It all belongs to JKR! PLS R&R!
Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny had all changed into their robes. They had left the topic of Malfoy. They had all agreed that they would give Malfoy a chance if he ever asked for it. They had another thirty minutes time until they reached Hogwarts. And so, they had decided to play a game of Exploding Snap. It was Ron's idea really.
"Then Exploding Snap it is!" Harry said.
"I'm not playing." Hermione said.
"Why not?"
"It's just that…. I'm not interested."
"Alright then. Come on then. Let's get on with our game."
Harry, Ron and Ginny began to play. Meanwhile, Hermione just stared out of the window thinking.
Hermione was very inquisitive ever since she was a child. Once she had a question, she would not rest until she had found an answer to it. She would give her parents a headache until they answered her question. This was the main reason she had come to love books. If no one had the answers to her questions, she would eventually turn to books. They had answers to every question. But books could not provide the answer to the question that was currently bugging her.
WHO IS HEAD BOY?
She honestly didn't know why the identity of the Head boy was bothering her so much. Whoever it was, she hoped he would be nice and understanding. But thinking like this didn't help her at all. She tried to console herself in many ways, but it did not work. At the end of the day, her brain of still asking the same question again and again.
"Who is Head Boy? Who is Head Boy? Who is Head Boy? Who is Head Boy? Who is Head Boy?"
"WHO IS HEAD BOY?"
She shouted out loud voicing her thoughts. Her three friends stared at her in amazement. She suddenly realized that she had shouted it out loud. Ron spoke up. "What is it Hermione?" he asked. "It's just that I'm so very curious to know who the Head Boy is. I don't know why I'm so curious." She finished.
"Would you like to play now?" Harry asked her.
"No." she replied.
"You have to play." Ron said firmly.
"No."
"You have to play Hermione." Ginny said. "If you don't play, then you'll continue staring out of the window."
"Yeah. And if you do that, you'll go back to thinking about the Head Boy. You have to play." Ron said.
"I… Alright." She conceded.
"Good. We have about fifteen minutes left. Let's start a new game shall we?" Harry asked.
Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at Hogwarts. They got down onto the platform and saw Hagrid. Harry ran over to him and hugged him. Hermione, Ron and Ginny weren't long in doing the same thing.
"Hope you have a good year!" Hagrid said. "I'll miss you all after this."
"We'll miss you too Hagrid." Hermione said sadly. Indeed, it was true. This was the last time they could roam the corridors of Hogwarts. "Yeah. We'll miss you too Hagrid." Harry said, breaking her thoughts.
"I'm sorry" a voice said from behind them.
They all turned around to see Draco Malfoy standing there. Even though Hermione had said that Malfoy had changed, she did feel very much surprised. She never really thought that he would apologize to Hagrid! She never thought that he would apologize to person whom he so utterly despised. She thought that was really nice of him.
Harry was standing with his mouth wide open. He was sure that his mouth was touching the ground. "Maybe Hermione is right." He thought. "Maybe he really has changed."
Ron was staring at Malfoy as if he had just told him that Severus Snape and McGonagall were together. How could this happen? "He really must have changed." He thought. "I must listen to Mione and give him a chance."
Ginny was astonished. Had Malfoy just apologized to Hagrid? Impossible. But Malfoys never apologize. "He has changed." She concluded.
They were all snapped out of their thoughts when Malfoy spoke again.
"I'm sorry Hagrid." He said. "I'm really sorry for all that I have done to you. I have changed Hagrid. Please believe me. I am not the spoilt brat that I once was. I would like to be friends with you."
Everyone including Hagrid was still staring at him as if they had seen a ghost. Hagrid recovered first. "It's alright Malfoy. If you really mean what you just said, then I would love to be friends with you." He said. Malfoy looked really happy. A smile appeared on his face. The very genuine smile that he had smiled on the train. "Thank you Hagrid. This means a lot to me. I promise I shall never hurt you like that again." He said and turned towards them. "I have a lot to talk to you. Can we travel in the same carriage?" he asked. They just nodded. "Good." He replied and walked away to find a carriage. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny turned to face Hagrid. "Go." Hagrid said. They nodded once more and followed Malfoy. He had already found a carriage. "Come on." He said and climbed onto the carriage. They all squeezed in.
Malfoy was quiet for a while. Then, he spoke up. "I'm sorry for all that I have done to you." He said. "I have committed a lot of mistakes and I would like to make it up to you. I really am sorry. Please believe me. I shall never hurt you guys like that again." Once again, Malfoy had shocked everyone. "Wha.. you..." Ron stammered. Hermione stared at Ron. She then turned to Malfoy. "Do you really mean it?" she asked. "I do." He replied. "I do. Please give me a chance."
"Ok, then." She simply replied.
"We will surely give you a chance." Ginny said. "But remember not to do any of that stuff again." She warned.
"Thank you." Malfoy said softly. "Potter, Weasley, what about you two?" he asked.
"Fine Malfoy." Harry conceded.
"Thanks. Weasley?"
"I will certainly give you a chance." Ron said and turned to Hermione. "You were right Mione. He really has changed." He said.
"Thank you guys. I would love to be friends with all of you. Friends?" he asked.
"Friends." They all replied in unision.
The rest of the carriage ride was very comfortable. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny had never really thought that they would be so very comfortable in the presence of Malfoy. But they were. They all stole a glance at Malfoy. He seemed to be thinking deeply. He seemed to come to a conclusion. He said,
"Habits die hard."
"And what would that mean?" Hermione asked.
"Look Granger, I'm used to fighting with you guys. It's very difficult to change that."
"Same here." Ron said
"But I'm not going to insult you as I used to." he replied. "But I have to have a dispute with you at least once a day."
"What do you want to say?"
"Look. I will certainly fight with you. But only playfully. Not like I used to before. Deal?" he asked.
"Deal." A beaming Ron said.
"We too, cannot live without fighting with you Malfoy." Harry said.
Hermione and Ginny just laughed at their deal. "Finally." Hermione thought.
Draco Malfoy was now probably the happiest person on earth.
Isn't Draco too happy? Will update as soon as possible.
