"Well you've known me for a week and we've already got to asking about my..." He stopped short there unable to finish the sentence.
"I've got to admit, if someone told me I'd have a reason to want to stick around I would have called them crazy." She admits rolling her eyes. He was so much more genuine and funny than any guy she'd ever really been friends with.. or whatever they were..
"You weren't going to stay?"
"No... Anyway, I think you have single handily sort of changed my mind..."
"Sort of?" He asks raising an eyebrow.
"It's only been a week..." She mutters, moving her hands and face to his chest almost as if she is hiding there.
"True, well maybe I can eventually fully change your mind." He says in a hopeful tone pulling her in to place a kiss in her hair
"And how do you propose to do that then?" She asks regaining her cheeky Astrid tone.
"Secrets!" He replies, laughing as he shuffles away from her.
"You play dirty." She responds, crossing her arms across her chest in a huff.
"How so?" He asks raising an eyebrow.
"Swaying me with promises of secrets and phones in pockets." She explains using quote marks to express the last point.
"I was 'swaying' you with that?" He asks in a genuinely confused voice.
"Yes." She admits, walking towards him again on her tiptoes slightly to reach him better, making her almost eye level with him.
"We should get back to work, I'm sure Gobber wanted us back soon." He says walking one step back from her and reaching to grab their jackets.
"Ah, fine but I don't think we will have the privacy of earlier." She adds, grabbing the jacket from his outstretched hand.
"I don't think I could deal with Snot again though." Hiccup jokes while walking to the front door and grabbing his keys.
"Lets gooo!"
Hiccups car pulls up in the staff car park at the rear of the bar where Ruff, Tuff, Snot and an unknown girl stand waiting for Tuff to finish his cigarette. Ruff waves as she recognises the sleek car and gives the unknown girl a nudge to the arm.
"Oh great." Hiccup mutters as he parks. The pair exits the car and walk to the group pretty close together.
"Astrid did you hang out at Hiccups all of that time?" Snot asks curiously.
"Maybe, who wants to know?" She responds, crossing her arms.
"Snot shut up," Ruff commands and then leans to Astrid to whisper "This is Heather."
"Didn't you quit?" Astrid asks, sounding ruder than she meant it to be.
"Didn't you take my job?" Heather replies crossing her arms across her chest.
"Meeeeoowww!" Tuff shouts making his hand into a claw shape.
"And by the looks of it my ex too?" Heather continues, nodding her head in the direction of Hiccup.
"Heather shut it." Ruff says pushing Heather lightly and she turns to address Astrid again. "She has come to ask for her job back, but you're not in danger, Gobber likes you too much."
"Phewww!" Snot adds sarcastically, earning him a punch from all three girls. "Shit man!"
"Hiccup." Heather says as a greeting, nodding at him.
"Heather..." He replies almost cautiously and turns to Astrid, "We should probably go in."
The group continued their work from earlier on and had almost finished clearing everything away when Gobber came in and announced the great work they had all done but a few could leave as he didn't need that much staff in, he chose Astrid, Ruff and Tuff to go home because everyone else was moaning. Well, except Hiccup but he had to stay anyway.
"Do you wanna stay at mine Ruff? We could have a girly evening?" Astrid asks as the three walk out the back of the bar.
"Sure, we need to talk." She replies winking making Astrid sigh, she knows what is coming and it won't be painless.
"Do you want me to drive you to Ruffs to get her stuff?" Hiccup offers as he grabs his keys from his pocket.
"Sure, thanks it's pretty close to mine anyways." Astrid responds smiling at Hiccup, making his face flush red.
"Gobber I'm gonna drop the girls home I'll be back soon!" He shouts not waiting for a response before he ushers the girls towards his car.
"I'm cool with it but no making out in the car, you'll make us crash." Ruff adds. Brilliant. Astrid and Hiccup just exchange slightly awkward glances and climb into the car.
When they arrive at Ruffs house the pair stay in the car while she goes to grab her things which leaves Astrid hoping she can find something to say until he does it for her.
"So I wonder why Heather has such an issue with us—I mean you..."
"Ah, erm I guess it's just her being mad? I mean if you have history you know better than I do I guess..." She replies taken by surprise by his thought.
"Alright... erm... I'll, er... text you?" He asks nervously and she responds with a nod knowing maybe now isn't a great time to bring that up. She smiles until Ruff scares them both by jumping back into the car.
"Bamanos!" She shouts tapping Hiccups head.
"It's 'Vamanos' Ruff..." Astrid sighs correcting her weird friend.
When Hiccup had pulled up outside they girls quickly departed and he drove back to work as quick as the speed limits would let him, he needed to get stuff done so he could avoid Heather at all costs.
When he made it back into the bar Heather was serving a guy maybe around his age and as soon as she noticed Hiccup there she began to flirt as if her life depended on it. He sighed and ignored her poor attempted of trying to make him jealous.
"Man I forgot how hot she was, you hit that?" Snot asked coming up behind Hiccup to whisper the comment. Probably the first time he'd whispered in his life.
"Yeah, I hit that. Please don't remind me." He muttered picking up a glass to clean it as a distraction.
"How long did you 'date' again?"
"About 8 or 9 months I think."
"Wow, so you hit that a lot then?" For once Scot seemed interested in something Hiccup spoke about. This was rare.
"Yeah I guess I did, I don't think there was anything between us though."
"So you wouldn't mind if I hit that?" He asked... Ah there it was the anterior motive.
"Stop calling it that please its really kind of degrading to her. But no I wouldn't mind." Hiccup groans, tired of this dragging conversation.
After Snot had pissed off Hiccup had found Heather creeping closer and closer to him to serve people and flirt/ attempt to make him jealous again... They had split up like a month and a half ago she needed to move on but obviously wasn't.
"So, Hiccup... you banging the blonde here?" She asks sourly after finishing serving a group of girls.
"No, we're...I don't know what we are actually, like friends? I guess?" He answered, and then regretted the words immediately. She had hinted but they weren't officially anything yet really.
"So she wouldn't be mad if did this?" She asks as she slides her hand down his dark shirt, along his chest.
"She might be." He answers trying to stay composed but it was hard to when Heather knows the right places to put her hands. 8 months can give people that power.
"What about this." She slides her hands lower before Hiccup grabs her arm and brings it to the bar.
"Stop. Heather you ended it over a month ago." He reminds her sternly.
"Why would I do that?" She pouts, in an attempted sexy manner. Failing.
"If you're going to follow that with 'you're so hot' here are two reasons not to, one: shh two: do not reference Mean Girls." It had been a common film choice when they were together, the thought of it made him cringe a little.
"Fine, but why would you want a short ass like her when you could have this tall, dark goddess?" She asks flipping her raven hair over her shoulder.
"You are just as big headed as you were back then." He huffs, pouring a drink for a girl from the group Heather had served. He leaves Snot, Heather and Gobber serving drinks to go clear his head in the staff room.
"Ahh the memories of in here, aye Hic'?" She said, having followed him silently, startling him and making him spin on the spot.
"Heather what are you trying to accomplish?" He asks, clearly frustrated with her.
"I should never have left you." She said approaching him with a slow stroll.
"Well, you did. So byee." He snapped back, leaving the room before being pushed against the corridor wall and kissed by her. He pushed her off as gently as he could, he could not deal with her faking an injury.
"I know you want me Hic', don't deny it." She whispers before strutting out into the bar area.
"Seriously...shhiit." He mutters to himself sliding down the wall with his face in his hands.
