The Pulse

"Usagi-san even if I die I will not wear that!" Misaki was trying to break free from now his seven year old husband. "But I specially made this costume for us Misaki" Akihiko pouted. "Where did you get my vital stats?" Misaki tried to push Akihiko again. "I hover over this body everyday love. But, Aikawa was stand in for you" Akihiko was smirking. "Arghhhh... why is she not quitting with BL novels! Why are we going to wear bear suit in Halloween? We both will become Suzuki-san huh?" Misaki was being satirical. "Well the name Suzuki-san was chosen by you my Love" Akihiko bit Misaki's earlobe. "Huh! Did you not say you wanted normal family and decided to use the most common name in the country? Unfortunately Suzuki is the third most used name" Misaki huffed. "True enough, but you never asked how the name slipped in my head in first place" Akihiko narrowed his lavender eyes. "I have no interest to figure it out. I will kill you and Aikawa-san one day Usagi-san" Misaki finally freed himself and shoved his husband off.

THIRTY YEARS AGO

"Accept it" Sakura Kamijou the lady of Kamijou house was bickering behind her only son. "I won't simply say yes to your weird imagination. You are growing old, just criticise people that's what you do best Mum" youngest Kamijou snapped. "Why is it so hard to be open to your own Mama Hiro-chan?" Sakura Kamijou was walking behind her son who was trying to walk as fast as possible. "Because you are you. Even if I ask you for help you will go and tell dad. Then when you guys hold those big parties you both will brag" Hiroki huffed. "Well this is something we will brag only after you turn legal boy" Sakura Kamijou giggled. "See you are cooking something in that overactive brain" Hiroki snapped. "What's going on dear?" Haruki Kamijou walked out of his study. "Oh Haruki our son is..." Sakura Kamijou was far away from her husband in one swift pull.

"Mum..you.. will not... tell dad about.. it" Hiroki was running out of breath. "But it's a good news that you are growing up" Sakura Kamijou grinned. "No it's not" Hiroki grumbled. "I can't believe you are my son, such a rigid soul" Sakura Kamijou pouted. "I can't believe you are my Mum" Hiroki retorted back. "What was that brat? You can't believe I am your mama? Where do you think you got your zeal for books from?" Sakura Kamijou was pulling Hiroki's ears. "Ouch Mum it hurts" Hiroki pouted. "Good, you are way too prickly, just like your dead grandfather" Sakura pouted. "Stop cursing your dead father Mum" Hiroki consoled

"Hiro-chan, I saw you both kiss the other day. You are just twelve, I think it's too early to experiment with physical aspect of love" Sakura Kamijou sat on her son's mattress and asked him to have a seat. "I can explain everything" Hiroki said. "I know you well, you can't lie. So spit it out and trust me Dad won't find out" Sakura pulled her son closer. "Akihiko and I have kissed more than once" Hiroki said with his head down. "Keep talking" Sakura Kamijou was great listener. "The first time he kissed was when we had only known each other for a month. He did it to stop me from crying, he said he was taught that by some boy in England" Hiroki shrunk more into his mother's warmth. "After that he had kissed me few times in our sleepovers. Once last year during our camping trip, that time I asked him to kiss me second time" Hiroki felt guilty. "Why did my son ask that?" Sakura Kamijou asked. "Other times it felt like it was his whimsical tendencies and I would beat him up. But that day his kiss felt he happy" Hiroki was honest Sakura Kamijou realised it.

"Hiro-chan, Aki-chan is a good boy, I remember telling you to look after him. Aki-chan is too good; I believe you, that he had taken the initiative to kiss you. You are too young to play around, wait two or three years you will figure out the things. I have my doubts, that Aki-chan is incapable of loving back. He will care for you, worry for you, but he might never love you back" Sakura Kamijou patted her son's head. "I don't understand this entire thing Mum" Hiroki confessed. "Time will teach, but my little boy has kissed so many times I am surprised" Sakura laughed. "Will you love me if I love a boy?" Hiroki Kamijou asked. "Why will I not love you? Yeah things would be tougher for us and you if we don't follow tradition. But you are my son, it's my soul that you carry, how will I stop loving you? But try not to kiss now" Sakura Kamijou pulled Hiroki and started showering him with kisses.

"Mum, I have a request, I happen to have many unused notebooks and dual copies of some books. Will you put them to some good cause?" Hiroki asked breaking from the attack of kisses. "Remember you helped police take back a little boy to his home two years back?" Sakura asked. "Did I?" Hiroki looked confused. "Yes you did, that kid belonged to an orphanage, may I send them there?" Sakura Kamijou asked. "Please, if that boy can use them why not? Then please give them my old clothes too" Hiroki hugged his mother.

"Master Hiroki" Akita the family help knocked the door. "What is it Akita-sama?" Sakura Kamijou asked. "Mistress, master Akihiko has come to have a sleepover with Takana-kun" Akita informed. "Hiroki will you be fine with him?" Sakura Kamijou grinned and Hiroki tried to hide his embarrassing blush. "My my, you are blushing. Should I name him as my son-in-law already?" Sakura laughed. "Mum please, you will have a dark haired son-in-law, not a prince like Akihiko" Hiroki snapped "Like those Knights from the film we saw? Sakura Kamijou asked back. "Yes the tall one that had blue eyes" Hiroki smiled. "Caught you" Sakura Kamijou grinned and left the room to bring Akihiko in.

"Hiroki why am I with you here?" Akihiko asked in his expression less voice. "If you want to avoid your family and spend time with me you have to do it" Hiroki was pulling Akihiko by hand. "I could just sleep under the futon" Akihiko said. "Yes why not? You have not written any new story for last five weeks. Every time something happens in your god knows what kind of family, you go all gloomy. After that you don't write and laze around in my room and reread books you have read countless times" Hiroki huffed. "But I like spending time with you Hiroki" Akihiko whined. "Not falling for these puppy eyes. We will enjoy this program trust me. Its summer break and you will learn some life saving things" Hiroki grinned. "Like what? Planting marigold trees will save my life?" Akihiko smiled.

Hiroki suddenly stopped and jerked off Akihiko's hand "Damn it Akihiko, I am trying here to make you happy and divert your mind from sad things you are making fun of me. Let's go back if you don't want too. Why should I learn the things I already know and waste my precious vacation for a rotten beak like you?" "Hiroki, calm down, I am sorry I was being selfish. Thank you for thinking about me" Akihiko bowed. "Stop it Bakahiko" Hiroki slammed the silver head.

Hiroki had enrolled both of them to summer workshop to keep Akihiko busy. Though he knew all this things he felt it was the best way to engage the wandering mind of Akihiko. While Hiroki was busy learning various techniques of gardening Akihiko was already travelling in his own thought process and the incident three days before.

"Stop throwing daggers at your older brother" Usami Akemi told Akihiko who was glaring at Usami Haruhiko. "I am sorry mother" Akihiko murmured. "I will leave you both to dinner, goodnight Akemi-sama, goodnight Akihiko" the bespectacled boy stood up and left the silverheads. "Care to explain why are you giving violent vibes to him?" Akemi asked. "He is evil" Akihiko spoke again without expression. "What makes you say that?" Akemi frowned at such allegations against her step son.

"He keeps taking away my things and never returns them to me" Akihiko glared his blank lavender eyes to his mother. "Akihiko, let him take them, if it makes him happy let him" Akemi had no love for Haruhiko, but she had no hatred for him either. "Why should I? Those are my things!" Akihiko was in defiant mode. "Akihiko, no matter what he is your brother" Akemi sighed. "Half brother" Akihiko said in deadpan voice. "Akihiko for my sake listen to me carefully! Things don't matter in life. Things exist to make our life easier not complicated. If the things you like create problem let them go. Let Haruhiko take them, they are just things! Only bloody things!" Akemi ran her hand through her silver hair.

"Relations matter, the things that hurt most in life is relations okay. Its better you stop caring about things you owe. Better be emotionless than being hurt, when trust breaks things don't give peace. I shouldn't have come back to Japan! At least not with you" Usami Akemi was on verge of tears. "Mother" Akihiko patted her other hand. "Listen to me, live your own life; I don't care about Usami name! I don't care about this fucking company! When you grow up live the life you want. Stop thriving for things, don't let people decide your life" Akemi was furious suddenly.

"Why are you so angry mother?" Akihiko asked. "I am not angry, just too tired. I am waiting for the old geezer to just drop dead" Akemi gave a fake smile. "You want grandfather to die?" Akihiko gave no expressions. "Not in that way, I just want this man to transfer everything to my name as fast as possible. So that we both can leave this country and fly back" Akemi laughed.

"Are you done teaching my grandson all the wrong things?" eldest Usami, Akihiko's maternal grandfather walked in. "Shut up old geezer, you have never done a single thing worth claiming as fatherly. I am so glad, mother left early" Akemi snapped. "Disgraceful child, why didn't I have a son who would produce me the good bloodline" the tall wrinkled man huffed while Akihiko looked on. "You married as Usami into this family do not forget that. You carry the blood of commoners like my grandfather. It's a matriarchal household, even if my sons marry the heir will be their daughters not them. So before you die just hand over the company to me" Akemi stood up.

"Don't be as arrogant as this girl Aki-kun. Grow up and take over the company with your elder brother. Both of you marry and give birth to beautiful healthy great-grandchildren" the older Usami sat near Akihiko and patted his silver hair. "Sorry grandfather, I don't like girls. I like boys" Akihiko spoke in a deadpan voice. "What no? It's wrong and against natural order! You will marry a beautiful girl if possible your cousin sister with jet black hair, that little girl is adorable" the older man tried to turn talks. "Mother said me to live my life my way. I am not obliged to reciprocate your wishes. Goodnight grandfather. Goodnight mother" Akihiko stoop up and bowed to both.

"What have you been teaching him? Dislikes girls? How will we have heir to this family and future heir to the company?" "I think we have plenty of time. Akihiko is just a child now Usami-sama" Akihiko's father walked in. "Yes of course. But that boy has distant look like this ungrateful daughter of mine" the older pointed her. "Oh shut up you should be grateful I still call you my father" Akemi yawned. "Akemi please be polite to your father" her husband requested. "Do you want to lose my love Akemi" older Usami roared. "Fuyuhiko you are the last person I want to learn from. Why did I marry you? Keep playing his dog he will name forty percent shares in your name and old man I never loved you" Akemi laughed.

"Talk properly to your husband Akemi" older Usami yelled. "The guy who marries me just for wealth and title is not my husband. The guy who has an affair with another woman is not my husband" Akemi yelled back. "You also bought lovers to this house time to time ever since you came back from England" older Usami shouted. "I will bring as many lovers I want and I will do it opposite to your room" Akemi smiled in total rage. "It's time both of you think about a second child, if possible a daughter" older Usami suddenly said. "Forget about it! I pray both my sons Akihiko and Haruhiko are gay. I pray this bloodline ends in their grave. You all are rotten, sick, bastards who only care for name and honour over life. I would be so happy when both of them refuse to follow your paths" Akemi walked away from the hall.

While his mother, father and grandfather fought, Akihiko was standing nearby and heard his mother pretty well. Haruhiko was also standing somewhere in the dark as he was terrified suddenly. Their young hearts were beating and they could feel each pulse in their fingers. Haruhiko in his fear of being abandoned was afraid to think against anything. Akihiko simply wanted live life his way. Both boys decided two different paths hearing the same conversation that day. One chose to defy everything and other comply with others wishes.

Usami Akihiko had come to his morning workshop class earlier than appointed time. He was tired of craft work and gardening here. He loved writing and rest seemed useless. But this workshop proved best to avoid his older brother and constantly quarrelling parents and grandfather. To Akihiko's dismay his best friend was late. "Hiroki must be busy with his Kendo Class again and I am early" Akihiko sighed.

Little Usami Akihiko decided to explore the huge garden and other white cottages in the area. Ever since he joined the workshop he wanted to peep into those cottages. Alas Hiroki was a boy of strict code so he was pulled back from his impulses. Without his knowledge Akihiko had started to care about Hiroki. Right now he was missing him. So tracing his legs in the grass the silverhead went to the nearest cottage.

One peek through the huge window surprised Akihiko. This cottage had no benches or desk. It was painted in the brightest colours and decorated in mat only. On that covered floor were tiny human beings giggling, some drooling and some walking with new skills. There was no teacher at the time to look after them. Akihiko had never seen so many children active at same time. He was happy Hiroki was not with him as Hiroki was scared of children and children were scared of him.

At closer inspection Akihiko realised these were pre-schoolers. They hardly spoke more than three words and were still victims of basic instinct. It was really hard to differentiate which were girls' fom boys. All of them had huge eyes looking at things with wonder. Some playing with alphabet dices, some throwing away the number boxes. Overall they were yet to enter the civilised world.

Curiosity got better hold of Akihiko and the silverhead took few steps towards the entrance. Akihiko stood there behind the door. With closer inspection Akihiko saw there were many who were also curled into sleep. In one such corner a small body was sleeping with bear hooded jacket type t-shirt on. The child's face was half hidden and few coffee colour locks were peeking out from under the hood and his mouth was partially open. To Akihiko it was the cutest bear ever. Bear had a sudden charm to the silverhead and without a thought he pulled of his shoes and entered the room. Next moment the tall boy was running his hand on the back of the sleeping boy in bear jacket.

"Hey there little bear having a nice nap?" Akihiko smiled. "Were you also dragged to this workshop by your best friend? I was dragged by my best friend, he is scary one you know. He also has brown hair like you, but you are a shade deeper my little bear" Akihiko was awestruck at the tiny smile slowly growing on the little face. Akihiko sat on the floor properly and started to caresses the cuddled body. The little bear boy moved closer to Akihiko and was trying to hold the young boy. "You like me? You are actually cuddling my leg. You are cute" Akihiko stretched his legs and the child held his thigh properly like a pillow.

"You there you are old for a pre-schooler" a young girl in her twenties walked in. "You are also too old for a pre-schooler" Akihiko retorted back. "True, I am the teacher so care to explain why you are here lad?" The girl walked towards Akihiko. "I just saw the kid with bear hood and it was cute" Akihiko smiled as he slowly unwrapped the arm around his thigh. "Yeah Suzuki-san is cute" the girl laughed. "Suzuki-san?" Akihiko looked with a raised eyebrow. "Little darling here beside you has changed their name to Suzuki-san. Apparently the bear dress needed the name so Suzuki-san" the girl laughed more openly. "Little Suzuki-san it was nice watching you sleep. I need to go back to my workshop" Akihiko grinned and patted the bear head. The child on impulse opened the eyes and flashed ingrained innocence to Akihiko. "Silver, Suzuki-san love" the child smiled as he uttered the words.

"I love Suzuki-san too" Akihiko laughed and started walking out of the room. The teacher waved him bye and turned around to find the little bear boy walking towards the door. "Misaki, you can't go. Come to sensei" the teacher ran towards Misaki and took him in arms. "Silver, Susuzki-san want silver" Misaki tried to break free from the teachers arm. "Ssshh... Misaki...chan calm down" Misaki was already dropping warm drops on his teacher's shoulder. "You like that boy so much huh? Don't cry you will meet him again" the teacher patted the pouting child who was staring at the door. But Hiroki had fallen sick suddenly and Akihiko never bothered to return to the workshop. Hiroki stopped protesting as his best friend was writing more interesting stories every passing day.

Same time in Kusama Orphanage

"Wow there are so many books!" a eight year old boy with jet black hair and blue eyes was flipping through pages. "You like them?" one of the caretakers asked the boy. "Yes, but where did you find so many books?" "A family from uptown donated them. The lady of the house said her son had a tendency to buy two copies of books. Now his library was overflowing and he decided to give them to us. Nowaki-chan he also gave his old clothes, toys and notebooks. Since you are tallest its best you use the bigger ones right" the caretaker patted young Nowaki's face. "Aye" Nowaki grinned. "You seem to like this book huh?" the caretaker saw the book in his hand. "Yes its the story of a knight and the knight has blue eyes and black hair like me" Nowaki was excited. "I see, if I am not wrong a film was made of this story. May be one day we can watch it" the older man smiled. "Really?" "Yeah, Nowaki-chan you can keep this book so that one day like the Knight here, you can live your life freely and full of love" the older man left a blushing Nowaki.
