The dorm was decorated wonderfully in both Slytherin and Gryffindor colours. It truly was a sight to behold.
"Bloody hell! This is awesome!" Ron said.
"Yeah." Hermione said. "I didn't know Gryffindor and Slytherin colours matched so well."
"Oh! Look people!" Malfoy said. "The great Hermione Granger, The War Heroine does not know something. Look everyone look! You may not get to see or hear this again!"
Hermione opened her mouth to say something, but shut it quickly, not wanting any more fights than there already were.
"What's the matter Granger?" Malfoy continued. "Can't find anything else to say?"
Hermione glared at him. "Shut up Malfoy." She said. "I just didn't want any more fights for the night." She said.
Malfoy opened his mouth to make a comeback, but was cut off by Ginny.
"Right." She said. "The fight. Nott,"
Theo looked at Ginny.
"Sit down." Ginny gestured towards the couch. Theo came and sat down silently opposite Ginny.
"Do you know how my lipstick was in your bag?" she asked calmly.
"No. Please trust me. I would never do such a thing." He said.
"Give me a reason to trust you."
"Well.. I, for one, have very deep feelings for Daphne Greengrass. So why would I do such a stupid thing? I know Daphne has feelings for me too, but she doesn't show it."
Harry and Ron watched in amazement as he talked about his feelings for another girl in front of everyone. These Slytherins were certainly an exception.
"Hah!" Malfoy said and went up to Blaise. Blaise sighed and glared at Theo. He then took out ten Galleons from his pocket and handed them to Malfoy. Everyone was watching the proceedings with interest.
"What's all this?" Theo asked.
"It's some stupid bet these idiots have made." Pansy said.
"What kind of a bet?" Theo asked in surprise.
Pansy looked at Blaise and Draco to answer.
"It's NOT a stupid bet." Malfoy said. "Last year, while we were at school, Blaise and I were partnered in Potions. But we never used to discuss Potions, we used to discuss mainly about this useless Theo and the Greengrass girl."
"We never discussed, we argued." Blaise interjected.
"That's right." Malfoy said. "I argued that Theo had feelings for her while Blaise believed that he did not. So we made a bet. And now, I've won it. Thanks Theo."
By now, everyone expected Theo to go up to Draco and Blaise and ask them a few choice questions. But Theo just went up to Draco and Blaise and gave them both a friendly pat on the back. The only words he said were,
"You're pure Slytherins mates."
Draco and Blaise grinned at Theo while Pansy sighed. They all hugged each other and kept on laughing. It seemed as if the Slytherins had forgotten that there were other occupants in the room. Harry and Ron were watching the Slytherins as they had gone mad whereas Hermione was trying to concentrate anywhere but on the scene before her.
Hermione was trying to desperately stop herself from looking at the laughing Slytherins. Well, precisely, she had to take her eyes off Malfoy. She just couldn't stop watching him. She felt as if she knew him all too well, while she didn't know him at all. "What a stupid feeling!" Hermione thought as she watched Malfoy hug Blaise. "He has such beautiful eyes." She thought. "Oh SHUT UP MIONE!" she thought to herself. "You shouldn't be doing this. No. No. Don't do this. It's wrong. It's not right. No." And she kept repeating this. She was suddenly jerked back to her surroundings. The Slytherins had stopped their 'friends game' and were now staring at her intensely. She turned around and watched Harry and Ron staring at her too. "What?" she asked them. "Well.." Ron started. "You were saying something…" he trailed off. Hermione looked at him oddly.
"Why Weasley," Malfoy came up behind her. "Can't even explain a small little situation to your girlfriend? You really are a pathetic excuse for a wizard." He said.
"I am NOT –" Ron was cut off by Hermione. "I AM NOT HIS GIRLFRIEND!" she said indignantly. "Stay calm, stay calm," she told herself. "I think I've already told you that Malfoy. I didn't know about your memory problem. You should certainly consult a Healer." She said.
"It's not me that has any kind of problem Granger." Malfoy said. "It's you who has a problem. You were talking to yourself like a madman a few minutes ago."
Hermione was confused. "What?" she asked.
"Yeah." Malfoy said. "You said, 'You shouldn't be doing this. No. No. Don't do this. It's wrong. It's not right. No.'" he said in a high pitched girly voice.
"Oh no!" Hermione thought. "I should really try and stop this habit of voicing my thoughts out loud."
Malfoy, meanwhile, was laughing his head off. "Shut up Malfoy." Hermione said. Thinking that she had to lead the discussion towards another direction, she said to Ginny. "Hey Ginny! What about your lipstick issue?" she asked.
Ginny, who was smiling slightly changed her expression to calm one. She turned to Nott. "Can I trust you?" she asked him.
"You sure can." Nott replied. "I think I'll go after the idiot who did this. Once I find out who it is, you'll understand."
"Alright then." Ginny said. "I'm sleepy. Shall we head to bed?" she asked her friends.
Harry and Ron nodded and followed her upstairs, while Hermione just stood there, staring at Malfoy. She suddenly realized that Malfoy knew that she was staring at him. But what she didn't understand was that why was she staring at him. She fully expected him to say something cutting and insult her. But the words that came out of his mouth surprised her completely.
"I think you should go to bed Granger. I know you're feeling sleepy." He said softly.
She looked at him in astonishment, as did his other Slytherin friends. She saw warmth and softness in his eyes. It was an affectionate expression. That was the first time she saw something other than the cold, frozen expression. She just nodded and went upstairs to her room.
Draco turned to look at his three friends. Thy just stared at him oddly and went up to their rooms too. Draco just sat there in the common room thinking about what he had just done. Why had he spoken so softly to her? What had come over him? "I must be going mental." He thought. "I must go and see a Healer as Granger suggested. She's always right. FUCK! Why am I thinking like this? What more is this year going to bring?" he thought desperately. He went up to his room to get some sleep.
Hermione had changed into her pajamas and had gotten into her bed. It was soft and cosy. "Not softer that Malfoy's eyes of course." She thought. She slapped herself thinking what had gotten over her. Why couldn't she stop staring at him? Why was he such a distraction to her? And why was he so affectionate towards her? "I'll get some sleep now." Hermione thought. "God knows what more is going to happen for the rest of the year!" she thought and fell asleep.
I hope it was fine! And thank you all my reviewers! Please review!
