Invasion of the Cubes
Rose was in her backyard on her childhood swing. July was as all july's in London: Hot, Rose was wearing a cute ruffled blue skirt a sleeveless white shirt and her brilliant red hair was tied up, like always, in a bun. She was eating a lemonade popsicle. As she'd swing back and forth., her thoughts a million light years away and many centuries over.
Rose wanted to stay earthbound for while and the Doctor had respected, though he had gone stir crazy after a few minutes eventually leading to him doing all of her grandfathers chores, before finally collapsing in the living room.
As a show of appreciation, her grandfather decided to entertain the Doctor with a game of tennis on the Wii, and was currently wiping the floor with the Doctor.
Clara was out with her girlfriend, on a date, pretending to be a tourist. Niral, Clara's girlfriend, was a tallish woman with dark skin with black hair and strange golden cat like eyes. Niral had short hair and was usually style in a Mohawk with two braids on either side and the middle loosely standing up. almost like static.
She met Clara through Unit and was actually 1/4 alien herself. her grandmother had fallen in love with a human turned Cheetah person.
While Niral would usually dress in punk rock like clothing, Clara would wear her usual dress. Today's was red with small white dots, her hair done in a french style bun.
But Rose's thoughts were not on the now but in what had happen a few months ago in Sahara, she knew she had at least 5 to 10 missing minutes from the moment she had stared at the retreating back of her sister/not sister, up to the alleyway that the Doctor had found her.
Her Vortex Manipulator was also missing, she still had the battery she had bought, so perhaps it had been stolen, but it would useless unless= they had a new a battery.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't realize something was wrong until something heavy crashed into her, She felt a strong heat pass by where her head had been a few seconds ago before falling out of the swing and unto the floor a heavy weight on her on top of her. Her knee hitting one of the tree roots, the Doctor, had already started pulling her up. keeping hold of her hand he gave the cube a quick glance.
"Come on" he said to Rose as he pulled her into the house. looking back Rose could see the black cube following them laser prepared to shoot again. She was running on adrenaline so she felt little to no pain on her leg, or in the tight hold the Doctor held on her wrist.
When they reached the wardrobe Tardis in the living room the Doctor shut the door behind them just as the black cube slammed into the door.
Once inside rose saw her grand father running toward her before she was engulf in a hug.
"Thank goodness sweetheart you're alright." Rose wrapped her arms around him and after a few seconds he pulled back, both turning to look at the Doctor who was on the phone with Amy and Rory already pressing the buttons for de-materializing.
It was a few minutes later that, Amy talking on the phone her scottish accent more pronounced than ever with her panic and Rory holding Melody, began to appear.
Amy shut her phone with a rolled of her eyes."Raggedy man what is going on? Why was I hiding in a closet from a black cube?"
"The cubes started to activate, all at the same time why?," he answered at the same time he ruffled his hair before realising what he was doing and fixing it again.
"ROSE" Rose was startled from his loud yelling she was sitting on one of the jump seats around the council.
"What am i missing, something big something obvious."
"Well, Doctor usually the news lady in the telly-" the Doctor whirl around rapidly, almost losing balance, before rounding in on Wilf. "Fantastic, Wilf you are brilliant look at you! The domestic approach, great approach!" He announced as he reached over to Rose's hand he noticed a soft out line of a bruise from his earlier hold, he gave her a pained look before gently kissing it. Putting on a big smirk he twirled around, following a strange hand movement, before pushing a green button.
A monitor appeared with a familiar black woman who was in the middle of a sentence "scanning the world's information networks,and the internet news reports from all over the word reporting that some of the cubes have caused injuries, many are currently hospitalize and the government officials are asking the people to not go near the cube's for they are dangerous."
"Wait a minute" Rose interrupted, "Doctor doesn't this remind you of Van Straten's Dalek?"
The Doctor turned to look at her, ROse was always good at finding those small detail that elude him, Rose realising that the Doctor didn't understand.
"Doctor remember the dalek looked through the internet and gained the knowledge and was looking for in-"
"Information" That was the moment when the Doctor realised the whole plan, "a slow invasion".
What ever he was going to say next was cut off as Rory's phone rang. Amy moved to get Melody as Rory spoke on the line. Rolling his eyes and whispering "rude"
What ever he was going to say next was once again cut as the Doctor quickly pulled out his psychic paper opening it as if it was a Flip phone.
"what is it Doctor?" Rose asked.
"I'm being summoned to the Tower of London."
"great" ROry said "i need you to drop me off at the Hospital, they've just called to help assist the injured, they are understaffed."
Wilf stood up, "let me volunteer i have some basic training in first aids from the war."
"any help we can get would be great" Rory said as he placed his hand on Wilf's shoulder.
Rose stood up to try to convince her grandfather otherwise, to insist he stayed in the Tardis where it was safe, when a sharp pain went up to her leg making her yell out in pain before falling her good knee, the Doctor was next to her in a flash.
"Rose! Are you ok? what's wrong?" the Doctor fussed before making a face at her knee where a large purple/blue-ish bruise was showing. Rory made the Doctor scoot over as he inspected her leg.
"We need to get that checked. it might be just a bruise of a hairline fracture." he announced. the Doctor stood up in a flash ready to take her to the infirmary.
"Doctor" Rose stopped him, "you need to go to unit, I'll stay behind with Rory and grandfather."
"No, i know more than anybody else in the universe about Gallifreyan biology they could feed you something and make it worse."
Rose rolled her eyes. "I know the basic I've been studying you know."
The Doctor was reluctantly pulled to the side by Wilf, as Rory scooped Rose up with a swift kiss to Amy he made his way out.
"Doctor, Clara gave me this" he pulled out a stun gun, as the Doctor made a face to it. "She's my granddaughter and i will protect her. Clara taught me the basics to turn it on and off..."
With a deep sigh Wilf saw his age appear on the doctor's eyes as he stared at the stun before shaking his head. he pulled out his psychic paper and handed it to Wild closing his hand around it. "I'd prefer if you didn't need to use it."
Wilf nodded and saluted "Of course you, me, both."
He pocketed the gun and the strange alien paper and made his way out. With a weary sigh the Doctor, with Amy and Melody on board made their way to the Tower of London both leaving their hearts behind in the Hospital.
Rose had her leg bandaged, the female nurse had put some soothing lotion to lower the swelling, before gingerly wrapping it.
Rose then insisted on helping, arguing with Rory that she would do more good up and about than sitting and occupying a bed where a real injured person might need, they got her a wheelchair and got her delivering supplies from one corner to the next.
Her grandfather was helping with the children some with small injuries or with parent admitted in the hospital, he kept them calm with stories of aliens he once met that look like cacti.
It was as Rose was looking for more supplies an empty hallways closet that she notice to male nurses wheeling out a patient into a broken down lift..
"Oi, you two! What are you guys doing?" they turned around and Rose had a terrible flash back of the mask zombies. She quickly dropped the supplies, and tried to turn the wheel chair only to have it get stuck on the supplies she herself had dropped. As she realized they were getting closer she stood up to try to run only the sharp pain returned before she felt a prick on her neck and she fell unconscious.
Rory was worried, Rose was supposed to be there with fresh new supplies. Wilf hadn't seen her either. He began to ask people who pointed him towards the out of order lift. As he rounded the corner he see's her being wheeled into the out-of-order lift by the false orderlies.
"Hey stop that!" he rushed over in a panic followed after them into the lift only to find it empty. punching the wall in the lift he realized that it housed a portal.
He steeled himself before rushing through,it took him to what appeared to be an alien ship's cockpit, He of course see's patients in bed, and upon closer inspections he realised the patients had all been kidnapped over the entire year.
He saw Rose on the far edge
"Rose!" he whispered as he began to make his way to her but before he is able to reach her, Two orderlies close in on him from behind, quickly injected him with sedatives, knocking him out.
The Doctor and Amy arrived at the hospital having followed the signal's source's origin to the hospital.
The Doctor quickly made his search looking for Rose only to find Wilf first, thinking it would shorten his time before meeting Rose if he asked Wilf where she was first, he quickly approached him pain in his chest consistently growing worse.
"Wilf great to see you! are you ok? where's Rose? he said this with no pause, wilf just gave him a weird look before answering him.
"Oh Doctor, Rose? she's around, she's delivering supplies for the nurses and doctors'."
The Doctor was turning around to end this conversation quickly so that he could make his way to find Rose, when out of the corner of his eye he sees a girl sitting by herself holding a cube. Not one to leave a child alone he moved over to talk with her.
Amy on the other hand approached Wilf, "sir will it be ok if i left my daughter here with you? We might be going into something dangerous."
"Of course sweetheart I'm in charged of all of this youngster another one wouldn't be a bother." he took little Melody from Amy. Wilf having raised a very wilful one year old before (donna)began making Melody laugh at his faces.
The Doctor on the other hand, discovered that the little girl with the active cube was actually a simple android that was overseeing the entire operation.
The Doctor shuts her down, unfortunately for him, the few kids who where paying attention looked at him in fear.
"No, no, no she was a robot, i don't hurt kids." the Doctor defended himself .
"Yeah right, bet you say that to all the kids." one of then said as he pulled his little sister away from the crazy guy. the Doctor pouted, luckily most kids had already fallen asleep.
Before he could respond to defend himself he collapsed in pain and Amy turns quickly over to him.
"What's wrong with him?" Wilf panicked, As Amy quickly pulled up the Doctor with all of her strength, before pulling him unto the a nearby room and away from frighten kids.
"He only has one heart working right now and one heart is not enough to keep him alive." Amy answered Wilf. As she quickly set the doctor on a bed Noticing one of the familiar instruments Amy quickly grabbed a defibrillator.
"Do you know how to use it?" asks the Doctor and Wilf at the same time.
With a shrug she answered."Were about to find out."
the Doctor begins to panic and implore, Amy not to do it but she ignored him and quickly shocked him, restarting the Doctor's other heart. Melody laughed and giggle at seeing the doctor give a very (in his mind) manly shriek of distress.
Feeling his heart restart, though thankful, the Doctor turns to Amy "never do that again, you were lucky this time Pond but you could have cause serious damage had i been anything but a time lord.."
"It work though!" she answered
"Time Lord biology is the only thing that saved me, those instruments are used only by professional. wouldn't want to give kids a wrong messe like anybody can do it."
With a sigh AMy raised her hands "What ever Doctor "
the doctor kissed her for head "Thank you though"
The Doctor, having given up on searching for Rose in the mean time, and Amy begin to make their way to the direction where the signal was coming from as Wilf returned with the children. He notice that the kids where finally sleeping.
"Seems it's just you me miss Melody" Wilfred announced to the kid who was obviously not paying him attention

They discover the same out-of-order lift and use the portal in it to reach the alien ship. The Doctor explained that they went through a wormhole and where now outside of the universe now.
"Sort of like Harry Potter" Amy asked.
With a smile the Doctor answered "exactly like Harry Potter."
Amy was looking at the Doctor's face so she saw the exact moment he found Rose. His eyes normally green turned black as fury and concern enter his eyes his smile disappeared with a snarled as the Doctor quickly made his way to her.
It was then that she noticed Rory unconscious that her earlier good mood also left her as she made her way to him to quickly wake him.
The Doctor was checking over Rose making sure there was no damage before he gently tried to awaken her. After he calling her name for the third time she began to wake up.
The orderlies that had kidnapped Rose and knock out Rory where sneaking up to him, but the Doctor, who was not in the mood to play with them, reacted quicker and disarmed them with his screw driver all without taking his eye off of Rose. who by now was looking around in confusion.
Looking up to Amy and an awaken Rory the Doctor ordered them "Rory Amy quickly return everyone that has kidnapped through the portal."
