Title: New Blood of a Lost Age

A Halo/HTTYD Crossover

So I'm continuing on with the story. It's drawing to a close soon but there's still more to go. It's the penultimate chapter however, so I'd just like to thank you all for being there for me. But I'm not done yet.

And to prove it.

"There they are!" Hiccup shouted to Toothless as he saw the purple shapes moving slowly along the tracks in Berk's woods. There were already two flaming carcasses of what used to be enemy tanks that ran into the base their friends had set up less than a week ago.

Toothless looked over in the direction Hiccup pointed, then shot down into a dive. They had to act fast as the tanks were nearly on top of Berk. The first one didn't know what hit it. Toothless let out a powerful plasma blast that erupted on the outside of the tank and melted through the armour, burning the flesh of the operator as it went.

The second tank, still stunned by what had just happened suffered in much the same way as the first. However, the turret gunner began firing wildly into the air, clearly panicked. His gun was silenced quickly too.

However, in the commotion, Hiccup had forgotten that there was another tank still about. He was brought out of his thoughts by Toothless, who hit him with his ear. Looking down, the last surviving tank had made it to Berk and began bombarding the buildings from a distance.

"Toothless, you got another shot bud?" Toothless grumbled, signifying his readiness. They dove into one last run, hitting terminal velocity pretty quickly. Just before they hit the ground, Toothless let off a plasma blast then pulled up rapidly, dispatching the tank with a dramatic purple explosion. As they landed Stoick and Gobber approached them.

"It's good ta have ya here son, we were getting' worried ya weren't gonna come back." Stoick said as he hugged his son.

"Jus' for the record, I knew you'd come back" Gobber interjected. As they pulled back, the Master Chief walked up to the four of them.

"The ground forces are pulling back. It seems they've had enough of being blown up. The Indigo Terra is under attack. Boarding parties have forced entry and I'm needed back there. 4 teams have already been assigned to help the cleanup operation back here while I'm gone." A pelican drop-ship approaches. "I have no doubts that Lasky and his men will be able to hold off the boarding parties, but not forever." The Master Chief saluted them and walked towards the pelican.

Once aboard, it slowly rose up into the sky and headed off back towards the crashed ship in the ocean.

Hiccup ran over to Toothless. "Come on bud, we'll go give them a hand." Before he could attach his clip to Toothless' saddle, Stoick lifted him off and placed him back on the ground.

"It's their fight now, son."

Hiccup protested. "But dad-" He was cut off.

"No, now come on. Berk needs ya more'n they do." He pushed Hiccup along towards what was left of Berk.

"Will someone give me some goddamn answers!" Lasky shouted above the alarms on the bridge.

"Covenant forces have taken deck 5 sir and they're heading down towards the engine bay." A desk operative spoke from her position

"Alright, get Spartan teams down there ASAP. And we'll-" Lasky was interrupted by another desk operative.

"Sir, 'Vadum is on board."

He turned around and looked at the operative for a moment before finally replying. "Alright, inform everyone. I'm on my way." He pulled out his service magnum, checked the clip and walked off the bridge.

The operative shouted to him as he left. "Sir! What about the rest of the covenant?"

"Victory is secured f'rom the front lines" Lasky shouted back as he continued onwards.

He could hear gunfire and shouts from just down the hall. There were shouts from marines, squeals from grunts and even a few elite voices in there too accompanied by plasma fire and grenade explosions. Lasky drew his magnum as he slowed down and approached the source of the noise. As he closed in, Rtas 'Vadum himself stalked around the corner gripping his energy sword, he'd clearly just come from a battle as he was bleeding slightly from his face and his energy shields were still flashing, meaning they hadn't recharged. He hadn't seen Lasky, so it was the perfect moment.

'Vadum threw a plasma grenade dow the hall at the marines who hadn't seen him. Lasky wasn't having that at all.

"You will face me, sir." He addressed 'Vadum as if he were a superior officer. 'Vadum turned on him and stalked forwards. Lasky raised his magnum and let off a single shot. It struck 'Vadum in the throat. He continued forward, as if the purple blood spilling out of his neck meant nothing to him. 'Vadum growled and raised his energy sword as if to strike. Lasky fired his magnum one more time. This time, the bullet sank straight into his skull, 'Vadum's eyes opened wide. He paused for a moment and Lasky wondered if he was going to put a whole magazine in him before he dies. As he wondered, 'Vadum leaned backward and fell completely with a loud crash. One of the marines noticed this and shouted "'Vadum's dead! Their leader's down! Push forward!" All the marines shouted with a new zeal as they realised the soldiers who were being forced to fight could leave.

The radio lit up with chatter as everyone was notified of the enemy commander's death. Lasky's voice was louder than everyone else's. "Attention everybody. The enemy commander Rtas 'Vadum is down. Let's push them back and get them off my ship!" As he finished his address, he could hear the voices of the soldiers shouting in agreement. For once, something was going their way.

As Lasky returned to the bridge, all of the operatives stood up and applauded him. Clearly they'd been watching the cameras when he was in the hallway. He looked around the room at all of them before walking to the front of the bridge.

"Come on people back to it, this ship's not going to bring itself up to code." At that, everyone sat back down at their desks and carried on with their tasks. Lasky took another look around the room. "How long until we're capable of flight?" Lasky asked. No one answered him. Instead, the sip rumbled into life. The emergency lights switched off as the engines spun up with their typical hum. Lasky walked to the captain's chair and sat back, ready for the final phase of takeoff.

Back on Berk, an almighty noise was swelling around the Vikings. Hiccup, Stoick and most of the village walked over to the cliff where they could see the crashed vessel. High in the sky, the enemy's ship was slowly closing in on their island, drifting silently. Out at sea, the crashed ship of their allies was making an odd rumbling noise, similar to the one Hiccup had heard when they first crashed into the water. Around the base of the ship in the sea there were waves forming, moving slowly away from it. Suddenly, the ship lurched slowly into the air, water pouring off the hull. The marines on the island looked over and cheered with joy. Then, the rest of Berk joined in with them. Hiccup, Stoick and Toothless looked around at the villagers, then they joined in too with the dragons letting off fire bolts every now and then.

They stopped however when to their dismay they noticed that their allies' ship was heading away from them completely. They didn't seem bothered about the troops that they'd left on the island and weren't going to take on the enemy ship. Actually, that had disappeared too. Astrid was the first to notice, she tugged on Hiccup's arm and pointed to the vessel, which had used the distraction to position itself directly over the island. Although now minus it's commander, the ship was truly colossal, it could cover the entire island with room to spare. There was also a green energy orb charging up from the bottom of the ship, straight over their heads.

"To the caves! Everybody! Now!" Stoick called. Every villager scrambled as they made their way to the caves on Berk. Stoick grabbed Hiccup's shoulders and looked at him desperately. "Son, we're on our own. Get ya team together, get up there and do something useful to hold them off, buy us enough time to get everybody safe."

"Sure dad" Hiccup replied.

Stoick hugged his son. "Now, go"

Well, it's almost the end of this amazing journey. Thanks to all those who have kept faithful to my story. Just one chapter left now!

Until the Next Time...
