So I decided that for the holidays I will do two fanfics in two weeks. Here's the first one a partial update for Angels Flower. I know what I said in the last chapter but this one was getting so long I decided to chunk it into two smaller chapters. So anyways here's the first part and the second should be coming by the end of next week along with an update for one maybe two of my other fanfictions. Anyways read, review, and favorite. If you have a moment check out my Fanfic society on Tumblr for updates, other fanfics and everything!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, these are words spoken by one who finds their fate bound to another by love. It had been about two months, approaching three since Tsubaki had been taken back to Japan by her parents, shattering the relationship that she had built with the savior of Death City, Maka Albarn. Her parents thought that it was a disgrace to the family as most members were very narrow minded and spent most of their time living in the old ways established for them during the feudal days. Maka's family on the other hand seemed much more supporting, Spirit in the few moments he was aware and possibly Maka's mother who they had written to about their relationship one year in.

"Are you listening?" A single question, asked by two people at the same moment to two completely different responses. "Huh, sorry Soul, I wasn't really," Maka sighed giving up on trying to explain the problem to her partner, he already knew full well what was going on inside of her head. The Meister was busy thinking about her girlfriend, someone who she thought may very well be her soul mate. "I know you're thinking about her and you get spacy when you do, but I haven't seen you this far gone." Soul began his usual prodding, he wasn't exactly the most straightforward person a quality he shared with Tsubaki. While Tsubaki would usually delay having to ask a question or simply stumble over her words from time to time; Soul was more than happy to dance around his question before he got to the real issue.

"If you really have to know, our anniversary next week." Maka had grown quick to snap whenever someone started to mention Tsubaki or their relationship considering the way in which the two had been separated from one another months back. At first it started with depression, Maka had spent most of her time locked up in her room over the summer not really bothering to leave the house and only leaving her room to perform daily tasks such as bathing or eating. All Soul needed to do was look at her and he could see that she wasn't sleeping. The dark sunken circles under her eyes, tinged a dark purple, something that only happened with extreme sleep deprivation. Her eyes were puffy and red, she had been crying; but he didn't need to be observe her in order to see that was true after all he could hear her crying at night. Maka's body shook every few moments as if someone had dropped her in the middle of an icebox, the shaking was normal for someone who went past forty eight hours without sleep.

Soul had managed to coax Maka out into the public light but she wasn't recovering, not really. The only reason she slept was because of pure exhaustion, not because she was actually tired, so even though the shaking had stopped, and the circles under her eyes had begun to fade away, most of Maka's friends, Soul especially, knew that she was far from getting back to normal. A normal breakup wouldn't have hurt this much, Maka would have been able to move on but to have everything robbed from her so completely, that tore a hole Maka couldn't repair, how could she, Tsubaki was her first.

"No I was not, I apologize." Tsubaki spoke in a meek voice just like when she had started at the DWMA, before she learned how to really express herself and break from the shell that her parents had so thoroughly molded her into during her childhood. It had taken her years to break free from the oppression of her household, the constant demand of perfection and obedience. In less than a month her parents had managed to return her to feeling like a submissive child, doing whatever was best not for herself but for her family and their image in the public eye.

She had been forced home and locked within the confines of her room. Every day her mother came to talk to her about potential marriage partners or even having Black Star come to the residence. Every time that woman entered the room, Tsubaki begged to talk to Maka, to at least be allowed to write her. Tsuabaki's mother did not take too kindly to this, with every request to have some form of contact with the Meister, Tsubaki would be beaten and denied food for the rest of the day. It only took three weeks almost four for the Demon Tool to fall in line, to return to the mindset she had long thought impossible, no promised that she would never return to.

It only took a month after that for her to fall into her parent's strict regimen of marriage applications, dressing her in the various kimonos she would wear when she started to meet her potential marriage partners in the fall and winter. Her parents were able to control and take over every aspect of her life, it wasn't until that moment that Tsubaki was allowed out of her room and to roam the estate and nowhere else, not allowed past the gates. Tsubaki knew that she would not be allowed to leave the house until she was married, even then she would not be allowed to leave the country if her parents had something to say about it and she knew that they would.

"I was just asking what you thought about a fall wedding." Her suitor asked as he looked over to her with a smile, he seemed far too cocky, almost like he expected Tsubaki to go along with anything he said about a potential wedding. The problem was that she didn't have a say in her own wedding arrangements, she didn't even get a say in the person she was going to marry, no that decision rested on the shoulder of her parents. No she was just an object to be shown around to potential husbands while her parents were meticulously planning out every single moment of her life.

"That sounds wonderful," Tsubaki spoke in her soft voice, giving a gentle smile, by now it wasn't even her trying to be courteous it was just a reflex, a survival instinct allowing her to live without her mother's beating for being disobedient. He nodded seeming satisfied with the response as he began to continue on about his rambling and Tsubaki returned to her own thoughts, her own little world. She wanted to just retreat into her room, to her small world where she could pretend Maka was there with her, giving her the strength to keep going, to deal with her abusive family.

She would nod, smile, simply viewing the situation in front of her as if she was sitting in front of a screen watching the entire world move past her. She could still hear Maka's voice in the back of her head, those gentle words she would whisper across the pillow, words only meant for her. She would tell her how beautiful or smart she was, things that reassured Tsubaki about a life that had long since been enforced was not hers to control. Even hearing those words that reassured her, she could still hear the hiss of her mother and father, they were like poison, growing louder and louder still drowning out what Maka had once said.

It was like she was a child all over again, no matter what anyone said to her it was never enough to make the venom her parents slowly injected into her mind, the venom which made her complacent, subservient, and above all else malleable to the wishes of those who had such control over her. The normal length of the marriage meeting ended and Tsubaki was sequestered back into her room where she sat silently, unable to do anything aside from look out the single window, the one which overlooked the garden where Maka and Tsubaki first started to share their feelings for one another.

All she could do was stare and breathe in the scent of the warm summer air, trying to fully remember her time with Maka. She was one of the people who managed to repair the damage that her parents may have done to her psyche. Perhaps, in the end, things were meant to be this way. She was meant to be manipulated by others until the last days of her life but it was nice, being with Maka, who for a short time, made her feel differently. Tsubaki smiled, a warm smile as she retreated into her memories to enjoy a time she knew to be long since gone.

Maka sat up in the middle of the evening, her blanket wrapped around herself rather tightly. She was curled up tightly, trying to keep from falling asleep. She wanted to stay up, to try and avoid the nightmares that would ensue. Opposite her was Tsubaki, ready to retire for the evening, ready to embrace the dreams which comforted her. Sometimes when she was absorbed in the veil of sleep she could almost feel Maka's soul. Even with the distance between them, with obstacles which sought to break the two of them down there was still a connection between the two of them. From the moment their two souls connected, further onwards from when their bodies connected, their connection became even stronger, strong enough they felt it despite how weak it may have been at the moment.
