CHAPTER 15: CURED
CPOV
Clary's back felt like someone was scraping it with a million needlles.
She could feel herself go into the shock she was supposed to of went through a long time ago. But Sebastian had never given her a chance to.
She could hear Isabelle and Jocelyn talking, but she couldn't actually hear what they were saying.
Everything just seemed so distant.
Clary didn't know how long she lay on the ground, in pain. But when she felt cool, smooth hands on her back, the stinging pain seemed to disappear.
The shock started to fade away, and she could suddenly hear what they were saying.
"She's going to be okay, right?" Asked Jace.
"Yes. Just bring her to a room and let her rest," she heard Magnus say.
How did Magnus get here? I don't remember him coming!
She could hear herself breathing hard, her heart beating it's way out of her chest.
She was amazed her heart hadn't beat a hole in her chest by now.
She saw Jace walk towards her, kneel down beside her, and lift her up with his strong arms.
He carried her into a room with green walls, a wardrobe on the back wall, a window just beside it, and a comfy looking bed in the right hand corner.
Jace carried her over to the bed, tucked her in and turned to leave.
"Jace! Whatever you do, don't go after him!" Clary choked out.
Jace hesitated.
"Promise me you won't!" She whispered.
He didn't turn around, but he said, "I promise."
"Thank you," she whispered.
As sleep took her, she didn't know that Jace had lied to her.
JPOV
As soon as Jace left Clary to sleep, the guilt of lying to her weighed down on him.
But he knew he had to kill Sebastian, otherwise he'd start a war against Shadowhunters, and he'll take Clary.
The first thing he did was go to Magnus.
He was in the living room with Alec when he found him.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Jace asked, gesturing towards Magnus.
Magnus stood up, walked out with Jace into the hall, and said, "This better be important."
Jace smiled. "Well, it's a lot more important than watching you and Alec snogging behind everyone's backs," he said with sarcasm.
He watched with amusement as Magnus went red to pale to red again.
"What is it you want?" Magnus asked, his cat eyes curious.
I need you to teach me the tracking rune," Jace told him, all sarcasm gone now.
Magnus blinked, and then his face became very solemn.
"You want to kill Sebastian, don't you?"
"Yes," Jace said.
Magnus hesitated for a moment, before deciding that no matter what he did, he'd never change the boy's mind.
"All right, but as long as you leave Clary a note and tell her you're tracking him," Magnus told him.
Jace felt another guilty pang in his chest.
"I will," he said.
Magnus gestured at Jace to follow him into the kitchen.
"You have to have something that belongs to him. That's the only way you can track him," Magnus told him.
"I have a thread that Clary owned. His blood is on it," Jace replied.
"Good. Now here's how you draw the rune..." Magnus drew out a piece of paper and a pen, and drew a circle, then he drew two interlocking curvy lines in the shape of an X on the circle.
"You draw this on the back of your hand with your stele," he told Jace.
Jace nodded, took the piece of paper and went to his own room.
He walked over to the desk, took out a blank piece of paper and a pen, and started writing the note to Clary.
Clary,
I know that when you read this, I'll probably be gone already.
I'm sorry I lied to you, but it was for the best.
So, I give you the Morgenstern ring as a peace offering, as I can't bear the thought of losing it, as I can't bear the thought of losing you.
Jace.
When Jace was finished the letter, he took off his chain that held the Morgenstern ring, and put it in the envelope along with the letter.
He put on his gear, grabbed as much weapons that he could carry, and snuck into Clary's room.
She was fast asleep, with her head lying on her palm, her red hair al over the pillow that her head was lying on.
He left the evelope on her desk, and left the Accords Hall.
So, what do you think?
