Hermione woke up early the next morning feeling very fresh and happy. She opened her door and looked down onto the common room. She had expected it to be empty, but there were two people seated on the couch side by side. She was completely surprised. She was surprised as the two people were Ron and Pansy. She gazed at them for a minute until she saw the door directly opposite to her open.

Draco was awake very early. He sat on his bed for a while thinking about the previous night's events. First of all, why had he called Granger 'love'? He shook his head vigorously. No. He would not let this morning be spoiled because of those useless thoughts. He would go down to the common room and read his favourite book, 'The Malfoy Story'. So he opened to his door, only to see Granger standing in front of her door, looking at him.

Hermione looked at Draco for a second and then turned away to look down again. "What is she looking at?" Draco thought and he too, looked down. Ron and Pansy were sitting on the couch together and Pansy had her head on Ron's shoulder. "What the fu.." Draco thought.

Hermione had expected Malfoy to have a fit of temper. But he just looked down with a shocked expression. Then he looked up at her. He took out his wand and wrote a message that said, "Let's surprise them from behind the couch." Hermione, for some reason felt that this was a great idea. She nodded. They moved slowly towards the staircase as anther door opened from the left. Harry came out of the room, looking super-fresh.

"Hiya!" he said. "Morning folks!"

"They would have certainly heard that." Draco thought.

He moved to see. Now, Pansy's head was in Ron's lap. Maybe they hadn't heard anything after all. They were lost in their own little world.

"Shut up Potter!" Draco whispered.

"Why?" Harry asked.

"Come here Harry." Hermione said, as she beckoned him closer.

She made Harry look down. "What is he doing?" Harry asked.

"Shh." Hermione said. "Let's go down silently and surprise them."

Harry nodded. The three were moving trying not to make any noise. Hermione went first while Draco and Harry were coming behind. Hermione reached the bottom successfully. She turned around to tell Harry and Malfoy to come. Another door opened. Blaise came out of his room yawning widely. He walked forward and saw Draco and Harry halfway down the stairs.

"Morning Draco! Morning Potter!" he cried cheerfully.

"Idiot!" Harry thought.

"They surely must have heard this." Draco thought.

"Morning Blaise." He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Hey what did I do?" Blaise asked.

Sure enough, Ron and Pansy heard Blaise shout and separated quickly. Ron went and sat opposite Pansy. None of them noticed Hermione, who was looking at them with an amused expression.

Draco went down the stairs making as much noise as he could. Harry followed him.

"What do you think you two were doing?" Draco asked.

"We.." Ron stammered. "What do you mean?"

"I said, what were you two doing?"

"We were just sitting here." Pansy said.

"Yeah. You were just SITTING with your head in Weasley's lap."

"Draco –"

"Stop."

"But –"

"Do you like him?"

"What?" Pansy asked.

"Do you like him?"

"I.. well… Alright. I'll tell you the whole story. I was up really early this morning. So was Ron. We just got talking and well.. we.. um.." Pansy said uncomfortably.

"We kissed." Ron spit out.

"You did WHAT?" Harry shouted.

Two more doors were opened. Ginny and Theo came down. "What's this all about?" Ginny asked Malfoy, who was standing closest to her.

"YOUR BLOODY BROTHER KISSED PANSY!"

"Really?" Theo asked.

Draco turned back to Pansy.

"Do you like him?" he repeated.

"Yes." Pansy replied quietly.

"Fine." Draco said. "Give it a go. But if you hurt her, you will pay Weasel."

Everyone smiled.

"Hey I heard the Chudley Cannons are playing against Bulgaria!" Harry said, completely out of place.

"Yeah I heard about it too. Don't you think that Cannons seeker is amazing?" Draco said.

"Yeah. He is really great." Harry replied.

"I have a few pictures of him.." Draco said and the both of them went up to his room to take a look at the pictures.

Ron and Pansy curled up together again. Blaise and Theo sat down to talk. Hermione and Ginny got down to some girl talk. Peace prevailed in the Head Dorms.

Ginny was telling Hermione about the new fashion, while Hermione said she would go and keep her books ready.

"Oh come on Hermione!" Ginny wailed. "We still have so much of talking to do!"

Hermione laughed. "I'll be back in a minute Ginny." She said and went upstairs.

Just as she reached the top of the staircase, she saw Malfoy and Harry come out of the room. They were laughing and talking like old friends.

"Don't forget Malfoy!" Harry said as he went downstairs.

"Ok Potter!" Malfoy said cheerfully. "He and I do have a lot in common." He mused after Harry had gone downstairs. He hadn't yet noticed Hermione.

"Nice." Hermione said, stepping forward.

"You were here all the time?" Malfoy asked, shocked that he had admitted such a thing in front of her.

"Yeah." She said smiling. "What did he tell you not to forget?"

"Oh that.. I told him I'd get some of those pictures for him too."

"Good. I'm glad that you two are getting along well. By the way Malfoy, you handled that situation downstairs really well."

"Thank you Granger, but I don't think I need your appreciation."

Hermione huffed. "I just wanted to tell you."

"You know," he said, suddenly very serious. "I too, have a good side Granger." He said and walked off.

Hermione stared after him. "Maybe I shouldn't have said that." She said to herself. "Sorry Malfoy." She said to no one and walked off to arrange her books and then have a shower.

Malfoy, having heard Hermione speak to herself, smiled and went downstairs.

It was time for breakfast. They went down and sat at their places. Lavender came up to Ron once more and nagged him to forgive her and be with her again. Ron felt his temper rise and said to Lavender,

"I'm with someone else. So go now."

"WHAT"! Lavender cried. "How could you do that to me Won-Won!"

Malfoy once again burst into laughter.

"We were not together were we?" Ron said coolly. "You were the one that decided to break-up."

Lavender shot daggers at him. "Fine. But as a matter of interest, who are you with?"

Ron smirked. "Pansy."

"Pansy?" Lavender asked. "I've never heard of her. Is she a Hufflepuff?"

Ron shook his head. "No. She's a Slytherin."

"Now that's weird." Lavender mused. "I've never heard of this girl before. Where is she right now?"

Ron's smirk grew wider. "She's right here."

Lavender, being the unintelligent girl that she was, took a little time to understand who Ron was referring to.

"Pansy Parkinson!" she said in shock.

Ron simply nodded.

Lavender got tears in her eyes and ran off. Ron turned back to his dinner and continued eating his food. The others laughed and went back to the breakfast.

Suddenly a hundred or more owls flew in. Ginny and Ron got a letter from their mother. None of the Slytherins got mail. Ron asked Pansy. "Don't you ever get mail? I've never seen you get any."

"Well," Pansy said. "Most pureblood parents never write to their children. They write to them only if it is a very important matter."

"Oh." Ron said.

A midnight-blue coloured owl swept down and dropped a letter in front of Draco and flew off.

It left everyone wondering what important letter Malfoy had gotten.
