Part 7: "The Angels Take Manhattan!"

New York City, New York: Modern Day.

"You know what I like about this?" Ranma said, as he relaxes on rock in the heart of Central Park, with the Doctor, Amy and Rory.

"What's that?" Amy asked, while she was reading the local newspaper.

"I get to do my favorite activity: bird watching."

"Oh, I didn't know you were into birding, Ranma," Rory said.

"I believe our friend is referring to the other kind," the Doctor said.

"What?" Amy said, as he sees Ranma observing the movement young women, sexy mothers and even sexy grandmothers walking by.

"Ranma!"

"What?" Ranma protested, as he sits up. "What's your problem now?"

"You are a married man, you know," Amy said.

"Many times over, in fact," the Doctor said.

"Unbelievable…"

"Hey, I'm seeing anyone new, and I take care of the needs of the women that I am married to right now," Ranma said.

"Oh, just how sexist of you to say that," Amy said. "What? You just sex them up, and leave?"

"No, I spend time with my wives," Ranma said. "I take care of their needs, and, I take care of my kids, any time that is required of me…"

Pause.

"And then, I 'sex them up', at HER leisure," Ranma said with a grin.

"Unbelievable," Amy replied. She then turned towards Rory.

"And better not getting any ideas, Rory," Amy said.

"What?" Rory said in protest. "What did I do?"

"Oh, don't be too harsh on Ranma, Amy," the Doctor said, as he puts down his "Melanie Malone Detective Series" book. "Ranma had been condition to be the stud that he is today, thanks to his Mother and his Aunt."

"See?" Ranma said. "Not my fault."

"Yeah, a likely excuse," Amy said sarcastically. "And where the hell is 'Gino', anyway? She was supposed to meet us here for a picnic."

"Did someone call for me?" said a voice from above.

All eyes look up to see Sailor Cosmos floating down from the skies, like an angel.

"You know, I really wanted this to be incognito," the Doctor said.

"No one will remember any of this, after I de-transform," Sailor Cosmos replied. "Cosmic Transformation…Reverse!"

FLASH!

"Ah!" Amy said, as she was nearly blinded by the sudden flash of light that was the Moon Princess' transformation.

"There," Usagi said, as she checked herself out. "Nothing out of the ordinary…"

"Yes, nothing," Rory said.

"Sorry I'm late, Doctor," Usagi said, as she sits next to her husband Ranma. "What did I miss?"

"Oh, just Ranma's cheating on you with his eyes," Amy said with a snark.

"Way to throw me under the bus, AMELIA," Ranma said.

"That's okay," Usagi said nonchalantly.

"It is?" Amy asked.

"Sure. I got a date with Tony this evening."

"WHAT?" Ranma yelled, as he leans back.

"Who's 'Tony'?" Rory asked.

"Ah, Anthony Stark," the Doctor chuckled.

"You mean…'Iron Man'?" said Amy, which received a look of disbelief from Rory. "What? He is a genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist, you know."

"And quite good at what he does, admittedly," the Doctor said.

"Well, Tony is the LAST person I want Usagi to go on a date with," Ranma said.

"What did he do?" Amy asked.

"He managed to kick me off planet Earth, that's what!"

"Wow," Amy said. "That is…understandable…"

"Ranma, I'm kidding," Usagi said with a grin, as she held Ranma's hand. "I just wanted to make you jealous."

"Well, good job," Ranma said. "You succeeded."

"Tee-hee…"

"Well, I'm done," Rory said, as he gets up.

"Where you going?" the Doctor said.

"I'm getting some coffee, black."

"Just like my men?" Usagi said with a grin. "What? I don't discriminate, and I have been married into the royalty of every nation on Earth. Same with Ranma."

"Because you and he are billions of years old?" Amy said sarcastically.

"More like thousands," Ranma said. "But our time-traveling 'mileage' is just about right."

"Do tell…"

However, when Rory failed to return to the picnic with his coffee, and when Amy discovered something was amiss, when the book that the Doctor was reading mentioned Rory by name, everyone knew that something was wrong…

"Weeping Angels," Ranma said simply, after retracing Rory's steps, near the location at his last sighting. He then looked around the area.

"We better stay out in the open," Ranma said, as he escorted everyone out.

"If there is a Weeping Angel nearby, why choose Rory as the target?" Amy asked with worry.

"It could be a random encounter," the Doctor said, as he looked at the inside of the book he had been reading.

Just then, Usagi gets off the phone with her contact in SHIELD, vis-à-vis TIME, the SHIELD-equivalent that monitors temporal-based threats.

"Okay, I let Fury know what was going on," Usagi said. "In fact, they were going to contact you about it, Ranma."

"Why?"

"Well, considering the fact that we're spending the day with the Doctor and all…"

"I thought I erased all traces of my history," the Doctor said.

"Yeah, well, only a few people know what you did," Ranma said.

"Do you trust these people?"

"I trust them with my life, Doc," Ranma said. "Besides, they know how upset I'd be if, well, certain information falls into the wrong hands."

"Ah, well, then, we're off to retrieve Rory," the Doctor said, as he turns to return to the TARDIS.

"Doctor, we will have to use magic to do so," Usagi said.

"Why would I trust in such superstition?" the Doctor asked incredulously.

"Right now, according to SHIELD, there is a massive build up of chronometric energy, so much so that the TARDIS will be slamming against a wall of energy."

"I get it now," the Doctor replied. "Since magic does not conform to the laws of science, we can slip into the past without fail…"

Pause.

"I just hope Rani or the Master never hears of this…nonsense," the Doctor said, as he made a slight face. "Otherwise, I would have to return my degree to the University of Gallifrey…"

"How are we going to use 'magic' in order to save Rory?" Amy asked.

"We can use the Rock of Eternity, since it 'sits' at the center of Time and Space," Usagi said.

"As long we do not end up lost in the world of pixie dust and the like, we shall use THAT means of travel," the Doctor said. "Brrrrr-!"

Upon reaching their destination, New York City, circa 1938, Amy Pond learns two things about her 'Gino'. One, Usagi had been brainwashed into becoming a Nazi scientist, aka "Serena Von Mondkinder", aka "The Butcheress", in the service of the Counter-Ghost Group, the military arm of the Thule Society. Took the efforts of Ranma (codename "Commando") and a half-vampire named Rayne Sinclare (codename: "Boodrayne") to free Usagi from her brainwashing. Needless to say, Usagi was ashamed of her actions, even though it was proven that she had been brainwashed, thanks to the Nazis having possession of the Spear of Destiny, which enabled all supernatural-leaning individuals, including magical girls, to be under the thrall of its possessor. And, two, Usagi was married to a certain Man of Steel, who was on hand to help the Doctor deal with the infestation of Weeping Angels…

CRASH!

"That's two of them," Superman said, as he smacked his hands together. "It's a good thing that Saotome called me here at the 'Winter Quay Hotel'…"

Upon their arrival to the Winter Quay, everyone learned that the hotel was a battery of temporal energy. In fact, any time a victim of the angels are sent back in time, temporal energy is siphoned and fed to "baby" Weeping Angels, thus providing a breeding ground for this deadly species…

Thankfully, Clark Kent, investigating the hotel for its weirdness, was on hand to lend a hand as…Superman.

"Just be careful," the Doctor said. "You may be faster than a speeding bullet, but this species of killers are faster."

"Understood-"

"Doctor, we have a problem," said River Song, as she monitored the area for Weeping Angels. She had been traveling to different points in time, trying to discover why data about her husband was coming up missing.

Meanwhile, Ranma was still disturbed by the idea that a part of him, now a part of River, was in love with the Doctor.

"There is massive movement happening outside," said River.

"Just how massive?" the Doctor said.

Up on the roof…

"Wow," Ranma said, as he, Usagi, Amy and Rory was facing down the Statue of Liberty, which was now a Weeping Angel.

"King Kong got nothing on THIS…"

"What are we going to do?" Amy said. "They are after Rory."

"But, if I kill myself, then a paradox will form," Rory said. "It will end the threat."

"You can't die, Rory. I won't let you!"

"Ranma, what should we do?" Usagi said. "Do we fight or run?"

Ranma thinks hard for a moment…

"Rory, do you trust me with your life?" Ranma asked.

"I do," Rory replied. "What should we do?"

"We do…this," Ranma said simply, as he suddenly applied a series of pokes around Rory's chest.

THOK!

"Ranma, you didn't," Usagi said.

"What did you do to Rory?" Amy asked.

"Ranma used the 'Five-Point Exploding Heart Technique'," the Doctor said simply, as he, River and Superman arrived at the scene.

"Which means…?" Amy asked.

"Father is a dead man."

"You…you killed my husband?" Amy yelled. "How could you-?"

"Amy?" Rory said.

Suddenly, the air around everyone electrifies.

"What is this?" Superman asked.

"A paradox has been created!" River yelled. "But…Rory hasn't died!"

"He will, if he takes five steps," Usagi said. "Even if Rory is taken by a Weeping Angel now, the paradox will consume everything, including the Weeping Angels."

"Exactly," Ranma said with a smile. "Schrödinger's Cat, anyone?"

With that, everything is consumed in a state of white noise…

"Where are we?" Rory said, as he suddenly sits up, in the middle of a New York City grave yard. He then feels pressure from his chest.

"Ow!"

"Ranma!" Usagi yelled.

"Right," Ranma said, as he used additional pressure points to relieve the pressure on Rory's heart.

THOK!

"Thanks…I guess," Rory said.

"Rory," Amy said, as she hugged Rory.

"Well, isn't this nice," River said, as she looked around. "I'm stuck in modern day New York."

"Well, we could continue our fabulous weekend," the Doctor said.

"Okay, then, you're buying…"

As everyone prepares to board the TARDIS, Rory spies on a headstone, and frowns.

"Hey, wait a minute," Rory said. "Why is my name on here-"

FWOOSH!

BLAM!

"Is everyone okay?" said a familiar voice.

"Superman?" the Doctor said, as he sees the Man of Steel, now wearing his modern costume.

"Doctor," Superman replied. "I got here as quickly as possible, in order to prevent Mr. Williams from being attacked by a Weeping Angel…"

Superman then pulls out what appeared to be a large flashlight. He then shines it on the now-prone Weeping Angel, which caused it to disappear…

"What happened to it?" Rory asked.

"Ah, the Phantom Zone Projector," the Doctor said. "Now in a handy size."

"Yes," Superman said, as he hands the projector to the Doctor. "This model is specifically tailored to Weeping Angels."

"How did you know we would be here, Kal?" Usagi asked, not wanting to let anyone know, who does not already know, that she and Superman were very familiar with each other…

"Rory Williams," Superman said, as he points to the grave marker that had Rory's name. "When he showed up in the past, he told me what was going to happen. So, we worked on make sure that the Rory of the future, his past, would not make the trip."

"You mean to tell me…I'm in there?" Rory said in astonishment.

"Yes, I'm afraid," Superman said. "Well, another Rory Williams, at any rate."

"What about the paradox?" the Doctor asked.

"Um, that would be me," Ranma said. "A while back, I kind of, well, defeated the entity known as 'Wrinkle', which made creating stable paradoxes possible."

"Which, unfortunately, created the anomalies that would have been done away with, by the laws of Time," the Doctor said.

"That's a good thing, right?" Usagi said. "We saved one Rory at the cost of another Rory. We created a new timeline."

"Yes, but, it's still a man's life that was lost," the Doctor said with a sigh. He then looked at Amy, his Amelia, and wondered if it was best to give himself and his favorite people some space for a bit. After all, he would rather be alone, knowing that those he cares about were safe.

Besides, he can always pay the Ponds a visit now and again…

"Doctor, are you alright?" Amy asked.

"My Amelia Pond," the Doctor said, as he pulled her in close. "I am quite alright…"

The Doctor then places a hand on Rory's shoulder.

"And we certainly have to get our new baby's room ready," the Doctor said.

"Hey, I know some antiques that could fit well into my little brother's room," River said.

"Um, what?" Amy and Rory replied in unison.

"Oops. Spoilers…"

Usagi and Ranma turned towards Superman.

"Kal, thank you for the timing," Ranma said.

"Yes, thank you, Kal," Usagi said.

"Well, I would move mountains for the two of you," Superman said.

"Um, you have," Ranma said.

"I KNOW…"

Tbc.
