Hermione ran off towards the Gryffindor common room. As she stood in front of the portrait of the Fat Lady, it struck her that she did not know the password. "Well, I'm a Gryffindor and I know the Fat Lady, so perhaps she'll let me in." she thought and went towards the Fat Lady. "Password?" the Fat Lady asked. "Um.. Look." Hermione began. "I am Head Girl.." "Yes I know dear." The Fat Lady interrupted. "Don't interrupt me!" Hermione said, angry at being interrupted. "Okay. Look. I don't know the password, but you know I'm a Gryffindor so you can let me in right?" she asked the Fat Lady. The Fat Lady looked a little unsure, but she knew Hermione. "Alright dear. I trust you." she said and opened the door. There were still a few people in the common room. She smiled at them and looked around for Harry, Ron and Ginny. She found Harry and Ron in front of the fire, playing Wizards Chess. She walked up to them. The two were so interested in their game that they didn't even notice Hermione's presence. She looked at the chess board. As usual, it looked as if Ron was winning and Harry was desperately looking for some way to beat him. She looked on for a while, hoping that they would notice she was present. After a while, she lost her patience. "Harry, Ron, did you even notice that I was standing here?" she asked sweetly.
"Of course we saw you Mione." Ron said.
"Yeah. We surely did see you." Harry said, not looking up.
"Then you don't want to talk to me?" Hermione asked.
"We do want to talk to you Hermione." Ron said, all his concentration on the game.
"Yeah. We do." Harry said, still not looking up.
"And you do realize that if you need to talk to me, then you must stop your wonderful game don't you?" she asked.
"Of course we realize." They said, still not looking in her direction.
Hermione lost every ounce of her patience. "STOP! RIGHT NOW!" she yelled. The whole common room was now looking in her direction. "Too loud." Hermione thought. She turned to Harry and Ron, who were watching her with their mouths open. "Look. I'm sorry guys, but I came here to tell you something really important." She said. "We're sorry Mione. We should have listened to you." Harry said. "Yeah. Sorry." Ron said. Hermione looked pleased. "Leave it." She said. "Look. Dumbledore said the Heads had to share a common dormitory and.." "What! You're going to share a dormitory with Malfoy! Impossible!" Ron cried. "Wait Ron. Stop shouting." Hermione said. "Harry, you and Ginny also have to share the dorm with him and three of his friends. Dumbledore said we could bring three of our friends each." She said, waiting for their reactions. "What! Me sharing a dorm with a bunch of Slytherins! Never going to happen." Ron said. Hermione looked sad. Harry noticed her expression. "Ron," he said. "The Slytherins are not that bad. They have all changed. They came and apologized to us! Don't you think that is proof enough?" Harry asked. "Well.. I think.." Ron trailed off, not knowing whether to agree or not. "Ron please," Hermione pleaded. "Please come with me. Please?" Ron agreed. "Alright. Come on. Let's go." He said. "Thanks Ron." Hermione said, smiling. "Harry?" she looked at him. "Of course I'm coming!" Harry said. "Thanks. I suppose Ginny's up in her dorm. I'll go get her." She said and skipped upstairs. Meanwhile, Harry and Ron decided to give up on their game of Wizarding Chess for now and continue it later.
Draco got to the Slytherin common room. "Shit!" he thought. It was only then that he realized that he did not know the password. He was thinking of a way to find out the password when he saw a couple of first years who were strutting about. His first thought was to bully them for the password. He was about to go for it but he did not think he should do it. 'You're not the same person Draco.' A small voice said in his head. 'You are a changed man Draco.' It said. "Of course!" Draco thought. He had decided to be a nice person and get along with everyone, and he couldn't bully students. "I won't do it. I won't do it. I'll make an effort. I'll make an effort to lose my old ways." He repeated to himself. He suddenly realized that the two first years were staring at him weirdly. "Damn! I must have said that out loud." He thought. "Could you please tell me the password?" he asked politely. "O- Of course." One of them stuttered. "It's Bloody Baron." "Thanks." Draco replied and went into the common room.
"I've wasted enough time out here." He thought. Luckily, he found Blaise, Pansy and Theo in the common room, playing Exploding Snap. He went over to them. "Hey Blaise!" he said, giving him a pat on the back. His hand went down harder than it was meant to, causing Blaise to drop all his cards. "Wow. Thanks for spoiling my game Draco!" he said, clearly angry. "Look Blaise. I'll come straight to the point. I have to share a dorm with the Head Girl and.." but he was interrupted. "You and Granger sharing a dorm! Ha ha! Mark my words, that dorm is going to blow up." Blaise said. Theo started laughing and Pansy joined in too. "Very funny. Now shut up." Draco said, annoyed. "Dumbledore said that Granger and I are allowed to bring three of our friends each. So I need you three to get your trunks right now and come with me this instant." Pansy gave him a mock stern look. "It's as if you're ordering us Draco." she said. Draco sighed while Blaise and Theo snickered. "May I humbly request you to come and stay with me for the rest of the year?" he asked. "Okay, okay." Pansy said laughing. "Get up lazy-bugs." she said, hitting both Theo and Blaise on the head. "Ouch! That hurt woman!" Blaise said dramatically. Pansy laughed once more. "It was meant to." She said and went upstairs to her dormitory. Blaise and Theo followed suit. Draco sat down on the couch and waited for them to finish their bickering and come down.
Hermione told Ginny to come downstairs and came down to the common room and waited. Harry and Ron came down with their trunks and went over to Hermione. "Ah.. There you are. I thought you would never come." She said exasperatedly. "But what's taking Ginny so long?" she looked at Harry. "Dunno." Harry said. She went up there before us. God knows what's taking her so long." He said. "Why don't you go and see Herm?" Hermione nodded. "Yeah. I'll go upstairs. You two wait here."
Hermione found the Girls Dormitory in a wrecked state. Lavender and Parvati were laughing at something or maybe someone. Hermione went further in and saw Ginny under her bed, obviously looking for something. "It's not there!" she cried. Lavender and Parvati laughed harder. "What's wrong Ginny?" Hermione asked. Ginny paid attention to her and went on looking under all the beds. Hermione understood that she was not going to listen to anyone until she found what she had lost. "What's wrong guys?" she asked Lavender and Parvati. "She lost something." Lavender said. "Yeah." Parvati said. Hermione turned her gaze to Ginny. She was searching really hard. Whatever it was, it must be very important. "I can see that. What did she lose?" she asked, as she turned her attention back to the two snickering girls. "Her lipstick." Parvati said and burst out into high-pitched giggles. Lavender joined her. Ginny suddenly became aware of her surroundings and glared at them. Hermione, on the other hand, was fighting the urge to laugh. "Come on Ginny." She said. "Don't worry. I'll give you mine." Ginny, who was still glaring at the giggling girls, turned to Hermione. "Alright. Come let's go." She said, giving up on finding her lipstick. They went downstairs and Hermione beckoned Harry and Ron to join them as they went out of the portrait.
Meanwhile, in the Slytherin Common room, Draco Malfoy was waiting patiently for his friends to come back downstairs. He was losing his patience every minute. He was about to go upstairs when he saw Pansy coming. "Finally!" he said. "Where are those two idiots?" he asked. Pansy shrugged. "Who knows." She said. Suddenly, Blaise and Theo entered, arguing about something. "I did not take it!" Blaise cried.
"You did!" Theo yelled.
"Did not!"
"Did!"
"Hey wait, wait." Draco interrupted. "What's the matter?"
"He's taken my deodorant and -" "I did NOT take your deodorant!" Blaise shouted. Theo was about to disagree, but was interrupted by Draco again. "Stop guys. Let's have this argument after we get to the dorm. Not now. We'll go to dorm and settle down first." He said. Theo calmed down. "Fine." He said. Draco looked relieved. "Come on then. Let's go." He said and ushered them out of the common room.
Hermione, Harry, Ron and Ginny made their way along the numerous corridors of Hogwarts. "Here we are!" Hermione said when they neared the common room. "Where is it?" Harry asked. "Right there Harry." She said pointing to the door. As they were walking, four people came into their view.
Draco, Pansy, Blaise and Theo were making their way to the common room. Theo and Blaise were still fighting. "Are we there yet Draco?" Pansy asked. "Yeah." Draco replied. "You see that door? That's the one." He said as he pointed towards the door. Suddenly, four people came into sight.
The two groups reached the common room at the same time. There was no noise. Everything was quiet. Both groups stood there, staring at every member of the other group. There was a sudden clinking noise. Everyone looked around to where the noise had come from. It had come from near Theo. Theo looked startled, as everyone was staring at him, including the Gryffindorks. He distinctly felt something fall beside his leg.
He he.. The ending was a bit awkward wasn't it? Well.. what do you think fell near Theo? Tell me in your reviews!
