Two Steps Back

Disclaimer: I'm not RIB, so I don't own Glee or any of the characters. If I did, I'd be rich and probably not writing fanfiction! This fic will dive into MPREG, so I'll be using my go-to MPREG explanation like I did in When We're Older aka the Reddin gene. The gene is based on the Reddin character from the 1994 movie Junior. You should really watch it if you like mpreg. It's a good movie, I promise (I also don't have any rights to it either!) I also don't really own anything mentioned in this except for the crazy storyline so... I OWN NOTHING. The title is inspired by a Paula Abdul song called Opposites Attract by the way.

Warning: Slight sexual situations in this chapter!

If there was one thing Kurt Hummel knew how to do, it was how to pick out the perfect Christmas present.

He'd been the best gift giver for years, going out of his way to find the best present possible for those who were lucky enough to get a gift from him. For the longest, he'd gone shopping for just his dad, making sure he picked out the most loving, thoughtful thing he could for the man who raised, loved, and cared for him. Then Carole and Finn came into the family and they were added to the list of who to buy for and not long after that, he added Quinn and Puck because they were the closest friends he had at the school (especially Quinn.) To him, buying presents was fun. He spent the whole day doing it, just browsing different shops until something popped out at him. Then he'd purchase the item, take it home, and wrap it extravagantly before he hid it underneath the Christmas tree.

Plus, shopping for someone else's holiday gift was kinda soothing. It reminded him of the days when he spent hours in various stores shopping for himself, way way back in the day when fashion was his number one and he didn't wear all dark colors and leather. He missed those days, sure, but now he regulated those shopping hours to just Christmas... and some birthdays.

However, never in his life did he imagine that he'd be faced with a particularly rough dilemma when it came to his favorite past time. He was the best gift giver in all of Lima... he just didn't know what the hell to buy for the love of his life.

::::::::::

"Have you thought about what you want for Christmas?"

Blaine glanced up from the book he was reading and raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend, "You don't even know if I even celebrate Christmas, you dork. Remember, I was raised by Jew."

Kurt paled instantly, cheeks flushing as his eyes widened. "Oh my god, I didn't even think- fuck, you don't celebrate Christmas, do you? What about Hanukkah? Can I get you a gift for that?" His question was met with laughter and he glared, spinning around to stare at his laughing lover. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing. You just... you got so flustered. It's cute." Blaine teased, setting his book aside to push himself into a better sitting position. "Don't freak out. I do celebrate Christmas. Rachel and my dad - Hiram obviously - are the only ones who are practicing Jews. Dad and I celebrate Christmas. We kinda blend the whole thing in our house. It's not really orthodox, but it's what we do. So yes, Kurt Hummel, I do celebrate Christmas. I was just playing with you."

"You're an ass."

"Takes one to know one."

Rolling his eyes, Kurt made his way across the room and climbed onto Blaine's bed, crawling towards his boyfriend. He paused in front of the other boy, leaning in close to press his lips to Blaine's before he plopped down and rested his cheek against Blaine's round stomach. "I'm gonna start my shopping soon so you need to tell me what you want. I've got an idea of what to get her but you have almost everything in the world-"

"I do not!"

"-so I don't know what to get you."

"Kurt," Blaine whined, tugging at the strands of multicolored hair that spilled over his belly. "You don't have to get me anything."

"Did you get me something?"

"I, uh-"

"Figures. I'm getting you a present, so shut your mouth before you dig yourself into a deeper hole. Now... what do you want for Christmas?"

"Umm... surprise me?"

"Abs!"

The younger boy laughed, flopping back against the nest of pillows he had piled behind him for his constantly aching back. "Seriously! I don't know what I want. I never know what I want for Christmas. Just... if you really insist on getting me something, just go with your gut. You know me better than anyone. Just get me something you think I'd like. Okay?"

"Fine."

::::::::::

It was dumb to agree with Blaine's terms (just get me something you think I'd like) but at that time, Kurt didn't know what to do. So he just ran with it. Now he regretted it... because standing in the mall empty-handed with nothing to show for a Christmas shopping trip annoyed the hell out of him.

There were already gifts wrapped and labeled under the tree at home for his parents, Finn, his friends, and even Blaine's family... but nothing for Blaine or their baby.

The baby wouldn't be too hard to buy for. There were tons of things one could buy for an infant. For an adult, however, was a completely different story. Not an adult, Kurt thought to himself as he browsed the Gap for socks, a teenager who's about to be a parent. He let his fingers trail over the fabric of a decent looking sweater before he cringed and walked clear out of the store, ignoring the watchful eyes of various patrons and employees alike who were staring at his overall look and the fact that he was still sporting a few bruises and cuts from the fight he had weeks earlier.

What can I get him? What does one get for their boyfriend? I've never been in this predicament. You don't have to buy shit for booty calls... unless you start dating them afterward.

He rolled his eyes and kept walking, peering into the windows of different stores before he finally decided to give up and leave. Outside, snow danced in the air, large heavy flakes landing on his uncovered hair, face, and jacket. He shivered as he dug his car keys out of his pocket and ran towards the Navigator, thankful that the road wasn't icy enough to cause him to fall and bust his ass in front of a bunch of strangers. When he finally climbed into his car and got it all started up and warm, he pulled his phone out and called his dad, grumbling as he sunk down in the driver's seat and watched the snow pile on his windshield.

"Hey bud, you on your way home?"

"Yeah. Soon. I just... what the fuck am I supposed to buy for Blaine? I've been here since this morning and I've got nothing!"

"Kurt, you know I can't tell you what to buy. I don't know Blaine all that well, not as well as you. You just have to go with your heart. Don't buy him something practical, that'll probably piss him off." The older man muttered something under his breath about his first wife and Kurt barked out a laugh, snickering when his dad shushed him. "It's true. Your mom almost kicked my ass one time because I got her a new toaster. Ours broke; we needed a new one so I got one. She thought it was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever given her. I almost got that toaster in the skull, you know? I thought she was gonna throw it at me."

"Well it was a toaster. Who buys someone a toaster for Christmas?"

"The same man who gets his wife perfume that smells like a geriatric nursing home ridden grandmother-"

"Dad!"

"I didn't smell it! The bottle looked fancy and I got it. She opened it, took a whiff, and made this face - I'll never forget that face. God, she looked so disgusted... and then she was like Burt, thank you. It's... lovely? Jesus, I thought I was gonna cry I was laughing so hard. She laughed too. Then we gave that perfume to your great aunt Mildred. She loved it by the way."

Kurt snorted, wiping away the tears from his eyes as he thought about his mom getting a disgusting bottle of perfume for Christmas. Now that he thought about it, he was pretty sure he smelled that damn perfume every single time he saw Mildred; she said his parents got her the stuff years and years ago and it was her favorite smell of all time. Jesus, no wonder mom hated it. That shit smells like cat piss. Scrunching his nose, Kurt flicked the windshield wipers on and watched as the accumulating snow got pushed out of the way to reveal a winter wonderland before him. "Fuck. It's pouring down the snow."

"Well then you should get off the phone and start driving before it gets worse. The weather station said it's gonna get bad tonight so come on home okay. Carole's started dinner and it'll be ready by the time you get here if you drive a little slower... and you better drive slow because the roads are bad. Channel five's already reporting accidents. Be careful, okay? I love you."

"Love you too, dad. I'll see you soon."

Once the call was ended, he backed out of the parking space and went on his merry way home, letting the sounds of the radio (which was playing Christmas music) soothe his frayed shopping-induced nerves as he drove. Snow blasted through the sky, limiting visibility all over the place, but despite the constant stream of white that blinded his sight, Kurt couldn't help but notice the blur of burgundy that filtered through his peripheral vision as he passed McKinley High.

Deep in his gut, he wasn't sure why he stopped, but when he spotted that flash of dark red and noticed someone standing beside of it, he eased his car off the side of the road and parked, lip worried between his teeth as he debated over whether or not to get out. Outside, the snow grew to blizzard-like proportions and he knew that if he didn't hurry up and get back on the road soon, he'd have a hell of a time getting his ass home. However, there was someone else stuck out there in the cold who was probably having car troubles and Kurt knew his way around a car... so maybe he could help? Taking a deep steadying breath, he opened his car door and stepped out into the freezing air, shivering as he spun around to face the stranger behind him who was also trying (and failing) to shield themselves from the hard hitting sleet.

"Car troubles?"

"Yeah. Something in it quit and I can't get it to start!"

"That sucks! Pretty shitty time to kick the bucket!"

"Tell me about it!" The person walked closer and once they were just a few feet away, Kurt found himself staring face-to-face with none other than Dave Karofsky. "Hummel?"

"The one and only. Figures it'd be you. At least it's not one of your shithead friends this time. I'm really not feeling like getting my ass kicked and left for dead in the snow."

Dave shifted on his feet, head ducking for just a second before he glanced back up at Kurt. "I'm really sorry about that, you know? I didn't even know Z was gonna pull that shit. I told him to leave you and the new kid alone; he's just being an ass. You didn't deserve that."

"I haven't deserved half the shit I've dealt with, but what's done is done." Kurt mumbled, shrugging his shoulders as he tightened his grip where his arms were crossed over his chest. His leather jacket barely blocked the harsh winter wind from freezing his nipples off and he scowled, stepping closer to Karofsky's car. "So... a Ford Explorer? What year?"

"It's a 2000. It's my mom's old car. It's been acting up for the last few weeks and just quit today." Around them the snow picked up, the wind whipping at their bodies as icy barbs smacked their bare faces. Kurt hunched down, trying to get a closer look at the vehicle before him, but it was too hard to see - the white precipitation was difficult to look through. Frowning, he glanced back up at his former tormentor and nodded his head back towards the still running Navigator.

"C'mon. I'll take you home before this storm gets too bad. I can have my dad come out here and tow this back to our shop when the weather lets up if you don't care."

"Jesus, Hummel, you're a life saver. Can I get my stuff out of the car?"

"Yeah sure." Kurt waited while Dave gathered several shopping bags from his Explorer and the two of them carried the packages to the other SUV, piling everything inside before Dave hopped into the passenger seat and Kurt took his place back in the driver's position, cranking up the heat so they could warm their chilled bones. "It's fucking cold out there."

"Tell me about it. I've been out there for over twenty minutes trying to get someone on the phone."

"No one answered?"

"Nah. Dad's probably at work and my mom's out of town visiting one of her friends. I tried both of their phones but no one's answering."

"Well, then you're lucky I found you."

Beside him, Dave sighed, linking his fingers together as he sat his hands in his lap. "Yeah. I guess I am."

For the next few moments, they drove on in silence. The ride was slow, the snow was too fast building to see through so Kurt drove cautiously. However, despite their crazy history, the fact that they were stuck in such a small space together wasn't too bad. Sure, Kurt felt a little on edge in the beginning but the longer he sat there, the more he wondered why the usually angry, bitter guy who used to bully him was being so quiet. "David?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you... okay?"

"I don't- what do you mean?"

"Are you okay? Like... with everything? I know we don't talk or anything and you've gotten pretty lax on doing the stupid shit your friends do, but... is it because of- you know? Have you told anyone?"

For a second, the burly teen sucked in a sharp breath and then he shakily exhaled, sniffling as he shook his head rapidly. "I haven't told anyone. I can't. I'm not ready."

Kurt slowed the car, glancing over at the now emotional guy beside of him. He chewed his lip, closing his eyes for a second. "David-"

"You... you're so brave, Kurt. You and Blaine. You guys are what I want to be - out and proud and everything. But I can't. Do you know what would happen to me if I came out? The guys would make my life a living hell, like with what they do to you and Anderson-Berry. I wouldn't be able to deal with that. I'm not strong like you. I wouldn't be able to handle that, the bullying and all that shit. For the longest, I could barely watch them go after you and when I did it... when I did it, it was because I hated you. Because you were what I wanted to be. I was mad - mad at you and mad at them because I wanted to be like you, be free and out, and yet if I was, I'd be stuck in that same position."

"I-"

"And then you changed, Kurt. You went from this one guy to a completely different person and you came back angrier and it was my fault-"

"It wasn't just you-"

"-and I hated myself for it. Then the new kid came and the guys found a whole new person to go after and you have to believe me when I say that I never ever wanted what happened to Blaine to happen. He didn't deserve that and neither did you."

"I know." The clicking of the turn signal filled the silence in the air when both teens quit talking. Kurt turned down the road that Karofsky directed him to and soon they were edging closer to his house. Outside, the small one-story home was tastefully decorated for the holiday and Kurt wondered if his former bully's home life was just as good as his own or if things were tense at his place like they were for many a struggling gay teenager. "Dave, you know if you ever want to talk, Blaine and I are here to listen. We've been through things, especially Blaine, and if you just want someone to just listen, we can help."

The sounds of sniffling answered him and he chewed harder on his lip, watching as Karofsky opened up the passenger door and climbed out of the vehicle, slamming it shut before he opened up the back and began digging his bags out. It took him a minute or two to gather everything up, but once his hands were full, he looked up at Kurt with tear-filled green eyes. "That means a lot to me, Hummel. Thanks... you know, for the ride and uh- everything." With one final look, he shut the door with his hip and wandered through the snow to his house. Kurt waited until the guy was safely inside before he pulled away from the curb and headed on home, chest tight and stomach churning as he found himself pitying the guy he just drove home.

Never in a million years had he ever imagined feeling sorry for someone like Dave Karofsky, not after all the shit that guy pulled with him over the years. However, after seeing the anguish in the other guy's eyes, he couldn't help but feel bad for the obvious struggle David was going through.

::::::::::

"Dad! I'm home!" Kurt called as he slammed the front door shut and shrugged out of his jacket. He kicked his snow covered boots off where everyone else's shoes seemed to be, pausing when he spotted a familiar pair of boat shoes sitting in the spot where he usually left his boots. "Blaine? Honey, are you here?"

"In the living room," his boyfriend's voice called out and Kurt sped up his motions, carelessly tossing the rest of his snow-wet stuff down on the floor before he rushed into the living room and stopped in the doorway. Blaine was sitting on the floor in front of the Christmas tree, sneakily looking at the pile of presents, one hand on his swollen stomach while the other slowly pushed a rogue present out of the way. His bright eyes landed on Kurt with a guilty look and the rainbow haired boy couldn't help but smirk.

"Snooping?"

"No. Just admiring the wrap job a certain someone did. Nicely done, by the way. You should take up professional wrapping-"

"And my stage name would be?"

"Not that kind of rapping," Blaine snorted, rolling his eyes as he pushed himself to stand up. Grinning, he made his way across the room and stood up on his tip-toes to kiss Kurt's forehead, dropping back down to press another kiss to his lover's mouth. "I was talking about wrapping gifts, dummy." He grumbled as he pulled away. "And you're freezing. Your face is ice cold."

"Well it is snowing out there."

"But you were in the car?"

"I had to make a pit stop and then I came straight here... and had a smoke before I came in. I'm surprised you don't smell it on me."

"Oh, I do, but I wasn't gonna say anything. So what kind of pit stop did you make? Did you have to save a kitten from a tree? Was the city in peril? Did you-"

"Can we talk about it upstairs?" His eyes flicked towards the kitchen where he could hear the sounds of his dad and Carole laughing away at something. Honestly, he wasn't too bothered with talking about the whole Karofsky deal downstairs while they were in the other room, but one could never tell with parents. They did like to snoop. Sighing, he took Blaine's hand in his own and waited until the other boy nodded his agreement before they went upstairs, shutting Kurt's door behind them before they climbed on the bed. Blaine settled down immediately, as he usually did whenever he was near a bed and within seconds, Kurt was laying down beside him, hand instantly drawn to his boyfriend's stomach where it would rest until Blaine decided to move around or get up.

"So what happened? It's gotta be something serious since we're hiding upstairs."

"I ran into Karofsky today-"

"Did he do something? He's been so strange lately, not like the other guys-"

"I think he's having a hard time," Kurt whispered, fingers brushing Blaine's belly button (which was adorably beginning to pop out - Blaine thought it looked like one of those turkey thermometers; the day it completely pops out is when I'm done cooking, he joked and Kurt couldn't help but roll his eyes.) "I know you saw him at Scandals and everything so you know that he's gay and all, but I've known for a really, really long time."

"Yeah, you told me about when he... kissed you." Blaine placed his hand over Kurt's and squeezed the other boy's fingers, staring at him through the bleak lighting in the room. The whistle of the heater blowing was the only sound around them minus their soft breathing. "Is he okay? He's not struggling, is he?"

"I don't know. He didn't say much about his home life, but I know he's having a hard time with the school and the guys he's friends with. He said something about feeling bad for what happened to us and that he wouldn't be able to take that if it ever happened to him so..." Kurt trailed off, snuggling closer to Blaine as he rested his head against his lover's shoulder. "If he can last the rest of this year, he should be okay, but I don't know how long this has gone on. He hated me for the longest time then backed off after he kissed me and then you came and he backed down even more. I have no idea what he's gonna do next, you know?"

"I know. When I first met him, he scared the hell out of me, but he's really not all that bad. He's tried to call his friends off of me plenty of times and he helped me that, umm- that one night I was looking for you. He's a pretty decent guy when it comes down to it. Blinded by jealousy and stupid with hate sometimes, but it seems like he knows what he did wrong now."

Beside him, Kurt sucked in a deep breath, a hitch catching near the end. "Ugh. I don't know why I'm putting so much thought into this. Dave Karofsky was one of the main people who made my life a living hell in the beginning. He turned me into... into this. I don't know why I feel this way towards him, like I should feel sorry for him."

Blaine smiled sadly, leaning up on his elbows to lean over his boyfriend. His long fingers brushed bits of Kurt's still damp blue hair from his forehead and he kissed the tip of his nose, smiling wider when Kurt chuckled at the contact. "It's because you care so damn much. Too damn much sometimes. But I love that about you. You have one of the biggest hearts and it's beautiful." He kissed Kurt slowly, pulling back with wet eyes. "And I wish you would quit saying that about yourself... that someone turned you into something bad. You're not bad. Those guys hurt you. You got stronger and there's nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with you-"

"Blaine, I'm not-"

"You're gorgeous, amazing, loving, strong, brave... god, you're everything to me, you know that, right? I would never change you for anything and I hope you realize that I love you just the way you are."

"Like that lame song?"

"Hey now, I like that song thank you very much. But yes, just like the song."

Kurt rolled his eyes, amused by his boyfriend's dorky thoughts. Smiling, he leaned up and captured Blaine's lips with his own, gently tugging his lover to straddle his hips as they began to make out in the privacy of his bedroom. For several (very hot) moments, they stayed curled against each other, their lips moving as they tasted one another. The little moans Blaine was making went straight to Kurt's crotch and he squirmed a bit under his boyfriend's body; Blaine, however, seemed to be lost in the moment, body rocking against Kurt's as he tangled his hands in Kurt's thick hair.

"God, babe-"

"Kurt, don't stop."

"Are you sure?"

Blaine answered him by tugging him back to his mouth, lips hungrily mouthing against Kurt's as he ground down a little harder on his boyfriend's cock. Kurt moaned, hands flying up to grasp at the back of Blaine's sweatshirt, his fingers gripping the fabric tightly as he felt his own orgasm begin to build rapidly within him. Blaine was rocking against him so fucking shamelessly now, the heavy feeling of his body against Kurt's was one of the best feelings in the world and before Kurt knew it, he was coming in his pants, gasping against Blaine's lips as his orgasm smashed into him unexpectedly. While he was still coming down, Blaine was panting against his neck, breathy whines puffing along Kurt's ear as he too struggled to reach release.

"I've got you, baby." Kurt whispered after he was finally able to form complete thoughts and sentences again, gently cupping one hand behind Blaine's neck while the other wrapped around his back. Smoothly, he flipped Blaine over, back against the mattress, and he began to tug at his boyfriend's pants, pulling them as well as Blaine's briefs down to his knees before he quickly knelt down and took Blaine's hardened cock into his mouth. Just a few seconds later, Blaine was coming down his throat, screams of ecstasy muffled by his own hand as he stifled his noises so that the rest of the household wouldn't hear. Once he was relaxed and quiet, Kurt pushed himself up and crawled over his lover, kissing him deeply before he pulled away and rested his sweaty forehead against Blaine's. "God, I love you."

"I love you too."

"That was fucking fantastic."

"Yeah... it was."

Smirking, Kurt carefully pulled Blaine's pants back up, ignoring his own sticky discomfort in his own pants before he fell back down beside him, throwing his arm over Blaine's waist to rest against his belly. They spent several quiet minutes just laying there catching their breath before Blaine started to hum, his soothing voice filling the otherwise silent air.

"Is that Pink?" Kurt asked, propping himself up on his elbow to look down at his best friend. Blaine's eyes were shut, his cheeks still flushed and dewy from sex, and he looked absolutely beautiful. How did I get so lucky?

"Yeah. It's Pink."

"Why are you humming that? Song stuck in your head?"

"Nah. I was just thinking about what you said earlier... about yourself."

"Blaine-"

"You do know I think you're perfect. Fucking perfect, okay?" His amber eyes blinked open, lashes fluttering as he got used to the dim lighting of the room. "I love you. All of you and I just hope you know that."

"God, I love everything about you."

"As I do you." Humming once more, Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt's neck and tugged him back down into a laying position, curling his body around his boyfriend's as he closed his eyes. Kurt maneuvered himself to his usual (favorite) way to lay, one hand threading through Blaine's hair while the other stroked Blaine's tummy. The baby kicked softly against his palm and Blaine's hums tapered off after a while, the boy succumbing to the sleep he oh-so loved. It was only after he started to snore against Kurt that the other boy finally realized what he wanted to get his lover for Christmas.

He was going to get the perfect gift after all.

::::::::::

"Do you think he'll like it?"

"I think he'll love it... or at least I hope he will."

Rachel smiled at her brother as he wiped the rest of the remaining gel from his belly and pulled down his sweater. The technician who did his ultrasound slipped back into the room after she knocked and with a smile, she gave him a package of photos, wishing him and Rachel a happy holiday before she walked them back down the hall towards the exit. Once she was gone, the siblings paid at the front desk and headed back out into the cold, wintry morning. The packet in Blaine's hands fluttered in the wind and he smiled at the thought of what was inside. The photos he had printed that morning were going to be the perfect Christmas gift and he was so excited to give them to his family. There were copies for his dads and for Kurt's family... and for Kurt himself, there were special photos that only he'd get.

That wasn't the only thing Blaine was going to get his boyfriend though.

It was hard to find the perfect present for Kurt, but Blaine decided to go with a bunch of different things; things that he knew Kurt loved and would enjoy if he were given them as gifts. Already hidden in his bedroom were a few packs of cigarettes (of which he hated to buy, but he was able to get Puck to pick up some for him - the other guy thought it was super sweet and teased Blaine like crazy, but whatever.) Also there was a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory that Blaine was sure Kurt would love as the other boy adored everything and anything that had to do with cheesecake. Other than that, he was getting a few shirts and a bottle of cologne that Blaine saw him admiring online one day and that was it. It took most of Blaine's savings to get everyone's presents this year, but after the last few months of love, support, and help he'd been given, he was glad to spend all of his money on the people he loved.

Now he only hoped they loved their gifts.

::::::::::

Kurt's eyes watered, his lip caught between his teeth as he stared at the massive amount of gifts that were spread before him. Everything Blaine got him was perfect. He got his favorite brand of smokes, some really nice shirts, a gift card to the best place ever, and he even got Kurt that bottle of cologne he'd been thinking of buying for the last few months. But despite all those wonderful things, there was something even more special sitting on his lap, beautifully displayed in front of him.

"She's perfect."

"I know. She was so good that day. She let us take really good pictures of her - and look! She totally has your mouth! That is your mouth, Kurt!"

The mouth being spoke of curled upward in a smile as Kurt trailed his fingers over the framed photograph of his unborn daughter. It was a 3D ultrasound that showed everything, every little facial feature, smirk and smile that their daughter made was photographed and just being able to truly look at her made Kurt's heart swell. He blinked back tears at the sight of the baby's little nose and he wondered exactly whose nose it was. It didn't look like his (which looked like his mom's) and it didn't look like Blaine's, so he wondered if perhaps it was a little bit like Blaine's late mother's or maybe even Burt's. Nonetheless, the photos that were tastefully pictured in the gray and white polka-dotted frame were the most adorable things Kurt had ever seen and he adored them. Much like he adored his amazingly thoughtful boyfriend.

"I love you so much." Still beaming, he kissed Blaine fully before he pulled back and ducked his head, cheeks reddening in embarrassment. "You're gonna hate your gift. It's not as-"

"I told you that you didn't have to get me anything, silly. But whatever you got me, I'm sure I'll love it because I love you."

"How is it that you always know what to say to calm me down?"

"Hmm, I dunno. Maybe it's because I know you?" Blaine teased, resting his hand atop his pregnant belly as he watched Kurt dig behind the pile of presents under the Christmas tree. Carols played softly in the background, adding to the ambiance that was their own private Christmas celebration. Burt and Carole were out at a hospital holiday party and Finn was out with Rachel for the night, so they had the whole house to themselves, which was incredibly appreciated. They decided to exchange gifts after dinner, which was also lovely (since Kurt prepared a delicious Christmas inspired feast) and not long after, they settled down in front of the tree with hot cocoa and cookies before their present exchange. Kurt's gifts were open; now it was Blaine's turn and he was very excited.

"Okay, so... here." Kurt thrust his hand out, eyes not looking at Blaine's reaction in the slightest. His stomach swirled in nervousness, especially since he only had one present to give and had to compete with the several Blaine got him. However, even though he only had one wrapped package to hand his boyfriend, it was still something very expensive and he hoped Blaine liked it.

If he would've looked up, he would've seen the tears immediately begin to shimmer in Blaine's eyes as he took the small, expertly wrapped gift into his hands. "Oh, Kurt." Hands shaking, he lowered the box to rest against his leg, fingers twitching as he debated on how to exactly open the package. It was obvious what it was; boxes that small were usually jewelry and Blaine's heart pounded, booming in his chest so loud that it clogged up his ears with its sound. It's a ring. It's gotta be a ring. Oh my god. "Kurt, you didn't-"

"Open it."

Carefully, Blaine slipped the perfectly tied bow off the box and gently tore the paper away from it, eyes watering even more when he spotted the black ring box. "Kurt, what's-"

"Honey, just... open it."

Blaine did as he was told, using his quaking hands to pop the case open, his mouth falling open as he took in the beautiful sterling ring. The whole ring was silver with a black stripe running through the middle of it. However, there was a small break in the stripe as there were three small sparkling black diamonds within it, gleaming in the bright lights of the Christmas tree. Blaine gaped at it, the tears in his eyes now falling freely as he stared at the precious jewelry in his hands. A hiccup squeaked from his throat as he began to laugh, smiling wide as he looked up at his boyfriend. Kurt was staring at him, eyes wet too as he took in Blaine's reaction.

"It's not an engagement ring," the other boy whispered, eyes flickering with something strange as he spoke the words. Blaine nodded, not caring what the hell it was; he was so in love with the boy in front of him that Kurt could've given him a mound of dirt for Christmas and he wouldn't care. Though this ring was really, really nice. "It's a promise-"

"Kurt-"

"It's a promise from me to you that I'll always love you and that I'll always be there for you. I know people say all that stupid shit about high school relationships not lasting and that we're too young to know what love is, but screw them. I know what I want and who I love and that's you, Blaine. I love you and our daughter and I promise you - I promise that I'll always be there for both of you as long as you'll have me. I want all of this with you, Blaine. I want the future, the nice house, the kids, the whole fucking she-bang." He reached out, stroking his thumbs along Blaine's wet cheeks, leaning in close to kiss the tears away. "I promise you. You're my world, Blaine. My world."

"And you're mine," Blaine hiccuped out, nuzzling his face against Kurt's as he brought his hands up to grip Kurt's wrists. They sat there like that for a little while, smiling, staring, and laughing with each other, exchanging a kiss or two here and there before Kurt finally sat back and took the ring box off of Blaine's leg. He slipped the ring from the box and took Blaine's hand, sliding the perfectly fitting ring onto Blaine's finger.

"Perfect."

"God, Kurt-"

Smiling shyly, the older boy took Blaine's hand and lifted it, kissing the spot where the ring sat. His blue eyes glittered in the lights and Blaine's heart swelled with even more love, though he was sure that wasn't even possible with how hard he'd fallen for the boy before. "I promise to take care of you and love you. I promise to make sure she's well taken care of and loved and that no matter what, we'll always be there for her, that I'll always be there for you. I love you both so much and I want you to know that."

"I- we love you too." Blaine whispered, taking Kurt's other hand to press against his stomach where the baby was dancing up a storm. Kurt laughed at the contact and Blaine mimicked the action, scooting across the floor to inch closer to his boyfriend. "This is hands down the best Christmas ever."

"It is."

"Merry Christmas, Kurt."

"Merry Christmas, Blaine. I love you."

With the sounds of holiday music tinkling in the background, the young couple locked lips, molding their bodies together as they celebrated their love and the increasing feelings that were brought on by the holiday season. When Burt and Carole came home hours later and found them both fast asleep in front of the Christmas tree, wrapping paper, cookies, and empty mugs of cocoa scattered around them, they rolled their eyes and left the boys to themselves, smiling as they crept upstairs to the comfort of their bedroom where they could talk about their kids in private.

A/N: I think that was the fluffiest chapter of anything I've ever written. Honestly lol. Anyway, timeline wise, Blaine's almost nine months pregnant now so things will be happening. The end of this chapter takes place a few days before Christmas and Blaine's about 31 weeks along now. Next up will be baby name discussions, Braxton Hicks, and maybe a baby shower? Oh, and someone's going back to school! Whaaat?! Am I forgetting anything that you'd like to see? Or is that everything so far? Anyway, hope you liked the chapter!
