Two Steps Back
Disclaimer: I'm not RIB, so I don't own Glee or any of the characters. If I did, I'd be rich and probably not writing fanfiction! This fic will dive into MPREG, so I'll be using my go-to MPREG explanation like I did in When We're Older aka the Reddin gene. The gene is based on the Reddin character from the 1994 movie Junior. You should really watch it if you like mpreg. It's a good movie, I promise (I also don't have any rights to it either!) I also don't really own anything mentioned in this except for the crazy storyline so... I OWN NOTHING. The title is inspired by a Paula Abdul song called Opposites Attract by the way.
Autumn came rolling into Ohio with cold, dreary weather a few weeks after school started. Blaine was still having trouble with his morning sickness, though he hadn't had any other fainting spells minus the one he had in English class a few weeks prior. When he got back to school and the people in his class wondered what was wrong with him, he said he contracted a case of salmonella from a bad piece of chicken and people believed him, knowing damn well that one of the area grocery stores liked to sell way past due food to its patrons (and it was also the site of some serious foodborne illnesses in the past even though it never closed down.)
"I'm never buying anything from there again," Blaine had told a curious classmate, all while ticking off that particular store in his mind because while he'd never had a problem with that place in the past, just knowing that everyone believed him getting food poisoning from there made him weary.
After that, the time sped by and as the first part of the semester started to wind down, Blaine found himself in a big predicament - how was he going to hide his pregnancy the further along he got? His clothes were already getting too tight on him and while he was starting to feel a bit better thanks to a change in his diet (as well as a change in his vitamin regimen), he wasn't feeling too confident that his choice of clothing did anything to help hide his growing stomach. There were mornings when he'd stand in his room, angry tears in his eyes as his jeans spread too tightly along his growing hips, the button and zippers undone as his swollen belly blocked the sight from his watery eyes. On those days, he'd yank on a pair of sweatpants and head off to school, bitter and disgusted, and terribly enough, he'd take out his anger on Kurt only to apologize tearfully later on.
Kurt always understood though. He always knew when Blaine was having an off day and he'd let his friend lay into him for hours until the other boy finally broke down. Then they would sit together and talk until everything would be fine again. It seemed to be like a neverending cycle, but Kurt let it pass.
There was still that underlying guilt that he felt whenever he thought about Blaine being pregnant. While their classmates talked about college and taking the exams needed to get into various universities, Blaine was plotting out his diet plan so that he wouldn't end up spending yet another weekend in the hospital with an IV in his arm. While the athletes and other students dealt with their after-school activities, Blaine went home and napped for a few hours, zapped off all energy from spending several hours in school. His senior year was boring as hell and all Kurt could see was his guilt. He saw it every single day that Blaine spent rubbing his aching back or yelling at him because his clothes were too tight; he saw it during the mornings when Blaine would come up to his locker, pale faced and shaking, or whenever his friend would call him up and tell him he wouldn't be at school because he was too sick.
He was too sick because of Kurt. He was unhappy because of Kurt. It was all because of Kurt.
"Kurt?"
The guy in question looked over and pulled his cigarette away from his lips, blue eyes softening as Blaine snuck underneath the bleachers and took a seat on the ratty old couch. Since the coast was clear, the younger boy immediately went to rub at his hidden belly, his hand pausing over the most swollen part of his abdomen before he glanced up at his unborn child's father.
"I knew you'd be out here."
"Shouldn't you be at lunch?"
"I needed to talk to you. I told Quinn to keep the others back so we could have a second alone."
Alone? "Huh. I was wondering where everyone else was." Quickly, he finished his cigarette and then stomped the nub out, picking up the blackened filter to toss into a nearby trashcan. "Well, what did you want to talk about?"
"I can... I can feel her moving."
"What?" Kurt looked up from the trash can and his eyes widened when he caught Blaine's enormous grin. His friend was beaming at him, hand still pressed against his stomach, and he only smiled wider when Kurt took several strides to plop down at his side. "She's kicking?"
"Yeah. She was fidgeting around this morning and at first I thought I was having gas pains or something, but this isn't gas. It's her. I can finally feel her moving!"
"Wow, Abs... that's awesome." Looking around, he made sure no one was nearby before he put his hand over Blaine's and left it there, marveling at the insane change in the other boy's belly. Sure, he couldn't feel the baby kicking yet, but just being able to feel the growth in Blaine made everything seem pretty cool. Since the baby's conception, Blaine had grown quite a bit; his stomach was rounder, fuller, and his whole body was preparing for the baby. Kurt knew full well that the whole ordeal wasn't comfortable; Blaine had issues with his legs aching quite a bit because his hips were spreading as the baby grew, but still, he looked adorable and there were some days when Kurt physically had to fight himself from preening too much at the fact that Blaine was carrying his child.
But then there were the days when the guilt would lay in hard and he'd wonder to himself why he was so proud of having a baby with Blaine when they were just high school seniors with their whole lives ahead of them and he had ruined Blaine's.
Sighing, he moved his hand off of his friend's and let it fall to the side, gently rubbing at Blaine's waist as he looked down at the hoodie that hid their big secret. "Has Mason been giving you anymore problems?" He asked, mind flipping towards thoughts about the school nurse, the only other person minus the glee club that knew about Blaine's pregnancy. Since Blaine's fainting spell a month before, she'd been watching the dark-haired boy like a hawk, eyes always on him whenever they walked by her office. Somedays she acted like she wanted to say something to him, but Kurt was always there to get her to back off, glaring at the woman before she went back to her room and let them be.
He hoped she'd leave them alone for good eventually. He got sick of her staring.
"She's probably just curious. I don't think McKinley's ever had a carrier pregnancy before. I must be like a whole new playground for her or something."
"She'd better not say anything," Kurt warned and Blaine chuckled, nudging his friend with his shoulder.
"She won't. She's not that dumb. Don't worry about her." Yawning, Blaine leaned against Kurt for a moment and looked out at the entrance to the skanks' lair, his golden eyes dim in the cloudy grey of their surroundings. "I have an ultrasound next week. Are you coming?"
"As if I'd miss it," Kurt hummed, moving one of his hands to stroke at Blaine's hair. He ran his fingers through the carefully sculpted locks, ignoring Blaine's whine of protest when he broke the shielding barrier of gel and hairspray to fluff up his friend's curls. "Just let me know the time and I'll come get you or meet you there or something. Are your dads coming? Or Rachel?"
"They want to, but I'd rather just have it be me and you."
"Is that so? Why?"
"Because then we can find out if she is really a she, silly."
Kurt's eyes widened. "Really?"
"Yep. So are you coming?"
"Of course. I wouldn't miss it for anything."
::::::::::
"So what do you think you're having?" Dr. Brady asked, his eyes flicking over to the two boys as he ran the doppler wand over Blaine's swollen stomach. Kurt sat up a little straighter on his stool and looked down at Blaine, catching the other boy's eye for just a second before he looked up to answer the obstetrician.
"We're thinking it's a girl. I don't know why, but we are."
"Well, let's see if you're correct." He moved the wand a little more to the right and looked back up at the couple again. "And you're sure you want to know?"
"Yes," Blaine breathed, looking intently at the screen as their little one moved around a bit. He tightened his grip around Kurt's hand and felt Kurt's fingers squeeze his back. "We want to get everything we need for the baby before it's born and it'd be easier if we just knew what it was. Whatever it is, we want it to be healthy. That's all that matters."
"Well," Dr. Brady started, moving the wand again before he took a long pause. A smile spread across his face. "It looks like you two were correct. You're having a little girl. Congratulations." When the two teens gave a cheer, he pointed out everything onscreen and took a few screenshots with the words, I'm a GIRL printed on them. Then, for the big reveal, he made up a DVD for them, giving it to the expectant parents before he let them have a moment together. Once he was out of the room, Kurt pulled Blaine into a tight hug, holding him firmly in his arms as Blaine sniffled.
"We were right."
"I can't believe we're having a girl! Girls in carrier pregnancies are so rare!"
"Looks like we did it right then!" Kurt laughed, pressing his cheek against Blaine's forehead. When he pulled back, he ran his thumbs beneath his friend's watery eyes, his breath caught in his throat. Blaine looked so beautiful in that moment, golden eyes molten like sweet honey; lips parted as he breathed in and stared up at Kurt. On the pictures beside them were the first official confirmed photographs of their daughter and all Kurt could think about was how much he cared for both Blaine and their child. He loved them both so much, he loved them more than anything, and... it was just a lot to take in. He was going to be a father in a few months. He was going to have another life to be responsible for and then there was the whole Blaine of it all and while he was terrified to all hell, he was so excited too.
And god, so was Blaine, if his bright smile was proof enough.
"I'm so happy," Blaine whispered, blinking up at Kurt, and before he could make another sound, Kurt's lips were on his own, silencing him quickly. Blaine hummed low in his throat, bringing his hands up from his sides to hold onto Kurt's forearms and he kissed back, tilting his head as Kurt's tongue swiped out against the seam of his lips. Opening his mouth, he allowed Kurt entrance and flicked his tongue against the other boy's, earning a moan from Kurt as their tongues tasted each other.
It had been so long since their last kiss, at the drunken hook-up at Noah Puckerman's house, and now there they were: kissing in the doctor's office, drunk on the news that they were going to have a daughter.
It was so much different, yet a little bit the same and before Blaine could question it, there was a knock at the door and Kurt shot away from him like he was about to be caught doing something illegal.
"Mr. Anderson-Berry? Doctor Brady wanted me to drop off these pamphlets for you about the next month of pregnancy. He said you were doing incredibly well with your diet and he's glad you haven't been too ill lately, but he'll want to see you in three weeks, okay?" The nurse rambled out, unaware that she had just interrupted something important. She handed over the booklets, bid the two boys goodbye, and then left just like that, leaving the room and leaving both Kurt and Blaine flustered.
"Kurt-" Blaine started, curious to what his friend was going to do next, but before he could make any other words out, Kurt turned towards the door.
"If you're done getting dressed, we should head out. It's getting late."
"But-"
"Don't forget the DVD or the pictures. I'll get our jackets." And like that, the moment was gone, and Blaine was left walking next to a silent Kurt Hummel as they made their way to the front desk to schedule Blaine's next appointment.
Kurt wouldn't bring up the kiss at all after that.

The Hudmels and the Berrys were estactic to know they were getting a granddaughter/niece in their family. Rachel was extremely excited to have a little girl to teach how to sing and dance (as well as dress up.) Finn, while weary, was also excited that he was going to be an uncle and hoped that his niece would be athletic enough that he could teach her how to inline skate or throw a ball. Both sets of grandparents were also bursting from the seems about a granddaughter to spoil and while Kurt and Blaine played off their comments as silly, they both knew full well that their parents would spoil the hell out of their little girl.
After showing everyone the DVD, Kurt and Blaine decided to break the news to the glee club by singing a song to them (which was Rachel's idea basically.) It took Kurt a little bit to come to terms with singing with Blaine because for one, they'd never sang together ever and two, while they were both the parents of the baby, they weren't together and deep down, Kurt worried that his classmates might think they were if they sang a duet with each other.
"You don't have to sing with me, you know?" Blaine said quietly, settling back on Kurt's bed as the other boy paced the room. In the privacy of the Hudmel home, Blaine was able to wear whatever he wanted, so that day, he was lounging around in a slightly tight t-shirt and a pair of loose sweatpants. His hands trailed over his round belly as he watched Kurt pace the room and after several minutes of silence, he scoffed. "I can sing by myself, Kurt. You don't have to embarrass yourself if you don't want to."
Kurt froze, "Who said anything about being embarrassed?"
"Your actions do. You won't even look at me for longer than a second anymore. I can understand wanting to not be associated with me at school or something, but even here you've been distant."
"Blaine, it's not-"
"If it's about that kiss the other day, then I don't know what to tell you because you kissed me first. I only acted on my feelings and-"
"Your feelings?" Kurt turned to look at Blaine and frowned when he saw a flash of sadness flicker in Blaine's eyes.
"If you think I don't care about you, you're an idiot, Kurt. I care a lot about you... as my friend and as the father of my daughter. You might not feel the same way, but honestly... what are we to you? What do I mean to you?"
"Blaine-"
"Because, you know, I'm a little confused here," Blaine admitted, sitting up on the bed to sit cross-legged. He rested both of his hands on his belly and stared down at the bedding, lip tucked between his teeth. "You kissed me and then you acted like it was nothing. But it didn't feel like that to me... and if it wasn't anything to you, I'd like to know so I won't get my hopes up."
Won't get his hopes up. Fuck. Kurt looked down at his socked feet and shook his head, hating the fact that he ever kissed Blaine the other day at the ob/gyn. He got caught up in the moment, his heart too full with love that he just exploded and acted on instinct. Kissing Blaine was something he'd wanted for so long. For months he'd hidden his feelings for his best friend and in that moment, seeing their daughter onscreen and feeling all the emotion in the room, he couldn't stop himself.
But he could now.
He couldn't let Blaine get caught up in anymore of his crazy. He'd already ruined enough of Blaine's life to severely alter his friend's future. They were expecting a child for Christ's sake! And yet, Blaine was sitting there admitting that he carried feelings for him that Kurt just couldn't let himself reciprocate. Because Blaine deserved so much better.
He deserved so much more than a pierced, rainbow haired fuck up ruining the rest of his life. Once he had the baby, he could move on. Kurt could be a distant memory or something. They didn't need to be together - they couldn't be together. Kurt wasn't going to allow it, no matter how much Blaine might want it. Frowning, he waited until Blaine looked up and when he finally caught Blaine's eyes, he felt his heart break over the desire he saw there.
"It was a mistake."
"A mistake?"
"It shouldn't have happened. Blaine, we're- we're better off as friends. I just... got caught up in the moment. Seriously. I'm excited about the kid and, like, finding out we're having a girl just capped it off because that's what I wanted, you know? And I guess it sorta bled into that and I... kissed you. It shouldn't have happened. I'm sorry."
"It's... okay," Blaine said softly, looking back down at his belly, and Kurt's frown deepened when he noticed how Blaine's eyelashes looked a little bit wet, dampened like he was fighting back tears.
"Blaine-"
"No, it's fine. I'm fine. Hormones," he chuckled sadly, shaking his head. "I just... you know how pregnant people get. Hormonal and stuff like that." Patting his belly, he scooted towards the edge of the bed and pushed himself up, swaying for a moment as he regained his sense of balance. Kurt wanted to reach out and help him stand up straight, but Blaine waved him off, smiling sadly as he walked over to the other side of the room and grabbed his jacket off of Kurt's vanity seat. "I should probably be going. Dad's gonna be home in an hour and I promised to clean the kitchen before he got off work, so I should go do that before he gets back and flips out."
Kurt swallowed, the knot in his throat making it hard for him to speak. He could see Blaine shaking from where he stood across the room and he knew his friend was barely holding it together as he slipped his jacket on. Plus, Kurt knew that Leroy wouldn't be angry with Blaine over the kitchen; the Berrys were doing their best to keep Blaine from doing too much strenuous labor as it was, so they'd definitely not get upset over a semi-dirty kitchen... and if Kurt knew any better, Rachel would've probably scrubbed the place clean anyway so that Blaine wouldn't have to lift a finger. Shaking his head, he went to open his mouth but Blaine slipped past him, opening his bedroom door and stepping out into the hall before Kurt had a chance to object.
"I'll see you in school tomorrow."
"Bla-"
Blaine was gone before his name slipped from Kurt's lips. Within seconds, the pregnant boy was peeling down the steps, calling a goodbye to Carole and Burt before he left the house. Moments after that, the sound of his car starting and backing out of the driveway filled Kurt's ears and the older teen stumbled over to his window, peering out into the darkness to watch the one person he loved more than anything leave him thinking that Kurt didn't feel for him the way he felt for Kurt.
::::::::::
"Blaine, you're home awfully early. I thought you were staying at the Hummels for supper."
"I'm not feeling well."
"Are you feeling nauseous? Do you need me to call Dr. Brady? Because I-"
"No, I just... I'm really tired, dad. I'm just gonna go to bed."
"Are you sure? Because I can-"
"I'm fine. I'll eat something later, okay? Just let me nap a little bit."
"Okay... if you say so," Leroy relented, watching cautiously as Blaine tip-toed up the stairs. Seconds later, his son's bedroom door opened and shut and Leroy sighed, turning back to the kitchen to go finish loading the dishwasher.
Something was up.

The following day at school found Kurt waiting outside of the main building, coffee in hand as he watched piles of too-tired students go sluggishly into McKinley as yet another October rain spilled around them. Finn stood beside him, drinking one of those ridiculous energy drinks while he tapped his foot against the railing of the steps.
"What do you think's taking Rach and Blaine so long? They're usually here by now."
"Maybe they're stuck in traffic. It is raining, Finn." Kurt said, his voice tight as his nerves, which were being frayed thin, pulled deep within him. He looked out into the parking lot for any sign of the Berrys' little car, but there wasn't a car in sight that looked like theirs... or their dads considering they sometimes borrowed Hiram's car whenever theirs acted up. Plus, Kurt was sure one of them would've mentioned any car trouble to him or Finn since both of them worked on cars all the time. Frowning, Kurt yanked out his phone and looked at the time, glaring when he realized that there was only five minutes left until the warning bell would sound for first period to start. After that, they'd have ten minutes to make it to class and while ten minutes was a lot of time, Kurt wanted to check up on Blaine before either of them went on with their day.
"There they are! Finally!" Finn cheered quietly, stepping out from under the umbrella to open his own and rush to Rachel's car. From his perch on the steps, Kurt could see the driver side door open up and then Rachel climbed out. However, no other door opened and Finn came back up with Rachel tucked beneath his arm, both of them looking up at Kurt when they got closer to the steps. "Before you ask," Finn started, "Rachel said Blaine'll be here later."
"Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he's fine. Daddy just wanted him to get some sleep. I guess he looked like he got hit by a bus this morning or something. I didn't get to see him, but daddy said he'd bring Blaine to school around lunchtime since he doesn't have anything important to do until later on today anyway. But don't worry, Kurt. He's fine."
"You're sure?"
"Yes. He's a-okay, just a little tired. I'm sure if anything happens though, he'll call you. You know he wouldn't leave you out of the loop."
He would if he was upset with me, Kurt told himself, sipping the last drag of his coffee before he tossed the empty container in the trash. He closed up his umbrella and stepped into the building, nose crinkling as the smell of mud, wet grass, and other various smells assaulted him. He was about to turn the corner when he heard a screech and the sound of something mushy hitting the floor and that's when he found himself staring down the hall at Tina Cohen-Chang and the new Irish transfer student Rory, the two covered in purple slush as a group of cup wielding jocks came storming down the hall towards him.
"Next one's for you, homo. One for you and your boyfriend. Be ready," Azimio hissed as he walked by.
Kurt sneered, spinning on his heel to launch himself at the retreating boy but Finn caught his shoulder and pulled him back, muttering something about Azimio not being worth the trouble. As the group of jocks walked away, Karofsky stared helplessly at Kurt, his expression odd and clouded, and the look made Kurt frown, confused. What is his problem? He wondered, stepping back to look over at Rory and Tina. He had no idea why Karofsky looked so plagued recently but honestly, his main problem wasn't Dave at all, but Dave's idiot jerk of a best friend. If he thinks he's gonna hurt Blaine, he's got another thing coming, Kurt thought silently, eyes narrowing as he imagined all the ways he'd destroy Azimio and his pack of ape friends if they even looked at Blaine funny.
He wouldn't let them harm Blaine or their child. No fucking way. Over his dead body.
::::::::::
By the time lunch rolled around, Blaine was nowhere to be found.
Kurt hung around the school as much as he could so that he could intercept Blaine whenever he saw him, but after fifteen minutes of just waiting, he became too antsy and decided to head out for a smoke. The rain had mostly tapered off after a couple hours of drizzling, so the walk to the area underneath the bleachers was a soggy, puddle-filled one, but by the time Kurt was leaning against the chainlink fence with a cigarette between his lips, he felt so much better, more so than he'd felt in days.
Beside him stood Quinn, also smoking while she flicked her lighter on and off, green eyes watching as Puck stuffed his face full of some strange looking cafeteria sandwich. "Could you be anymore disgusting?" She asked her on-again/off-again boyfriend and Puck grinned, sticking his tongue out to show off his chewed up sandwich before he went to take another big bite.
"You love it," he said around a mouthful of sandwich and Kurt rolled his eyes.
"You're both idiots."
"Takes one to know one," Quinn said plainly and Kurt glared at her, pulling his cigarette away from his lips for a second just to watch his friend.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means that I'm not as stupid as you think I am, Hummel. You've been crabby all day and Blaine's not at school when he's been doing pretty good at being here... so obviously something happened between you two. So, what was it? Did you finally admit your feelings?" She didn't wait for an answer. "Probably not. You probably did something to hurt him again. You haven't had a good track record lately when it comes to him, have you?"
"Fuck off."
"Well, what was it? Tell me all about it."
"I don't have to tell shit to you," Kurt hissed, pulling his cigarette to his lips to suck in a deep inhale. He exhaled the smoke out of his nose and looked over at Puck, frowning when he saw his other friend staring at him as seriously as Quinn was. "Fuck this. Not you too!"
"Well, she's got a point, bro. You've been doing pretty good lately and now you're being a bit of a bitch. No offense." Puck took another bite of his sandwich. "You and Anderson have this weird cat and mouse game goin' on and it's creepy."
"It's Anderson-Berry!" Kurt growled out, yanking out another cigarette from the pack in his jacket pocket. He lit it and began smoking on it, ignoring everything else his friends said as he sucked in the smoky nicotine and let the warmth fill up his chilled body. Beside him, both Quinn and Puck kept on rambling about stupid shit involving Blaine and he ignored them up until Quinn made a remark about college.
That's when he snapped.
"Why the fuck does it matter? Honestly!"
"Why are you getting so upset?" Quinn asked, eyebrows raised in shock. She leaned away from the fence for a second to stare deeply at her friend and Kurt looked away, knowing he looked a little worse for wear now that they'd gotten under his skin. "Once the baby's born, aren't you both going to go to separate colleges? Have you two even discussed this? You decided to keep this baby without talking about the consequences. I mean, Puck and I-"
"Blaine and I aren't you and Puck!"
"You aren't, but you have to admit that our situations were... are similar. You and Blaine had a drunken hook-up. So did I. You two weren't together. Same with us. You both had plans after high school. Yet you guys are keeping your kid. Now if you were putting it up for adoption, then I could understand, but-"
"We can't just give her up, Quinn!" Kurt yelled, arms falling to his sides as the fight flew out of him. Quinn went still next to him and then she leaned in closer, reaching one hand out to touch his bicep.
"It's a girl?"
"We found out last week... we're not- we're not giving her up."
"But you both have plans. You've wanted to go to New York since freshman year. What changed?"
"I still want to go to New York," Kurt whispered. He dropped his half-smoked cigarette into a puddle and leaned back against the fence, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm going to New York. I just... don't know when."
"What if Blaine plans on going somewhere else? Then what are you going to do? Give up custody of your child while you're on one side of the country and he's on the other?"
Kurt looked over at her and shook his head, pushing away the thoughts that filled his mind - the thoughts of him, Blaine, and their little girl living in New York City. He couldn't entertain thoughts like that, not when he and Blaine weren't together (and never would be.) "Blaine doesn't know about my plans for New York. He doesn't even know that I've been applying to schools there. We've never talked about it."
"And yet you're having a baby with him? Strange."
"You know what? Fuck you, Quinn. I know what I'm doing."
"By not telling Blaine about New York, you're only going to hurt him more in the long run. I told you, Kurt - I'm not dumb. I've seen the way he looks at you. We all have." Behind them, Puck made a noise to show that agreed with his girlfriend's words and Kurt flipped him off, annoyed to all hell. Quinn continued, "Blaine's in love with you... and if he's not completely head over heels by now, he will be. And all you're going to do is break him."
Shows how much you know, Fabray. I already have.
"You guys should really talk about New York, Kurt. It'll make things easier. Maybe you'll find out something that you'll like." Before she could finish whatever else she was saying, the sound of footsteps dragging across wet asphalt interrupted them and at the entrance of the lair appeared Sheila and some of the other skanks. Sheila's lips were pursed in a mischievous grin as she locked eyes with Kurt and before the older boy's heart could skip a beat, she spoke up, smiling wider.
"Way to go, Hummel. Way. To. Go."
"What the hell are you on, Sheila?"
"Word around school is that you knocked up that Berry guy."
No. No no no no no no. Kurt's veins iced up, his back tense as he stared wide-eyed at the group of girls standing across from him. Beside him, Quinn was reaching out for him but Kurt shook his head, heart racing in his chest as his mouth fell open and closed in shock. "Who- how did- who told you?"
"Azimio's running down the hall yelling it to everyone. I think he's looking for you."
"Are you... did he... what about Blaine?"
"Your baby daddy's back in the school. I saw your brother before I came out here. He said-" Before she was able to finish her sentence, Kurt tore off past the group and ran like a bat out of hell through the courtyard. His lungs were burning and he felt sick, like he was going to throw up on himself before he even made it into the building. However, as bad as he felt, all he could think about was Blaine, Blaine, Blaine and whether or not the other boy was okay. Because if Azimio knew about the baby, then someone must've snitched. That or something bad must've happened. Gasping, he threw open the door to the south entrance of the school and ran inside, ignoring the jeers and comments being thrown at him as various students heading to their next classes saw him run by.
"Where's Blaine?" He yelled at Artie when he spotted the wheelchair-bound boy coming around the corner. Artie shrugged, shaking his head and Kurt cursed under his breath, tearing down another hall to where he'd possibly find Blaine. The further he ran, the more his lungs ached and he mentally scolded himself for taking up smoking because it didn't do shit for his lung capacity. Fuck. Fucking fuck! Angrily, he stopped running and kicked his foot into a locker as he paused in another hallway, hunching forward to suck in a few deep breaths. Around him, people whispered and talked about him, making remarks about him and Blaine and all he could see was red. All he could hear was static and in that moment, he wanted nothing more than to just scream and hurt somebody.
"Kurt!"
Quickly, his head shot up and he locked eyes with Finn, fear gripping his insides as he took in his brother's scared expression. "Finn! Where's Blaine? Is he okay?"
"He's in the locker room," Finn called out, turning to run towards the gym. Kurt followed behind him, mind racing with questions, but mouth silent. It felt like his tongue was replaced with thick cotton and he ran behind his brother with a tightened throat and an ache in his heart. Something was wrong. Why would Blaine be in the locker room? "It's all my fault," Finn said softly when they finally skidded to a halt outside the locker room. He looked up at Kurt with sorrowful eyes and Kurt's heart jumped to his throat.
"W-Why?" He croaked out, pushing down the anger and despair that overtook him. He wanted to rush into to where Blaine was, but he needed to know what happened, how everyone found out about the baby. "How?"
"Rachel accidentally left her make-up bag in my gym bag and I left it in my gym locker. Blaine's anti-nausea meds were in there and he needed them. He just got to the school and he wanted them and... and I was eating, so he said he'd get them. So I gave him my combo. I didn't think- I wasn't thinking. He came down here on his own and..."
"And what? What Finn?"
"He ran into the guys."
::::::::::
Blaine closed his eyes, swaying slightly as his sweaty fingers slipped once again on the lock. Sighing, he took in a deep breath and ignored the throb in his stomach as the nausea began to bubble ferociously in his gut. Bile filled his throat and he swallowed thickly, pushing forward and putting all his concentration into opening Finn's locker so he could get his pills and go.
He knew it was a bad idea to come to school today, but originally, he only felt bad because he spent all night in bed crying over his argument with Kurt. The lack of sleep really got to him and when he finally got up that morning to head to school, he was so physically drained that he felt totally sick; however, he came in anyway. He'd missed too much school as it was. Coughing, he shook his head and twisted his fingers back on the lock, praying that this would be the last time he'd have to fight the locker.
It was during his last turn that he heard the door to the locker room swing open and when he looked up, his entire body turned ice cold because none other than one of his previous tormentors was standing there in the doorway, a cup of slushie in his hand.
"They've been looking for you," the guy spoke and Blaine shook his head in disbelief. He remembered this guy; this one was the guy who got his friends to lay off of him a little bit the first time they came after him. He was the one Blaine remembered seeing that had a scared look in his eye... like he was hiding from something.
His name was Dave something-or-other and he really didn't look like he wanted to be in that locker room anymore than Blaine did.
"W-Who's looking for me?"
"Z and the guys. They've been trying to find you all day."
"W-Why?"
"I don't know. I... you should really get out of here."
"I can't," Blaine whimpered, twitching a bit as the swirling feeling in his belly grew worse. He was sure that if he didn't get his pills soon, he'd be sick all over himself, so he turned back towards the locker, twisting the lock once more. "Please make them leave. Please."
"I don't know if I can-"
"Dave," Blaine pleaded, using the guy's name and looking up at him with watery eyes. His stomach churned painfully and he gasped, dropping one hand to his belly to press his palm against the ache within. Before he could realize the consequences of the actions, Karofsky gasped and Blaine looked up in horror. He couldn't believe what he'd done.
"Are you-" The jock started, eyes wide. "Are you pregnant?"
"I... please don't tell anyone," Blaine begged, tears welling his eyes, threatening to spill over at any second. "You can't tell anyone. Please? They'll hurt her."
"Is it-" Dave asked, licking his dry lips for a second as he watched Blaine's stomach. "Is it Hummel's?"
Blaine nodded, leaning against the locker as a dizzy spell hit him. He swayed for a second and laid his head against the cool metal, breathing out as the spell faded and allowed him to come back. "Please don't tell anyone. I can't let-"
Behind Dave, the door slammed open and one of the other jocks came skidding into the room, yelping when he spotted Karofsky and Blaine standing a few feet apart. "Oh hell yeah, K! You found him! AZIMIO! HE'S IN THE LOCKER ROOM!"
"No!"
Within seconds, the rest of the pack of neanderthals that had bullied Blaine last year came spilling into the locker room, Azimio at the head. All of them had cups of slush in their hands and Blaine felt the fear from earlier increase the closer the boys got to him. Scared, he curled his arms over his stomach and shook his head, stepping back away from the row of lockers. However, he wasn't paying attention to where he was walking and when the back of his calves bumped one of the benches, he stumbled back, luckily catching himself on the edge of the bench. Unfortunately, he did knock his forearm into the wood pretty hard and he cried out, cradling his arm against his chest as he sat back on his butt.
He was trembling; god, he was so scared.
"Guys-" Dave tried to intervene. Azimio shushed him and stepped closer to the crouched down boy on the floor, towering over him menacingly as he dangled the cup full of slushie over Blaine's head.
"I've been waiting for months to do this. And look! Your boyfriend's not here to save you! Fantastic. Maybe this time I can get a few... hmm, reminders in to let you know that we don't tolerate your kind here. It'll teach your boyfriend a lesson too. Maybe next time he'll think before he hits me in my face. Maybe I'll rough up his buckboy and see how he likes it. I mean, it's your fault I got hit in the face anyway." Angrily, Azimio squeezed the cup in his hand and it burst, causing a bit of the slush to drip down and land on Blaine's head.
Instantly, Blaine shivered and whined, tightening up. "Please don't do this."
"Or what? What are you going to do?" Azimio taunted, tipping the glass over to pour the rest of the cold drink over Blaine's head. He made a gesture to the group and they too emptied their drinks on top of Blaine, leaving him covered with several different colors and flavors of ice. "Like a fucking rainbow. Just like the fag you are." He laughed, "You gonna cry? Who's gonna help you now? Everyone else's at lunch. What a shame." Sneering, he went to make another move and that's when Karofsky snapped.
"Z, stop! He's pregnant!"
Immediately, Azimio froze, eyes bugged out as he looked down at Blaine's hunched over form. "Are you kidding me, Karofsky?"
"No. He's pregnant and it's Hummel's."
"No fucking way. Are you shittin' me?"
"He told me right before you guys got in here," Dave said, his eyes occasionally darting over to catch Blaine's shocked ones. In his gaze, Blaine could see the guy begging him to understand, but the overwhelming fear that everyone was going to know overpowered it all.
Blaine was so screwed.
"Well, fuck me sideways!" The hulking jock laughed, turning back to Blaine. His grin was sinister. "This is so much better than what I ever could have imagined. I don't even have to do anything! The school will eat his ass up for us." He locked eyes with Blaine and smirked, "Perfect."
"Please don't tell-"
"Yeah, how about no. HEY!" Azimio yelled, pushing through the group of athletes to head into the hall. He disappeared, leaving Karofsky and some of the other jocks behind, but even though he was out of the locker room, Blaine could hear him screaming about the baby at the top of his lungs. Hearing one of his bullies shout out about his pregnancy made Blaine feel intense fear and he lurched forward, throwing up on the floor, his hands pressed against the slush wet concrete as he emptied the contents of his stomach before him. As he continued to puke, everyone else left the room, including Karofsky, who kept looking back like he was sorry for what happened.
All Blaine could do was sob as he hunched forward in the pool of sickly sweet smelling syrupy ice and vomit.
Everybody knew now and there was nothing he could do.

"Blaine!"
Kurt ran into the locker room and coughed when the smell of bile and artificial fruit filled his nose. Scared, he looked around the room and shook his head when he spotted Rachel sitting in a pile of mess, her arms wrapped around her younger brother as the trembling boy wept and wept.
"Oh Blaine-"
"They know, Kurt." Rachel murmured, hugging Blaine a little tighter as the boy sobbed brokenly into her shoulder. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know," Kurt whispered. For the first time in the longest, for the first time since he'd packed up his old life and turned into this version of Kurt, he had no idea what he could do. For the first time in forever, he was truly terrified for himself as well as Blaine and as he dropped to his knees into the mess on the floor and pulled Blaine into his arms, he feared that he'd never ever figure out what to do.
Because what could he do?
A/N: Alright, what a chapter, am I right? I hope you liked it; I wrote it as a bit of a Valentine's gift to you all since I've been pretty bad at updating lately and you all deserved a faster update. So, here it is. Anyway, I hope you all had a good Valentine's Day. Mine was pretty boring because of the snow and lack of transportation. Oh, but it was also my birthday (yes, I'm a cupid baby HA) so I did get cake and stuff and that's all that matters right? Anyway, so I hope your Valentine's was nice and I hope you liked the update. Let me know what you thought and what you think will/should/etc. happen in the next chapter. I've gotta say, I have... umm, chapter 16 mostly written because I wrote it wayyyyy before I started writing this whole story so once I get 15 written, 16 will go up pretty fast. So here's to hoping 15 will be easy haha!
