Title: New Blood of a Lost Age
A Halo/HTTYD Crossover
Hey all, sorry 'bout the delay. The past month's emotions wild ride really caught up with me and I didn't feel like writing but I'm back now and ready to uh... err... hm. I don't remember what I was gonna do... Oh yeah, writet the chapter, sorry about that. Glenn Miller kind of distracted me there. So don't worry I've got lots of ideas and even a spin off idea (my secret) in my magic bag of tricks and fairy dust.
Enjoy
"Odin, tha' Lasky bloke's a genius" Stoick spoke quietly as he stepped into the centre of Berk where a crowd of Vikings stood in a circle around Hiccup and Toothless. They were waving their arms around happily and smiling at the pair, asking, many questions all at once. Stoick could see that Hiccup was having trouble being heard over the villagers, so he pushed his way past them to the centre of the circle where his son was stood, raising his voice to be heard. "Now, I know you lot have questions, an' I do too. But we gotta let Hiccup and Toothless get some much needed res'. After, we'll get a meetin' in the great hall together and find out more about that' thing in the seas."
The villagers nodded and slowly dissipated back to their homes. Hiccup looked up to Stoick, thanking him, before walking quietly off towards their house with Toothless following.
"So, as you can see, the wiring for three of the four power generators has been cleanly sliced through. Which means -" the lead scientist was cut off by Lasky.
"That elite saboteur did more damage than we thought."
"Exactly, and because we only got to restart the generators about ten minutes ago we wouldn't notice until we them powered up. The fourth generator caught fire in an unrelated incident a few hours before, the intruder must've seen this and thought better than to waste time. This won't be much of a problem for now as there is some spare cabling but it's pretty old so we're having it safety tested. It'll take two hours to complete." The lead scientist took his slightly too large glasses off, removed a hanky from his lab coat pocket and cleaned his glasses before replacing them in their previous position.
"Isn't there anything else? Have you checked the store cupboard?" Lasky was, at this point of course, quite angry. His primary mission was to get everyone home in the safest way possible, he had distracted himself too much with the Viking child and his dragon that he'd forgotten his duties as captain. With the threat of the Covenant emerging above their heads and a village of Vikings all but lost to time poking their noses into his business really wore him thin. The thing he looked forward to most was a proper meal instead of field rations, except while the generators were out the galleys could not prepare any food.
"Unfortunately captain it appears the fire from generator four followed a trail of spilt oil back into the stores which then caught fire. Everything in there was lost which was the spare cables and some brooms. The mess has been cleared and we should be ready to restart the generators in ten hours."
A hologram of Cortana appeared on a pedestal nearby. "Captain, I've been looking through the sensor logs for the ship over the past few days and they recorded movement and the heartbeat of a binary vascular system. It appears the stowaway was hiding in one of the bilges and somehow managed to sneak aboard before we left the correct timezone. My theory is that he probably wasn't acting alone if he managed to infiltrate that deep into what is supposed to be a secure area, and if he was, he didn't make that decision by himself."
Lasky looked at her. "So, you are saying that the Sangheili Government is behind all this?"
"No" Cortana replied. "But we'd better keep our eyes and ears open incase there are more. The sooner we can get back to our time, the sooner we can warn ONI."
Lasky nodded and walked out of the generator bay. It was lucky that Elite didn't make it to the engine room.
Covenant Destroyer Light Ascendancy:
"Shipmaster, our long range scanners have detected a vessel not of this time on the far side of the planet. It registers as UNSC and appears to have crashed into the ocean and is without power." A Zealot kneeled before a figure in pearly white armour.
"Excellent, we have them pinned. When will our next orbit of this wretched planet be complete?" It asked, an outside listener would just be able to detect a light hint of inquisitiveness in its voice, but all of the crew on board knew better than to ask. Their shipmaster was an excellent strategist and had an almost unparalleled experience of every parameter of the battlefield, but previous experiences had left him scarred for life and his temper short.
"Eight Earth hours, excellency" the Zealot stayed with his head bowed, waiting for his master's instructions.
"When we get round there, they will be no more."
"Excellency, we have also found traces of movement onto a local island, they appear to be assembling a fortress." The Zealot held his breath, unsure of whether he was going to be congratulated or decapitated for this bearing of bad news.
The seated figure stayed silenced for a moment. "Then they wish to distract us from their crippled vessel. We will have troop transports prepped and ready with fully equipped soldiers in six hours, when we arrive they will depart from the ship and take care of the humans on the island while this vessel moves into attack mode. You." he gestured to an Elite Minor who was operating the navigation desk. "Bring up a holographic map of the area around the fallen human vessel." He complied and a three dimensional image appeared in front of the two. The figure studied the map closely. "There appears to be a barbarian tribe not too far from the vessel, perhaps they have made contact. We may be able to exploit that by attacking the tribe, the humans on the island will be too preoccupied saving themselves and their ancestors that they will not be able to hold back a full assault. Then, we can erase Earth from history. Oh yes, that'll do nicely."
Rtas 'Vadum gave a half jawed smile to himself as he sat back in the Shipmaster's chair, it had been so long since he had entered a battle. Even though he'd switched his assault carrier for a smaller destroyer, he was glad he'd volunteered for the Covenant's experiment.
Well, that was a real mind twister wasn't it? What is Rtas doing here? Are the Elites not as good allies as we previously thought? You'll just have to wait! Apologies to all of those die hard HTTYD fans out there who were hoping for more of the Vikings.
Until the Next Time...
