I guess you're all wondering what important letter Draco got. Read this chapter and find out! Please read, enjoy and review!
JKR owns everything!
Draco stared at the letter in front of him, and then at everybody else. They were all looking at him, question marks on their faces. He then picked up his letter. There was a huge Malfoy crest stamped on it. He fingered the letter nervously. All the letters that he had gotten while Voldemort was alive were letters telling him to go on a mission, or ordering him to do something related to Voldemort's dark stuff. But the Dark Lord was dead now. He could no longer be forced to do any kind of dark magic. He felt a bit brave and opened the letter. He immediately saw the neat handwriting of his mother written on the parchment with the standard green Malfoy ink.
Dear Draco,
I heard from Severus that Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, Miss. Weasley, Miss. Granger, Blaise, Theo, Pansy and you are living in the same dorm. I am extremely happy that you are all living in the same dorm. I would like you to be friends with Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, Miss. Weasley and Miss. Granger. We have committed many faults in the past, and now, we have to make up for them. I would like to invite all of them to tea at the Manor. I will drop by at Hogwarts in a few days and give them all a formal invitation but you must first invite them. Please tell me whether they have accepted the invitation or not.
I hope you are doing well in your classes. Your father and I expect good grades from you this year.
I also heard that Miss. Granger is Head Girl this year. Please congratulate her on my behalf.
Please invite Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, Miss. Weasley, Miss. Granger, Blaise, Theo and Pansy to tea and tell me what they think.
Your Loving mother,
Narcissa Malfoy.
Draco stared at his letter in shock. How was he supposed to invite all these people to tea? Of course, he could easily invite Blaise, Pansy and Theo. But what about the Gryffindorks? What will they think of me? Even if I invite them, will they accept?
"Draco?" Blaise waved his arm in front of Draco.
"Huh?"
"Were you daydreaming?" Blaise asked.
"No. I was just thinking what to do about this letter."
"What does your letter say?" Theo asked.
"Nothing."
"Come on Draco!" Blaise said.
"Shut up Blaise."
"Give it to me! Give it!" Blaise tried to snatch it out of Draco's hands.
"No no! Blaise!"
The two fought over the letter. Draco held it behind him in order to hide it from Blaise's view. Theo suddenly snatched the letter from behind.
"Hah!" he cried.
"Theo give it back!" Draco shouted.
"No I won't!"
"You! Damn." Draco gave up and sat down.
"Let me read it out loud." Theo said and cleared his throat.
"Theo no!" Draco cried in horror.
"Please do not interrupt me." Theo smirked.
"Giv –" Draco was about to take back his letter but he realized just then that Theo was going to save him a lot of trouble. It would be a hell lot difficult for him to invite the Gryffindors. Letting Theo read the letter would be a lot easier.
"Fine." Draco said and sat back in his seat.
Theo smirked once more at Draco and proceeded to read the letter out loud. By the time he was finished, the Gryffindors were totally amazed.
Narcissa Malfoy was inviting them to tea! If anyone had said this to them 2-3 years ago, they would have honestly sent that person to St Mungo's for an IQ test.
"So?" Malfoy asked.
"What?" Ron said, coming out of his thinking.
"Are you coming or not?"
"Well.." Ron turned to Harry.
"Shall we?" Harry asked Ron.
"I think we should." Ginny said.
"Well.. um.. fine, then." Ron muttered.
"Really?" Malfoy asked, his eyes shining.
"Yeah sure." Harry said with greater confidence.
Draco was really thrilled, but he would not show it. They had accepted so easily! He never thought they would. So this was what Gryffindors were like. He noticed that Granger had not said a word during the whole conversation, but was just staring at her food.
"Granger?" he called.
"Huh?" Hermione said as she snapped out of her daze.
"You didn't say anything at all."
"I, well.." she stammered.
"What happened?"
"I just… I just can't handle going back there." She said.
"Oh God!" Draco thought. "How could I forget? She was tortured there by Bellatrix! Oh no what have I done?"
"I'm sorry." Draco said quietly.
"What?" Hermione asked surprised.
"Sorry."
"Why?"
"I didn't think about that."
"It's fine."
"So.. Are you coming?" he hesitated.
"I need some time to think."
"Sure."
"It's time for class. We should go." Hermione said and turned away to talk to Padma.
Draco put his head in his hand. Theo put an arm around him.
"I really messed up." Draco said.
Theo patted his back.
"How could I forget that?" Draco said this time, with his eyes a little watery.
"Leave it Draco." Theo said.
"I couldn't do anything!" Draco said. "I should've done something. Anything! I should have helped her somehow! But I didn't! I was a coward!"
"There was nothing you could do." Theo said firmly.
Meanwhile, Harry, Ron and Ginny were watching Malfoy carefully. They felt extreme pity and sympathy towards him.
"Yeah." Harry spoke up. "There was nothing you could do Malfoy. Leave it."
Draco looked up in astonishment. "Thank You." he said softly.
"Don't mention it." Harry said cheerfully. "I think we have Potions first, right?"
"Yeah." Draco replied.
"Come on then Draco." Harry said.
"Sure Harry."
Both of them ran off.
The rest of them shook their heads at them and followed them to the Dungeons.
Hermione had heard everything Draco had said. She felt that she should really go to Malfoy Manor. "Yes." She decided. She would tell him that night at the dorm.
When Hermione entered the dorm, back from her rounds, she saw a sight she hadn't been expecting to see at all.
Draco and Harry had their work sprawled out all over the floor and were working TOGETHER on their Quidditch essay.
Blaise, Theo and Ginny were working on practicing their charms. Ron and Pansy were looking at books from the library trying to find an antidote for the poison that Snape had threatened them with in Potions.
She went up to Harry and Draco.
"Well, well." She said. They looked up at her.
"Hello Mione!" Harry beamed.
"Granger." Malfoy nodded.
"I never thought I would see this." Hermione laughed.
"See what?"
"I never thought I would see you two working together."
"Oh that…" Malfoy trailed off.
"We were just.." Harry thought of something to say.
Hermione smiled. "No problem guys. It's good, actually." She said and walked off to her room. She too got her homework in the common room and began to write her essay.
"I think," Harry said. "The Wronski Feint was founded by the Polish seeker Josef Wronski. Isn't that right Malfoy? Malfoy?" he asked, when he heard no reply. Harry looked beside himself and saw Malfoy sleeping contentedly on a pile of books. "Hermione!" he called. "Herms!"
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Look." Harry said silently.
Hermione saw that Malfoy was sleeping on his pile of books. "He looks so serene while he's asleep." She thought for a second. "Shut up Mione!" she thought in rage. "How can you even think like that?"
She snapped out of her thoughts as she saw Blaise approach Malfoy with Bertie Bott's every flavour beans in his hand. He popped them into Malfoy's open mouth. He chewed them in his sleep and mumbled,
"Nice raspberries mummy."
"So the beans were raspberry flavoured," everyone thought.
Blaise, Theo and Harry were about to go and tickle him but Pansy stopped them.
"Let him sleep." She said firmly.
"But.. Come on!" they protested.
"No." came the firm reply.
"Fine." Theo and Blaise hung their heads in defeat and walked back slowly to their rooms.
"Alright!" Pansy said. "Our work's done. I going to bed." She announced and went upstairs.
"So am I!" Ron said he too, went to his room.
"I'm done too." Ginny said. "Coming Harry?"
"Sure." Harry said and joined Ginny. "What about you Mione?" he asked.
"I still have a little to write. You guys go on ahead."
"Ok! Night Mione!" Harry said.
"Good night Harry!" she replied.
She then finished her essay. Malfoy was still sleeping on the books. She still hadn't told him that she was coming.
"Malfoy?" she called hesitantly. "Malfoy?"
"Huh?" he mumbled in his sleep.
"You invited me to tea at your house right?"
"Who are you?"
"Me? I'm Hermione Granger."
"Oh it's you.." he yawned.
"Well, I just wanted to tell you that I'll be there."
"Really?" he asked, still sleeping.
"Yes. Good night."
She turned to go as she heard Malfoy shout.
"Really?"
She turned around and saw that he was wide awake now.
"Was that a dream?" he asked her.
"No." she said.
"You're really coming?"
"Yeah."
"Thank you." he said very softly.
"Umm. Okay. Good night Draco."
"Good night Hermione."
"And maybe you should sleep on your bed."
He just laughed and walked away to his room. "We just called each other by our first names!" he thought in surprise.
Hermione shut her door and lay on her bed. "Did we just call each other by our first names?" she thought.
"I guess we get along really well." Draco and Hermione thought as they fell into a deep sleep.
How was it? Please review! I love you guys!
