blood, but we are her family nevertheless. All we want to know is, where is Jenny Humphrey right now? Or at least, where is her fiancé?"
Obviously the power pair had problems to get any information about the where beings of his sister. Serena and Dan approached the counter, and before anyone could exchange pleasantries Dan immediately questioned the nurse.
"Hello, my name is Daniel Humphrey. I'm Jenny's brother and got called earlier. Where can I find her?"
The nurse gazed him over. "Mind to show me an ID? These two also tried to tell me they are family", the nurse replied as friendly as possible.
Dan got his purse out and showed his ID to the elder woman in front of him. She nodded in acknowledgment. "You're sister was brought in earlier by an ambulance, together with her fiance. She was unconscious, had lost a lot of blood. She is in emergency surgery now, her fiance is up in the waiting room. Second floor, midsection", she explained to Dan, seeing with every of her words his eyes getting worried more and more.
Dan turned around in an instant and made his way to the elevators. Serena, Blair and Chuck followed him on his feet.
"So, I assume you also don't know what has happened?", Blair asked Serena, more worried than annoyed now after overhearing what the nurse had said. She held on tightly to Chuck's hand, squeezing it way more than she normally would. Just the thought of Nate maybe losing Jenny scared her to the bones. She couldn't live her life without Chuck anymore in it, and she knew that Nate felt the same about Jenny. He had told her more than once.
Serena shook her head. "He called Dan earlier, only saying to come here. And he also called Rufus. That's all we know", Serena replied with a sad and low voice, not at all the cheery, bubbly girl that she normally was. "Dan had the feeling that Nate was crying when he called."
Blair nodded with her head, and gazed to Chuck over, who had listened to their conversation. He sighed, thinking about the pain his best friend was obviously in. Just the thought of losing Blair or Henry, not to think of both, sickened him. And here they were, making their way up to find out what had happened to Jenny.
"I had the same feeling", Chuck announced. "He was very quiet and short on the phone. I never, ever heard his voice crack in this way."
They all nodded in understanding. Neither of them had ever seen Nate cry. Not even in his worst moments.
Dan had remained silent, watching impatiently at the floor number in the elevator, praying they would finally arrive on the second floor. As soon as the door opened, he marched out and searched for the waiting room. The others following him close. They found the midsection of the floor, and short after the waiting room. When they entered it, they all froze to their spots. Neither had expected this view.
Nate was sitting on one of the benches, his head in his hands, hair ruffled. He looked like a mess. On the bench to his right was Rufus sitting, holding and caressing Bex, who was crying silent tears. Rufus just looked exhausted and tired, his gaze wasn't fixed on anything.
Serena was the first who was able to get out of her shock state and walked over to Nate. Kneeling down in front of him, laying her hands on his knees.
"Nate?", she asked silently and soft. "Nate, what happened?"
Blair, Chuck and Dan had followed her, after her movement had brought them out of their frozen status. He was startled when he heard his name and someone touched him. Nate gazed up, barely seeing his friend in front of him. Serena took a deep breath. To see his bloodshot eyes, so worried, so full of pain – it broke her heart.
"What happened, Nate?", she tried once more, realizing that he probably didn't hear her the first time.
Nate focused his gaze on her, then glanced over to see his other three best friends standing close by. All standing with earnest and worried expressions on their faces, waiting for his explanation. He sighed.
"She tried to wake me up", he started, not sure where to begin exactly. "I didn't realize at first. But then… then I heard her gasp in pain", he broke off.
His voice was quiet and filled with pain. He didn't want to relive the recent events. He already did when he told Rufus what had happened.
"In pain? Why was she in pain? What happened to her, Nate?", Dan pressed on, wanting to know why Jenny was here, and why the hell she was in surgery.
Nate closed his eyes and opened them close after, gazing straight at Dan. "She is pregnant", he announced.
Dan's eyes widened in surprise, Blair and Serena shrieked in shock, only Chuck remained without any sign of emotion.
"She is preg-nant?", Dan stuttered.
Nate nodded and sighed. "We wanted to tell you soon. We just wanted to make sure that everything was fine", he informed his friends.
Blair sat down next to him, placing an arm around him. "So there were complications?", knowing all too well how scary and complicated a pregnancy could be.
"No, actually everything was fine, until today…", Nate stopped again. "She… she came in to surprise me today, and she… she found Sage in my office and they got into a fight. I don't know what exactly happened, as I wasn't there, but in the end… Sage pushed her, and Jenny… she… she fell into my desk. This is all my fault!", he said through sobs, tears were running down his cheeks again.
Blair immediately pulled him close to her, and Serena got up to sit to his right side, stroking his back.
"This is not your fault, Nate. You couldn't know what this crazy bitch would do", Blair tried to sooth him.
"It sure is. I should have told Jenny days ago. She wouldn't have been caught off-guard, and they wouldn't have gotten into that fight. If anything happens to her or our son… I would… I won't be able to live with it", he exclaimed frustrated and hurt that he couldn't protect Jenny from the day events.
Serena sighed and stroke his back a little harder. "Nate, no one could have known that this would happen. And even if Jenny had known that Sage was working for you, it wouldn't have changed anything. Sage is a little bitch, matter of fact. Do you remember what she did to me to break her father and me up? She humiliated me in front of all New York to see. She didn't give a damn about my feelings, or her dad's. All she cares about is herself. Even if Jenny had known, pretty sure Sage still would have pulled up a fight with her", Serena told Nate to reassure him that it wasn't his fault what had happened. To see him beat himself up was more than painful for her.
Blair nodded in agreement. "S is right, Nate. Sage is a bitch. I did a lot of thinking the past days, and I think that it was Sage who send Jenny that DVD. It can't be a coincidence that she starts working for you and a few weeks later that DVD pops up", Blair chimed in.
Nate's head shot up, gazing questionably at his former high school sweetheart. "What? But how?", he asked flustered, still trying to wrap his thoughts about the recent revelations.
Blair shrugged. "We don't know yet, but that is the only explanation we have. Jasper hasn't left the UK, and Sage is the only other person who would be interested in breaking you guys up."
Dan and Serena had listened to the latest statements in confusion. What were they talking about? Jasper, a DVD?
"Uhm, mind if anyone could enlighten me? What are you guys talking about? What DVD? And since when are you keeping taps on my sister's ex?", Dan questioned all his thoughts.
Chuck stepped a little forward. "Jenny received a DVD a few days ago. It contained screen shots from her video with Jasper", he started to explain, which caused Serena to gasped. "We first thought he was back, but ever since he left New York back then I made sure to keep track of him, just in case. After everything he did to Jenny it seemed to be the best. Anyhow, he didn't leave the UK and the envelope was brought personally to their home, so someone here in town brought it. I didn't think of Sage, but my beautiful wife there did. And she is right, it can't be just some coincidence that she shows up and short after that DVD. We just need to find some proof. My PI is already working on it."
Dan was stunned. Not only over the fact that this DVD had popped up, but also that Chuck kept his PI on Jasper's feet to protect his little sister for further damage.
"Well, I appreciate your help here. Especially that you try to protect Jenny, but when exactly would anyone fill me in about the ongoing stuff in my sister's life? If this DVD showed up a few days ago, why wasn't I informed? After all I'm her brother!", he said pretty pissed off, feeling once more left outside.
"Dan, it's not that we didn't want to tell S and you, but there wasn't anything to say at that point. We first wanted to make sure that we knew who was behind it, before we all come together to debate what to do next. And honestly, what would you have done if we would have told you? Grab the phone to call that dick and try to make him admit it?", Blair responded to his accusation.
"Anyhow, this is not even important now… all we should care and think about right now is Jenny and their baby. Has the doctor said anything yet?", she finished the topic and turned to Nate again, who had leaned back in his seat.
He shook his head. "We got in and they first did all the usual medical checkup. After a few minutes they brought her up for the surgery, telling me to wait here. No one had come so far", he replied sad and broken. "I can't lose them… they're all I have."
Serena was close on crying. She had seen her friends in their worst moments, just like they had seen her in hers. But never ever did she see Nate so lost and broken. He had always been the steady rock, at least most of the times. To see him this weak scared her.
"You won't lose them. Jenny is a fighter, she always was and always will be. Just remember how hard she fought to get you during high school. She never gave up hope, and you shouldn't either", she said warmly.
Dan had sat down on the opposite bench. He could understand Nate all too well. The thought of losing Jenny… it was way too much to bear. And she was pregnant. Dan knew that Jenny had always dreamed of having her own family one day, and ever since she had gotten together with Nate that dream had definitely grown. It couldn't end this way. This was not what was supposed to happen.
"So…", he started, not sure what to say really, "it's a boy?"
Nate gazed up at him. His eyes still filled with pain and worry. "Yeah, after that fight this afternoon, I brought Jenny here to get her checked. The results were all good, so they send her home to rest. During that conversation with the doctor, he let it slip. We're getting a boy… hopefully", Nate responded sadly.
Just the thought of losing them tore his heart into pieces. Blair squeezed his hand slightly, smiling weakly at him. "We already clarified that she as well as the baby will be alright. No gray clouds above our heads any longer", she tried to sooth him again.
They waited another twenty minutes until finally a doctor showed up in the waiting area. "Mr. Archibald?", he asked and gazed over the waiting crowd that had formed.
Nate shoot up in an instant. "Is she alright? What about our baby? When can I see her?", he fired his questions towards the elder man.
The doctor smiled genuinely, he knew all too well how family members reacted in these situations. "I'm Dr. Charleston, and I was in charge during the surgery. Dr. Meyers informed me about your visit earlier this day with your fiance. And to answer your question, the surgery went well. Nevertheless, Jenny lost quite a lot of blood, which caused her unconsciousness when she was delivered here. We were able to stable her condition. Shall we sit?", he explained and pointed his hand out to the bench.
Nate sat down again, Blair and Serena hadn't moved but listened intently. Just as Dan, Chuck, Rufus and Bex. As much as they were relieved that Jenny's state was stable, they were still worried. Dr. Charleston took a seat next to Dan.
"During a pregnancy bleedings can occur, Mr. Archibald. But not all of them need to be bad", he clarified and tried to ease the young man in front of him, who obviously went through a very rough time right now. Nate nodded in understanding.
"Of course it is always better to see a doctor though, and after that incident this afternoon, it was a necessity to come here. Anyhow, let me assure you that this incident hasn't caused any of Jenny's symptoms", Dr. Charleston continued to explain the current situation.
Nate's eyes widened in surprise. "It didn't?", he asked in astonishment.
The doctor shook a little his head. "No, it didn't. Of course such a collision can cause trouble, but in this case, it didn't. The bleeding would have happened anyway. Let me clarify this… as I said bleedings can occur during pregnancies. Some because the female body is still adjusting to the pregnancy and hasn't quite figured that the monthly menstruation isn't necessary anymore. This mainly happens during the first few weeks. One of the reasons that some women realize quite late that they are pregnant. Other bleedings can be caused by light injuries of the labia or the cervixes. And in some cases it can be caused due to multiple pregnancy", he explained a few reasons.
Everyone had listened in silence and they were more than curious what caused Jenny's bleeding. "So, what does it mean for my sister Jenny", Dan questioned, still trying to comprehend what was going on.
"Well, Jenny's case is difficult to be honest. I never witnessed anything like this during my career. Her tests earlier today were all fine, but something slipped through, or better wasn't seen during the ultra sound. In defense of my colleagues it was hard to see", Dr. Charleston explained.
Nate was now more confused than ever. "I can't follow, what do you mean?"
"We missed your second baby", he announced. Nate's eyes grew wide, so did Dan's and Serena's. Blair remained unfazed, but she wasn't even sure if she understood him right. Twins?
"So, my baby girl is getting twins? How is this difficult?", Rufus spoke out for the first time since his son had arrived.
"Normally it's not, Mr. Humphrey. Although it can be difficult at certain times. But in this case we had to face a problem that we hadn't seen in a multiple pregnancy before. Let me explain, one of the fetus grew just as normal as it should. That is the boy we saw on the ultra sound. The second fetus however was still halfway within the oviduct, which caused the bleeding and our problem to save both and your daughter", he replied earnest to the father of his patient.
Blair and Serena paled, both reaching out for Nate to support him, knowing how hard it must be for him to hear all this. Chuck sat down next to Blair. Even though he had been the strongest one so far, this information also got him to his core.
"And what does this mean now? Were you able to save them all?", he asked the questions which were in everyone's head.
Dr. Charleston smiled weakly and placed a hand on Nate's. "It wasn't easy. We never had this situation before. It's not uncommon that tubal pregnancies happen. But not with another fetus in normal growing. We had never witnessed this before. But for now, yes, they are all save. Nevertheless, we have to keep Jenny here, not only for recovery and observation. The second fetus is not as developed as her brother. To assure that both babies are delivered healthy, we need to keep Jenny here and monitor her."
Nate felt like a thousand weights were lifted from him. She was alright, and so were their babies. His tears started falling freely. Without any warning he threw his arms around the doctor sitting in front of him. "Thank you! Thank you so much for saving them!"
The doctor chuckled slightly. "You're more than welcome. But it's still a long road to go. Jenny is still unconscious, in this case from the anesthesia. But if you like, you can go and see her. Please, only two persons at the time."
Nate nodded and gazed over to Rufus and Dan. Dan turned to his father. "You go first, I'll follow later", he assured him.
Rufus only nodded and started to walk towards the door. Nate had gotten up to, but before following the doctor out he suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Nate, you're alright?", Blair asked, still concerned.
"Did you say earlier her brother? Are we becoming a baby girl?"
"Yes, you're second baby is going to be a girl", Dr. Charleston confirmed.
Nate was sitting for nearly an hour next to Jenny's hospital bed. She hadn't woken up yet. Her face was pale and a couple of infusions were attached to her arms. It still felt so unreal to him. He had started to stroke her face nearly fifteen minutes ago, reassuring her over and over again that everything would be alright. Telling her that he couldn't wait to take her and their babies back home.
Rufus and Bex had left earlier, driving home to get some of Jenny's and his clothes from their house. He wasn't sure where Chuck and Blair had gone, but they surely would be around somewhere. So would Dan and Serena. They all had refused to leave his or Jenny's side.
All silent knock was heard before the door cracked open a little. Dan came silently in, followed by Serena. He held a coffee out for Nate, who took him gratefully and nodded, taking a sip. They all watched Jenny sleep for a bit in silence, all of them lost in their own thoughts.
"What time is it?", Nate finally broke the silence, his voice hoarse from the lack of talking lately.
Dan gazed at his watch. "Close to 8am. You should sleep a little, Nate. Honestly, you look awful", he said sincere.
Nate eyed him over, a small smile crept up his face. "Still better than you and your shirt, I bet. You went shopping without the girls, huh?", he mocked his friend to lighten the mood.
Serena started to giggle and pointed at Nate, while turning to Dan. "See, I told you this shirt sucks", she joined the banter.
"Whatever", Dan muttered, sitting down on the chair his dad had occupied earlier. "We can watch her and call when she wakes up. You need some rest, man. You won't help her when you break down exhausted", Dan tried to convince his friend to go home for some much needed sleep.
Nate only shook his head. "I promised her not to leave her side. I'll keep my promise", he replied sternly.
Serena walked up to him and knelt down as she had done before in the waiting room. "Nate, they said it could take some time for her to wake up. The blood loss, the surgery, her body needs to recover and that can take some time. We won't leave her side until you get back, promise. She needs you healthy and strong, and right now… you're far from being both. Go home, sleep and we'll call the second she moves the tiniest part of her body", she gazed intensely at him, her voice concerned but yet convincing.
He sighed and closed his eyes briefly. He got up and hovered over Jenny. "I'll be back soon, my love. Dan and Serena will stay with you. I love you and our babies", he whispered to her before placing a soft kiss on her forehead and then her lips.
He was on his way back home, but his thoughts were back at the hospital. He didn't want to leave, but they had been right – he needed to. His entire body screamed for time to rest and sleep. And he was willing to give in to that urge. But all the sudden a new idea struck his mind and he sat up.
"Andrew, please take me to the Spectator first. There is some issue I have to take care of before I head home", he addressed his driver to change their destination.
"Sure, Mr. Archibald", Andrew replied and turned the car in the new direction.
Nate walked in and straight towards his office. He was quite surprised when he saw that Carol was sitting on her desk again. A small smile made it to his exhausted and tired face.
"Carol, you're back. Glad to have you here again", he said honestly, really happy to see his assistant again.
She gazed up and smiled widely. "Yeah, the doctors finally allowed me to return. And I can't say that it was too early, I hated to just lay around", she responded to him, taking then a close look at her boss. "God, Nate, what happened to you? You look like you haven't slept in days. Everything alright?"
Nate's smile vanished in an instant. He stepped closer to her desk and walked around to take a sit on it. He sighed heavily, but if he trusted anyone at his office to the fullest, it was Carol.
"Actually, no. Jenny is pregnant and she got in a fight with Sage yesterday, ending in Sage attacking her", Carol gasped and her eyes widened over his silent explanation. "The fight didn't cause anything, thank god. Nevertheless she started bleeding last night and she was brought to Lexington hospital. It turned out that we're expecting twins. The second fetus was still halfway in the tube, which caused problems. I don't know what exactly happened, but they took her into surgery. She is fine now, so are the babies, but they will keep Jenny in for a while. Maybe even the whole pregnancy, it's not clear yet", Nate told her and closed his eyes briefly while all the memories of last night washed over him once more.
He gazed at Carol intently. "I need you to take a bit over for me, Carol. I know it's a lot to ask after you just got back in, but I can't leave Jenny's side now. I'll work via my tablet. Very urgent calls you can forward or send me the number via mail and I'll call them right away. I may come in once a day, we'll have to see. Could you do this for me, please?"
"Of course, Nate. I can't believe that you both have to go through all this. I'm so sorry. Whatever I can do to make it a bit better, let me know. You can count on me and the team. Don't worry, I won't tell them", she added straight after.
He smiled weakly and hugged her. "Thank you so much. You're truly my angel", he whispered in her ear and pulled back again, gazing around the open office rooms.
"Where is Sage?", he asked in a harsh tone.
Carol gazed at him uneasy, her eyes flickered over to his closed office door. Nate saw her reaction and followed her gaze, astonishment written all over his face.
"You're kidding? She's in there?"
"I'm sorry, Nate. I couldn't stop her. She burst in here and grabbed Sage by her upper arm, then dragged her along into your office, slamming the door. She made it pretty clear that she didn't want to be disturbed. I thought it was odd, but after all she is Mrs. Bass and your best friend, so I didn't question it", Carol informed him about the earlier event.
Nate's head shot back to Carol. "Blair is in there? With Sage?", he questioned dumbfounded. Carol nodded only.
Nate pushed himself up from the table and made his way over to his office door, opening it slowly and walking in. The view in front of him kind of amused him. Both women were standing only inches apart from each other, staring directly at another with narrowed eyes. It seemed as they were playing the game who first blinks, looses.
"So, are you still denying it?", Blair asked with a cold, threatening voice.
"There is nothing I have to admit. You're fantasizing, Blair. Maybe you're getting too old and mommy-ish to see the difference between the real world and fairytale land", Sage retorted venom.
"Watch your mouth, you little stalker", she hissed back.
Sage started to laugh. "Then what, will you lecture me? I'd love to see that. Your days as Queen B are over and just because you married Chuck Bass, doesn't mean you rule this town."
Sage had barely finished her sentence, when her face was hit by the flat hand of Blair Waldorf-Bass. Her head flew to the side and an intense stinging came over her cheek.
"What the hell? You fucking bitch…", Sage spat out furious and was about to assault Blair when Nate decided to make his presence known.
"It's enough, both of you!"
Their heads turned around, both surprised to see him standing there.
"Nate? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Jenny?", Blair asked astonished.
"I could ask you the same, Blair. I was on my way home, take a short nap, but decided that I'd rather talk to Sage today than tomorrow", his eyes darted over to the young brunette in question. "Mind to leave us alone, Blair?"
She gazed at him skeptically. "I'm not done with her yet", she clarified that her conversation with Sage wasn't over.
"You can continue when I leave, but for now, please leave us alone", Nate said friendly and motioned to the door.
Blair made her way over to him, looking him in the eyes to decipher what he was up to. She could still see the hurt and concern from earlier that night, but also quite a lot of anger and frustration.
"I'll be outside", she announced and left straight after.
Nate stood for a while still after the door was closed behind Blair. He only gazed sternly at Sage, who started to feel more and more unease under his intense stare.
"We thought you wouldn't come in today", she started weakly to break the heavy silence with some casual conversation.
Nate stepped closer. "I wasn't, but I figured that I'd rather clarify some things with you today. What the hell were you thinking to attack Jenny yesterday?", he spat angrily.
Sage huffed and rolled annoyed her eyes. "Jeez, why is it always about her? what's even so special about her? She is a fucking bitch, that's it. I mean, come on, she even fucked your best friend", Sage growled in frustration.
"Dare you! She made mistakes and paid for them, like we all did. She is my fiance, and you'd better accept that. There is no you and I left."
"You can't be serious, Nate! We were so much better than the two of you! Can't you see that? We belong together, we always did!", she cried out desperate.
"You're fooling yourself", he scoffed, "Jenny is meant to be at my side, and I'm on hers. That's how it will be. Like it or not, she will be my wife and the mother of my children. We never worked, Sage. Not one single day."
"How dare you to say that! That's not true and you know it! God, this bitch messed with your head so massively that you can't even see straight anymore. You love me, Nate, just like I love you", Sage responded determined and stepped forward to touch Nate's cheek.
He immediately ducked away and glared at her. "For god's sake, Sage! Grow up! She never messed with my head, cause matter of fact is I LOVE HER! Just her! I always did since I got to know her, it just took me too long to realize it. You want the truth?", he questioned her.
"Fine, let's lay it all out on the table. Truth is, I never loved you. Not one single day. Yes, you were hot and yes, you turned me on. But show me one twenty-one year old college guy who wouldn't be turned on by a seventeen year old who wants to fuck him. Come on, we had our fun, but that was it. It was never something serious between us and if you imagined it was – well sorry, it wasn't for me. I did care about you, but I never loved you. I always wanted Jenny, I just didn't realize it until she came back to town."
Silent tears had started to escape Sage's eyes. She was looking at him mirthless. "You're lying. You only say that to hurt me, because I hurt your precious Jenny", she spat out.
"No", he responded determined, "it's the truth. I was never in love with you, not one single second. You've been a good fuck and that was it!"
Her eyes widened in shock as realization dawned on her. He was telling the truth, she had only been a toy for him. One in a long row of girls. "I thought I was special to you", she whispered barely audible and weakly.
Nate shook his head. "Jenny is, and always was and will be. She is my life", he clarified for his ex-girlfriend, wondering now why he ever dated her.
"GOD! I HATE YOU, NATE!", Sage screamed out.
A wry smile crossed his features before he spoke up. "Well, finally we're on the same page, cause that's exactly how I feel about you. Jenny is pregnant, and thanks to your attack yesterday I had to take her to the hospital", Nate had no problem lying to her, somehow it was true.
Sage eyes had widened and she paled when hearing his words. She is pregnant? He will become a father?
"I nearly lost my unborn son and daughter, not to think of the love of my life", Nate continued unfazed. "I think it's pretty obvious that I'm not keen on seeing the reason for it around here. You have twenty minutes to pack up your stuff and get the hell out of my offices and my life. And this time for good! I never want to see you again, Sage. If I do, I'll make your life hell on earth. I don't know if you had anything to do with the DVD we got, but I'm sure you did. As I assume Blair is here because of that, so I'll let her handle it. So, this is it. Goodbye and have a nice life", he stated and walked to the door, opening it and walking through.
"She's all yours, Blair. Carol, I fired Sage. She has twenty minutes to gather her personal belongings." Without a further word Nate left the office rooms to head home and get fast back to Jenny, leaving the two women stunned behind.
so, the last part didn't turn out as I wanted. I had it pictured on my way to work, but as soon as I sat in front of my laptop that evening - it was gone. I just hate it when that happens. I had such a good word fight between Nate and Sage in mind, and now... well, it has to do. Hope you liked it anyways.
There will be three more chapters to come. Thanks for all the reviews so far. You guys are amazing! It's way more fun to write with some feedback. Enjoy your weekend!
