Draco stared at his reflection in the mirror. His hair was disheveled and he looked awful. He had been worrying about the Hogsmeade trip. In his worries, he had run his hands through his hair a number of times. He was about to do so once again, but Blaise burst into his room.
"Hello Drac-" Blaise stopped mid-sentence as he saw Draco's appearance.
"Aren't you going to get ready?" Blaise asked.
"I'm just worried about today." Draco replied.
"Look. I'm already ready and the others will also be ready in a minute. Today will be fine." Blaise encouraged.
"Are you sure?" Draco asked.
"Hundred-percent sure!" Blaise said with full confidence.
Draco smiled at him.
"Now," Blaise said. "I will be coming back in exactly ten minutes. And if you are not ready by then I will drag you downstairs, no matter how you look. Am I clear?"
"Okay, okay. Yes dad!" Draco said. "Now you get out and let me get ready." He said and shoved Blaise out of the room.
Draco mused about his attire. Finally, he decided that he would wear his black suit, the one that his mother loved so much. He put on his suit and began to style his hair carefully. He was ready in exactly ten minutes. He went downstairs to find Harry, Blaise, Theo and Ron sitting and chatting.
"I thought you were coming to get me in ten minutes Blaise." Draco said, causing all of them to turn to him.
"I knew you'd come down by yourself Draco." Blaise replied.
Draco smirked at Blaise. "You really are my best mate." Draco said and hugged Blaise.
Harry and Ron watched as Theo joined the hug.
"Come on you two!" Draco called out.
"Who, us?" Ron asked in surprise.
"Of course." Draco said. "Can you see anyone else here? Come on."
Harry and Ron went over to the group and joined in.
"Alright, enough friendliness." Draco said after a while and broke the hug. "Where are the girls?"
Theo sighed. "They said they'd get ready together and went up to Weaslette's room."
"Even Pansy?" Draco asked.
"Yeah." Blaise said.
"I'll go check on them." Ron said. But before he could go, Pansy came downstairs, looking beautiful in a forest green dress. Ron stood at the foot of the staircase, speechless. Before Ron could say anything, Ginny came out of her room with great speed.
"Why, Pansy I do believe I told you to keep some of the face wash for me! And you emptied it all!" Ginny said angrily as she came running down the stairs in her dark red dress.
"I forgot! I'm sorry!" Pansy said as Ginny jumped from the second step.
"You look great!" Harry said, stepping forward.
"Oh well, thank you." Ginny said, smiling. Everything about the face wash was forgotten.
"Ready to go?" Theo asked everyone.
"Wait what about – " Draco asked as he was cut off by Harry.
"Hermione, yes." Harry said as he smirked at Draco. "Go get her, will you Draco?"
"Me?" Draco asked.
"Yes. You." Blaise said.
Draco sighed and went upstairs.
"Come on, come on everyone fast!" Pansy whispered and they all followed Draco upstairs to eavesdrop once more.
Draco saw that the door was shut. He knocked lightly. "Grang- Hermione?" he called.
Inside, Hermione was desperately trying to tame her hair, but failing miserably each time. She was about to start all over again when she heard Draco's voice. "What is he doing here?" she thought. His voice brought him out of her thinking.
"Hermione are you ready?" he called.
"Uh.. Yeah! Just a minute!" she called back.
Another five minutes passed.
"Hermione!" Draco called impatiently.
Hermione was still working on her hair, but in vain. "Oh no!" she thought. "He's calling me again! What do I say to him?" But before she could say anything, Draco came bursting in.
"I can't wait any longe-." He stopped in mid-sentence as he saw Hermione looking wonderful in a periwinkle blue dress that came down to her knees.
"Merlin!" he blurted out. "You look gorgeous!"
Now Hermione was surprised. No one except Harry, Ginny, Ron and a few others had complimented her on her looks. And now, listening to the boy who was rated as the hottest boy in the school say this to her, she felt kind of tingly.
"You really mean that?" she asked.
"Of course I do!" he exclaimed.
What was he doing? Did he just compliment her? "She does look great." His mind said.
"You shouldn't be thinking like this DRACO!" he shouted at himself in his mind.
"Ahem." He cleared his throat and regained his composure.
"What have you done to your hair?" he asked Hermione.
"Well…" Hermione said. "I was trying to soften it but the spell I know isn't strong enough."
"Then you could have just asked me!" Draco said, smirking.
"You know a spell to soften hair?" Hermione asked in astonishment.
"Yeah." He said simply.
"Is that how your hair is so good?" she asked.
"So you think my hair is good?" he asked as his smirk grew even wider.
"I… I didn't… I didn't mean to say that!" she said. "Just answer my question."
"No. My hair is naturally like this." He said. "Alright. Let me do this."
"You? How will you – "
"Just shut up and turn around." He cut her off.
He gently fingered her hair and gathered it all together in his hands. "Here we go." He said and took out his wand and pointed it towards her hair. "Capillos Lenis." He said. Hermione's hair turned smooth and silky all at once. She touched her hair in awe.
"Wow!" she said. "This is really good!" she then turned to Draco. "Thank you Draco!" she hugged him.
Draco was utterly dumbfounded. He then hugged her back. "Why am I doing this?" he thought, but his hands seemed to think differently.
"Why in the world did I hug him?" Hermione thought. Her hands seemed to move on their own.
"Nice show!" Harry said as he entered, smiling cheekily.
Draco and Hermione flung apart at once, blushing furiously. Blaise, Theo, Ron, Ginny and Pansy entered the room behind Harry.
"Why do you guys always eavesdrop on our conversations?" Draco asked.
"This was not a conversation, was it?" Harry asked, smiling even wider.
"Then?" Hermione asked.
"You were making out." Ron said without any emotion in his voice.
"How dare you Ronald Weasley!" Hermione cried. "It was just a hug!"
"Yeah!" Draco said. "I was just taming that bush –" he stopped short as he saw Hermione glaring at him. "Sorry, sorry." He said to her. "I was just taming her hair."
"Yeah." Blaise said. "Sure."
"Shut up Blaise!" Draco said as Blaise ran out of the room. Draco went after him.
"This is a really weird day!" Hermione thought as the rest of them smirked.
Was it nice? Please review and let me know!
