Oh my God! I am so sorry I have been MIA for so loooong! I finally logged on and I realized how I have unfinished business! Forgive me .
Alison woke up next to Cheshire, very early in the morning. The sun was only just rising. Alison guessed it was only a little past 6am.
She looked up, seeing that Cheshire was still asleep. He looked younger sleeping, more relaxed. He had a very laid-back personality, but she noticed that he had a lot of tension. She figured that maybe he was just putting up a front, so that people couldn't see how worried he was sometimes.
She gave a small smile and slipped out of bed. She grabbed a shirt and a pair of pants then slipped into the bathroom to change.
Looking in the mirror, she noticed that she looked a lot more refreshing. More color in her face, hop in her step, light in her eyes.
Maybe her falling into this world wasn't so bad.
When she came back out, Cheshire was up. He yawned big, stretching like a big kitty.
"Morning." he yawned. She smiled a little.
"Good morning."
He looked outside, then back at her. "So...next is the 4th Alice?" he asked.
Alison nodded. "Yeah, do you know where to go now?"
He shrugged. "The last place is an old nature trail. If we go down there, maybe we can find the next Alice."
She grabbed her sword. "Lets go."
After saying goodbye and receiving supplies like cookies and apples, Alison and Cheshire left. He showed her the way to the path he mentioned, which started with a nice big sign that had pretty golden hearts all over it that said "Half and Half Path."
"Why is it called that?" she asked Cheshire. He shrugged.
"I wouldn't know."
Alison started walking, but stopped when she felt a tug on her pants. She looked down and saw Cheshire in cat form.
"Carry me?" he purred. She sighed and sheathed her sword, lifting him and cradling him close.
"Fine, but keep your paws to yourself." she said. He chuckled.
Alison walked for about 15 minutes before she stopped and listened, hearing some voices. It was singing.
She shook Cheshire. "Hey, wake up. I hear singing." she said quietly. He yawned, then listened.
He jumped down and changed to a human.
"It's this way." he said, walking. Alison jogged along, hating how long his legs were compared to hers.
They stopped behind some bushes, peering over. It was a clearing.
Set up was a table, filled with sweets, flowers as a centerpiece, and two place settings. A boy and a girl sat there, giggling and singing the 4th Alice verse of the song.
"And as this past, two children walked through the woods."
"Partaking in tea underneath the trees they never part."
"They found an invitation to the queen."
"It. Was. The. Ace of Hearts!"
"The Fourth Alice was a duo of curiosity."
"Both were lost and could not find the boat where they began."
"And so they ran through countless open doors so recklessly."
"A brother and a sister running wild through Wonderland."
"A stubborn elder sister."
"A witty younger brother-"
"Hey!"
They stopped abruptly and turned. Cheshire had interrupted, looking like he had a headache.
"Who are you?" the girl asked, sipping her tea.
"I'm Cheshire. Are you two the fourth alice?" he asked. Both looked at each other and smiled.
"Yes, we are." they both said. "We're closer than any other Alice."
"What do you mean?" Alison asked, sitting walking over with Cheshire. The boy and girl had blonde hair, and blue eyes. From the looks of it, they were twins. The girl had short hair, wearing a shirt and tan shorts. Her brother wore the same, but his hair was in a small ponytail, and his shorts just a little longer.
"My name is Rin, and this is my brother Len." said the girl. "We came here on a boat but we ended up lost. So we set up our tea party here. Want to join us?"
Alison nodded, sitting with Cheshire. They were offered tea and sweets, but both politely declined. "What do you mean that you're the Alice that has gotten farthest?"
They both smiled. "We traveled through many doors to get here where we are, but we saw all the other Alice's die. Do you know what makes us an Alice?"
Cheshire looked at Alison, then back at them. He seemed to be deep in thought.
The brother spoke up. "All of us, the Alice's, were once from the mainland, not Wonderland. But we were trapped here. Have you seen the white rabbit? That's the mastermind of this game."
"Game?" Alison repeated. In her mind, she wondered just who were they up against? Who could treat this as a game?
"Yes. And so far, we are the leading players."
Cheshire stared at Alison, worried about her, and wondering how he's going to get her home now?
"But, do you realize it?" the boy asked.
"What?" Alison said, looking at him.
"You're the 5th Alice."
