Yuki walked through the hallway with her Artemis in her hand. She was pissed, but not necessarily at Sara. She was angry at Kaname. He obviously took their engagement as some sort of joke, the fact that he would laugh about their engagement to the guys made her angry. She gave everything for him, but yet he didn't seem to care.

She paused when she saw Aidou running down the hallway. Sweat was down his forehead. He looked nervous.

Aidou stopped when he saw Yuki. He opened his mouthe wide. "Yuki-sama! I've been looking all over for you. Where have you gone?"

Yuki didn't say anything. Aidou always had a habit of showing up wherever she went like a lost puppy. She bit her lip, hee Artemis was still in her hand.

Aidou eyed Yuki's scythe with a panicked expression. "What the hell are you doing with that giant death scythe?" Aidou asked. "Put that thing away before you poke someone in the eye with that!"

Usually, Yuki would laugh at Aidou, but this time she was not in the mood. She needed to find Sara to let off some steam.

Aidou walked closer to Yuki. His hands were up in the air. He looked scared. "Now, put the scythe down Yuki." Aidou slowly came closer.

Yuki barred her teeth. She was not in the mood to be taking orders from Aidou. "Where's Sara?!"Yuki asked, in an angry voice.

Aidou was shocked by her tone. He took a step back. "Sara? I heard she left early to go clubbing with Yuri."

Yuki was beyond agitated. "Well don't just stand there, find her for me!"
Yuki pointed Artemis at Aidou. Of course she wasn't actually going to strike him with it, she was just so pissed off that she wasn't really thinking properly.

Aidou shrunk away. "Okay, okay! Just put that thing down!"

Yuki nodded as Aidou ran the down the hallway to fetch Sarah. She let Artemis drop to the floor and sighed. She hadn't meant to yell at Aidou, she was just so agitated with Kaname.

Zero caught Yuki in the hallway by herself. She stood against the wall with her head down. Her hands were covering her face. It was like she wanted to shrink away from the rest of the world. Dressed in white, she really looked like a wandering spirit. Zero was afraid she might vanish.

"What happened?" Kaito asked Zero. He stood next to Zero with a look of confusion on his face.

Zero sighed. "Kaito, do me a favor and tell the vampire hunters that the mission is off."

Kaito looked at Yuki, and then back at Zero. He nodded and walked past them.

Zero stood next to Yuki. Zero could tell that see that she was upset about something. Maybe it was because they grew up together. They knew each other more than they gave credit for.

"Yuki," Zero whispered. He touched Yuki's shoulder. It felt colder now than it did before. Being a vampire had made her lose her warm human self, and Zero could relate.

"Yuki..." Zero said, as he traced his hand on her arm. She flinched.

Zero felt a sick feeling in his stomach as the thought of killing Yuki crossed his mind. Zero had told himself over and over again that killing her had to be done because she was a vampire. But maybe it wasn't the real reason. Maybe it was sheer jealousy, and the fact that he couldn't have her now that Kaname was in the picture. They'd never be the same like they used to be, they couldn't be childhood friends anymore. It was a tough pill to swallow.

Zero could hear Yuki's ragged breathes. He faced towards her now, his breathe lingering on her skin. At that moment, he didn't know what to say. He was never the best at sentimental words.

"Yuki, what's wrong?" Zero asked. He would probably make it worse, like he had the times before, but he had to try.

Yuki opened her eyes, they were red from crying. Silver Droplets escaped from her eyes. Zero wished he could turn back time. He'd erase all the pain and the hurt feelings, so that they could start over again.

Zero wiped the moisture off her cheek. Even though she was a Pureblood, her skin still felt soft like he had remembered.

"I yelled at Aidou," Yuki said, as she took a deep breathe. She felt like an idiot. Getting angry and then crying in some corner was not what she had in mind. Maybe she did need to be watched over like Kaname said.

A small smile appeared on the corner of Zero's lips. He thought it was funny that Yuki would cry over something so small, such as hurting Aidou's feelings. It was something that he would do on numerous occasions without having much thought. But Yuki was different from him, she was kind and caring. It was something he admired about her.

"Is that it?" He asked, as his hand grazed Yuki's hair. He pulled a strand back that was covering her eyes. He still missed the short hair, but she looked nice either way.

Yuki shook her head. "No. It's not really that."

"Yuki, tell me what's wrong," Zero said. Zero couldn't control himself. He needed to touch her, to feel her once more before Kaname took her away from him again. He pulled Yuki into a tight embrace and held her there.

Yuki looked a bit stiff until her body started to relax. Zero was still the Zero she knew, wasn't he? They used to hug each other as kids, so why did it feel so different now? It felt wrong, but it also felt so right. She his body wrapped around hers. She nuzzled her head on top of his shoulder, her teeth dangerously close to his neck. A primal need of thirst started to overcome her.

Suddenly, an image of Kaname crossed her mind. Kaname was always in the back of her subconcious, watching her with his cold eyes. She could never escape without him knowing. Yuki opened her mouthe. Her words would pierce deep cuts in her heart. "Zero, we can't be together like this. Not when I'm with him."

Zero had his body wrapped around hers. It hurt, her words. But he knew it all the same. It was better to savor this moment while it lasted. Yuki took in Zero's scent. It smelt like home, like her old life. She felt so happy, in Zero's arms. But that brought an empty sadness because she knew it couldn't last.

Yuki hadn't expected being with Kaname to hurt so much. She shouldn't have been so naive. Being a Pureblood wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. Tears flowed from her cheeks. "I gave up everything for him, my life, my friends." Yuki paused. "And you. I didn't want to give up you."

Zero could hear the words escape Yuki's mouth. He thought he knew Yuki to a T, but he didn't know that Yuki felt this way. He thought that she was perfectly happy with her new life, perfectly happy without Zero in the picture.

Zero looked into Yuki's eyes. He wanted to take her away, so he could be with her whenever he wanted. Selfishly, he wanted to have her for himself, so that Kaname couldn't have her. He wanted to start over again with Yuki.

"So don't," Zero said.

Yuki opened her eyes wide, she never looked so surprised. "What?"

"Don't marry Kaname. Come with me, we can leave our old lives behind."

"Zero," Yuki said. He looked so serious, she knew that he wasn't lying.

Zero pressed his lips against hers. His lips were soft at first, but then urgent. It was the type of kiss you were afraid to let go. It melted her inside, because she didn't know if it would be her last.

"Come with me Yuki." He held her hands, as if not wanting to let go. It spread warmth through her fingertips and up her body.

Zero kissed her once, twice, three times. Each kiss was warmer, and more passionate than the last. It eased the anxiety that Yuki felt inside. He looked her in the eyes. "Yuki I want to be with you. I want to kiss you when I want to." He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Hold you when I want to."

His body pressed her against the wall. He was so close that she could hear his heartbeat. He whispered in her ear. "I want all of you." She tugged at his back as he held onto him.

"I don't care about the consequences," Zero said, as his hands pressed against the wall. "I can't settle with just bits and pieces of you." Zero curled his hand into a fist. "Do you know how hard it is for me, to pretend like I don't care? To watch you with him when I am so clearly infatuated with you? You forever haunt my thoughts."

Yuki didn't say anything. She never saw this side of Zero, the raw side. Zero was always cold and detached from his feelings. It was nice to see this side of him. It felt so real.

Zero kissed her again, more intense this time—not even stopping to take a breath. She gasped at his roughness. He wanted her so badly.

Zero whispered in her ear. It sent prickles throughout her body. "Yuki, do you have any idea how selfish I am? Everyday I picture you in my bed, next to me. I want to ruin you, Yuki. I want to ruin you so that Kaname can't have you." He brought his lips to hers in a rough embrace. He explored her mouthe a bit. It was still not enough. He wanted to taste every part of her. He let go for a couple seconds. Yuki tried to catch her breathe.

Zero kissed her cheek. He tasted salty tears. "Yuki let's go, while we still have the chance. You can leave this all behind. I'll find a place farway where we can stay together and start a new life."

Yuki still didn't say anything at first. It was like she was in a dream, a dream that was too good to be reality. Zero continued to kiss her.

"Zero..." She finally said. It came out as a ragged whisper.

Zero's lips lingered onto Yuki's neck. He sucked on the soft skin. Yuki gasped. Zero was getting selfish, He wanted to taste her, to feel her crimson blood flow within his lips.

Zero and Yuki heard footsteps from down the hallway. It startled Zero, and he stopped kissing Yuki's neck. If Yuki was going to leave, it had to be now while Kaname was passed out and everyone was busy at the ball. They might never get this chance again.

Zero looked at Yuki, and then at the back door behind them. He enterlaced his hand with hers. "Yuki, we need to hurry," He said.

Yuki knew that it was now or never. If she wanted to leave with Zero, she'd need to go now while Kaname was passed out. Would she leave Kaname and her Pureblood life behind to go with Zero, or would she stay with Kaname, her fiance and future husband? She didn't know what life would be like if she went with Zero, but she did know that she loved him and that he would protect her.

Zero held out his hand, his eyes darted to the door as the footsteps started to get louder.

"Yuki?" Zero looked into Yuki's eyes, waiting for her to choose. Deep down, he was afraid that she would choose Kaname. It would break his heart if she did, and he didn't know what would become of him if that happened.

Yuki bit her lip. Would she find the courage to leave Kaname? Zero's hand was in front of her, just waiting for her to grab on.

Footsteps got louder from behind them. Her heart started to pound in her chest, while an image of Kaname surfaced her mind.

Yuki had to make a decision, and fast.
