Two Steps Back

Disclaimer: I'm not RIB, so I don't own Glee or any of the characters. If I did, I'd be rich and probably not writing fanfiction! This fic will dive into MPREG, so I'll be using my go-to MPREG explanation like I did in When We're Older aka the Reddin gene. The gene is based on the Reddin character from the 1994 movie Junior. You should really watch it if you like mpreg. It's a good movie, I promise (I also don't have any rights to it either!) I also don't really own anything mentioned in this except for the crazy storyline so... I OWN NOTHING. The title is inspired by a Paula Abdul song called Opposites Attract by the way.

Warning: Mild discussions of abortion in this chapter! Nothing too detailed, but it's implied.

"I have a doctor's appointment this week if you want to come. It's uh- it's going to be the first time I have an ultrasound so if you want to see the baby, you can... umm, come if you'd like?"

Kurt stared down at Blaine, watching as the shorter boy fidgeted on his feet. They were standing outside of the garage, Rachel waiting in her car as her brother said goodbye to his unborn child's father. Burt and Finn were inside the building, one of them clueless as to what was going on while the other stood knowingly by the door, watching as their child grew up faster than they ever imagined.

"What about your parents?" Kurt asked, one of his hands rubbing up and down the length of Blaine's jacketed arm. "Aren't they going to go with you?"

"They both have to work that day. Dad just started his new job so he really can't take a lot of time off and Daddy has a meeting, so he can't go either. I, uh- I haven't told Rachel yet. I don't know if I want her to go actually. Not to the first one. I mean, if you can't go, then she can come, but-"

"Blaine?" The hand stroking the younger boy's arm froze, squeezing Blaine's bicep gently. Kurt smirked down at his friend, trying not to laugh at Blaine's incessant rambling. The other boy was endearing, to say the least. "I'll go."

"You will?"

"Umm, yeah? It's my kid too. I wanna see it."

A blush spread across Blaine's face and he ducked his head, looking down at his sneakered feet, "Okay. Okay, great."

::::::::::

The day of the appointment came faster than Kurt expected and soon he found himself sitting outside of Blaine's house, fingers tapping out a rhythm on the steering wheel as he waited for his friend to come out so they could go. It took Blaine a few minutes to finally step out, but when he did, he looked like he'd rather do anything than go to the doctor.

"You okay?" Kurt asked, climbing out of the driver's seat to help Blaine to the car. The other teen was dragging himself along, slow and steady, as if moving any faster would be incredibly painful; the sight made Kurt's heart race a little. He didn't realize that Blaine had it that bad. "Is it the morning sickness? Do you need me to get you anything?"

"Have you smoked today?" Blaine croaked. His question was choked, quiet, and his voice sounded so weak to Kurt's ears that it made more worry settle in the bottom of his stomach.

"I... had a cigarette before I came to get you."

His answer obviously disgusted Blaine because his friend immediately spun around and went right back towards the house, stumbling a bit due to the speed of his turn. Kurt frowned, rushing forward to fall into step beside Blaine and when the other boy noticed Kurt beside him, he scowled. "You know what smoke does to me! Couldn't you have waited to smoke until after we were done today? I already feel like crap and now you want me to ride in a car with you while you reek of tar and nicotine?! I can't do that, Kurt!" He stopped at the bottom of the steps and sat down, dropping his head to his knees. "I feel so gross today."

"I'm sorry. I wasn't even thinking, to be honest. I forgot."

"Well, you can't! I already feel disgusting and I've thrown up so many times this morning, I lost count and-" He paused to clear his throat; it was then that Kurt noticed exactly how hoarse Blaine's voice was. "I'm just so tired. I didn't think pregnancy would be this hard."

Kurt took a seat next to him and reached out, placing one of his hands on top of Blaine's, lacing their fingers together before he offered his friend a reassuring squeeze. "Maybe you can get your doctor to give you something for the puking? Or, like, something for the nausea? It shouldn't be this bad."

"I don't know."

"What do you mean?"

"Like, what if this isn't even worth it? What if I'm getting sick for nothing? I don't even know if I want to keep this baby, but I don't think I could just give it away, you know? Like, if I carry it full term, I'd want to keep it... but I'm not even sure if I want to do that."

"Then why are we even sitting here right now? If you don't want it, I can drive you to a clinic and you can get rid of it. Simple as that. We don't even need to be having this-"

"No!" Blaine's head shot up, eyes wide. He stared at Kurt for a second before he shook his head and looked back out at the driveway, watching as the leaves of one of the neighborhood trees blew in the warm summer breeze. A child's laughter trickled through the wind and Blaine brought his free hand to his stomach, cupping the barely there swell with his fingers. "I can't... I don't think I could just get rid of it. I just- I'm scared, Kurt. What am I going to do?"

Kurt chewed on his lip, his teeth clanging against the ring there as he let himself get lost in his thoughts. "I can't make this decision for you, Abs. If it were me, I'd get rid of it, but that's because I'd be the one carrying it and I don't think I could do it. Honestly though, I wouldn't mind being a dad. I guess I planned on having kids later on in the future - god, much later on, but if it happens, it happens, you know? If you want to keep it, I won't stop you... but I won't make you have it if you don't want to. It's not my body to control."

Tears welled up in Blaine's eyes and he squeezed Kurt's hand tighter, leaning over so that his head fell onto Kurt's shoulder. The stale smell of cigarette smoke filled his nose and he gulped, praying that his stomach would just cooperate with him for a little bit so he could get through the rest of the day without puking his guts out. Thankfully, all it did when Blaine leaned against Kurt was growl a bit, but that was all. Small blessings, Blaine thought.

"Do you want to go to the doctor or do you just want to forget it?" Kurt asked quietly. He stared down at Blaine with a concerned look as if he was scared of what Blaine's answer would be.

However, Blaine glanced up at Kurt and nodded his head, "We should just go and get it over with."

"You sure?"

"Yeah. I still want to see it... and maybe I can ask for something that'll fix this constantly being sick 24/7 deal."

"Okay. Well then, come on. Your chariot awaits," Kurt teased, rising from his spot on the steps. He tugged Blaine up from the ground and walked him to the passenger side, helping him in before he ran back over to his side and climbed in. In order to make sure Blaine didn't get sick from the lingering smell of smoke that hung like a fog in his car, he rolled the windows down and let the fresh summer air fill the vehicle. "You good?"

"Yeah," Blaine whispered. His focus was on Kurt, watching as his friend drove them to the clinic, and he couldn't stop the flutter in his heart that came through when he realized how much the other boy was doing for him. Helping him to the car, rolling the windows down to make sure he could breathe... it was a strange, oddly caring side that Blaine never expected to see out of the incredibly pierced, multicolor haired boy, but it happened and it wasn't the first time either (especially when he thought about things Kurt did for him throughout their whole friendship.)

As he observed his friend's driving and racked his thoughts over their friendship, Blaine wondered if perhaps... just maybe Kurt wouldn't be too bad of a father after all.

::::::::::

There were few things that Kurt Hummel hated in the world. Sure, there were people/things he despised, but that was mostly their fault, not his... however, one of the biggest things he hated above all us was being judged by people who didn't know him. His piercings and choice of style didn't define him; it was a part of who he was, yeah sure, but it didn't automatically mean he was a bad person. He didn't go out and do drugs like people immediately assumed he did, nor was he a lazy bum like numerous people told him over the years. Because a person who looks like him obviously doesn't work.

Obviously.

So, sitting in the waiting room of the doctor's office definitely wasn't a pleasant experience for him by any means. There were several other couples there waiting to be seen, all of them much older and heterosexual compared to him and Blaine... and they all looked incredibly vanilla, like they owned the ideal big house with a white picket fence and a dog and-

You're judging them too, Kurt. Stop, his mind scolded, but he couldn't help it. A few of them were looking in his direction with expressions of disgust, glancing between him and Blaine like they were trying to figure out why someone like Blaine would get with someone like him... and it pissed him off. Scowling, he sat back in his chair and kicked his heavy boots out, smirking when the chinging of the many zippers that decorated his shoes caught the attention of a few of the patrons in the room with him.

One woman blatantly stared at him for several long seconds and finally he got annoyed enough to speak up. "Something wrong?" He growled out, sneering in her direction before a hand on his arm caused him to stop.

"Play nice," Blaine said quietly. However, he raised his voice for the next thing he said, "I know they're being rude by staring and judging you before they know you, but you shouldn't stoop to their level." Around them, a few of the other people waiting turned pink with shame and Kurt grinned at the balls his friend had for shooting down everybody's mental opinions of him.

"You're a badass; did you know that, Abs?"

Blaine smiled. "You're not the only one who can get snarky, Hummel." Yawning, he rubbed at his stomach for a minute and stared at the small pudge hidden beneath his t-shirt. "Also, I'm pretty sure I felt the same way you're feeling now at one point in time. You know, like the very first time we met. Remember that?"

A wave of understanding fell over Kurt and he bit his cheek, shaking his head. "Fuck. I didn't even think of that. Look at me being a hypocrite. You got me there."

"That's right. Now maybe you won't pick on preppy kids anymore. Next time you might accidentally offend one of them and end up having another one-night stand."

Kurt paled, staring over at Blaine for a moment. He knew Blaine was kidding around, but neither of them could help the strange feelings that passed over them when Blaine mentioned the whole sleeping around thing. That was the main reason they were there, after all. A drunken hook-up resulted in a baby that neither one of them were quite sure they were ready for; plus there were regrets and non-communicated feelings to account for because of that one blasted night and though neither of them would say it, they both still felt something for the other. Kurt felt terrible for what he did, for walking out on Blaine that night, but he was scared to say anything. There was still so much of him that didn't trust anyone and even though Blaine sort of swooped in and knocked down a bunch of his walls, he just couldn't bring him down like that. Blaine deserved the world and Kurt couldn't give it to him.

He'd already ruined one thing by knocking his friend up. The last thing he needed to do was hurt Blaine any more, so he'd keep his distance. If they decided to keep the baby, he'd be as involved as he needed to be, but he wouldn't be playing family with Blaine, not when Blaine could find someone better, someone who wouldn't hurt him so bad. Sighing, Kurt gnawed on his lip ring again and continued to do so, lost in his mind, until a nurse came out from the back and called out, "Blaine Anderson-Berry?"

Both boys rose and followed the woman down the hall, stopping in a small enclave where a scale and some other machines were hidden. Blaine went to get his height and weight checked and Kurt's stomach flipped nervously when the nurse who weighed Blaine made a remark that he'd lost three pounds. It was strange; wasn't one supposed to gain weight while they're pregnant? How does that even work?

"I lost weight?" Blaine asked, sitting down in a chair while the nurse wrapped a blood pressure cuff around his arm. She clicked on the machine beside him and they waited until it dinged when the test was done before they began speaking again.

"Have you been able to keep down any of your food? Your chart says that you were incredibly ill the first few weeks and you had a hard time keeping food down but that you gained some weight. Has that changed?"

"Not really, other than the weight gain, I guess," Blaine admitted, trailing his fingers over his stomach. "I've been having a hard time keeping liquids down too. I'm just so nauseous all the time anymore and then I just want to sleep all day. I don't have the energy to do anything. It's like I wake up in the morning and get sick. Then I try to eat, get sick some more, take a nap, wake up, get sick again. It's a neverending cycle." As he spoke, the nurse wrote down everything she could. Once she was done, she directed Kurt and Blaine to follow her to an empty exam room, leaving them alone with the promise that the doctor would be in shortly before she left.

Once they were truly alone, Kurt walked over to where Blaine was sitting on the exam table, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy as he pulled him into a hug. "I didn't realize you were that sick. God, why didn't you say anything?"

"It's just morning sickness."

"Sounds to me like you have morning, noon, and night sickness. That doesn't sound normal at all."

Blaine chuckled, "Actually I think our kid's like one of those alien pod people. It's probably trying to eat me from the inside. It'll get big enough and then it'll just eat its way out of the womb."

Kurt raised an eyebrow, a skeptical, dumbfounded look on his face. That was another thing he didn't really understand: Blaine Anderson-Berry's sense of humor. He had only been friends with Blaine for a few months, but throughout the weeks he'd known the other guy, he never really caught on to that special brand of humor that was just Blaine. "You are really, really strange, Abs."

"I can't be that bad. I mean, you slept with me, right?"

Before Kurt could retaliate (or before he could comment on the strange look that passed across Blaine's face when he said it), there was a knock at the door, followed by the introduction of a tall, kind-faced man. The guy looked between the two of them and shot them a gentle smile, stepping aside to allow a nurse to come in after him. "Hello. Blaine Anderson-Berry?" When Blaine smiled, the doctor grinned back and held out his hand, shaking Blaine's before he shook Kurt's. "I'm Dr. Brady. I'll be your obstetrician. I see you were referred here by Dr. Abel? Nice guy. I've known him for years."

"Yeah, he's pretty great," Blaine agreed, his hand once again back to rubbing at his stomach. When his new obstetrician caught the action, he nodded and went back to flipping through Blaine's chart.

"Well, it looks like you've been having some difficulties with this first trimester, am I correct?" Blaine nodded and Dr. Brady walked over to the side of the room to quickly wash his hands before he turned back towards the boys. "Male pregnancies aren't very forgiving when it comes to morning sickness, I'm sorry to report. Due to the lack of proper hormones in the body, a male who becomes pregnant usually suffers from extreme sickness. We try to combat that issue with the hormone shots. The first few batches you'll receive have anti-nausea medication in them, so it'll help a little bit, but if you want, I can prescribe something for you that will help as well."

"Whatever you think will work," Blaine answered, watching a nurse enter the room. The young woman introduced herself and then went to gather the items needed for the check-up; Kurt stared at her for a moment, scowling when he saw her eyes fall onto him several times as if she was shocked to see someone like him standing next to a clean-cut boy like Blaine.

Lip curling, he was two seconds away from snarling at the nurse when Blaine grabbed onto his wrist and squeezed it, shaking his head. "She's not worth it," Blaine murmured under his breath and Kurt inhaled deeply, nodding as he shot a glare to the woman and turned his attention back to Blaine. For the next few minutes, Dr. Brady examined Blaine and then he had the teen lay back on the bed, his shirt rolled up to expose the tiny swell of his stomach. At the sight, Kurt gasped and Blaine rolled his eyes. "I'm already getting fat. It's upsetting."

"Shut up, Abs. You look fine."

Doctor Brady and his nurse stood off to the side, allowing the boys to have a moment before they stepped forward and started up the ultrasound machine. Blaine grumbled when the cold gel was squirted on his stomach but it quickly warmed up when the obstetrician began running the wand along his belly, pausing when he spotted the baby onscreen. "Well, there it is. A healthy little baby."

Both teens stared at the screen in awe, amazed by the little bean shaped thing that was being shown to them. It was mindboggling to know something was growing in Blaine's stomach, something that they created together. Kurt was stunned into silence mostly, his blue eyes wide as he watched his child flutter around in the womb, living and thriving. It made it so much more real...

"It's healthy? Can you even tell that now?" Kurt asked, curious now that he found his voice.

"It's right around the size we'd expect to see for a pregnancy that's this far into term. So, Blaine, even though you've been having a rough time with the morning sickness, it looks as though your child is growing according to schedule. As it is, you're almost twelve weeks and you'll be out of your first trimester soon-" Kurt cleared his throat and the doctor silenced. "Yes?"

"So when's his due date?"

"Well, considering the date of conception having been at the end of May, you're looking at a baby due near or a little after Valentine's Day. I would say the 18th, but since this is your first baby, it could go either way. Some first babies are born late, others come early. Male pregnancies usually result in a baby born a little earlier but some can go the whole nine yards."

"So we might have a Valentine's baby?" Blaine questioned, his wide eyes still glued to the screen. It felt very surreal to see the little blob in front of him, knowing that it was his baby, a part of him. It looked human enough, but it was still very small with wee tiny limbs and just looking at it made a knot swell in Blaine's throat.

"You might have a Valentine's baby."

Kurt looked between the doctor and Blaine, his eyes watering when he thought about his friend's words. We might. We. To him, it sounded like Blaine wanted to keep the little one and even though he expected to have a sick feeling overtake him due to the idea of it all, instead he felt calm... and it was strange. Really, really strange.

::::::::::

"Hey. Are you hungry?" Kurt asked, taking his eyes off of the road for a second to glance at Blaine. They were fresh out of the doctor's office, prints of the baby's first scan in Blaine's hands, and now it was either go back to Blaine's house or go grab something to eat. Honestly, the idea to get some food was something Kurt thought should definitely happen; one, he wanted to spend more time with Blaine, and two, Blaine really needed to eat more. The whole weight loss deal scared the crap out of Kurt and even though he knew it wasn't Blaine's fault, deep down, he was going to do everything in his power to find something (anything) that Blaine could eat and keep down. "Well?"

"I don't think I could keep anything down, Kurt."

"Well, we can try. There's a diner on the outskirts of Lima that makes great pancakes. You wanna try that?"

"I don't know."

"If it doesn't sit well with you, then we can go home or you can come back to my place. Whatever floats your boat."

Blaine set the photocopies of the ultrasound on his lap and leaned back in his seat, staring out of the window as the summer breeze fanned his face. "If you want, we can go to the diner. I'll try something. I am getting a little hungry."

"Great."

::::::::::

Despite his extreme nausea, Blaine tried to stomach a bowl of fruit salad in order to appease Kurt, who spent the whole lunch hour watching him cautiously. For a while, it looked like the food was going to stay down, but within ten minutes of being back in the car, Kurt had to pull over so Blaine could stumble out onto the side of the road and throw up.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made you eat."

"It's okay," Blaine croaked, laying down in the backseat, his arms crossed over his belly and his eyes squeezed shut. Kurt tried to avoid as many potholes as he could on the drive towards his house, but there were some areas that were bumpy as hell and he just couldn't avoid the rumbles of the uneven streets.

"Sorry."

"It's okay."

Kurt rolled his eyes and continued the drive, glad when they finally reached his house. There weren't any other vehicles parked in the driveway, so everybody else was out. Thankfully, he and Blaine would be home alone and while, a long time ago, Kurt would've loved being able to be by himself with a cute guy, this was a completely different situation. Carefully, he parked the car and helped Blaine climb out of the back, gently leading him to the house. As soon as they were inside, Blaine's hands shot up to his mouth and Kurt dragged him to the downstairs guest bathroom, shaking his head in sympathy when Blaine fell to his knees in front of the toilet and began heaving his guts out. "God, Abs."

Blaine whined and hunched over the toilet seat, one arm pressed flat against the wall while the other held the side of the sink. His breathy groans and gasps made Kurt's heart ache and he plopped down on the ground, sliding a steady arm around Blaine's waist to hold him steady. In his grasp, Blaine was trembling, body lurching with each cough and when he was finally finished expelling whatever was left in his stomach, he slumped back against Kurt's body, boneless and sweaty, his breathing shaky.

"How 'bout we get you up off of the floor and rinse your mouth? Then you can lay down in my room. How's that?"

Blaine nodded weakly, as if the action was too much for his tired body to handle. Kurt hugged him a little closer and hefted his weight against him, practically carrying his friend up the stairs and to his bedroom. At first, he was just going to lay him down on the sofa, but the thought of Finn coming home and seeing them made Kurt nervous, so he carried Blaine upstairs and gently laid him on his bed. When Blaine's head hit the pillow, he sighed and snuggled into it, grimacing for a second before his features evened out.

"What?"

"Your pillows smell like smoke."

"Oh fuck. Sorry, I forgot. We can go-"

"No, it's okay. They smell like you too," Blaine murmured, snuggling into the bedding. It was obvious he was exhausted based on how thick and slow his words were coming out. His eyes were already closed and Kurt could see the bags underneath them and how pale he looked in the dim light of his room. The way Blaine was curled up also accentuated the soft pudge of his belly and Kurt's eyes stayed locked on the area where his child grew. Just seeing his baby at the appointment today made it all more real and Kurt wanted to feel, to be able to touch where his child grew.

"Blaine?"

"Hmm?"

"Can I lay with you?"

The younger teen snuffled and opened his eyes a crack, staring sleepily at Kurt with a look that Kurt had never seen before. Smiling, he lifted his arm up and wiggled his fingers, waiting until Kurt toed off his heavy boots and climbed onto the bed beside him. Once he was laying down, Blaine snuggled into him and rested his head on Kurt's shoulder, breathing him in for a moment before he started to fall asleep again.

"You okay, Abs?"

"Yeah."

"Good." Within moments, soft snores came from the exhausted boy sleeping against him and Kurt's stomach backflipped over how domestic it all was. They were cuddled up in bed together, like they were husbands or something... and Blaine was carrying their child. Hand twitching, Kurt slid his arm behind Blaine's back and held him closer, pressing his other hand against the barely there swell of his ex-lover's stomach. It felt hard to his touch, evident of the child growing inside, and when Kurt's fingers splayed over the bump, Blaine's breath hitched. Even in his sleep, he was surprised by the touch, like it was an idea completely out of left field. However, he still curled in closer to Kurt, his breath tickling the length of Kurt's neck, and the other boy wasn't phased by it at all.

Smiling, Kurt rubbed his hand over his friend's stomach and pressed a kiss to the smooth skin of Blaine's forehead, hugging the younger teen a little closer as he too started to drift away.

::::::::::

"Thanks for coming with me today."

"Thanks for letting me come... and for giving me some of the pictures. My dad's gonna flip."

"My dads are too. They'll be fighting each other over who gets to come with me next time, I think. They act like they're terrified of being grandparents, but I know my dads... they'll spoil this baby rotten."

Kurt chewed on his lower lip, looking from Blaine to the Berry household that loomed behind him. "You keep on talking about the baby in... uh, a permanent sense. Are you thinking of keeping it?"

"I don't-" Blaine stuttered, flushing a deep crimson. Obviously he hadn't realized that his actions throughout the day were telling Kurt otherwise. "I didn't mean... Kurt, I-"

"It doesn't bother me, you know?"

"It... it doesn't?"

"No. I mean, I know we sorta discussed the options, but if you really want to keep it, I'll be in its life. I'm not a deadbeat. I'd do right by my kid."

"I never said you wouldn't. I just... I don't know. I don't want you to think I'm trying to trap you, because I'm not." Blaine crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at his feet. "It's just... today really made me think. Seeing the baby made me want to... want to keep it more, I guess. I'm still scared to death because I want to go to college and I want to get out of Ohio, but I also want to give this baby a chance."

"But you could also give it a chance with another family? Not that I'm suggesting!" Kurt exclaimed, throwing his hands up in defense. Blaine shot him a look and he frowned. "I just meant that we have months to think about this. I felt the same way you did when I saw the baby too, but our senior year is starting in a few weeks and then we'll be sending in college applications and who knows what we'll think then?"

"So you're saying that we shouldn't put all of our eggs in one basket?"

"Blaine, what the fuck are you talking about?"

The younger boy laughed and rolled his eyes, turning towards his house. "Nothing. Forget it. I'll call you tomorrow."

"Yeah, sure. Get your rest and everything and let me know if you're able to keep any food down because I'll go to the store and stock up on it."

Blushing, Blaine playfully shoved Kurt's shoulder and began the trek back to his house, freezing when he noticed Hiram standing in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest and glaring at the two boys in the driveway. "Dad! You're home!"

"Yes, I am. Why don't you two come inside?" Kurt opened his mouth to protest, but Hiram's stern voice silenced him immediately. "I would prefer it if the person who knocked up my son would be a decent human being for once in his life and respect my wishes."

"Dad!' Blaine shouted, shocked and horrified at the words that slipped from his father's lips. Behind him, he could feel Kurt's anger; he was sure the other boy was snarling at his dad, but the elder Berry stepped into the house and held the front door open, waiting patiently for the two teen boys to enter the house.

"I'm waiting."

"I don't have to deal with this," Kurt cursed under his breath, the hair on the back of his neck bristling as he pushed down the inner rage that threatened to take over him. Blaine walked back to him and slid his hand into Kurt's, squeezing the sweaty palm tightly.

"Are you nervous?"

"No, but fuck, if your dad thinks he can intimidate me, he's got another thing coming."

Tugging, Blaine pulled Kurt towards the house and held onto his hand a little more when the door shut behind them. Across the hall, they could see where Leroy was already seated in the living room, patiently waiting for his husband, son, and Kurt to enter. Rachel was standing in the corner, her head downcast, and when she finally looked up at the two, a pitiful look spread across her face.

"Rachel, what did you do?"

"Your sister was only looking out for you, Blaine. Sit. You too, Kurt. We want to have a talk with the two of you."

Rachel stepped forward, shaking her head. "I didn't want to, Blaine. You have to believe me. It's just... Kurt left you once before. What makes you think-"

The anger that pooled in Kurt's veins flowed through him like fire and he hissed, scowling harder at the girl across from them. "Fuck off, midget!"

"Kurt!"

"You will not speak to our daughter that way!" Leroy bellowed. He looked like he was two seconds away from picking Kurt up himself and heaving the teen outside, but Blaine shrunk in closer to him, holding Kurt's hand against his body.

"Dad, wait! Just... you guys are making it worse! Can't we just talk about whatever you want and then Kurt can go? He's not being... I mean, he's trying! Please don't do this." Blaine looked between his parents and friend, pleading with all of them as well as he could. His hands were shaking, too many days of not being able to keep food down finally catching up with him thanks to all the adrenaline, and when the room noticed his pallid skin and trembling body, they all settled quickly.

"Blaine," Hiram started, sitting on the couch beside his husband. Rachel took a seat on the other side and they waited for Kurt and Blaine to sit as well (the latter choosing to sit on the loveseat instead of with everyone else.) "We just want to make sure you're being careful. We know about what happened the last time you were together and god, you're pregnant. Kurt hasn't proven his loyalty to you at all. He got you pregnant and left you and now you're going to run off with him instead of being with your family. This isn't like you, Blaine."

"Kurt's making up for what happened, dad. He's going to be in this child's life and he supports me no matter what I do. I know you guys are weary of him, but he's trying for me and the baby."

Rachel spoke up, looking between the two boys. "Why didn't you ask me to go with you to your doctor appointment today? I had to find out from Finn that you two left and then I remembered you had an appointment and... you should've asked me."

"You're not my baby's father," Blaine grumbled, glaring at his older sibling. "I was planning on having you all go next time, but for the first ultrasound, I really wanted Kurt to be the only one there. I wasn't doing it out of spite. I wish you all could understand that."

The Berrys looked at each other and Blaine scoffed, glancing over at Kurt to see how his friend was doing. Kurt looked pissed beyond belief still; everyone around him was talking about him like he wasn't in the room and while he wasn't the kind of person to let people get away with treating him like garbage, all he could think about was the feeling of Blaine's shaky hands within his own. He wasn't going to get into it with Rachel and the Berry men with Blaine so messed up beside him. It would just work Blaine up even more and he was already in bad shape. So, for once in his life, Kurt kept his lips zipped.

"Are you okay?" Blaine asked, glancing up into Kurt's icy grey eyes. He knew Kurt was furious, it was written all over his face, and Blaine wasn't going to make him stay if he was getting upset. It wasn't fair to him, no matter how upset Blaine was over their one night stand. Sighing, he rubbed the bones of Kurt's knuckles with his thumb and held the other boy's hand a little closer to his stomach, shivering when Kurt let go of his hand and pressed his palm against the swell. A strained noise came from someone on the couch and Blaine looked over at them, frowning when he caught both of his dads glaring at him.

"Perhaps you should say goodnight to Kurt, Blaine."

"Why? You guys were the ones who wanted him to come in. I was saying goodnight to him earlier when you came outside."

Leroy muttered something under his breath and stood up from the couch. "Don't argue with us, please. Say goodnight to your friend and come back here so we can finish this discussion."

Grumbling, Blaine stood and Kurt got to his feet as well, glaring at the family as Blaine dragged him from the living room and out into the foyer. "I'm so sorry about them," Blaine apologized, his eyes darting back and forth between the entrance to the den and the front door. "I didn't know they'd be doing this today. Otherwise I would've had you drop me off down the street."

"And risk you falling on the walk home? Yeah, right. Be careful, Abs, and call me tomorrow - granted your owners don't take away your phone and your rights first."

Blaine chuckled, shoving Kurt's shoulder before he ducked in for a quick hug. The action surprised Kurt and he didn't have a chance to hug back before Blaine pulled away. "Drive safe, okay? Text me when you get home and let me know what your dad thinks of the scans."

"Can do. Drink some water or something, okay? Don't be getting sick on me."

"I'll try not to."

Smirking, Kurt waved and stepped out of the house, stalking off to his car as the voices of Blaine and the Berrys faded behind him. He was sure Blaine was arguing with his dads and he hoped the boy didn't overexert himself, but honestly, he couldn't remain there any longer, not with everyone treating him like some sort of delinquent. They didn't even know him.

Yeah, but you also slept with their son and knocked him up. Not to mention broke his heart. You're a peach, Kurt Hummel, his mind hissed and Kurt scoffed, slamming his car door shut as he started up the Navigator. Within minutes, he was on the road, the radio playing in the background and his thoughts roaming wild with everything that had been thrown at him in the last few weeks.

Blaine couldn't take anymore discussion of how bad Kurt was for him and la di da. His dads were arguing with him about Kurt, Rachel was throwing her own two cents in about how distraught Blaine was after he woke up alone that unforgettable May morning, and all Blaine could think about was the blinding headache that was coming up on him faster than he could count. By the time ten minutes had passed (ten neverending minutes of complaining and terrible attempts at persuading), Blaine threw his hands into the air and stormed off to his bedroom.

But not before he all but threw his envelope of pictures of the baby at his family.

After he'd successfully slammed his bedroom door and changed into his pajamas, he climbed into bed and checked his phone for a text from Kurt. However, exhaustion won him over and before he could make sure Kurt was home safe and sound, he fell fast asleep, too tuckered out from the day's events and from the headache that was pounding within his skull.

From Kurt: I'm home. Not dead. Are your rents still bitching about me?

From Kurt: Dad loves the pics by the way. He swears the kid looks like him.

From Kurt: He also wants you to come over for dinner one night. Carole thinks she can whip up something for you to eat and NOT throw up.

From Kurt: Are you even there? Did you fall asleep?

From Kurt: Blaine?

From Kurt: Make sure you eat something tomorrow and call me. Don't forget.

The following morning, Kurt woke up to his phone ringing non-stop. It was later in the morning and while ten o' clock wasn't a usual hour for Kurt to rise at (he woke up early most days), he spent so long talking with his dad about Blaine and the baby that he turned in late and was just now waking up to his phone ringing.

Which, after several seconds of struggling to get up, he noticed was Blaine calling.

"Hello?" He said, his voice still thick from sleep. "Sorry it took me so long to answer. I just got up."

"Kurt?"

That's not Blaine. Kurt froze in his spot, fear shooting up his spine.

"Rachel?"

"Hey. I, umm..."

"Why are you on Blaine's phone? Where's Blaine?"

"We're at... umm, Kurt." There were other voices on the line and Kurt felt himself grow angrier by the second. His annoyance that Rachel wasn't answering his fucking question grew and he cursed, startling Rachel from whatever she was doing.

"What's going on? Where the fuck is Blaine?"

"I... Kurt, we're at the hospital. Blaine's really, really sick."

"Is he okay?" His words were stuttered, punctuated by each bounce of his feet as he struggled to hop into his pants. He wasn't even sure if anything he was throwing on was clean, but all that mattered was that he got to Blaine. "Rachel? Are you still there?"

"He's on fluids. He just kept on throwing up and then he fainted on dad and he wasn't keeping anything down. We had to bring him here and they've got an IV in him now. He was severely dehydrated and they diagnosed him with something, but I can't remember the name of it." Someone repeated the name to her and she tried to repeat it, but gave up. "Anyway, he's asking for you. I told him I'd call so-"

"I'm on my way."

"You are?"

"Hell yeah, I am. Jesus fucking Christ, Berry. Text me what room and shit you're at and I'll be there as soon as I can. Bye." Before Rachel could respond, he ended the call and went running out of his room, past Finn and his dad, and out to the car. He could hear his dad calling his name, but he couldn't waste time. Instead, he hopped into the car and sped off, driving like a bat out of hell towards Lima Memorial.

:::::::::

"Kurt, you're here!"

Rachel stood up from her chair next to Blaine's bed and waved him over, waiting until the tall teen stopped in front of the bed before she took her leave. The rest of the room was empty minus Blaine, who was curled up on his side with an IV taped to his hand. Wires from various machines hung around him and he looked absolutely miserable to be there, but he was awake and he looked happy to see Kurt, so as long as he was okay then that was all that mattered.

"Abs-"

"I got sick."

"Yeah, that's what your sister said. Where's your dad? Well... your dads, I mean."

"They went to get something to eat."

"They know I'm here?"

"I told them to call you. They know."

Kurt nodded and took Rachel's empty seat, sliding down in the chair as he locked eyes with his sick friend. Blaine's color was still pale and he looked like he was seconds away from falling asleep, but when his red-ringed golden eyes fell onto Kurt, he offered him a little smile before nuzzling his pillow.

"How do you feel?"

"Tired. I had a headache after you left last night and when I woke up this morning, it was still there and I just kept throwing up. I think I went to get my dad and I fainted or something. He caught me and then they brought me here... and now I'm hooked up to this drip thing until I'm not so dehydrated."

"Thank god you're alright though. What about... what about the baby?"

"The baby's fine, thank goodness. I'm just having a bout of extreme morning sickness basically. They called it: hyperemesis gravidarum. It's not very common, but it happens and thanks to my luck, I'm dealing with it."

Kurt shook his head sympathetically and reached out, trailing his fingers along Blaine's jawline. He hated seeing Blaine so weakened, so tired from everything being taken out of him due to the pregnancy... the pregnancy that was all his fault. "I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Abs."

"It's not your fault."

"I got you pregnant."

"Yeah, well, it's still not your fault. My body's a little crazy, but I'm used to it." He yawned, covering his mouth with his taped-up hand. A smile spread across his face when Kurt brushed his fingers along his arm. "You know, yesterday when you let me nap at your house... I hadn't slept that well in a while."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I mean, I slept a lot the first few weeks of this pregnancy, but it was fitful as heck. Yesterday though, it was... nice."

"And why's that?" Kurt asked, teasing, his lips turning upward in a sly smile. He knew this game; he and Blaine played it before and back then, while they weren't as close (nor had they ever been as intimate), they still flirted like crazy and Blaine was doing it now. There he was, flirting even though he was hulled up in the hospital sick as a dog with IVs sticking out of his arms. "Blaine?"

"I like being cuddled. Is that too much to ask?"

"Nah. Will anyone get mad?"

"They shouldn't." He looked around the room for a moment before he jerked his head backwards, gesturing to the bed. "Lay with me? I'm really tired."

"Lucky for you, I haven't had a smoke today."

"Thank god."

Grinning, Kurt kicked off his chucks and climbed over Blaine's blanketed legs, tucking himself into the small amount of space behind Blaine's body. Automatically, one arm slid underneath Blaine's side and curled over his chest while the other fell over his stomach, his fingers pressed against the small bump hidden beneath Blaine's hospital gown. A hitch of breath told Kurt everything and he leaned his face into the back of Blaine's neck, nosing against the fine hairs at the base. "Feel better?"

"Much."

"Good, I'm glad."

Both boys continued to lay together, Blaine tucked against his friend as he fell into a much needed sleep with Kurt's arms wrapped around him. It took Kurt a little longer to doze off but within an hour, he was knocked out as well, too far gone to notice the Berry dads coming in and spotting the boys together, weary, yet understanding smiles on their faces.

"What are we doing to do?" Hiram asked, looking at his son and the boy's former lover. Leroy took his hand and squeezed it tight, also looking at the two sleeping teens.

"I don't think there's anything we can do, honey. This is all them. It's got nothing to do with us anymore."

A/N: So, so sorry for the delay everyone! The holidays were HECTIC, but I'm back and I've been trying to get the willpower to write this. I've been writing another mpreg (for those of you who haven't seen it yet, it's called My Baby's Got a Secret) so my mind's been fighting between the two plots, but hopefully I have it all sorted now. I hope this chapter made up for the wait. Let me know what you thought or if you have any ideas for future chapters! Thanks!
