A/N: Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait. I've had horrible writer's block for this story. However I have had a breakthrough on this story. I think that there will be two more chapter. One at least and two if I can't wrap the story in one more chapter. I want to wrap up this story and His Wife. That way I can concentrate on my other two stories. Please R&R.

A HUGE thank you to all of my readers, you have kept me going on this story. I hope you like this one.

He couldn't hold it together any longer. His eyes had been dry for over two days. He hadn't left Jamie's bedside, only to use the bathroom and attempt to eat. However he can't recall eating anything since before the incident. He had been in the same seat for almost five days. He feels like he is falling apart at the seams, the only thing keeping him from falling apart completely, had just clocked on for her shift promising that she would check in as much as possible. He remembers he wasn't this bad when Joe was killed. But then again he never had a chance to say good bye to Joe and he was with Jamie when it had all happened. And he can't get it out of his head. He can't stop seeing his brother on the ground and the blood all over his hands.

"Talk to him, Danny, he knows you here," Linda's voice breaks through the static of the world Danny has placed himself in. "Last night, after I talked to him, he…he squeezed my hand. " A smile ghosting over her lips, hoping to see some emotion, anything to see something left of the man she loved.

"He…he squeezed your hand? He heard you?" Danny asked tearfully, hoping that there was some sign of his baby brother coming back to him.

As Linda stepped further into the room, she could see the questions that Danny wanted to ask but couldn't. "I was thinking back to how much he has grown up since I first met him. I remember walking into your house, scared of what your family was going to think of me," pausing to smile just a little bit and happy to see an almost identical one on her husband's face as well, "he was the first one to approach me when we walked in the door. He smiled that trademark smile of his and greeted with me with a hug and told me he was happy, someone liked his oldest brother, because someone had to. He made me feel so welcome, like I was finally in the right place. He was a grown up seven year old when I met him, and now he is a cop with four, almost five years on the job, who is an amazing uncle to his niece and nephews. The slight squeeze of my hand, it was as if to reassure me that he was still here. Still hearing all of us." As she made her way over to her husband she whispered to him, "but above everything else, he cares so much about you and your sister, that he would do anything for you. He has grown up so much in many years I've known him. He loves you, Danny. Don't forget that. I have to get back to work. If you need me, just have them page me and I'll be here as soon as I can. Talk to him. I love you."

"Love you too."

"Love you more."

As he watches his wife leave, he wonders how he became so lucky, to have such an amazing wife, who would stay with her in-laws more than he own family. He's not about to dismiss her advice as reaches for his baby brother's hand, he doesn't know exactly what to say.

"You know when mom and dad first told me I was going to have another younger sibling, I was scared. It meant that I had one more person to look out for. I wasn't sure I could do it. You have to remember I was ten, what was I supposed to think. But when I held you for the first time, I vowed I wouldn't let anything happen to you, Erin or Joe. The only one of the three, I have yet to let down was Erin. I haven't told you this enough. But I am so proud of you. You have become such an amazing uncle to my boys and Nicky, a great friend to Linda, a loving son to Dad, and Erin and I couldn't ask for a better brother. I love you kid and you have to come back to us. We need you more than you will even know. All I ask is some way to show me that you are still here, that you can hear this, because I can't lose you," Danny finished tearfully. He had let his emotions go and knew that was what he needed. As he let the tears fall, he felt the pressure of his brother's grip tighten around his hand. He was also rewarded with something he had been pleading for since they arrived. Jamie's bright blue eyes were sleepily watching him.

"Hey, kid, man I've missed you," Danny sobbed as he hugged his brother.
