Well took me long enough and I hope you like this chapter. You can thank the one who Eve style reviewed the story and kinda freaked me out a little in doing so.

Zane POV

I turn and see the smoke. I search the roof tops and see a figure. Then for look for a way to get the others to safety. A small ally is the only escape. I motion them to it and they go. I stay back and look at the figure through my scope. It looks feminine but I'm knocked out of my train of thought by a scream.

I turn and see Garth, Lilly, Kate, and Humphrey running back out of the ally. "Where are the others?" I ask. "The crawlers got them." Garth says.

"Dammit!" I shout. Then I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn ready to shoot, but see it's not a crawler. It's the wolf from the roof and she's beautiful. "Who are you?" I ask.

"No time, we gotta get outta here!" She says ushering us to follow. Even though I hate following, it's the only way we will survive this. We run through the streets shooting crawlers. Then she turns into a building. We go after her and she closes the door and locks it with boards, bolts, and a metal sheet.

She looks at us. "How did you five end up here?" She asks. I look at the others and they look at me. "Gah, why do I always have to tell people?" I ask. "Because Zane, you are our leader." Kate says.

"I don't remember signing up for that job." I say "Well, it just kinda happened, now tell her." Garth says. "Fine." Then I tell her from when we met, to when she saved us.

"Well, you guys have been through a lot, and you just lost five friends just now. Your lives suck." She says. "Ya think. I'm is the worst though, I've lost my mate, and now my girlfriend. But now, time for your name." I say. "It's Zara." She says.

"Awesome, I've never met anyone else with a Z and the first letter of their name." I say. "Same here, well until now that is." She says. "So would you like to join us?" Garth asks. "Um, let me think about it, but I need to talk to Zane on the roof." She says. I nod and follow her.

We get there and she turns to me. "So, you became leader, just randomly over time, and you've lost the most. You don't sound like the best leader." She says. "I'm not, but I take charge and try to get them to safety while not caring about my own safety." I say.

"Still not a great leader." She says. "Plus I'm the only one immune to the bastards." I say. "Really? You're immune?" She asks. I nod and roll up my shirt sleeves. "It happened helping my brother who betrayed me. My legs are worse, and the scar on my face is from a nasty one that got into a safe hold while I was healing." I say.

"You are still an idiot." She says. "Ya I know." I say back. "So, where were you planning on taking everyone?" She asks. I look at her for a moment. "I don't really know, but I do know if not for you I would have lost them all." I say.

"It gets lonely, you are lucky you have them, I lost everyone because they refused to take orders from a girl, even if I was in the army." She says. "Well I was a Captain in the Marines, I'm not initially from Canada. I guess my take charge is from that, but I lost many men, in war, now it's this. What we are going through now is worse than any battle I was ever in." I say.

"I figured from your reluctance to follow me when I first showed up." She says. "Well, I don't like to follow anyone so." I say. "Lets head back down, I bet you guys are hungry." She says.

"I don't know about the others, but I'm starving." I say. Then she heads down and I follow close behind. We get down there and they all ask the same things. "Do you have food, and did you kiss her?" They ask.

"Well to the first question, yes I have food." She says. "And to the second question, no we didn't kiss." I say. Then Zara goes to the back and gets food.

Garth POV

I watch Zara go to the back then look at Zane. "You like her." I say. "No, I do not." He says. "We all know you are lying." Humphrey says. "Just shut up before I hurt you coyote." He says. "Ah, you do like her." Kate says.

"Well, I got everyone's input on this, but Lilly. So what do you think Lilly?" He asks agitated. "Nope, how feel is your business." She says. "Well at least one of you isn't nosy." e say "Just curious though, do you like her?" She asks. "Well, kinda I guess." He says.

Then Zara walks out with food. "Dig in." She says. Just as we were gonna rush for the food Zane stopped us . "Manners, we are not gonna die if you wait a little longer." He says.

So we all get our food and sit down. In minutes we all finished and had seconds. Soon Zara showed everyone a room, and we all went to bed other than Zane.

Zane POV

I watched them all go to bed, but I went to the roof and looked at the city around me. Even if we do fix this, things will never be normal. I lost my love, and my girlfriend. I'll never be normal, I've changed to much.

Then I hear a gun shot across the city. I see a group of people run through the streets but get taken out by the crawlers. I feel bad, but I couldn't do anything to help. Then I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn to see Zara.

"You like the quiet of the night don't you?" She asks me. I nod staying quiet and watching the trouble of the nightmare that came on us that seems to just get worse. She sits next to me, and we watch for a long time.

I feel her rest her head on my shoulder and hear her breathing soften. She fell asleep. I gently pick her up and take her down stairs to her room. I lay her in her bed then cover her up. I go back upstairs to the roof with a blanket and pillow.

I settle in on the roof with my rifle at my side, and fall asleep.

A/N: Well that is what I got with this. Hope you liked it, not promises the next chapter will be soon, cause I still have my main story I'm working on and as far as I've been going with that one, I don't know if I'll ever end it. It's going slow, kinda. Anyways hope you liked the chapter.
