"I really should do some work." the brunette mumbled to herself. Both of her friends hard at work beside her. Emily, on her left, typing away at her MacBook, her long blue hair shrouding her face as she rushed to finish her English project. On the right of Ken was James, his freckled face and green and gold eyes locked onto his notes. he had his history exam coming up and he hate himself even more if he failed. He'd run his hand through his sort brown hair with frustration roughly every ten minutes. In the middle was Ken, vacant blue grey eyes zoned out, staring into space. Her curiosity was perked as James stood.
"What cha' doing?" Her voice oozing for something interesting to happen. "Throwing out my tea cup." He stared at her blankly with his glazed green eyes.
"Ah, okay..." Ken mumbled, glaring at the Tim Horton's cup as in was thrown in the trash. James robotatically moving back to his chair, sitting in the same position with his elbow on the table and his hand resting on his forehead. Ken to had a cup to be thrown out. She played with it in her hands, flicking the tab of the lid, desperately hoping that if she focused hard enough that some more that the XL coffee would reappear. Sadly it didn't. With an exasperated sigh the female rose, her bright red hair falling into her face,
"This is why I got a pixie cut, so it wouldn't get in my way." She thought to herself tiredly. As she neared the trashcan, which was beside the door, a shadow caught her attention. Quickly she leaned out the doorway and looked around, to see nothing. Though she could hear a clicking down the hall, much like a clawed person or thing running. Tossing out her cup she glanced back into the classroom. Everyone quiet, boring. The supply teacher half asleep. It's not like she was doing anything anyways, so she slipped out the door. Following the sound of clicking. She didn't realize but James had noticed her leave, concerned about his friends random departure he tapped Emily on the shoulder.
"Hey, Ken's gone, I'm gonna go see and if she's okay." Emily replied without hesitation,
"I'm coming." She grabbed her messenger bag they went of looking for their fiery friend. It didn't take them very long to find her, their school only consisted of three floors, and they found her in the basement.
"Dude? Why'd you walk off like that?" Jame's voice filled with concern.
"Don't you hear it? They're clicking." Ken responded, her eyes locked onto an open locker.
"What? Ken, this isn't funny." Emily finally spoke up, shifting in her black converse uncomfortably. Ken grinned, making the other two incredibly weary,
"There's a portal."
"WHAT? Ken stop. Let's go back to class." James walked towards her, then paused as he got a good look into the locker. Swirling about was an opaque purple mist.
"Wh-." He froze up, Emily walked over, she too froze.
"Who's first?" Ken had glee laced in her voice as she gestured to the locker.
"You're fucking crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y." James began to yell. Ken lowered her head, giving him her signature puppy dog-eyes since she knew James had a soft spot for her.
"Fine. If I die, I'm haunting your dumb ass."
Ken giggled and watched him trip and fall into the portal, promptly transporting to wherever it lead to.
"Down the rabbit hole we go!" Ken, giddy as a small child on Christmas whom had just revived a puppy jumped through. Leaving Emily alone. Much to Emily's dismay she didn't want to be alone, so she followed. Even though fear gripped her heart, she was loyal to her friends. After the vacancy of the three teens, the locker slammed closed. Leaving no trace of their departure.
