All Linda could do to not break down was hold her husband as he wept. She wished that Jamie would wake up. She had felt her husband go still in her arms about 30 minutes ago, signaling that he had fallen into a tear induced slumber. She knew Erin and Frank had left a couple of hours ago to refresh and get some sleep. It may not be the best sleep, but she knows it has to be better then the one that her husband is currently struggling through right now. Linda had tried to convince Danny to go home a couple of times but he insisted on staying with Jamie until he knew that his little brother was out of danger.

It was all that Linda could really give. The embrace she had on her husband tightened as thought about the last time the family was in this position. She is glad that Danny was getting this time with Jamie, for he didn't even get to say good bye to Joe. Even though he is barely clinging, barely hanging on, she is grateful that Danny gets to spend time with his brother. As she lays her husband down to sleep, she finds herself next to her young brother-in-law. She knows what all the instrumentation is meant for, but she still hopes that maybe it is helping him heal. However, she can't get past all of her training. She can't help but talk to the young man, one that she has come to love like a brother.

One that she has watched grow from the seven year old boy who was trying his best to keep up with his brothers, to a loving, caring, doting uncle. He was a Harvard educated lawyer, who had decided to put aside everything to become a cop, to follow in the family tradition. He was part of her family now; she knew that her family would break if they lost Jamie. As she grasps his hand, she revels in how much he has grown.

"Jamie, the first time I met you, I knew that you were a spitfire. Even though you may not agree, you are more like your older brother than you realize. It is because of that, which I adore and look at you as more of a brother than brother-in-law. I know the family would be broken if they lost you. Each of them would grieve in their own way. I know that Danny would take it the hardest. Hell, I know he is taking it harder than anyone. He is blaming himself. I would love to wake Danny up, telling him that you are going to be alright. But first, I need to know that you are still in there, that you can hear me, anything please," Linda caught herself, but quickly turned into quiet sobbing.

However those grieving tears changed to happy tears when she felt a slight pressure change on her hand. It was then she realized that Jamie had squeezed her hand, letting her know that he had heard her.

"Thank you Jamie, thank you," Linda happily wept.
