Kids - Gotta Love 'Em
In the middle of everything, the door chimed.
Leia swallowed a foul curse and marched over the door, palming it open.
"Hi, come on in. Parenting Crisis."
Luke smiled.
"Where's Han?"
"Delayed. Three more days - at least according to Wedge. Might as well be three Gods-damn years." She ground out, striding back to the entrance of the long hallway which led to the children's rooms and both offices. "Anakin! Do you have pants on yet?"
"Mom!" Jaina shrieked. "Jacen farted."
Luke watched his sister with half amusement. Externally, she was the uppity Princess turned Rebel Leader turned Politician. Here, she was exasperated mother of three waiting for her husband to come home so she could have a glass of wine in peace. It was highly refreshing.
"Jacen! What do we say?"
More giggling, then a sing-song 'Sorry Jaya' was all the response she got.
Leia leaned back against the wall, letting her head fall back with a light thud.
"Hi."
"Hi," he couldn't help smiling. Leia's family always made him feel normal. "You look-"
"Save it, Skywalker. Did you just get in? Anakin! Pants! Now! How was your flight?" It took some keeping up with her; speaking with one sentence inside another, as she often did these days. The small figure of his youngest nephew darted across the hall into the fresher - still from the quick glance Luke caught - stark naked and slightly wet.
"No pants party?"
"He's 'air-drying'. Have you eaten?"
Luke laughed. Yes, he truly did love this family.
