Title: New Blood of a Lost Age

A Halo/HTTYD Crossover

Okay okay my most humble apologies for the tardiness of my updates I've just been so busy. Also, exam season will be coming up soon so I'll need to focus on that first and this sometime after. BUT, I've not given up on this story so never lose hope in it!

Also a big thanks to those new story followers I've had since my last update.

On the horizon, the Master Chief could make out the shapes of over a dozen phantom drop ships and they were all flying towards the Viking island of Berk. He checked the clips of his trusty Battle Rifle and the Rocket Launcher on his back. Cortana's voice sounded through his helmet.

"Okay, so, we're on the south side of the island where the village is. We've got Gauss turrets up on the hill to keep the Banshees away from the village as much as possible, there is a wall of sandbags with machine gun turrets facing towards the docks which is where our intelligence suggests they're going to come up from. Meanwhile, the station on the other side of the island has several sniper positions covering our rear and there is a newly cut track through the forest for our vehicles. The Indigo Terra has several squads of marines and all ten Sabres are ready and manned by Spartan Blue Jay squad and the new experimental Grizzlies will be ready in twenty minutes. Sound like a plan?" Cortana inquired.

"It's been a great plan ever since Lasky and I came up with it about ten minutes ago." replied the Chief, amused that Cortana had forgotten.

Cortana replied with a stern voice. "There's nothing wrong with going over a plan."

"Whatever."

Lasky's voice came over the intercom. "Right everyone, the Covenant are about to make their first move. Gauss turrets, Cortana will give you a call sign for the radio, you are key to safeguarding Elephant squad in the Viking village below, keep the Banshees off of them or we're in serious trouble. A squad of Ghosts is expected to make its way around the island towards Elephant squad on a make shift hit and run attack, these Ghosts will be collectively known as Mouse. Chief, stay with Elephant squad and try not to make a mess of the village there. We'll send over supplies as you need them, but we're still working on our power systems which should be ready in about twenty minutes, I'll leave you in charge of ground forces. Take no prisoners, good luck. Lasky out."

Cortana's voice sounded through Chief's helmet and the radios of all the ground forces simultaneously. "Alright, all units in position. I'm calling the Gauss turrets Hotel Mike. The station on the island has been fortified and we'll use the Viking hall as storage and there's a Mantis for you, Chief."

The Chief walked over to Stoick the Vast, who was talking with Gobber and Hiccup. Some of the hardiest Vikings with attitudes stronger than iron ha decided to take up arms but most of the villagers who weren't so keen had been sent into the forest to lay low. "They're gonna be comin' up from the docks so we need some o' the Vikings who can throw spears or use crossbows to hold 'em off. Gobber, you take some men and use your hammers, swords an' shields to keep 'em away from our homes." He turned to Hiccup. "Son, I need you and the teenagers to help out where you can. Keep an eye on the villagers in the woods too. You an' Toothless make some dives on 'em when they come in."

Hiccup gave a proud look. "Sure dad."

Stoick smiled. "Make me proud, son." At that moment a Spartan jogged over and saluted them both.

"Sir, I'm Spartan Hofferson, I've been asked to give you these." She handed them each an odd shaped device. "Clip them over your ear." She went through the motion of clipping the small, tactile devices to their ears. Suddenly, Hiccup and Stoick could both hear other people's voices in their ears.

"Odin, what is this magic?" Stoick asked.

"It's a secret. But if you need to talk to me or the Chief, then just talk, we'll hear you." Spartan Hofferson was about to turn and walk off when Hiccup grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks.

"What did you say your name was?" He asked.

"Spartan Hofferson, sirs. Commander of UNSC India Juliet unit." Then, she turned and walked off. Hiccup looked to his father, who was dumbstruck.

"Was that -" Hiccup started his sentence, but couldn't find the words to finish it.

"I think so, son." Stoick replied. Before any more thoughts could pass through their heads, a voice spoke over the background chatter in their ears.

"Island ops this is UNSC Indigo Terra, Phantoms have touched down on the docks and multiple squads have exited. Banshee ETA is three minutes."

Spartan Hofferson's voice sounded in their ears. "Everyone, this is it. Defend the village at all costs. Don't let the Covenant regroup for more attacks and stay focused on a target until you get it. Good luck all. Let the battle commence."

Saso 'Fimag is the Elite Major of his squad, which consisted of ten Grunts, five Jackal snipers and two Elite Minors. Their Phantom, along with others, was about to touch down on the pathetic Viking dockside where he and his squad would fight their way into the village and destroy it.

He was unsure as to the logic behind the Shipmaster's orders to wipe out an early humanity, but it wasn't his place to say, either. He stood up from his position at the rear of the ship and called the stand to command. His warriors finished their conversations, cleaning their armour and doing their duties and stood in line with their weapons held in the present position. He walked through the middle of his troops and spoke as he went.

"We do not know exactly how primitive these humans are, but we do know that they're being assisted by a crashed UNSC experiment. We are also unsure what they were testing, as our spy was caught and eliminated. Do not expect an easy fight. Those humans, primitive they may be, are violent, strong and will not give up until their home is safe. As you heard, they also have a unique ally which we have not come across before. The primitive humans possess the ability to control large flying beasts similar to what you may find on Sangheilios. Don't let your guard down and make sure that you keep them off, this is where our Fuel Rods will be useful. Snipers, find some ground and take a shot at their heads when you can, you're shooting uphill this time so make sure you find a covered spot, even better if you can find one of their buildings to use. The UNSC has also bulked up defences, so when we move up the village we will need to hit them hard. After the main target has been finished, we are to provide cover fire for our troops at the UNSC station there. It is also rumoured that... that the Demon will be on the field." This got the attention of all the Grunts and Jackals. Even the Elite Minor's faces distorted at the hearing of that name. Whispers and rumours about what monstrosities the Demon had conducted on their comrades were often talked about in the mess hall, but seldom got to the higher ranking officials, who believed it was useful for getting the troops to work harder.

"I don't want to dishonour myself by saying this, but I believe I have no choice. Do not engage him. I've seen his destruction first hand and if you want to live through this, pray to the gods that you don't find yourself in his line of fire." With that, he finished his speech and the doors on the Phantom opened to reveal the docks of the human settlement. All the troops ran at the command and jumped out of the doors and into the fight.

Ha ha I'm so evil at holding back on the action, but at least you got a sort of idea about what's going to happen in the next chapter. Sorry for the lateness of my update (again). Please review as it keeps my spirits up to know people are interested and makes the storyline stronger too.

Until the Next Time...
