Mikau: Hi everyone! I've missed you! For some reason, I've been having a hard time finding the time to write and post lately. Sorry that the updates have been a bit more spaced out than usual. In other news, tomorrow (March 10th) is my birthday! So make sure you review, okay? Hahaha. Thanks so much to reviewers from last chapter: MeitanteiRose, patternleap, and Bunnyz-chan. I like this short a lot. It keeps poking at me to expand it into an actual fic, so you may see it again someday. Let me know what you think!
Disclaimer: If I owned it, Kaito would be a Pisces. He has much more of a Gemini/Cancer cusp personality, though, so I guess it's a good thing Aoyama-sensei's the one who owns DC/MK.
…
Really? On a Yacht?
"Come on. I've always wanted to reenact that one scene from Titanic," Kaito tittered.
"Seriously?" Hakuba sighed, following his friend to the bow of the ship. "And why do I need to be present for this spectacle?"
"I need you to hold on to my waist while I spread my arms out," Kaito replied in a tone of voice that implied the answer to that question had been obvious.
"Seriously, Kuroba?" the detective reiterated.
"Don't start with your fuddy-duddy attitude. We came here to have fun, so we're going to have fun. I won't let you spoil this for us," Kaito snorted.
"Actually, we came here as teenage detective and guest for some ridiculous television special. I'm here to trounce Hattori Heiji, and you're on board this ship because Aoko-kun declined my invitation." Hakuba sighed again.
"Well. Glad to know I was your first choice, bestest-best buddy o' mine," Kaito grumbled before taking on a more consoling tone. "Don't take the rejection too hard, Hakuba. She'll come around eventually."
"No, Kuroba, I believe she'll stay stuck on you forever. It figures you'd remain my biggest hurdle to clear even though you're gayer than a day in May." The detective brushed a hand through his hair and gave another sigh of resignation.
"Hey. I'm not that gay," Kaito pouted, elbowing his friend in the ribs. "So I like dressing up in women's clothes and seducing men. Is that so wrong?"
Saguru laughed, finally cracking a smile. "Yes, Kuroba. On so many different levels."
"What's wrong with that? I look good in ladies' lingerie."
"I know nothing about that." Hakuba raised his hands, indicating that he would not be touching that subject.
"Would you like me to educate you later tonight?" Kaito purred.
Saguru raised an eyebrow at his best friend.
"Joking. Sooo joking. You're totally not my type," Kaito chuckled, giving his companion a playful nudge with his shoulder.
"Oh? What's wrong with me?" Saguru was surprised to find that that stung a bit.
Kaito came to a stop and looked intently at his friend. "Seriously?"
"Seriously," Saguru confirmed with only a moment of hesitation.
"Okay." Kaito shrugged. "Rather than not being my type, I'd have to say that you're exactly the kind of guy I'd fall head over heels for if I let myself. Hakuba, you're one of my closest friends, and if things didn't work out, it'd be really messy. I don't want to gamble with our friendship like that. Besides, you're straighter than a board. Totally not worth the time and heartache."
"What? Not confident in your ability to seduce me into batting for the other team?" Saguru teased.
"Is that a challenge?" Kaito smirked, turning and walking once again. "Come on. Titanic time."
Saguru smiled, thinking, "If anyone could do it, it'd be you."
